Reliable CNN Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport writer Tancredi Palmeri confirms talks between Bologna and Liverpool for Gaston Ramirez transfer will happen in next 48 hours.

Praying you're telling the truth. If only

NO. He said discussions will take place in next 48 hours.

Teejay

If all I hear about him is true then go get him.

Redtilli`mdead

I've seen this on his official Twitter account, anyone have any idea how reliable he is though?

He is telling the truth.

His twitter feed also states this

Reallly hope this tranfr foes through cant wait to see him in a liverpool shirt

He'd really improve us. Some times just a tweak is required. I hope he's a tweak!!

any chance of forlan eds he has been released on free? {Ed001's Note - no.}

Why not {Ed001's Note - because his wages are higher than Gerrard's.}

04 Jul 2012 20:07:29
Eds do you know if Liverpool have been monitoring Benat Etxebarria previously? I think he is a quality player and would suit Rodgers system of play. Do you have any idea of his availability. {Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry.}

Hey eds, I've heard from a friend at Leicester City that they are interested in Jay Spearing, I remember when I was Leicester he was on Loan and did very well. Do you know anything of this? Also do you think that he will be sold or loaned? Thanks
Hutch {Ed001's Note - I was told that Rodgers wanted to wait and take a look at the squad in pre-season before making decisions on who would go out on loan etc.}

I can gaurentee you he already knows atleast 5 players he is already getting rid off its not rocket science

So basically until all the good players are taken and we get second class players for double their worth...

Aye, Brendan would have studied all our games from last season and he'll know who is good enough. I expect Jay if he stays to play a lot less. He only played so much because Luas was injured. I like Jay but he gives the ball away too much and when you want your team to play possession footy, then you're not gonna be favoured if you give it away. Sounds like a Chilli peppers song!! Give it away give it away give it away now!

Steve McClaren has warned the clubs tracking star striker Luuk de Jong they will have to make him an offer he 'cannot refuse' to take him from FC Twente.

I hope he put a couple of Maltesers in his cheeks and spoke like Brando when he said it. Can't be any worse than his Dutch accent.

JRG

A new umbrella should do it

Haha I remember that idiots' interview, it hurts my brain trying to understand what was going on in his. I bet it was along the lines of:

I'm english and I'm speaking in english but I'm talking to dutch people who speak english, maybe I should speak dutch out of respect and to show my intelligence. Hang on I can't speak dutch and maybe they can't understand my english clearly..... English in Dutch accent - Genius!

Hi Ed's heard of a fella, who lives in sunderland that liverpool will try and go after sessagon (spelling), if sunderland manage to beat liverpool to the signing of adam johnson, so if we don't sign adam johnson and sunderland do, they will be relunctant but will sell sessagon to liverpool at the right price? Also BR to put a double bid on fulham for dempsey and dembele! Hope we can get 2 out of a johnson, sessagon, dempsey and dembele! Have any ed's or red's heard the same rumour? Thanks ed's would be very grateful for a reply! Great site! Davey H! Y.N.W.A! Born a Red Die a Red!

Probly intreset in acouple but dont think we will actually put in bids

That's great, I suppose its probably the best we can get, we are after all a small time club now, hang on stuff this, actually its not, we are a huge club, we can do better than that bunch second raters, ffs if we do sign them then we have we have acquiesced to taking our place as been behind, City, United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, we might be able to move ahead of Everton, but Fulham could do that. Need to think bigger and better or settle for small time and mediocre. Sick to death of other fans telling us insignificant we now are.

Cookie Monster

Sessegnon is a quality player...Id rather Sunderland over pay for Johnson and offload him to us, as for Dembele and Dempsey...not good enough and too old in my opinion

Chill out cookie monster, this is a rumour site, the guy has given a rumour or 2, may be right or wrong, but is a rumour! And who cares what other fans think! U believe and that's all that maytters! C'mon da boy's let's start this season with a big BANG! Y..N..W..A jft96

I reckon Dembele is perfect for BR and Dempsey would be a great signing too. YNWA!!

Hi eds, what are a chances of Ganso? Santos have said they will listen to offers for him. I think he would fit into Rodgers playing style and he fits into FSG's policy

Thanks a lot:)
RedSpud {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen.}

Ed002 i know he wont be coming to liverpool but just out of curiosity what sort of fee do you think they will be looking at for him
cheers
riley {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to be getting in to fees.}

04 Jul 2012 20:58:29
Is this the most over used prose in the history of prose?

{Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him particularly if someone leaves Liverpool. Ramirez was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial interest after having the player watched. Bologna will not now listen to offers less than 20M euros. However, it remains most likely that Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions have taken place between Bologna and Manchester City, Napoli and Juventus. The talks with Juventus do continue and after Wolfsburg met with the player's agent talks are now being organised between Bologna and Wolfsburg. Gaston Ramirez's agent Pablo Betancourt has now also made it clear that Juventus and Wolfsburg are interested in his client and that he knows of no on going interest in the player from other Italian clubs.}

Hey Eds 002 why dont you modify it a little please? Display some journalistic integrity/liscence and humour us with some other offering instead of a copy and paste. Surely the devotees of this site deserve a little change? Im a journalist also but would never treat my readership like this. Power should not be abused. I've tried offering my knowledge on the Gaston Ramirez situation twice in the last few days but it seems that the Eds dont seem to want to display my information. That I have no problem with as Im just passing on what I know to be true but Im in no way informed of what is happening at our club. But The Ramires situation I actually have the inside track on. So here goes again. We are definitely interested but wont get into a bidding war. We have made enquiries been given a price which is above what the club feels the players worth but at a push well pay especially after Sig situation didnt happen. Gaston fancies the move but Bologna are looking for a better price. As it stands other interested clubs are looking at other targets and if they fall through their will be an auction for Gaston Ramires which we wont enter, because frankly we cant afford it.

Please try the search function for my validity and consistency

In other news, my friend works in a restaurant in Miami, he met Suarez, Forlan and Cavani. The restaurant was shut down for two hours while they ate with their families friends etc. My friend phoned me and told me that Luis was in the restauarant and I got him to ask Luis wether he was staying or going and Luis smiled and said another bottle of water please in Spanish!!

Miami_Red

{Ed002' Note - It does get changed - last week it was updated to reflect the growing interest of Wolfsburg. I have no idea what you posted but for a "journalist" you seem to struggle to differentiate when something changes and something doesn't. No attention to detail then.}

How can you seriously expect anyone to believe that you're a journalist when you can't spell the word 'whether' and don't know the difference between 'there' and 'their'?

Great story miami red if it had been me i would have rushed straight down their lol so do you think another bottle of water means staying or going damn uruguayan's and their secret bottles of water coded messages lol

A journalist with a post littered with grammatical errors and misspelled words. Yes, you're certainly someone I'll take advice from.

There's an old saying... Those who speak, don't know. Those who know, don't speak.

Also, integrity has nothing to do with repeating a post. What you want is for Ed002 to regurgitate the same information in a different order and use synonyms. All this does is show you have a short attention span and need to pick up a new colour of crayon every 5 minutes. If there is no new information, there's no new information. A tautology I know but if the shoe fits...

Good work Eds.

You're not a journalist. If you are, then you're a poor one who gives his copy editors hell.

Also, don't try and rag on the Eds. They get asked the same question 100 times a day. Would you drum up a new response every time?

Not a chance.

JCS

He's right that the eds pick and choose what to post though.

^ Isnt that the point of having "Eds" to pick and choose what gets posted and what doesn't

I do believe this fella to be a journo though as he sound slike a right clown and is talking b*llocks.

Whats with all the henchmen going for the jugular? Firstly do I really care if my spelling, syntax and grammar is off? Its a football forum site not The Economist or Time magazine and I only use spell check when im being paid. I was merely suggesting that when I read the stock Gaston Ramirez answer it bores me and I could do with a bit of variety? Nobody is asking for a different answer every time! ED002 I do respect you for your transparency and publishing my post that shows courage and I admire that! Miami_Red {Ed002's Note - The point being is that if you are going to make accusations then make sure they are correct - otherwise don't be surprised if folks go after you. And perhaps bleating at posters who read nothing and repeatedly ask the same question is more appropriate than complaining about seeing repeat answers. We are in a no win situation here.}

Well said fella.

I graduated in Journalism and I stopped reading the aforementioned's post after the first: spelling, grammatical, punctuation and syntax error.

Cheers ED's.

Eds, what are the chances of us going all out to sign van Persie. The ambition of our bid could convince him to join. Thanks Eds, great site.

Mr. Delusion

I dont think Arsenal would fancy him going to another premiership side

He wouldnt come anyway so no chance

I'm embarrassed that so many of you think he will!

Arsenal are a top four side do they would probably sell to a mid table team like yourselves!

DBEFC

No chance, absolutely none at all. he's nearly 30, he'll cost the best part of 30 million.

lapwing_47

Lol, the name says it all.

Not a chance mate come on be real he has a choice of teams in the cl

Mr delusion is about right

And when we've got that deal done we could re-sign owen and kewell to keep him company in the treatment room.

I love liverpool we are a mighty club but this made me laugh out loud

Have to admit suarez and van persie up front now that would be cracking

Ambition has clearly become the new buzz word for idiots like you. As in "I have an ambition that one day I will have a brain rather than some microwaved spam

Everybody replying to this seriously just looks like an idiot. It's quite clearly a joke.

Ed002 if you had a guess on what sort of budget we have.What would it be keeping in mind macca's last post that we can pay big money for players.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - I would not want to guess at a number but continue to believe that teh owners will be supportive within reasonable constraints.}

I will keep the faith ed.But my feelings is that if we got remirez johnston and soldado that would be a great summer for me.What do you think ed of the chances of all three of them coming or any.CHEERS MATTYLFC {Ed049's Note - slim}

There have been many rumours speculating Andy Carroll moving to AC Milan. Personally I think that that could be a good sale, also Demba Ba has a 7 Million release clause so I think that would be a smart buy.

This would then make new funds to buy new players.

Thanks...

Just clueless totally clueless, wat has are club come to with fans like yourself.
give me 3 bargain players (that would join) for the cost of carroll?????
didnt think so..........................

Its says ac milan would want him for the future so its not goin to happen this season .its not goin to happen at all in all honestly!

With the way Gerrard was putting the ball into the box for England I'd be gutted if Carroll left now. The squad doesn't need an awful lot of tinkering. Sig or someone like him to have an impact from midfield and someone wider maybe.

The success of Carrolls season will largely depend on the quality of service he gets. With the poor form of Downing last season and an out of sorts/unfit Gerrard and Suarez missing so much it's no wonder he had a poor season. If we can improve out wide, keep Gerrard fit and get a full season from Suarez, I expect Carroll to be a big success.

Has anyone actually read the quote? It says nothing about Carroll going anywhere, just someone admiring him. He is not going to Milan, try and think for yourselves, it stops hurting after a while.

I'd much no rather have carroll than ba.

Yup, what the guy above said, it's not even a story. In fact I thought I read something about Milan today or yesterday saying they're done with signings this summer already - confirming Aquilani won't be going there.

Oh and Demba Ba has failed medicals before joining newcastle, dodgy knees? No thanks.

Let's face it caroll wouldn't be sold for 10 million never mind anything close to the 35 million spent on him

Hi!

Just wanted to pass on what I've been told.
Gaston Ramirez will not be joining Liverpool.

Reddie

Theres still a chance

I given up on ramirez a few days ago now hes goin to go to juventus or wolfsburg.

I've been told he would be joining

Hmmmm who to believe

Even Reddier

Who told you?

Where is he going then?

Don't think he will cross the Channel.

Bloomin heck mate you get some information considering your in iceland it must be the huge uruguayan community living there

Does he live in your town too?

Hey! I saw someone commenting on my post that because I got one thing right I think I own this rumour site or something like that. Let's just leave the ed's with that. I am just trying to help and if you don't want information then let me know. Gaston Ramirez won't join Liverpool just wait and see.

Reddie

I'm sorry guys. A friend of mine was told that and he was using my computer and he signed this with my name. Credit to him if it's right. I personally have no idea if he will join us or not. I think that Ramirez is BR's biggest target and I am sure we will try and get him, lets just see where that takes us.

Reddie

Reddie, Steady, go and talk carp somewhere else. {Ed049's Note - haha}

04 Jul 2012 19:52:29
What's happened with the Soldado rumour? Is there interest still with BR? I reckon he'd be a great signing for Liverpool and he'd have a brilliant partnership with Suarez (I reckon carroll would be sidelined a lot more). Love to see Iker Muniain come and Bilbao have to sell but I don't see him coming to Liverpool. Let's just hope BR has the gift of the gab...in Spanish too!

LfcNate {Ed002's Note - Soldado is no longer available.}

04 Jul 2012 19:49:53
Eds would be delighted if you could rate the chances of the following joining us?

Adam Johnson
Affellay
Marco Reus
Gaston Ramirez

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Use the search function.}

Marco Reus has just joined Dortmund this summer, Would take the other 3 tho

04 Jul 2012 19:28:23
Hey Eds, Vertonghen has been quoted as saying he does not expect his Spurs deal to go through, would we be interested in him or are we not interested in the CB position?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I very much expect Vertonghen will move to Spurs or Arsenal in the summer.}

Don't be suprised if Chelsea put a cheeky bid in lads, also here there after axel witsil.

04 Jul 2012 19:19:37
Hi Edds just herd from my mate who works at Newcastle that we are signing demba ba and Ben Arfa for maxi and 6 million any truth ? {Ed002's Note - No.}

That is ridiculous, Ba is worth at least £15m if u take away his buyout clause which is apparently ony for CL teams so we would pay £15m, ben arfa is worth at least £10m, we would be lucky to get £5m for maxi at his age.

What a well thought out post..very believable

I like Ben Arfa but not sure about ba? He fizzled out at the end of last season when cisse came. Probably neither will come though

One of the biggest loads of rubbish i've read on this site.

Worst rumour ive heard in a while!

Yep they are going to make the tea and serve scones

04 Jul 2012 19:14:43
Hey eds. I know i might be a long shot what with his wage demands but with Spurs cooling their interest is there any chance of us getting Adebayor? {Ed002's Note - Fenerbahce and Spurs have shown interest. Cost is putting Spurs off.}

04 Jul 2012 19:12:34
We are in negotiation with Real Betis over Benat Etxebarria.

The Mole

For how much The Mole?

Would be a decent signing if we get him.Would certainly fit the Rogers mould of player from his experience with Spain.
CR

No idea about the figures involved.Just that we have made contact regarding the player.

The Mole

You may have cracked ed002s code isnt benat catalonian or basque form of bernard? does The mole get a cookie ed002? CRAIG

Eds has there been anymore news about gaston ramirez? Obviously there are links from other clubs, but i definatly would not mind seeing him join LFC.

Hello eds
Do you know which clubs are interested in Remy? Is liverpool showing any interest? {Ed002's Note - There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but in January a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there was interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs went in to discuss options for buying the player outright and Marseille said he was not for sale but they could return with a bid in the summer. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side but Marseille have no interest in selling unless a very good offer is made - circa 20M euros - as they need the money. Lille are perhaps showing teh most interest right now.}

04 Jul 2012 18:32:40
Ed, hadn't Forlan left Inter for Athletico Minero? Or have I been misinformed? {Ed002's Note - It remains his likely destination.}

04 Jul 2012 18:14:32
Eds do you think that we may be interested in Diego forlan as he has been let go by inter?
Bean {Ed002's Note - No.}

He was let go for a reason.

Yes he is a ledgend

Never goin to hapen in a million years .....PS he looks like sally gunnell

Is he in the national side? {Ed049's Note - Yes}

04 Jul 2012 18:12:56
Iv been keeping remotely quiet and watching the rumours roll on in this time and to be honest not much has changed. We have blind fans calling for top stars and proud fans believing we are still the liverpool of the 80's. Like a post said last night we are still living off previous victories and so on.

We CANT get cavani or anybody as big as that. We need to look like a squad that is close knit and focuses on playing the ball. Rather than buying a big star and sticking him up front for constant long balls. The game has moved on from that but we have not... as a club and as fans.

Dont get me wrong, some players being mentioned I would love to see play for us but we need to be realistic in our goals. I seen somebody say "oh its a five year plan" ya okay maybe it is but is fighting for mid-table before five years also in the plan? There is positions we need filling and reinforcing needed in others. I would love Cavani, Gaston and De jong but I think we need to try for players like James McCarthy, Adam Johnson, Clint Dempsey and until 2 days ago I would have even been happy with Grant Holt coming in or Shane Long.

Who would you guys like to see play for LFC that is not seen as a huge star or up and coming messi?

and eds what about it? Long, McCarthy, Dempsey, Johnson (I know Price tag) any chance? Or even I dont think this has been asked to you guys before but who would you like to see play for us? or who do you think we should look at?

Cheers
LFC Paddy

Long's overrated, imo. He's a reasonably quick, reasonably strong striker and that's about it. Plus he signed for WBA for £7m only last season, so he'll cost a packet.

McCarthy will be a very good player in a couple of years, imo. But at the moment he doesn't impose himself on the game enough and he has some work to do and needs time to reach his potential. I'd like to see him join, but people have to realistic about what to expect from him straight away. A lot of LFC fans didn't afford that courtesy to Henderson.

Dempsey's decent, but will probably have an inflated fee for his age because he's off the back of a good season.

City probably won't want to sell Johnson to a club could compete for the top 4 in the next couple of seasons if they can possibly avoid doing so.

- Something Red -

Markel susaeta

Come on ed's who do you think we could sign or who would you realistically like to see get signed?

Holt and Long? blimey Paddy surely we must aim higher than that.
Sadly Sigurdson ,who would have been ideal,wanted to much money.Hope the greedy little git has a bad season.
CR

I don't know if you're being serious with some of what you're saying. Signing players like Grant Holt (31, 1 good prem season) would do nothing but take us closer to mid-table.

Shane Long yes, if we could get him for under 10 million or take a chance on Jordan Rhodes for around 6. But a lot depends on how good Rodgers thinks our own youngsters can be.

McCarthy is a talented player but Wigan would want 20 mil which is too steep.

I'd take a chance on Matt Phillips, looks a good player and reasonably priced. But Krasic a few years ago was a fantastic winger and he may be worth a risk.

Mantis

Agree with most of your views,we have got to stop living in the past.Great history better than most but it is the past. Lets start making are own stars,no one had heard of most of Newcastles and Swanseas player before the season started so it can be done.

Baz F

I get more annoyed than you when people bleet on about our fans are living in the past, we're not as big as we were in 80's! So fecking what?! We are a team that can offer European football! We have owners that will put their hands in their pockets if the manager needs! We have a very large P.R. & L.F.C. brand promotional team (lebron James as an example) we can offer exactly what Spurs, inter, Marseilles & athletic bilbao! Gaston Ramirez has been playing with European football & signed an extension until 2016 last January so don't say he is out of our league. We have more to offer than his current club. Wanting better players than mid & bottom prem players is not blind, you take a chance on lesser players & you get downing & Charlie Adam, where does that get us?

M15rk

I know we have to be realistic but you don't become a top team buy signing average players didn't you learn from last season.

We have to accept that until we get back into the CL we are unlikely to attract players who are also wanted by MU,MC,CFC etc. We can not compete financially or offer pretty much guaranteed CL year on year. We need to buy potential and work to develop those players into world class players. The difficulty is those players will need to survive a media battering for every bad game they have as they develop. The media love an opportunity to have a pop at us so gradually realising your potential at liverpool is very very different from doing so at Everton, Swansea etc. They will need our support and not constant radio phone batterings after every dodgy game. Lets face it, we have gone for potential in appointing the manager, we also will have to risk doing so with the players.

I will have a pint of what paddys been drinking please!

Gaston Ramirez and Luuk De Jong are realistic targets. We may have gone down hill, but we still are good enough and have a high enough reputation to attract those kind of players.

What a load of crap, sign a load of Irish players who were by far the worst team in the Euros,we may not be 80s Liverpool but not Wolves yet. Im Irish so I can say how crap the team is.

04 Jul 2012 18:11:30
Hey ed how much do u tink arsenal can get for rvp considering how little time he has left on his contract?

Phil thompsons nose {Ed002's Note - I really don't know, but it will not be too much.}

Where's the Liverpool rumour?!

SuperDuperSuarez

Nasri went for 20 mil with 1 year left, and he's garbage compared to rvp

Who Cares? Check the Arsenal site!

04 Jul 2012 18:07:39
any chance of diego forlan inter are releasing him {Ed002's Note - No.}

04 Jul 2012 17:56:30
With Van Persie presumably leaving Arsenal, and with Juventus previously bidding for the player, does this significantly reduce the chance of Suarez departing? At least to Juventus anyway... {Ed002's Note - RvP signing for Juventus would because Suarez is not their first choice by a long way.}

04 Jul 2012 17:51:13
Afternoon ed fellow reds ,not lfc question . But where do you think RVP will end up I think man city .cheers psv {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Where he makes the most money

It would be interesting to see him at Barcelona.

Good news for us though, a weakened rival. Not so sure that podolski and giroud will succeed, at least not immediately.

Juventus got to be

Im sure theres an arsenal rumours page ask them

You sound like that woman that Les Dennis used to impersonate from Coronation Street. (was it Mavis?)

This will weaken arsenal big time if we get a few good signings the battle for the top 4 will be interesting as i think the only 1 thats nailed on for top 4 is city the rest of us are going through a lot of changes players getting older and moving on ,lampard drogba. terry is crap now cech on the way out chelsea r not as strong,spurs have top players leaving king retired, top 4 is within r casp remember all that hitting the post if we have abit more luck,i think we only need 3 or 4 first 11 players to come in and hold on to suarez. Tommy Irish Red.

04 Jul 2012 17:43:30
Ed - What do you think about the possibility of Navas and Thiago joining this summer? I know Thiago hasn't got the games he'd have liked last season and I'm sure Navas would be open to a move. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Navas is hugely unlikely to leave Sevilla, and if he does it will not be for a team outside of Spain.

Zero chance mate

No chance

Liverpool Striker Luis Suarez To Leave Anfield For Juventus

After a season of controversy, Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez could be leaving Anfield. Juventus have shown great interest in the 25 year old, But the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is confident Suarez will stay according to the Daily Star.

When asked about Suarez, Rodgers responded; " I've had a great chat with Luis, He's looking forward to being here."

"We are obviously hoping that we can get him on to a new contract. But he's really looking forward to the new season."

Juventus aren't the only club showing interest in Suarez though, French giants Paris St. Germain have also been watching the Uruguayan's progress closely and have been rumoured to possibly want to make an offer for Suarez.

Luis Suarez scored 11 league goals for Liverpool in there last Premier League campaign which saw them finish 8th in the table, Brendan Rodgers will be looking to improve massively on a disappointing season.

Where in that post does it even suggest that Suarez IS going to Juve?

The Daily star, say no more!
Lee73

How many times do we need to see this?

Your post contradicts itself, Luis is not leaving!

LFC_7

How many times he's not going anywhere sick and tired of reading these stupid repetitive stories of absolute BS

Suarez is staying

11 Goals only? and how many matches was he suspended for? And how was his talent not fully maximized by the players around him? How many games did he have a decisive influence on? How many assists did he make? How many goals did he create? How many goals did he create himself? How many defenders did he menace? Look at the bigger picture, goals are not his full worth and you cannot lay blame on 1 player for not scoring more, it's a team game.

Super suarez will stay.just wait an see,signing's too start soon.this is the old school liverpool way,no news is good news,we will all be buzzing when are new player's turn up.just chill.jay essex red for life red till dead,walk on

Tbf, you can't just blame the players around him for his failure to score more than 11 goals. He was guilty of some fairly shocking misses himself this year.

I'm hard pressed to see him doing it that much again though.

- Something Red -

Lord give me strength.
Seriously sloppy journalism. The OP quotes correctly. The headline was intended to be sensationalist - the article contradicts itself.
When will everyone understand that the Liverpool way (as it is now) leaves the journos with sweet FA to write about?
It's all made up until its announced.

Sigh.

BigBadBen

Suarez will leave cos he wonts more money

hi edd how is most likely to sign rvp werent we once intrested a year or two ago and could we be now

mike {Ed002's Note - I don't see RvP at Liverpool next season - sorry.}

We can all dream of having him at liverpool

Didnt take long. Like he is going to leave arsenal and go to liverpool

He will join Juventus, meaning that interest in Suarez drops.

Dude please get realistic please?
InMaccaWeTrust

Obviously any liverpool supporter would want RVP but hes said hes leaving for silverwear....not being funny but it would be a massive gamble on his part to sign for us when a new manager has come in and changing every aspect of the way we play...even so dont think we would compete with the many clubs who will be bidding for him. just imagine suarez, rvp, ramirez,tello,affellay and gerrard. well take rvp out of that comment and you never know eh Eds? haha

God help us. Here we go again!!
Good luck Eds.

Oh you deluded person.he wants to win things like leagues and champions league and liverpool are miles away from competing again

Sorry i ment who is most likely to sign him. and i no we couldnt but were we intrested a year or so ago sure macca said something about it back then

Eds, do you know if Lucas will be fit for the start of the season? Or when he is likely to be 100% fit. Because he's said he's looking forward to playing a part next season, but I was wondering how much of a part he'll play.
Cheers,
Jmjs. {Ed002's Note - The club yesterday said that it would be a while longer before he is available to be selected for the first team. Perhaps as late as mid August, but this may simply be precautionary and making sure he is not risked too early.}

This is why we need to get someone like Fernando Gago who can put in a decent performance, who plays at DM and who is calm on the ball.

I think he is the best option for around £7m only and 26 so could be used for a long time to come.

I just recently had a very similar surgery to Lucas' and it is a lot harder than one would think. It has been a month and it is still hard to walk without help. I can't wait for Lucas to be back but you cannot rush it or he could hurt himself more.

Red Rat

Gago's a good player, but he's probably on excessive wages. And he won't be an automatic starter once Lucas is back fit. We shouldn't pay a king's ransom for someone to sit on the bench.

The club are right to handle Lucas with kid gloves over this. Cruciate is a very nasty injury (ended Pierluigi Casiraghi's career, I think) and it's not worth endangering his long term well being for the sake of playing a few more games at the start of the season.

- Something Red -

When he is fit he will leave probaly
he's not good enough anyway

To whoever said he isn't good, you obviously stopped watching Liverpool a couple of years ago. I see him as our best midfielder after Gerrard and will perhaps be one of the best in the league in a few years. (there was a time when people were saying Alonso wasn't good enough and look at him now).
And cheers for the reply Ed.
Jmjs

hi edds great site, been hearing lots of rumours about salomon kalou and demba ba any truth in this and if so is there any chance of them happening? Thanks {Ed002's Note - I would be surprised by Ba. Kalou remains of interest to a number of clubs and is considering an offer from the US. Gala remain interested as well.}

04 Jul 2012 16:35:09
ed any chance of josip ilicic as palermo said there has been a bid from a prem club? {Ed002's Note - Possibly. Both Milan clubs and Juventus have an interest in Ilicic but Inter are favourites if he does come up for sale this summer, which I doubt. England seems a unlikely destination although Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa have looked at the player in the past.}

Ed do you know who bid for him? {Ed002's Note - No I don't. Out of the three EPL clubs who had an interest it was not Chelsea.}

04 Jul 2012 15:35:23
ed is milan's interest in carroll real, and do we have interest in ilicic of palermo.

wafa {Ed002's Note - Both Milan clubs and Juventus have an interest in Ilicic but Inter are favourites if he does come up for sale this summer, which I doubt. England seems a unlikely destination although Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa have looked at the player in the past. I doubt Carroll will be moving to Milan this summer.}

Eds, really quick one ... Price that Man City will sell A.Johnson? I've heard £16M, seems quite high to me. Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks

ElRoja {Ed002's Note - No, sorry.}

Seems high really ,..4mill less than the chin,.19mil less than ac,...the Sam price as hendo,...hmmmmm

We'd get him for 14m

04 Jul 2012 15:32:22
Question for Ed001 if he is about. I know alot of Coventry fans who have been hearing murmurs of Raheem Sterling joining on loan. Is there any level of truth in this? Or, should he go on loan, would it be to a club in a higher league?

TK-Red {Ed002's Note - He is not around right now but Sterling is not able to go on loan before the new year.}

Ok thanks for the info Ed.

Hi Eds (and anyone that can make sense of the UEFA website)

Am I right in saying that Liverpool will enter the Europa league at the 3rd Qualifying round, for which the draw takes place on the 20th of July, and the legs are played on the 2nd and 8th of August.

Or do we enter at the Play-off stages, draw on 10th of August, legs 23rd & 28th of August.

If we are entering at the 3rd Qualifying round, we would still have the BL friendly to play after the games, and any players on Olympic duty are not going to be back.

Cheers guys,
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - Third Qualifying round - and no Olympic players.}

And, in general, no one can understand the UEFA website.

04 Jul 2012 13:05:15
Liverpool first signing will be CLINT DEMPSEY...you heard it here first...

No it wont! you heard that here first!

No we didn't hear it here first, we've heard it plenty of times before. This rumour has been circulating for god knows how long now, or have you been living underground?

..errr, didn't he sign a new contract only yesterday?

Yeah...but not from you

I would like to see Dempsey in the red jersey. He is proven in The Prem and wouldn't cost a fortune !

Despite the page having had Dempsey on it sinse atleast january?

Heard it here first? people have been on about it for ages

Dempsey would cost 10m for a 29 year old rather have demble for 15m

Dempsey would cost 15mill everyone sayin he could come on cheep it's bs.

God help us !

I really hope not.

Obviously a wind up, this guy posts this at least once a day, every day! Maybe he has a thing for him?!

Liverpool will not be signing Clint Dempsey: Must admit this site is great: You see players linked and you know the answer is No No No & NO

Better then sig but to old for my liking

No thankyou, btw just because we have american owners doesn't mean we'll buy american players.

hi eds haven't seen it covered on here yet just been watching sly and it popped up aqua's agent pleading with liverpool to make a quick decision. Is this regarding his future with the club or are there offers on the table for him? cheers stuart {Ed002's Note - THis hax been dealt with at length. Try the search function.}

Tried the search function ed only found any valid info from you saying he will be going, which i understand, the reason i was asking or the point i was making is there new offers for him, i ask again as i may have missed it sifting through the bs posted about player swaps etc. stuart {Ed002's Note - It was to do with offers being made and if Liverpool would let him leave for free. There was a declined offer from AC Milan.}

Hey Stuart m8,I like aqua from the little bits I have seen ,his agent wants to know where he stands so he can find another club believe me his agent is looking for him and has been for some time,as it stands his a lfc player who cost the club a lot ov money and pays him a lot (weekly wage) so to be fair he should get him self bk training so BR can look at him and make his mind up ,he should show sum respect to the club not just say it ,and tell his agent to slow down a little ,that my take on it putting it nicely
YNWA lfc linc

He was good enough for an ac millan sub so hes good enough for a liverpool sub

Brendan Rodgers keen on surplus to requirements afellay having played at barca, being a winger and BR wanting to incorporate barca-esque football

Lenny

He stunk at the Euros

Afellay is imho no adequate Barcelona type player and played an aweful Euro by the way. I'd really wonder if we'd sign another Babel!

He looked like Ronaldo in the Euro's, but all his bad points, greedy, selfish and tried to go for the glory everytime

He's no winger, much better in CM while at PSV

Is there any truth in the interest with afellay, TBH i think he's a great target and would fit in well {Ed042's Note - he was injured for nearly all of last season, and the kid wants to prove himself there so I expect him to stay put for now mate.}

I know, just passin on what I heard.. Much rather have Adam Johnson to be honest

04 Jul 2012 12:37:34
Is Stevan Jovetic of any interest to Liverpool?
Fits the bill IMO, young, quick, creative and is a threat infront of goal {Ed002's Note - Try the search function please.}

He will not be coming to liverpool

04 Jul 2012 12:24:16
Hi.

I see that Maxi Rodriges is still a Liverpool player. Eds: Do you belive he will stay in Liverpool?

I hope so. A very good player, great passing skills. Would fit very well in with Rodgers style {Ed002's Note - I suspect he will move on.}

Maxi is on approximately £4.5M a year...

Quite expensive for a squad player IMO..

Maybe we should give a younger player a chance...

KKM...

Whos to say he will be a squad player under rodgers? maxi would fit in perfectly under the new style of play, hope he stays, quality player!

He will stay

04 Jul 2012 12:11:35
Hi Eds, we looking at Susaeta as far as you are aware?

Would suit Rodgers vision of having some technically sound players who can pass well and is Spanish which he seems to like, also are you aware how much he would cost? Seems to be the type of player that is realistic to where we are at this moment.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris St Germain have shown at least some level of interest in Athletic Bilbao's Markel Susaeta in the past few months.}

04 Jul 2012 11:37:38
Has Tom ince got a buy back clause like barca do with all their young ones? Is he ours or blackpools? If he's there's why did we let him go looks like what we want? {Ed002's Note - There is no buy back clause.}

Ince isn't good enough mate, or certainly wasn't good enough when a decision about his future had to be made..? He just didn't make the grade at Liverpool.
Don't forget, Ince has looked good for Blackpool in the championship, Charlie Adam was outstanding at Blackpool, in the premiership, particularly against the big boys...?
Cutting it at Blackpool and making the grade at Liverpool are very different.
He has done well though, granted.

Plus he has a very very big ego and as a youngster trying to make it at a big club that don't cut it with the people who matter
Liverbird09

No one gives a stuff about the size of a players ego - it's whether they can deliver without being a ball-ache off the pitch. Ronaldo seems the most obvious exemple to use.

His dad didn't help bigging him up all the time and questioning why he wasn't 1st choice at Liverpool in the media.

04 Jul 2012 11:29:47
" Junior Hoilett's talks with the gladbach has broken down over personnel terms. "

any idea how true this is Ed's?

Muniain and Affellay to Liverpool plus one player for defensive cover. Watch this space....

Thanks

Kam

Hope so. We need creativity and players who can keep possession.

Would lOve this to be true :) but probs not :/

Would love that.

As soon as i seen (watch this space) or (you herd it here first) i know its l****rds lol

I would love to see daft posts like these removed completely.
I know the Ed's are far too busy but it's annoying for a genuine red to read this BS and it drags the whole site down to playground stuff at times.
(obviously not a pop at the ed's or genuine contributors)
Eddie P {Ed002's Note - On that rationale we could end up with practically no posts. It is one of the better rumours today.}

I dont claim to be in the know. I dont have any source. I dont have any connection with Liverpool other than supporting them. However I believe BR will sign olayers with pace, creativity and energy who can IMPROVE the current squad. He belives in penetrating posession football. So therefore I believe he will be very much interested in Muniain (already scouted by Liverpool before BR appointment) and Affellay who is available and having spent time at Barca and at EURO 2012 he will certainly attract BR and Liverpool. Both are young and fit the bill. He said he would make 3-4 signings but only sign players who will improve Liverpool. I doubt a striker will be bought however if he does pursue someone like Muniain, he would be quite versatile and adaptable to most formations. Something BR certainly appreciates.

Thanks

Kam

I agree with Eds002 on this one, not the worst and certainly the more believable of rumours posted. Affelay would be great addition if kept fit and there is a good chance of us getting him. Munian may be the harder of the 2 to get and we will face stiff competition for him. But who knows. Also non LFC rumour I had my money on Owen going to Villa about 3 weeks ago and is set to have medical at the weekend there.

I hope so but doubt it , after all everyone went nuts over siggy , but when you see the clubs he played at , the likes of reading and crewe then our sights are not aimed very high are they ,if thats what we all was drooling over then god knows what it would be like with these 2 players

Hate to disappoint my mate is part of athletic Bilbao fan club in Spain. Everyone there believe that munian will go to man united or stay. He would cost at least 25 million and if he doesn't sign for united this year it will be a 3 way battle between united Barca and Madrid.

Napoli are closing in on a deal for Martin Skrtel. Liverpool want 12 million Euros with the defender seeking a deal worth 2.5 million Euros for a five-year contract.

Yann lfc

Ha your having a laugh 12 m euro , joke

John

12 million euros?! try doubleing it!

Ridiculous. Less than £10m for Skrtel? Also, I doubt that he'd accept a contract that's less than what he's currently on. That's roughly £2m over 5 years? No way.

That's less than £10M isn't it?! I would only accept an offer upwards of £17.5M (not saying there is an offer coming in from napoli, or anyone else for that matter, just reflecting on the price stated byt the OP

More like 20 milliOn euros!! This is bull, neither agger or skrtel will leave this summer!!

Get a life 12.5 million he is worth nearly double that.More bull sh.t.

Not to throw water on this, but I thought Citeh were prepared to pay £20m for him, so then why would we be looking to flog him to Napoli for only 12m euros?

Lol the price would be at least double.

12mil. euros - thats a joke
we turned down around 25mil. from City, now we accept 12mil. Napoli?

10 million pounds when City were willing to offer 20, nice rumour

Way too cheap. We shouldn't sell our star players unless we could get another star player in exchange.

Redfuzz

We have a bad habit of selling our players for way under true value!

Hopper

Jesus,even Poundstretcher would offer us more!Get real.

Why do people bother posting this rubbish

Aside from the transfer fee, a £2.5 million contract over 5 years is £10k per week!!!! Even £2.5m per year is £48k per week. Which is probably less than he's on now at Liverpool. So this is clearly tosh...

This cant be true, because LFC did not accept 16,5m that Man city offered for him.. ! but i think he will stay.

LOL

Padre

Maybe its a palyer swap aswell

More like 24 mate

I can't believe people post this crap and then think we are so thick as to believe it! Nutters! Go back to your ps3's

Only 12 million! Seems a bargain at that price. Who are we going to get for the same quality?

04 Jul 2012 10:57:04
Ed002 do you see demba ba as a possible signing? {Ed002's Note - I would be a little surprised if Liverpool were to go for him.}

A very good player at his best. But dont belive Liverpool wanna buy him. To much problems with his knee injury.

According to sly news lierpool offered 7m for him yesterday

04 Jul 2012 10:45:50
With Fernando Llorente looking likely to move this summer, would Liverpool be a possible destination?

{Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Spurs, PSG and Manchester City with rumours of interest from Arsenal and Manchester United as well. Barcelona are considering their future options which may involve a move for the player.}

So why can't we compete with those names then? {Ed002's Note - Who said Liverpool cannot "compete" with those names?}

FLT is on BR's list!!

{Ed049's Note - Former Liverpool coach Kevin Keen has joined Steve Clarke's backroom team at West Bromwich Albion.}

Old news that now it was announced yesterday......

Markolfc85

Eds, have all the backroom staff been appointed. Reason for the question being that if there are any places left to be filled in, it may affect things such as transfer activity. Cheers {Ed002's Note - I don't know if vacancies exist but it wall have no impact on transfers.}

Good.

04 Jul 2012 10:32:57
If Milan want big andy we should try and get pato as part of the deal, maybe offer a few extra million.

Yh coz he hasnt been part of their starting XI for a while.

Why doesn't it occur to you why they want to get rid of pato....

Why can't we just bid for Pato instead without losing Carroll. A front three of Pato Suarez and Carroll. DAMN!!. Add to that a quality all round attacking and defending machine like Java Martinez with Lucas he and Gerrard. We good for 3 or 4th spot. Wishful thinking though mind.....

Will everyone stop talking about Pato joining Liverpool. Why would Milan want to sell him and do you think he Pato wants to play Europa League football? I enjoy reading transfer rumours but inject a small bit of reality for the love of god.

How about carroll and dump aquilani on them for pato, ideal situation, hes still a good player and if brendan presses with the whole possesion game and quick wingers, i think pato will feature nicely alongside suarez.

Pato is too injury prone. in benitez time we splashed out on too many of them. time to get real, i'd rather keep carroll
derryred

Personally really like Carroll but would consider selling him if big money was offered, in the region of 25m.

But definitely won't take Pato, a player who keeps on having injury issues in the slow Serie A will never survive the PL. I would rather take El Shaarawy + a few millions.

Pato is terrible and wouldn't want him anywhere near Anfield.

Swizzmeister-funk

In my honest opinion, Pato is very over-rated, mostly due to his high ratings on fifa, fm, etc. Also, he's hardly ever fit. I would only let carroll go for a deal worth about £25M because I feel he is going to be vital for us next season. If a straight swap for carroll and pato arrives (though I extremely doubt it will) I wouldn't accept it. Just curious ed, who wuld you rather have, pato or carroll?

Tevez joined Man City where there was no European football, so why wouldn't Pato want to play for us? {Ed002's Note - Why the comparison between Tevez and Pato.}

Are people on here serious? Andy Carroll to AC Milan!! Come on, Burlesconi's son said he seen Andy Carroll play ONE game and liked his power and physical playing style, if people and newspaper are jumping onto this rumour then jesus christ, i give up... I like Andy Carroll, but linking him to other clubs because of someone just spilling out names is a joke.

Rocky

Yeah right, like Milan would part with Pato in exchange for Carrol. Why dont we throw in Spearing and see if we can get a deal on Abate while we are at it?

Will everyone stop talking about Pato joining Liverpool. Why would Milan want to sell him and do you think he Pato wants to play Europa League football? I enjoy reading transfer rumours but inject a small bit of reality for the love of god.

Milan will want to sell him cos they think he is crap, they even play maxi lopez ahead of him, pato will want to move because he will want to play football not sit on the bench, he is losing his slot in the brazil team to the likes of damiao. He knows liverpool are interested and he has friends like lucas here, reality? we payed 35 million for andy carroll, after that anything is possible.

Milan do want to sell Pato its known, they tried offloading him to PSG in January because he's paid a lot and relatively injury prone given every season except the 2010-2011 one, he also stated he would want to play in the Premiership one day with friends at Liverpool, United and Chelsea. However I wouldn't swap Carroll when he hit his best form for us at the end of last season and showed he can do it under pressure scoring a quality header only bettered by Zlatan's volley at the Euro's. Give him a chance instead of hoping he turns into a Spanish chap who didn't care about the club get behind the big man.

I think we should keep him for atleast another year, why do you want to get rid when he is just starting to come good. Give them a full season to settle an there's no hiding next season.
I think our last season signings will come good this year

It was more than just spilling the name, berlusconi's son said the club is building for the future and buying younger players. He said he likes andy carroll and after seeing his goal he would like andy at milan.... sounds like a bid is being lined up to me.

If we reject a big money offer for Carroll, then we're stupid. We will never recoup the £35million we paid for him, so I'm sure the club would genuinely consider offers of £18million or more. Also considering Rodgers wants intricate and technical football being played, Andy Carroll isn't the most technically gifted players, although sometimes he has amazed me with what he can do with the ball at his feet.

I personally hope we keep Carroll and he continue's his form from the end of last season. He looked scary to play against and also looked very hungry to win.

Carroll plus 5m

Pato isn't good enough he would be another backward step we need players to improve the squad I think some of these posters have never seen him play just going off the name and where he comes from

Nothing but fifa players commenting here.
Pato is s**t he has done one thing noticeable in the last few years his goal against barca.

The thing is with carroll, is that him and suarez are making an amazing duo now

now that carroll has started to find the back of the net, rodgers will want to keep him

and yeah i agree, we should bid for pato

a trio of carroll, suarez and pato, we would dominate

And anyway, i thought we were after huntelaar

Just want people to appreciate Henderson more than they do atm:

Rodgers has huge hopes for Jordan Henderson. He has told a friend he has the one touch passing of Xavi, the energy of Meireles and the ability to arrive into the box at the right time akin to Lampard. Obviously not on the same level as these 3 yet but great traits to have. His crossing and shooting are also decent, but he needs to improve both to become a complete attacking midfielder.

Defensively, he positions himself very well. His tackling is not the best but in a sense doesn't have to be because he wins the ball back via interceptions, such is his anticipation of where the ball will go next.

Add to this a good mentality. He is a teetotal and has a good reputation from all his previous coaches. Physically he is big and will get stronger. He's not quick but has a decent acceleration and can take the ball past someone once in flow.

He Will improve. Lot to be excited about. A very "continental English midfielder" we have on our hands.

AZ

Great post, the boy is a real talent- but you do know you will get slated by some for being able to see beyond the Gerrard and Alonso lovers.

I totally agree with you mate i have always had faith in henderson and carrol give them another season and everyone will see a improvment

Mate I agree, he is going to be a great player for us, trouble is people never really look at him play and his strenghs, they pick up on mistakes, generally when the young lad was played out of position on the right. Then they will gompare him to gerrard or Alonso or Xavi at the peak of there game and just say he's crap get rid of him. I think if we go 3 in the middle it will be Luacs, Henderson and Gerrard. All 3 are good footballers, to be honest a lot better than their Swansea equivalents, it is the style of play they need to match/better now.
RNred

I agree as well. The lad has been possibly overplayed last season and too much burden put on his shoulders. Look at Lucas, he took several seasons to win the fans over and now look at him.

Did Jordan Henderson's mum write this post?

About time ive meet somebody else that thinks hendo is good and will be top class.... ive been saying it for so long now and people just laugh at me.... he is good now and will be top class soon enough #dave

He's a very good player and let's hope when he becomes a great player it's with us. All these people bitching are the same ones who bitched about Lucas and we all know how that turned out.
The hat.

I'm not saying for one minute he's the next Gerrard, but he hashas a lot of qualities very similar to SG at the same age. Gerrard didn't really stick out in his early years but was a regular starter, got stuck in & had huge amounts of energy.
If Hendo can take on board some of SG & not be afraid to shoot on goal when he had the chance, then I think we have a real player on our hands.

Gav the Red

Henderson had been made England U-21 captain for a reason. He is around a good player. People say that Cleverly is better than Hendo, in what bloody way??. Cleverly can't even prove his DAMN fitness if his life depended on it!!. Cleverly is just some pretty boy who fans have hyped because he is from Man Utd. Hendo will definitely be regular with England if he can just improve his shooting and playing skills a little. Ok he is not on three same level as Wilshere yet but he sure as hell is better than the likes of Cleverly. Btw i also get the feeling that Kelly will be a great Centre Back if given a chance!!. Roy Hudson proved that it is not about you but about the future. From Liverpool and England perspective, Carroll, Kelly, Henderson and i would also like to include Robinson as our representatives....

I like the post I hope it's right Henderson got some stick last season and some may say rightly so as he was poor but the fact is that this is a young player who made a big money move to one of the biggest clubs in the world and the pressure may have been to much and add to this he was playing out of position on the right when everyone knows the lad is not a winger so I think next season we will see a better Henderson one who is playing in is strongest position and playing under less pressure of being the new big money signing

Never mind his mum posting it, even his agent wouldn't write that much tosh. He is nothing like a continental midfielder, he has a big engine and plays neat football but nothing like the expansive football "rodgers told his friend" Nothing wrong with supporting the lad but that's just delusional. Go and lay down for a bit mate.

Henderson should never be mentioned in the same breath as xavi. i wouldn't have him selling match programmes at anfield, nevermind playing for liverpool

If he trully is a real talent why didn't united or city snap him up instead? Coz they seem to have the 'real talents' these days...

Agree with O.P. He looked a great prospect before he joined LFC but only showed glimpses of that promise last season.He under performed last season as did almost every player in the squad.Hopefully the new manager can get the best out of Jordan and the rest of them.
CR

He has potential, but saying he has the passing ability of Xavi, energy of Meireles and box to box right time "akin" of Lampard is stupid... I've watched him play in the under 21 tournament and at Liverpool and to be honest Suso has more ability than he does! Brendan Rodgers is no fool, if a player is struggling with the system he will do everything in his power to get the player playing the system, thats the way he is, I dont know him personally but my girlfriends brother does and told me all about him, he was made Captain of the reserves side at Reading by Rodgers and still keeps in regular contact with him.

Rocky

I Agree he is a player with alot of talent. I reckon him as a " STEADY EDDY" player. A player rearly plays great, but he never deliver a bad performance. He is stable through out the season.

Why didnt pappis cisse go to a big club? because newcastle found him first

You've described him as a "Jack of All Trades but Master of None" in other words Ordinary! Not a bad player but will never be World Class in million years!
kidmillions

Where to start on this one?

Firstly, put your crystal balls away for two minutes, there's only so far you can see into the future with any player. All this "Hendo will DEFINITLEY be an England regular etc" is just daft...
He's got a half decent touch, a good engine, and is obviously mature, that's about it... Obviously he COULD be top class, but the same massive leap of faith could be said about lots of promising young England players.
The massive price tag hasn't helped obviously.
Xavi? Really?
And whoever said Gerrard wasn't up to much at the same age as Henderson wasn't going to the same matches as me, at 20 Gerrard wasn't potentially a top player, he was undoubtedly a top player...
And the point about Tevez? Tevez went to city without Champions league football cos they paid him a staggering amount of money to be there, and started spending hundreds of millions on players that would obviously get them to the top in a very short space of time...we won't, and can't do the same.
Apart from that, some good points.

He will improve that is for sure but at the moment I'm not sure who I rate more Henderson or shelvey. Shelvey for me looks like the more confident player and really goes looking for the ball. What does everyone think?

Meirles had energy ! are you crazy or something

GET REAL

I think Shelvey looks more hungry and due to his desire loses composure a bit, Hendo looks a bit more composed and tactically disciplined.
Eddie P

Welcome to the site mrs.henderson jordan wont be happy you left out the film star looks bit!

Henderson is crap

Anyone that says Henderson is crap knows absolutely jack s**t about football , the lad is class and will prove all the idiots wrong and I include john Aldridge in that !!

Are you his brother?

To the guy who said why havent city and united snapped him up! well united had been intrested in him 2 years ago and we jumped the que and bought him quickly for a change!

De ja vu, this sounds like Lucas all over again. Have some faith lads. I dont know if he'll be Xavi, Lampard etc all rolled into one, he'll be his own man, but i reckon he could well be the first name on the team sheet in a few years.

Lets try and put some perspective on this one. Yes Henderson has potential, but he needs to step up in games and avoid getting bypassed. He obviously has skill (You Tube and Liverpool channel keepy-ups worth watching), but how much influence does he have on the game. To date he has not really shone in many games for Liverpool. I believe Henderson will be a top English player in years to come, however I would not mention him in the same breath as Xavi or Gerrard yet. It would also be naive to compare him to players of a different age bracket and style who have been recognised as world class footballers for a number of years. Give him time and hopefully he will step up. It would also be a good idea to protect the kid and take him out of the starting 11 if he is playing poorly. I don't think Dalgleish did that enough last season.

AdLFC

Hendo is neither crap nor class. Somewhere in between. He may come good - look at Lucas. I don't think anyone can say how he will turn out but he will never be crap imho. Watching him I get the impression he plays it safe and does not necessarily enjoy his football right now. Maybe that will change as he matures under BR and he HAS to play in the middle.

Pompey Red

I have yet to see what Henderson is particulary good at. Sure i think he will improve this season but i dnot see how anyone can see him being on the same level as Stevie G, Xavi etc ever

To me he just seems like an average player who belongs with a mid table premier league club. For him to be called in to the England squad was a joke to be honest and i am a Liverpool fan !

I have faith in Rodgers to bring in some quality but we have to give him 2 seasons to mould his own squad.

Why dont we just support the players we have instead of saying 'look at Utd,look at City'...remember form is temporary and class is permanent..back the club gents

Get rid of him. We dont need talent of the future, well not not as much as we need proven can play now talent. Way too many "may be goods" we need decent players! Our midfield is very poor for a club of our stature.

He's average, just like the rest of our disappointing squad. i'll be happy if we get 8th next season as i think there are currently 8-9 better squads in the PL than ours. Sorry boys but Hendo doesn't look to me like a top player and I agree with previous poster Gerrard already looked like a world beater at 20.

Anyone who says henderson is crap knows absolutely jack s**t about football, doesn't know jack s**t about football. He looks confused, is a below average passer, average at best shot, pitch awareness is below average, average ball handling skills. The signing was a reach and did nothing to improve the side at all. Settling for average players and hailing them as the next great is a defeatist attitude and one that will not get lfc back to the elite. I'm sure he is a fine person, but he would be better off at a club like Sunderland where average talent is acceptable

Oh dear, the above poster definitely belongs to the "mine one is bigger than your one" type of individual. And a classic case of not having an iota of ability to assess a player. I have to agree with previous posters that Jordan is unlikely to ever be flash, but then neither is Lucas, and look how important he is to us now after being written off by the "he's crap" brigade. He is above average for his age as already recognized by a whole heap of managers. QED

For the hard of learning - I repeat , anyone who says Henderson is crap knows jack s**t about football and needs to learn to form their own opinion instead of listening to clowns like Aldridge

I agree with post. Henderson will become much better once his possible nemisis steven gerrard has moved on and it may only be a couple of seasons before this happens. In the time between Henderson can learn from a master of midfield control and forward penertration only for his betterment.
And bytheway If a player for LFC is in the squad and is picked to play in a particular game they should be supported and not abused , the effect on them is not benifcial to their performance. It only makes them less confident . Not good for them and not good for the team.

Appreciate all the comments.

Just to reiterate, I never in any way said he is as good as Xavi, Meireles and Lampard. I merely suggested he had similar styles to each of them in respective ways.

And to the person who posted about Meireles having no energy. Go look at opta mate. In the 2010-11 season he covered the 5th amount of ground/match in the entire premier league. Go do one before you send me comments with no research.

AZ

To be honest, I am not a fan of Henderson. Admittedly, I may expect waaay too much too soon and may be a bit impatient for our lack of "success" the past few seasons. However, I support the players and hope that I am wrong about him and others. I'm looking forward to seeing what BR can do with this team.

Hey eds is it possible that brenden rodgers may not sign any player after assesing youngsters like morgan,suso,pacheo,shelvey etc.
red indian {Ed002's Note - I would doubt that would be the case.}

He has just done an interview saying he will be looking to bring in 3-4 players over the summer.

He hasn't just done an interview saying that - he said that a while ago but that has been referred to in recent interview - he just said whoever comes in has to be very good to improve the squad - I agree with red indian to some extent - Sterling and Suso to be more involved I reckon!

Youngsters will get some minutes in the early stages of the cup competitions. Do not expect them to feature regularly. Perhaps Sterling will be on the bench more often.

Pacheco was at the players meeting with Rogers this morning.

04 Jul 2012 09:20:57
Eds, now that sig seems to be signing for spurs is there any chance we could turn our attention to nicolas lodeiro of ajax? Keighley red {Ed002's Note - Parma and Bologna have shown an interest in Nicolas Lodeiro with Parma seemingly confident of signing the player.}

I doubt we could get a work permit, he hasnt played many games for the national side

04 Jul 2012 07:03:14
Hi eds, i understand interest in luuk de jong, soldado and rondon has cooled off so currently what strikers are being looked at/are in the mix to be signed by liverpool? {Ed002's Note - Soldado is certainly off the list. There are offers on teh table for De Jong from two other clubs. Rondon I am not sure about. Right now Pacheco is returning and Morgan is at the club - so an assessment of the squad will decide if they fit in anywhere. As I have said before, much will also depend on players leaving.}

Pacheco is at Norwich ... wont be returning ... everyone knows this .... {Ed002's Note - Everyone except me obviously.}

Ed y isn't soldado a option anymre ? {Ed002's Note - He has agreed to a new long term deal.}

04 Jul 2012 07:01:07
morning eds , im just wondering are we still looking at matt philipps from blackpool and as tom ince moved there permantly sorry about misspellings {Ed002's Note - There certainly was interest being shown in Phillips. We will see if it followed up reasonable soon as the players are returning to training.}

Excellent. Justwhat this club needs. A championship winger.

ED002 I was not trying to be a jerk with my response I just wanted to let you know that I do understand the basic finances in football I just don't understand how Man U and Liverpool can have such a gap in ability to pay for players. In my mind better players brings more money with greater sponsorship deals, larger international audience, etc. So with Man U's debt being equal to LFC's 30,000 less seats stadium and lack of CL I don't see why we cannot afford more expensive players and Man U can. I chose Man U because their business platform is similar to ours. Thanks.

Coley {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure you do. Manchester United turn over more than double what Liverpool do and are profitable. Liverpool make a loss like most clubs. Comparison of serviced and reducing debt compared to seating is not meaningful.}

What a suprise, ed002 on his/her high horse pretending like he/she knows more than everyone else. sigh. Debt at Man U mean anything to you ed? servicing that debt? might cost money? why are they risking an IPO? because they are so profitable? good grief {Ed002's Note - You have to be some sort of halfwit. Manchester United are turning over significantly more than Liverpool and are profitable and servicing theur debt. They are also comfortably cash rich. The original question was somehow trying to equate fewer seats at Liverpool to a serviced debt which is reducing. It was absolute nonsense but then out come the anonymous trolls again just to complain about me for giving an honest answer.}

Apparently they sell 25% more in terms of shirt sales also so use this calculation for all merchandise and that's significant.
Liverpool IMO have always been commercially weak, something that has changed for the better recently and I'm sure FSG have plans to capitalise on this and keep improving.
Like it or not football is a business & the books need balancing “ the club have had significant losses recently with £50m being written off due to stadium plans and consultation, £50m! That's just irresponsible and I can't see that happening again.
We need to trust our owners; they know what they are doing. {Ed002's Note - The money raised from selling shirts does not go to the club. Liverpool have done very well commercially in recent years with teh Standard Chartered deal brokered by H&G and teh recent Warrior deal put together by FSG.}

Perhaps the fact that ed002 does know what he/she is talking about..

Further to my last post:

"In March, Manchester United's parent company said it had made a loss of £108.9m in 2009-10. Red Football Joint Venture is the Glazer family parent company that owns the Old Trafford club."

Kind of makes that £29 mil profit the year later a little bit insignificant doesn't it.

Again in answer to the original posters question its more about how much money the club are willing to risk on a particular person or person(s) and whether as a business owner and not a fan it will improve or add value to the club signing these players.

My advice would be to wait and see how much money BR will have available and support the owners and the manager no matter what players are brought in. At the end of the day they are the professionals.

Sorry rant over.

RAH, YNWA {Ed002's Note - Putting aside the parent company MUFC made £100M operating profit before the amortisation that season. There really are no comparisons to be amde financially between the clubs/}

Ed002 I wasn't disputing that there are no comparisons between LFC and MUFC, however it is my fault I should have been more clear. What I was disputing was that MUFC are currently in a good position financially as there net profit was only £29.7 after reaching the final of the champions league and winning the premier league. I think you will probably find that United will make another loss at the end of the financial year even with their new deals with DHL etc. On top of this you also have the fact that MUFC interest rates on their debt is astronomical and in my opinion out right stupid.

Sorry rambling again. My point is MUFC are not really in a position to splash the cash but the Glaziers may be willing to take a risk signing top players regardless in the hope that they add value to the club. Especially with their expected flotation on the New York stock exchange.

RAH, YNWA {Ed002's Note - The loss made from a £100M operating profit was due to amitorising the players - that can only happen once. If you wish to discuss the finances at MUFC there pages are full of it but it remains of no relevance to Liverpool.}

04 Jul 2012 12:53:27
United made a £29.7 mil profit last year which was mainly due to winning the premier league and champions league final the year before.

might I also mention the year before they made a quite significant loss.

Add all this information in with the huge amount of debt they have and it shows that I am sorry ed002 you are wrong. not giving abuse just stating a fact.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14741758

the only reason United have at the moment more cash to spend on players is because their management are willing to risk more money on players on the belief the value of the club will rise having more valuable assets. Liverpool on the other hand are being more sensible which can be seen from what Henry & co have said up to date along with the fact that they are going to have to put funds in to either renovate Anfield or build a new stadium.

I am open to what anyone says about this and if you think im wrong I wont take it as abuse.

Also lay off the eds anyway they are not always going to be right but try and answer your questions as best they can. Its a very stressful job they have.

RAH, YNWA {Ed002's Note - What I am wrong about please.}

The last post was meant to be the first post ed002. Dont know how it happened but they are mixed up.

Again sorry ed I wasnt being clear. I wasnt saying your reply to the original poster was wrong when you said there is no comparison. I was merely saying your point that MUFC are "profitable" may not be accurate as at the end of the financial year they will probably be making a loss. On top of that I was then replying to the original poster that, it is more about what risks a club is willing to take when signing players etc rather than just the amount of revenue they receive. Sorry again for making it confusing hope thats cleared it up.

RAH {Ed002's Note - Fine.}

It's time we just face that united are a bigger club. We should just accept it.

Apologies Ed002. I just saw a red mist and replied straight off to your reply to me. I understand now from the subsequent answers that you don't understand big business finances so you think that ManU's debt levels vs revenue may result in a profit in face value. I hope that you can research properly and see the real situation in time. I apologise again for flying off the handle. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea where you have come up, certainly not from anything I have said but assume you will get tired of abusing me and go off and troll another site.}

Really ed002? pontificate from your ivory tower about how I am a halfwit and then complain about how you get abused? pot-kettle-black mean anything to you? about as much as the word debt probably. Nothing. Oh dont tell me, I am one of the new supporters who knows nothing of the club, rips on new players before they have joined the club and isw an embarrasment to LFC. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who you are as you don't sign your posts. If you believe the bizarre scenario that Liverpool and Manchester United are on equal terms financially because Manchester United's bond debt is offset by Liverpool having few seats then fine.}

Hi EDS, Great site.

Every single player we seemed to be linked with is apparently going to another club. Can you please tell us who you seriously think the club are after. We def need improvement and according to Macca, there will be money to spend.

Thanks EDS. ( SA RED ) {Ed022's Note - There is money to spend. From what I gather at the moment, there is solid interest in Vargas, Krasic, Ramirez, Sigurdsson, Luuk De Jong, Moses (god knows why) and perhaps Rondon, although I remain unconvinced at this time. I fully expect more players to be added to this list, however, until Rodgers asses the squad, then we are playing a tedious waiting game. Once the assessment is done, then things should kick off transfer wise.}

"Rodgers asses the squad"

I didn't realise they were that close already!?!

DaveH

Ed 022 If Rodgers is planning to "asse" all his squad then I'm not surprised we are struggling to find players that want to come

I bet the squad can't wait till Rodger's asses them.

When he asses them can we say the squad have been Rodgered ?!? Sorry I'll stop now

Ed most players you mentioned are really average joe's! If thats what we are aiming for there is no top 4 it willl be more
Like top 8. RedTurk

How is there possibly interest in vargas when he will be 29 in October and looking for a last big salary ?

I think it's a different Vargas (Can an ed state his first name. (thanks in advance)). The only players that I would mind arriving are Moses and Krasic (unless he improves his finishing and stops diving all the time). {Ed002's Note - Juan Manuel Vargas.}

Does RedTurk realise we won't sign Higuain or Cavani or Ozil etc? Because anyone who isn't them are crap according to him. Lord give me strength!
KiwiRed

It's seems according to some, gone are the days when a coach can make an average squad (on paper) win a league. Every player who is not a household name or had a good season/competition is now either average or crap in some people eyes.

Everyone has to be a Man City or Real Madrid and spend fortunes to succeed with 'big names'.

I say what a load of Rollocks, the coach picks the tactics and team and will know if a player fit's. If the tactics are wrong or the player they choose don't fit, it's their responsibility, it will take a bit of time to get right and with only 2 transfer windows a year, will take years. But I still believe a good manager, with some resource will beat an average one with lots, in the long run.

Its logical to think that you would look at what you got 1st before you buy, so I think we need to be patient.

04 Jul 2012 08:38:42
Hello Eds,
how about going for out of contract Rodallega?thanks {Ed022's Note - It is possible, as previous interest has been displayed. However, I cannot see it with Rodgers now in charge.}

Good!

He'd be better off going to a small club like Norwich, Reading or Everton

04 Jul 2012 05:35:29
Hello, I am new to this website! Lots of interesting rumours. But anyways, Ed002, What are the chances of Liverpool signing Gaston Ramirez? He is a quality player and I would love to see him in Liverpool Red!
Thank You! {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club but would not be at all surprised if a push was made to sign him particularly if someone leaves Liverpool. Ramirez was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial interest after having the player watched. Bologna will not now listen to offers less than 20M euros. However, it remains most likely that Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Palermo and Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Spurs, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. Discussions have taken place between Bologna and Manchester City, Napoli and Juventus. The talks with Juventus do continue and after Wolfsburg met with the player's agent talks are now being organised between Bologna and Wolfsburg. Gaston Ramirez's agent Pablo Betancourt has now also made it clear that Juventus and Wolfsburg are interested in his client and that he knows of no on going interest in the player from other Italian clubs.}

Hi eds,
Any chance for us signing Eriksen? A better alternative to sigurdsson imo. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen in the recent past. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. The Milan Press Office are convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expect a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for two more years before moving to Spain. Expect AC Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United.}

Haha not a chance

Eriksen will go to Barcelona or AC Milan in the next few seasons

Eriksen has himself said that he dreams of one day playing for Barca and I think he is good enought to do so.

I posted the below yesterday evening. I'm reposting in a hope to get a response from Ed02. I'm probably way off on her sources, but wanted to see that if reading and observation got me close to where her info comes from. I also would like a bit of a debate over everyone's feelings on BR and to ask for a little more patience.

All those asking for Macca, the Ed's or anyone supposedly in the know needs to rest a little. It's hard to have patience but BR has been in the job a matter or weeks, he hasn't been able to see his squad in action, let alone decide exactly what he needs.

Players such as Aquilani, Cole and Pacheco are returning and how I doubt they'll all be here come the start of the season, Rodgers will still want to see if they're committed to the cause and up to the job. He'll know young players like Sterling and Suso by reputation and perhaps seen them play a little, but he'll want to see first hand and not just take advise from others and reports.

I'm sure he'll know some glaring holes in our first 11, most notably a right winger, goal scoring midfielder/playmaker and perhaps a proven goal scorer or young pacy forward. But he may have some faith in Cole to play right wing, he may think Pacheco and Aquilani have something to offer, as does the much maligned Downing and Adam. Personally bar Downing (who had got scope to return to top form), I'd be happy if they all left along with a couple of others.

My feelings on the lack of confirmed targets by say Macca, highlight that he gets his info from a player(s), as his silence would explain things whilst players are away. His inside staff contacts may have left with Kenny and he won't know BR's new coaches. The Ed's (Ed02) in particular has a lot of contacts within football, people such as agents, scouts etc on that level probably above that too. She has fingers in a lot of pies and gains information from clubs willing to speak (getting word out about players) or agents (who never shut up) wanting to spread the word on their talent. This info will come in a variety of ways but with a new manager accessing his squad it's not so simple.

Press jump down previous linked Swansea players such as Dos Santos etc, but they fill Swansea's needs and not ours. They also go for the blanket approach. Liverpool need a forward, this one might be available, let's print that. They've been right on Sigurdsson as he's been available and it's been fair game for him to be spoken about. If we sign him (which I highly doubt now) then good. If we don't then so be it, we move on to plan B or alternative plan A. Rodgers probably though Sigurdsson would honour his agreement with Swansea, so must have another player in mind.

It's a hard process in summer, the Euro's filled a void but everyone is craving the premiership. Everyone gets so wrapped up in transfer this and player that, but don't remember the window has realistically been open a matter of days. Everyone complains that Chelsea have signed Hazard and United Kagawa, but they've been scouting them for over two years. BR may have kept an eye on players, but most likely with a view for Swansea. LFC scouts may have players in mind, but look what happened last summer and why we're trying to get lots of new scouts. These things will take time, BR will work hard with the board and in my opinion get it spot on.

I think we'll have a positive season, start to see clever disciplined football and not players snatching at every chance we have, like last season. If someone can unleash Carroll, get Suarez to focus and get Gerrard playing like he did in the Euro's consistently then that's half the battle. Add in a solid defence, an improved Pepe and a fit Lucas then you've got the makings of a great team. Three or four signings like BR said and we've got a shot of top 4, especially if RVP leaves Arsenal and AVB loses Modric and VDV. Hopefully we won't need that luck though.

If that's a little jumbled I hope you get the gist, it's tricky to write on an IPhone.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - There does not seem to be any particular question here Papa G. Hopefully the blown out of all proportion Sigurdsson situation will finally be put to bed today. As for other players related to Swansea, if Liverpool gave a commitment whilst agreeing compensation for Rodgers, then I am sure Liverpool will honour that agreement.}

Papa G. I have to commend you on your post, and suggest that ALL LFC fans read it and digest it. You make a lot of sense, let's all calm down just a bit and see what transpires.

Keep Adam; the rest including Downing and Carroll can go! Spend the monies from sales wisely.
kidmillions

I have watched Downing at 3 different clubs and he has never looked more than ordinary.He must be able to do better than last season but frankly I cannot see him improving much.
As you say, we just have to wait and see what the new boss thinks.
CR

Well said Mr. Papa, if you look back at downing's stats he have always perform better in his second season.

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate the feedback. It's only my opinion and I know plaers like Adam and Downing divide opinion.

The main point I was making was to ask for patience, I think BR will get it right but he needs time, both in the transfer window and with the players on the pitch.

With ED02, I was asking whether I got right where you get your information from. It's very interesting to me and it was just personal intrigue.

Cheers,

Papa G {Ed002's Note - I explained the other day where much information comes from - you should be able to find that message pretty easily.}

First team squad page has been taken down from Juve site for changes.

It may be to insert Suarez' name...

It's not for Isla and Asamoah either, they've been on it for a few days! {Ed049's Note - Pogba?}

Why would we sell sqarez for less than we paid for him the italians have got to look to be going after big names to appease their fans even though theyve got little funds

Site changes not squad changes you silly-billy

does amazon go offline every time they add a product? {Ed022's Note - Good analogy.}

They cant afford suarezs left leg so they can take down whatever they want they near ruined rushie in the 80s they aint getting suarez.Tommy Irish Red.

I posted it. It was a p**stake guys, they are adding players however as they've just signed Lucio, he's having his medical today.

Pogba has signed for juve

AC Milan after Andy Carroll?! {Ed049's Note - Is Ibrahimovic leaving?}

If they want him it should be at least 25 million

So long as we get enough money to buy Luuk De Jong. It's a deal!
kidmillions

Make sure they pay at least £35m for Carroll and Aquaman,and I would be very happy.Bring in some players to savour.

Be real. After our performance against Italy,I don't think any Italian clubs would be interested in English players.

Replace Carrol with De Jong are you serious?? In the right system Carrol would be a beast. We need to build a team around this guy not give up after one sub par season of playing him in a system that didn't suit him. I have every faith in Carrols ability I just hope BR does to.

Hi, I posted here earlier today and people took it too literally that I knew every 10,000 people in my town. Iceland is very different from most other countries. I don't know every person by a name, I know maybe 4,000 people in my town by their faces not their names. In my town everybody know everybody. Sigurdsson will end up at Tottenham.

Ed002 tracked my IP address and it says I'm in Reykjavík because that's the closest city and actually the only city in Iceland.

This will be my first true rumour that I post. Believe me

Reddie

Where's our business if you know 100000000people?
In macca we trust

I think you're right reddie. YNWA
JS

Well done: Actually it was confirmed last week that he was going to Tottenham. I think when he had a medical that made it pretty obvious!!

Thats a real ice breaker didnt know he was linked to spurs at all anymore news let us all know asap.

As I said yesterday Reddie, most are beyond caring. We've all moved on.

I got a mate who plays football in Iceland and actually knows sigurdsson and apparently he will be signing for spurs tomorrow, believe me or not it's up to u I'm just going on what he's told me, so i think we can forget bout sigurdsson!

Thanks for telling us the obvious

Good! stop having to read about who he is joining.some players make me laugh it's not about being the best anymore it's about getting that extra 10,000 grand a week football is all about greed. Oh well at least it won't cost us money to have his name on a shirt

No need for attitude I was just saying what I was told, it's never obvious until the player has actually signed because the swans had an agreement with him and he ended up signing for spurs all because Rodgers left. Like most players all they care about is the money.
