Ok, Liverpool Echo just this second reported that the release clause of £75M has been met by Barca. Same is reported on BBC but I trust the Echo and this is their story not reproduced.

Here's hoping.

Actually the price now agreed seems to be €80m (£63.4m approx) with no players or add ons. significantly lower than most figures reported.

05 Jul 2014 08:59:39
The transfer fee is payable over 5 years, typical for this type of transfer

05 Jul 2014 09:16:41
As much as what I stated above. it is all only based upon reports and so I can see why Ed002 gets frustrated talking about money because so many contradictory things get reported. I hope the amount (if correct) actually also does involve add ons or at least the loan of a player next season with first option to buy.

I've read €75m & £75m. Are we sure which it is?

Hi Ed.
One Colombian player that have impressed me is Fiorentinas Cuadrado. Is he availeble and do you know if any teams follow him? What about Liverpool?

Believable6 Unbelievable17

{Ed001's Note - he is being tracked by Barca, I know that much.}

Another Colombian made Neymar look like an average player is James Rodríguez, if this kid carry on with this progress, he will be one of the all time best.

Hi eds. Fantastic job as always!
was just wondering what the situation is with cuenca and tello? I remember a while back we were linked with them, tello more so.
Also what about bojan? Any truth that rodgers in interested in bringing him in?
Cheers lads.
YNWA

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - I don't know about Cuenca, but Tello is available for transfer. Not heard of any interest in Bojan.}

Cuenca has been offered to a number of teams as part of a deal for various players, but has told Barca his preferred destination is Real Sociadad.

Edd002 can I ask please mate.how.much barca are seeking for sanchez, without exact figures, is it more than 30million pound?

Believable5 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - As a special treat Al, the asking price has not waivered from €40M. That was the issue Juve had.}

Awk I feel special! Haha thanks.mate

I'm confused, Ed

{Ed001's Note - don't worry we all go through it, you will just have to experiment with both men and women until you are sure which way you are inclined.}

Here's hoping to ongoing talks between Barca and Liverpool being about how much they will pay on top of Sanchez!

Agree2 Disagree0

Respect Ed for putting the price. now waits for question - how much is that in £ for Ed's to say we don't talk finances ;o)

The ed's are on form lol

Did Ed002 just discuss finances? I jumped off my seat reading it. here's hoping it's the start of a new trend.

-How much do Southampton want for Lovren?
-What is the release clause in Suarez's contract?
-How much do Bayern want for Shaqiri?
-Finally. what is Rojo's valuation please?

Spanish reports state an agreement on the fee for luis Suarez has been made (75m euros, not that you like to discuss money though). Can you confirm or deny this?

Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - I can tell you that the figure you mention is half way between what Liverpool was asking (a termination clause) and what Barcelona were looking to pay. Subject to a little agreement on detail, there has been the basis of a conclusion to the whole ugly affair of Luis Suarez.}

Why if we value the player at 80 million pounds would we sell for 75 million euros?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why would you think that was what the club wanted - you are making up numbers.}

04 Jul 2014 20:08:53
These figures are wide of the mark. Liverpool are still waiting for his buyout to be triggered.

Agree4 Disagree1

Ssn are making up the numbers, not me.

Agree1 Disagree0

If the figure is half way then the 10m that was the difference (as one of the ed's posted yesterday or a few days ago) would mean Barcelona want to pay 70m Euros and Liverpool want 80m Euros (£63m).

Yes I think he's worth £80m but with a 4 month ban and 2 year ban for a repeat offence means our hands are tied slightly.

Still trebling your money (ish) on a player that cost over £20m to begin with isn't too bad (especially given the issues).

Thanks for the honesty Ed.

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed the same Spanish reports also said that barca are close to finalising the sale of Sanchez. Is this also true and if it is do you know who to.
Thanks

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - they aren't yet mate.}

04 Jul 2014 21:49:24
Just read on BBC Sport web page that Barca have told LFC they're willing to meet the £70M+ release clause amount for Suarez

Link --> www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28112887

Agree1 Disagree0

Looks closer to £80m or €100m
Looks like BBC were correct £60m plus Sanchez

Agree1 Disagree1

Is it true we accepted the 70 million for Suarez so we get the first refusal on Sanchez?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no.}

05 Jul 2014 06:21:12
Numbers are fun to make up. Ed002, what is your release clause?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Ed002 is priceless! But, if anyone wants to offer £100m it would just about match the release clause.....}

05 Jul 2014 06:18:28
Ed002, forgetting what he does actually go for in the end may I ask your personal view on it please? The club will sell for what they think is right but with your experience and knowledge do you think in today's market £60M is about right? I find it hard to tell with Bale's fee, Falcao and Rodrigez supposed fees. Everyone has gone mad with daft prices and I trust the club to do things diligently, I just get curious about how people see things differently.

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the fees others are sold for. Liverpool will get the best price that they can for the player.}

05 Jul 2014 07:12:02
Aside from the result of disposing of Suarez, how do you feel Liverpool representatives conducted themselves and do you think they achieved their desires results?

Believable3 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - No.}

04 Jul 2014 19:20:36
My best friend is a Chilean restaurateur in Miami who in turn is good friends with Alexis Sanchez' uncle (who is a Miami resident) . The uncle has said Sanchez has verbally agreed to join Arsenal. They are finalizing contractual details which are a formality. The uncle also said Liverpool were desperate to sign him but he Sanchez was never interested in playing for us. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we have to put this snub into perspective. He's only one player and maybe Rogers has a viable alternative. I hope so. let's congratulate the Gooners on their capture and move on

Believable17 Unbelievable80

Absolutely.

He won't be the first great player we have missed out on (Laudrup, Keane, Ronaldo, Silva, etc), and he won't be the last.

There are other players out there. Life goes on.

I've had it on good authority from a connection in Seattle that we've bid £7.5m for wonder kid Yedlin. Can you confirm?

Believable7 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - My birth city, but no, sorry. I know nothing of a bid from Liverpool.}

04 Jul 2014 19:24:14
I know they were from Aberdeen, but there wouldn't be a Nirvana without the influence of the music scene in that City.

Oh yeah, a certain REM were decent also.

Forget your Memphis, it would be Seattle all day for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

He has had one good World Cup game, that I've seen, never seen him play in the league though. Is he a wonder kid?!

Agree1 Disagree1

Er what about Jimi Hendrix, Bill Frisell, Mudhoney and Sunn O)))?

Agree1 Disagree0

Aren't REM from Athens, Georgia? The young right back did look a decent prospect when he came on.

Agree1 Disagree0

We should have an American in the team. This kid will do. Looks an outstanding prospect, if the USA-Belgium game is anything to go by.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is very raw, the MLS coaches and commentators etc all thought Klinsmann mad for taking him. For me, it just shows why the MLS is poor, that a good technical player, who is also blessed with blistering pace, is seen as an odd choice to take to the World Cup!}

Seattle is an amazing city. I liv 4 hours up the road so try to get there as often as I can

Is it true that Valbuena is available for £7 million? If so, do any Eds know if there's interest from any PL sides?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Fiorentina, Seville, Zenit, Arsenal and Newcastle have enquired about Valbuena's availability but it is Fiorentina and Valencia who have made offers for the player and a chance remains of a player-exchange with Valencia. Marseille are willing to sell this summer and have Batshuayi as a replacement. Marseille have not been approached by West Ham at this time but Marseille are available of interest.}

04 Jul 2014 17:03:25
Ed's is there any chance of us getting either benzema, higuain or both once Suarez goes? I highly rate both these players and they're at the ideal age (26) with plenty of years ahead but enough experience to not make the mistakes of youth. We're obviously going to need goals and with these two and our current squad we may be asking 'Suarez who?' By christmas

Believable2 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "any chance" questions. Sorry.}

Allow me to rephrase, have we shown any interest in either of these two? And has there been any interest from other teams?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - From elsewhere yes, from Liverpool no.}

Ed001, do you think we will sign lovren?
Also do you think the current bid will be acceptable, the 'reported' 18 million bid, or will we have to pay more?

Also, is Moreno deal completely off now? I really don't see the point in signing Bertrand, he's a good enough player but he's not really a step up to what we have

Thanks

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I don't know where he will end up, but it does look certain he will leave Southampton.
Right now the Moreno deal is just left on the table but we are looking elsewhere.}

Read today that another bid is imminent and could be enough as the player wants champions league

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed001,
Could Liverpool be waiting for the Suarez money to go through before they spend big money on these tranfer targets?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, we won't get the Suarez money up front.}

04 Jul 2014 14:37:52
Looks like we are stepping things up in regard to capturing Lovren and have made an official bid. Hearing we have bid £16m but ssn are saying £18? He could form a great partnership with Sakho and firm up our shaky back line.

04 Jul 2014 15:10:50
Ed am I right in saying this was yesterdays news ir is it a fresh offer since then?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - we are still keen to sign him mate. It is not dead and buried yet.}

I got this from someone & it goes along these lines!

Trix, I know somebody spoke to southampton on tuesday, at the moment they are asking for silly money, he wants to come (spurs) but at the moment the deal isn't even close

Dont know anything spurs end but the exact words were this, he h(lovren ) has put in a transfer requestand is yet to exert any pressure, he wants to come and work with poch and he will start playing up shortly if southampton don't move!
Then it goes on about spurs doing a deal for j rod even though he is injured that price

Agree0 Disagree5

I have a feeling we will eventually end up with Lovren. well last season we've had our S's do us proud. Somehow this season (L)iverpool are getting (L)allana, (L)amber, and (L)ovren from Southampton. oh what coincidence.

Agree2 Disagree1

The matches I have seen him play with both Croatia and Southampton he has the same frailties all our other centre backs have, he drops too deep, personally, it's a waste of money to me

Agree3 Disagree2

I agree can't believe we are in for him. how many centre backs do we need .its all about consistency. could see him have a couple of mistakes then spending time on the bench.

Eds, I see many 'rumours' we're interested in ballotelli. Please tell me there is absolutely no truth in this. I think he has talent, but he's a horrible team player and I really don't want to watch him pout around the field week after week when he's not on form. Or hear about his antics off the field.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I have heard nothing about us being interested other than paper talk being repeated across the sites.}

I actually think Ballotelli could prove to be an inspired signing if we did go for him.
Theres no doubting his ability, he's right up there with some of the best in the world, but his tempremant and disciplinary record is severely suspect.
BUT, he is running out of chances, he's played for some big clubs already and has had problems at all of them.
One thing Rodgers has shown is he has great man management skills. He turned a sulky Sturridge into the best English striker in the league.
He took Saurez, who frankly at times was a liability, and turned him last year into a player that had no disciplinary problems and was worthy of the vice captaincy (and no co-incidence that as soon as he was outside of Brendans control he reverted to type).
Even Sterling, transformed from stroppy teen into thoughtful, mature player.
I have faith in Rodgers, Ballotelli knows he is running out of chances, and if Brendan thinks he can calm the beast, and is succesful in doing so he could be a great asset.

Agree1 Disagree3

Seems like a huge risk to bring a player with so many problems into the team and hope Rodgers can work the same magic on him. If it doesn't work out it could be a disaster. Would much rather benzema higuain or both over ballotelli.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree . he could be an inspired signing. excellent score record . he's young and think the Liverpool way could make him feel party of a family. but 28m is a lot to risk but could replace the suarez goals

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jul 2014 13:38:25
Heard from a very good source that Rodgers is looking to strike a double deal for Shaqiri & Mandzukic from Bayern for a reported fee of 35million for the two. Loveren is a target but aren't prepared to pay over 20million for his services. Liverpool will also step up their interest in Ryan Bertrand. Talks are also continuing with Benfica over the transfer of Lazar Markovic which could see Suso join Benfica on a season long loan.

Believable33 Unbelievable49

04 Jul 2014 20:53:17
Mandzukic would be. Not logical at all. Nowhere near Suarez in his style of play, more like another Lambert. Maybe a slight improvement on him, but not worth it. Shaqiri on the other hand would suit us just fine. Think Rodgers will go back to his preferred 4-3-3 formation, or 4-5-1, with Sturridge as center/lone forward. The splash-o-cash should be towards a left forward, like Sanchez, Griezmann or someone like that.

Agree1 Disagree0

Mandzuckic had gone to A.Madrid £14m

Hi Ed

First time poster, long time reader.

Just wondered if we'd ever shown interest in DiMaria? I see rumours today that he's being offered round some other clubs in the EPL?

For me I hope we reinvest the potential Suarez money in 1 or 2 proven world class players as opposed to what Spurs did last year.

To end up with DiMaria, Sanchez and some loose change would be an ideal scenario for me.

Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, thankfully. Not sure why anyone would want a player that passes the ball to opposition players more often than to his team mates!}

I thought his latest poor performance in the WC was an exception rather than the norm but fair enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, he is very hit and miss. Madrid tried to offer him to Spurs in part-ex for Bale (hence his very funny, unless you are a Spurs fan, comments about being disappointed), they have been happy to let him leave for a while. He is their equivalent of Nani, clearly has ability, but just displays it extremely rarely.}

Thanks Ed, I'll search for his Spurs comments for a giggle.

Perhaps I've not seen enough of DiMaria to make a full enough judgement but I still hope the club invest in one or two players of real quality to improve the first 11 rather than 4/5 'squad players'.

Time will tell.

Agree1 Disagree0

Well ED001 I am afraid we do have a player that passes the ball to the opposition more often than his team mates and his name Glen Johnson. The sooner we are rid of this liability the better. YNWA

Agree2 Disagree1

04 Jul 2014 17:46:03
Ed0001, a player who passes the ball more often to the opposition? How about top passer in Primera Division with 17 assists? Get your facts straight.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was a joke, after his performance in the last game, get your head out of your backside. Oh and that is not the top passer, that is having the best players to pick out in front of you. Now get your facts straight, and give it a rest. You are typical of the mouth almightys that pull idiotic, context-missing stats out of their rectum to try and prove they know more than everyone else. All it does is show you have no idea what the stat actually means.}

Ed001, honestly, I don't think you joked about it, espescially 'cause you compared him to Nani in your second post. And even if you joked, I told you a simple fact on a calm tone. I certainly didn't say about your opinion that is "personic and pulled out of your rectum", so I think you're the one who should give it a rest. But I guess that's how threat people on this site who have an opinion, with offensive language.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - telling me to get my facts straight was extremely rude. Perhaps you should understand that comparing him with Nani was nothing to do with the previous point at all. It was a totally separate post, saying how he has ability but can't use it, how is that connected to a joke? Do you understand what a joke is? It is like having to deal with five year olds at times on here, you make rude comments and then get all whiney and offended when we aren't all nicey nice back. Get over it. If you don't like it, try using manners in future, and then you won't get treated with the same disrespect you show others in return.}

04 Jul 2014 11:14:31
Lambert to be given no7 shirt (no surprise when that becomes available).
BUT just heard Can will be given no10 shirt.
Anyone you know interested in Coutinho Ed?
Thanks in advance.

Believable2 Unbelievable29

{Ed001's Note - there is interest but I don't know of him being close to a move. He might have asked to change. Quite a few players will do so, if they feel they have had bad luck in a particular number.}

Ed01 which teams are looking at Coutinho, can't see us selling him as he can be a game changer, at least not on the cheap.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - AC Milan were keen.}

I'd heard a little while ago that A.Madrid were keen but not sure how keen.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe Coutinho will wear number 7 next season, Can 10 and Lambert 9

Agree2 Disagree0

Be great to see Cou in a No.7 shirt. Think he'll step up now

Agree1 Disagree0

Coutinho will wear 7. It was his number at inter and something which he has requested at Liverpool.

Eds any truth that we can expect the Suarez deal to be completed in the next 48 hours?

Believable18 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - how can anyone possibly know that? One little detail can hold up a contract for an unlimited amount of time. It would just be a guess.}

And why do you need to know that? If this come true, all the medias will shout it, the whole world will hear about it. I can't understand the passion of some people and their desire to know what will happen days ago.
Do you think your life will be better if you know whether Suarez will be sold after 2 days or 2 weeks? He's on his way out, mate, realize it, stay calm and keep walking! We are Liverpool, God damn it!

Agree0 Disagree1

Iv your not interested in knowing things in football before they actually happen, why in gods name are you on a rumour site, god damn

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep Suarez feeder clubs win nothing. Yeah we got rid of Torres but didn't really progress at the time. Don't swap add Sanchez

Agree1 Disagree2

04 Jul 2014 14:10:36
@Rossy1lfc, noone knows our transfers before they actually happen, even in this site. We're discussing interest in one guy or another, events that there's a possibility to happen. But as you see, even insiders like Macca can't tell you what will surely come true.
As I asked before, what's the difference for you if a player will be sold in the next 2 days or in the next 2 weeks, for example?
"Oh, look at me! I know Suarez will NOT be sold on Tuesday. We'll sell him on Monday. How great am I!"
I visit rumours site not because guys like Eds, who can tell you in any moment anything about scouted players and formal offers - it forms in my mind at least a superficial glance about our transfer strategy. "Who" - that's important, but not "when".

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2014 06:54:15
I rarely get info so take this or leave it, but I've been told (albeit a journo friend so reliability?) that talks went far better than expected today between us and Barca, and both sides are closer to a deal than reported.

But Baarca are favouring including Sanchez as part of a deal (approx. 45 and sanchez) and have therefore agreed NOT to accept any offers for Sanchez from others clubs during these negotiations, in the hope he can be encouraged to join Liverpool. I hope this is true as I really think the lad can play.

The rest of our transfer activity would then resolve around selling players while targeting Lovren and Rojo (who I am certain is our number 1 LB target but this will tke a while due to his World Cup involvement and does explain why we are not worrying about the Moreno deal staling), with the possibility of signing Shaqiri also (who I think would add a great deal to our side).

Hope this was useful (and I hope its turns out to be reliable),
Thanks, Ryan

Believable77 Unbelievable33

Sanchez, lovren, rojo and shaqiri.
If they were to be pulled off then what a transfer window we have had when you include lambert, can and lallana.
Apart from Suarez, would have to expect a few players to leave. Coates, Toure, aspas, maybe agger, maybe Lucas, maybe borini.

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Jul 2014 14:28:59
All barca have to do is put a 50 mill price tag on sanchez, that should stop everyone like arsenal in their tracks. Its a fictitious price which can be added to price for suarez. simples!

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Sanchez doesn't want to leave or leave for Liverpool. then not so simple

03 Jul 2014 23:03:41
Hi eds

As you've been saying for a while, the Echo claim we've had a bid rejected for Lovren. However, they say Southampton are 'refusing to negotiate' or something like that. In your experience, what does this mean? Is it perhaps Koeman wants to get to know his players first before he can judge how much he would accept for him?

Also, I know I asked this a couple of weeks ago- but have we renewed interest recently in any centre backs other than Lovren? Finally, are reports that we are close to signing Bertrand accurate or premature-ie we have not bid yet?

Thanks!

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - The thing is to get around the table. There is also interest from Spurs. Southampton will want to regroup. It could well happen.}

04 Jul 2014 02:27:07
The stuff some people post is just so ridiculous sometimes. He needs to get to know his players better? So what he needs to go on a dinner date to find out how much lovren is worth?

Agree0 Disagree3

I would have thought that it would be chief exec or at least someone above the manager who puts a value on a player.
Managers May decided who they want or some players they want to sell, but the money aspect will be dealt with by others.
