Hi eds I have seen reports that we are close to a deal to sign Alex Bogdan is there any truth?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no way to determine "close" but I explained that there has been interest.}

04 Jun 2015 20:45:11
Is he out of contract this summer and thanks for the reply again ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - He is.}

04 Jun 2015 21:34:45
Looks to be the very best Hungarian ginger goalkeeper playing in england there is.

05 Jun 2015 11:12:32
Haha, nice one dwarf.
Seriously though, can we not do a bit better than Bogdan?
Eds is there any chance we could still get Patricio?

{Ed002's Note - See previous answers.}

04 Jun 2015 16:55:12
Hi era. Are the recent comments by Bacca's agent a ploy to get a better contract or is there interest in moving? If so would we have any realistic chance?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know what his agent has said but don't hold your breath for a move to Liverpool. Whilst Monaco, Roma, Spurs, Lazio and Inter (not Milan) have expressed an interest in Bacca, the player says he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has. His agent has mader unsolicited approaches to two English sides, including Arsenal.}

04 Jun 2015 19:55:08
Kovacevic has been asked by a member of the coaching staff how he feels about a move to England. I'm not saying we'll sign him because this happened about a year ago as well. He has defintely been asked though.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

05 Jun 2015 09:51:35
Coaching staff of whom? Croatia, Inter or some sort of third party?

Ed2 sorry to be a pain in the neck but did you say on gks its now between bogdan whos out of contract i believe and marshall to replace jones? Apologies if i'm mistaken.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Certainly there has been interest in Bogdan and I understand that Liverpool approached the agent of Marshall to see if he would be interested - I don't know if the has been an approach to Cardiff at all.}

04 Jun 2015 15:03:31
Ok brlliant thanks ed. It would seem the club are trying to live within their means by trying to get in some replacements without spending much i.e ings,milner poss bogdan/marshall. Then look to move on others to have some money to spend.

We need a goalkeeper who has played for big clubs in big stadiums. I'm not bashing, just saying the likelihood of Bogdan being able to cope is lower than someone like Patricio.

Hello Eds.

Is there any interest in luuk de jong from liverpool?

THANKS

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - not any more.}

04 Jun 2015 10:23:56
Ed001

You have previously mentioned that in your opinion, Higuain may not be out of reach as a possible transfer target.

Have the club registered there interest in the player with the Napoli officials, with a view to dicussing with the player if he would be interested in coming to Liverpool, via the clubs representitives and agents?

If so do you know what Napoli's / Higauin's initial response was?

Thank you advance

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware has anything happened regarding him yet.}

04 Jun 2015 12:28:40
Are you expecting the club to declare interest Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - nope.}

04 Jun 2015 14:15:03
He'd be perfect but will probably end up elsewhere.
The club should be going all out to get a top striker like him who could really compliment a fluid passing system while also adding an extra dimension of threat. Benteke is not that striker.

Any news on Clyne??

Believable1 Unbelievable2

04 Jun 2015 10:52:56
Liverpool need to increase their offer significantly for Southampton to consider selling him to a rival club!!

Milner signed subject to medical good move I think personally, versatile and is a grafter

Believable31 Unbelievable3

04 Jun 2015 10:48:33
We need some quality players in midfield.
Milner he is just a back up player. We need this kovacic

Agree2 Disagree1

04 Jun 2015 11:23:28
Milner won't be a back up player. He will be a major player in a more central role next season. Why leave man city if that wasn't going to be the case?!? I guess Milner, Henderson and Can will most likely feature in the central areas!!
Milner is a similar characher to Henderson with more experience.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 11:29:36
Sorry but you seem to know nothing. The only reason Milner signed for us was to start games and he is a very good player and a decent replacement for a 35 year old Gerrard. But where would you play Kovacic, Coutinho, Henderson AND Milner? And that's assuming the other midfielders we have won't get near the team. We need to strengthen other areas so much more.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 12:01:40
This all brings back memories of Joe Cole's move to Liverpool. A player in his latter years moving from a league rival (where he is not good enough to hold a starting position in that team) to us on a, no doubt significant pay package and signing fee.

Look he is a grand player and all that but I really don't see the point. seems to me he has been signed as a replacement for Stevie, who was no longer regarded as a first 11 starter by BR.

Agree1 Disagree5

04 Jun 2015 12:45:39
Much better player to have in starting line up that Gerard imo. Obviously not when Gerard was in his prime but he is not a shadow of the player he was as we have all seen in the last two seasons. Great signing if you ask me and him him hendo and coutinho would be the first the names on the team sheet every week if you ask me. Milner is proven prem talent why waste money on a foreign player who may struggle after being brought in for a substantial fee. Nice start to the transfer window let's hope we see a quality striker follow him through the door. Y.N.W.A

04 Jun 2015 13:11:42
We have bigger issues to fry in the team YET we are buying a player who will NOT light a spark in our team. Milner is just another Henderson as in, a grafter and a hardworker. Where does that leave Can? can is more skillful and just as hardworking as he is so why did we sign him on big wages? Baffling!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The standard "Welcome to Liverpool" by the fans then.}

04 Jun 2015 13:25:03
Delighted with this signing , will improve our starting 11 and can play in a few different positions. Welcome to Liverpool James.

spot on Ed002 . I'm sick of hearing how we have the best fans in the world when all they do is slag off players before we've even signed them . They slagged off Gerrard when he might of joined Chelsea they slagged off Rodgers after hailing him as the messiah a year before they berate a young gifted player who wants to win things by changing clubs in Sterling. The abuse they gave him at the last game was disgraceful . Well done lads that will make him want to stay . If we really want to be known as the best fans in the world . Back the team no matter what song as loud as we can at EVERY game and show a bit of humility and grace hen someone decides to move on. YNWA JFT 96

think milner is a brilliant signing on the however sterling is a bit different he said he would wait so he could consentrate on the cup but played the rest of the season like he had already left that's what made people angry

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 15:38:31
Great signing who finished off this last season very strongly. Makes the first team better in my opinion and brings a bit of steel to midfield.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 18:53:41
Good player but I have no idea how we're going to make 16 midfielders or whatever we have happy in terms of game time.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jun 2015 01:03:48
Gerard, Allen, Hendo vs hopefully Milner, Hendo and Coutinho/Can. would definitely go with the latter now that Stevie G is no longer in his prime.

Great signing and very pleased to see more experience/quality added to midfield.

Kovacic I'd love to see join but only if we sell Allen. Priority is fixing the FB and striker (please not Benteke at 32mln!) positions now and figure out Sterling (hopefully a swap for Walcott!)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jun 2015 07:44:45
Not Walcott please!

05 Jun 2015 12:15:54
Some of the attitudes toward the Milner signing are sickening and just plain stupid. For starters, the comparison to Joe Cole is ridiculous. Cole was a crock, Milner is one of the fittest player in the Premier league and City really wanted to keep him.
And "just another Henderson?" What!?
Even with just the signing Milner we already have a good looking midfield if a diamond is used. Can, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 09:41:18
Can any of the eds explain this to me?

Are we going for kovacic as well as milner "who we already signed now.

Isnt both of them best as central midfielders?
What is brendan smoking exactly if we actually got kovacic as well?

Plz correct me if i'm wrong!

Thanx

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Milner has generally played on the right. I suspect a more central role is what he prefers. Kovacic makes little sense unless someone were to leave.}

04 Jun 2015 10:04:17
Eds,

Any personal opinion on Milner yourselves?

I think he is a decent all rounder but similar to Henderson. I think he would also want his position on the right centre of the midfield. Just not sure it was a necessity

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not beyond what has been said before.}

04 Jun 2015 10:35:49
Rodgers played 7 centre mids against Stoke, that clearly wasn't enough to control the game so we need more, cough cough

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 13:14:00
Exactly, Sean! The guy is obsessed with midfeilders and ball circulation to the point that scoring and defending seems to be of no relevance. No wonder we can`t score are conceding on average near 50 goals a season

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 14:57:09
It seems to me that this is the same obsession that landed Chelsea the title. nothing wrong with a strong midfield. Provides better protection to the defense and better support to the attack.

Hi eds, long time reader, first time poster. Has the club ever had an interest in Cristian Ansaldi? He'd be a decent signing, a solid attacking full back and can play both sides. he's only on loan at Atletico as far as I know. Do you know of any potential interest, if not from us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool. There has been interest from various clubs in the passed but nothing I am aware of right now.}

04 Jun 2015 06:16:46
Eds,

William Carvalho, very expensive and there are bigger teams looking at him but is there any interest? We desperately need strength in this lightweight team.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool looked at the player at the start of last year but I am not aware of any interest right now.}

04 Jun 2015 14:59:42
Bigger team than Liverpool. ?
Bigger spend does not equate bigger team.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 20:17:35
There are probably 3 teams you can say are bigger. But every team in the top 10 of biggest teams haven't gone 25 years without winning the league. How big would we be if we won it?

What's the situation with Onazi?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed at all.}

04 Jun 2015 15:22:13
Sorry but I cannot find were we stood in regards to him in the past, are we just monitoring him? Is he not considered ready or is he not available at the moment?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ogenyi Onazi has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Hertha Berlin and Ajax in the past 9 months and has been subject to being scouted by a number of clubs including Spurs and West Ham. If there is recent interest from Liverpool then I cannot confirm it. This sounds like a recycled story from more than a year ago when Liverpool did look to the player. I cannot imagine what use he would be to the club now after the summer arrivals.}

Alright Ed's,

Hope all is well.

Apologies if this has been answered as I've not seen it anywhere, but has there been any movement on the departures of Lambert or Borini?

Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - there has been interest in Borini, he was waiting to see who was manager for next season before making any decisions, as he is desperate to prove himself with us, so I would expect him to pack his bags and return to Italy now. Lambert is unlikely to go anywhere.}

04 Jun 2015 02:17:38
If Ings and another striker are signed Lambert would never even get on the team sheet

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 05:58:38
I have no problem whatsoever with Lambert staying. He's a good , loyal squad member who will work hard for the club. I'd be more than happy if he stays as long as he realises he won't b e the first name on the team-sheet

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he signed knowng he was not going to be first name on the team sheet, though I am sure he expected a bit more than the odd dying seconds of a game.}

04 Jun 2015 07:52:34
And he does look like staying then mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he wants to.}

04 Jun 2015 08:59:08
Didn´t Lambert try to push through a move to Aston Villa in january?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Lambert turned down offers in January.}
