Ed001 you have said we are looking at right backs and have been since last summer.

However the Sharkopod only referenced left backs, and Pereira who can play on both sides.

Is it basically Pereira or nobody? Or are there other targets you haven't mentioned. Perhaps even the chance of signing 2 left backs and moving Milner to right back?

Just curious as there is a good chance Arnold's long term future is in midfield or out wide. So if Clyne was replaced it would need to be a player for the immediate future and preferably long term.

Sorry if it has been answered but I can find nothing on the boards or the sharkopods.

{Ed001's Note - Pereira is a right back who can play left. He is the main target for right back, with TAA and Milner as cover. The priority is left back this summer, right back is seen as secondary. I really do not know of any other option right now for the right back berth. I will ask and see if it is a bit like Chilwell last season or if there are others being scouted.}

Does this mean Clyne's being pushed out? RB is a position we can improve significantly by replacing Clyne with Periera.
The link up between Periera and Mane will be deadly.

Hey ed01, hope you are having a good day!

A question in a similar vein - we are being strongly linked to recruitements in CB and CM, which is kind of understandable with european footie coming next season. Now, it is by no means certain that new players will arrive in those positions, but IF that happens, which members of the current squad would in your opinion be most in danger of being dropped to the bench, or moved on? of course, best case scenario will just see increased competition and rotation, and starters being selected on merit, but I am very curious what the current hierarchy is, so to say.

{Ed001's Note - not yet, but the clubs likely to be interested are those in the lower half of the Prem. If I had to put money on it though, it would be on a return to Palace.}

Its is a pity Klopp couldn't convince his fellow countyman Lahm into not retiring at the end of the season and bring him in on a free for a season or two. He can cover left back, right back and the central midfield position that would be left by Lucas, plus a whole lot of experience. there isn't much he hasn't won.

I know he is 33 now, but so is Dani Alves and watching him play top flight CL football last night you wouldn't think so, set up both of Higuains goals too

Nice response to Scouserseb lol people who rate Clyne really do grind my gears, he's bang average in nearly every department. Really disappointed that you say we aren't looking for a CB though Ed, the defensive problems will continue as long as Lovren is first choice.

{Ed001's Note - the plan is to give Gomez a chance to develop into first choice over the season. You can't change fullbacks and centre backs in one summer, so it has to be a bit by bit job. With a bit of luck, Gomez will mean we do not need to worry next summer either.}

Ed001 is spot on regarding Clyne, I did mention not long ago that Klopp wants TAA in the team next season so that could spell the end for him.

We aren't getting married now Walter. I pulled the plug because he kept accusing me of being after half of his Dubai apartment. I mean sure it had a pretty decent view, but I'm not like that. I only got it valued in secret because I was curious.

I'm not convinced by all this. If Klopp wasn't keen on Clyne then TAA would be playing. Most of these rumours are rubbish.

{Ed001's Note - you do realise that TAA is not ready this season and is being eased in gradually right? The rubbish is you thinking Couts would be on the bench when Barca's midfield has been on the wane for years and is why they are struggling this season.}

Adding to the fire here, I was told by a friend in January, a business partner of Ryan Bertrand, that Clyne himself was looking to leave, and that Southampton would be looking at Sturridge this summer.

I then asked how much they're going to charge us for Sturridge. I'm thinking at least £40m based on recent deals.

I'll get my coat.

Top bit is true, though - Clyne wants to move back down south.

Ed001, so matip with Gomez as maybe first choice, lovren covering. If Lucas leaves, do you think klavan will stay? I know he's just arrived this season, but I'd rather keep Lucas as cover for both and move on klavan?

Honestly don't think Klopp fancies Joe Gomez anymore, last year found minutes for Ojo, Stewart, in the first part of this season both underwhelmed when given some minutes, haven't been heard of since, but Woodburn and TAA found some minutes with some lively performances or cameos given a chance, even with the injuries at the position, Klopp has chosen Lucas over him.
