Eds in your opinions at what fee would City be willing to let Adam Johnson go at? Being City I presume it would be significant? Cheers {Ed009's Note - Between 15 and 20 million. I would say it could turn out at about 18 million.}

What the chances of LFC signing him ED? {Ed009's Note - There has been consistent interest and I suppose we could go in this January. It is impossible, realistically, to know what the club will do though, as so many things could change.}

Get him!!!

Hi eds,

any truth in madrid coming in for suarez? caughtoffside say they want him

Thanks Raj {Ed009's Note - Caught Offside is quite literally random kids allowed to write stories.}

Ed's right but even if they were interested doesn't mean he'd go what makes you think that because 'madrid' wants a player they're gonna be on the next plane. kenny's following in shanks' footsteps and building a dynasty here and before too long we'll be attracting top top players and they'll be queuing up to join, have the faith, he's just convinced a top player and colleague in his national team to come and join the revolution - don't be doubter be a proper supporter stop postin drivel.
stevieH

Caught offside.com is a joke, a negative of the internet.. AJ

Madrid fked us once to often!if!true fk em off

Who wouldn`t want suarez

Of course they want him - I would be disappointed if nobody wanted him as this would mean that he's not playing well. Whether or not they get any encouragement to make a bid for him would be down to the player and his agent. I really can't that happening any time soon.

Madrid will always play second fiddle to barca now.
JJ blackpool

Was it the Daily Fail that said "caught offside" was the best football blog? Or maybe it was the Sun. Either way its all you need to know.

Through the Storm

Im guessing that it is linked to Real's statement that they have targetted 2 EPL strikers..no better striker than luis!

Hi ed/Macca,
I have heard rumours that lfc will build a new stadium and not stay at anfield as Macca suggested.
Cost of anfield redevelopment with council problems, reduced revenue during redevelopment and no naming rights means cost to club too great.
New ground build subsidised by naming rights, increased executive box/commercial income, no loss of matchday revenue and sale of anfield is the only commercial option for fsg!
Ed, have you heard this?
NiRed {Ed001's Note - no, I have not heard that.}

It would seem more logical with the increased revenue

I seen in the states, sometimes if a team has construction, the league will work on teams home schedule, would EPL be willing to do that? Let's say no home games after April 15, or no home dates before oct 1? Any thoughts from eds or macca?

Couldn't we turn Anfield into a museum but charge a large fee for people to walk on the pitch were legends played.

Hope not!cant main and annie rd be increased?65,000 be great

The problem with Anfields Kop & the Centenary is the seat pitch, which is too tight for the younger fans who are growing still bigger/taller than the older generation fans. So developing the Main Stand and Anfield Road wont sort out all the problems.
Also in the 1960's you could get public transport much more easily before/after games, but now mid week and Sunday games are so poorly served, you see lots of people having to walk to the city centre after the game finishes. I know it puts a lot of genuine supporters off (including those who live in Liverpool) Hope for a taxi or wait for a Sunday service bus?
The Mancs have a railway and tram system - we have shanks pony.
We really are living in the past with public transport links and losing out on substantial revenues by staying at Anfield rather than finding a site nearer the city centre. But I assume its far too late to look for a new site now (say the soon to be demolished Royal Hospital, or the old tobacco factory site?).
Anyway the council would probably refuse any planning application.
Die hards will always defend Anfield, but if say 5000 extra fans would attend by having a site nearer the transport hub, I for one would support the move. A study of the financial advantages would be interesting.

As much as movin to a new stadium is nice and with the saving money and everything, but i personally believe we should stay at anfield, there's over 100 years of amazing history there, the trophies, the leagues, the players, everythin about anfield is our home and a fortress, i think if we move to another stadium, it will be the same as when arsenal moved into the emirates, it wont feel like home, the atmosphere wont be as good, the whole thing will feel different and that can have an impact on everything else, although movin might well be the logical answer, stayin at anfield jus seems right to me

Live for the future not the past. It's all about generating income. Liverpool would have no problems with a 75,000 stadium. Build a new one on Stanley Park and have done with it. It can be mostly financed through regeneration grants, naming rights, using the Anfield site for affordable housing, and building other businesses on the new site alongside the stadium - hotel, casino, nightclub, etc etc. Just expanding Anfield to 60,000 is not enough for big club with major aspirations. Anfield is restricting the growth of the club as a business. RED LENIN

Without the public transport infrastructure, that Anfield just doesnt have, its pointless building a huge stadium that would only be filled for the 4 or 5 big games we are involved in each season. Either find funding for rail/tram links to the city centre (that might be obtained through regeneration grants), build a new stadium nearer the city centre, or accept the level of support wont require more than a 60000 seat stadium.

An awful; lot of the capacity of a new stadiunm would be season ticket (as now) - so whether the holder attends or not the money still comes in.

To accept that 60,000 is our limit is nonsense when you look at Arsenal and Man United. We will not knock United off their perch with a ground capacity of only 60,000 - it simply will not generate enough income. {Ed002's Note - It is a practical solution to expand Anfield to 60k that will minimise the amount of debt that will need to be taken on.}

Pressed send before I was ready, so to continue. Are you suggesting that we only have the pulling power of Arsenal? Or do we have the pulling power closer to Man United who - it should be remebered will over the next few years increase their capacity to 96,000.

Is there not a currently disused railway links near Anfield which could be regenerated thus solving the transport Issue

To the person who said use the old site to build affordable housing, it will not be allowed because of all the fans that have had there ashes spread there over the years, i think there was talk of it becoming a remberence garden or somthing but defo wont let it be built on

There is an old railway line near the park which could be re-opened fairly cheaply and with grants available cost the club buttons.

For all there faults hicks and gillet have came up with a solution to this debate. The design for the 60,000 ground can be built without changes to the infrastructure. The 2 corners can be filled at any time adding 10,000 seats a piece. So easily be 80,000 seats if viable.

Anfield is to be turned into a retail plaza - condition of the planning permission im afraid.

If you make Anfield as easily accessible by public transport as Arsenal & the Mancs you get a better attendance, though not as good as as being near the city centre (thats why the Millenium was so popular)
With a bigger stadium comes the chance for buying match day tickets and when tickets become more easily available some season ticket holders think twice about renewing.
The Mancs with their capacity, are now finding supporters giving up season tickets and picking the games they want to go to Every season, those who have given them up are asked to renew. So there is a limit. But the Mancs are 30000+ above our capacity anyway.
Just pointing out, Liverpool would get better attendances with better access.

There is a railway link and I think it connects the docks to the main line at Edge Hill. It runs about half a mile away, over Walton Lane and the back of Priory Road, better than nothing but we really need one that connects to Lime Street.

hey eds, just wondering if there is any truth in the rumour that we have first option on Cahill through the N'gog deal? Could see him coming to Amfield in the winter thanks. AJ {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware there is no first option on him.}

As a free agent next year, he can do what he wants from January so no point in Bolton giving first refusal. He'll go on a free next summer to either us or Arsenal. Spurs will be too far down the league for him to see it as an option. {Ed009's Note - He can't do what he wants from January. He can't sign a pre contract with another team in the Premier League until his contract expires.}

Hope so

I don't think there is any first option on free agents..

I stand corrected on the pre-contract issue. However, there will be teams clamouring for his signature now and his agent and Cahill will be laughing all the way to the bank come next summer. It'll be all down to who offers him the most dosh and of course, has a decent chance of silverware. I reckon Liverpool are in with a fair shout of getting him as we have both things he'd want. {Ed002's Note - I suspect he will move in January and I would not discount Chelsea out of teh bidding.}

Liam Tomkins saying LFC is moving out of Anfield contradicting to what Macca has said..Can Macca confirm that LFC staying at Anfield ?

Hope redevelop anfield

I would just like to say, that Macca seems to get everything 100% correct, as he clearly has inside info. Whereas Kopsource are not reliable, the amount of reports they did, with Liam Tomkins writing them where incorrect. Of the top of my head, they said "Aly Cissokho deal agreed", "Stephen Warnock Close to Liverpool Return" and etc.

I feel that Kopsource is more of a highly opinionated site, who claim to have inside sources.

And so for that reason, I refuse to believe what any of them have to say, Kopsource and Koptalk are on a par in terms of the s**te that comes out their sites, IMO.

5o's

Eds, do u think it will it cost more to up date anfield to a 65,000 seat than build a new one. i think it would. {Ed001's Note - not in the slightest. It is more expensive to build an entirely new ground. It would involve having to take out huge mortgages ala Arsenal to do so. Upgrading can be done bit by bit. Overall it would end up costing more, but it would be a shorter term pain to the wallet as each new bit would pay for more.}

Sorry ed but macca says it'd be done in two years so your wrong it would cost the same just revenue is gona be down {Ed001's Note - if you say so.}

The other thing to consider with increasing Anfield to 65,000 are the building control issues. The stadium would have to meet evacuation standards and general access & egress requirements. With the current location so confined, additional escape routes could limit the extra seating or drive the cost through the roof.

The addition of revenue generating seating and corporate suites is relatively easy, and can be phased to reduce the commercial impact today, but the space required for staircases, protected corridors has a huge impact.

And then there are the logistical issues of transport and routes to the ground, 50% more people would gridlock the area because there are limited spaces to disperse crowds.

Sorry to be so negative, but there are so many factors involved in this decision. Architects plans tend to ignore the functional elements in the earliest phases of design.

The final solution has to deliver the additional capacity at a profit so that FSG can invest. Building it at cost and seeing no growth in return is not a good business solution.

Adam Johnson to LFC for £15million,
Gary Cahill in for £11million,
James Rodriguez of Porto in for £8million,
all in january

Wilson to leave on loan to Burnley,
Wisdom to go on loan to Preston,
in the next week during the loan window.

We won't pay £11million for Cahill, if he has no new contract at Bolton we would take him on a free next summer, maximum in january would be £3.5million, if interested at all. Rob Smith JFT96

Whhhhyyy cahill? are you not satisfied

Both skrtel and agger is better than him

Why would we pay 11 million in jan
when he is out of contract in june
i think its more likely to be 5million or 6 million

Heaven if!happens

Cahil will not like to join in Arsenal and T0ttenham. as they disrespect him this tranfer window. he is unhappy with it we can feel it by his comments. He will not join city as may be have to Warm bench. So there are a Good chance he will join us. and £5m is done deal for sure.

I think cahill will go to tottenham or arsenal in january. hell he might even go to city to be honest.

He's going to Chavski on the recommendation of John Terry with Alex moving along to either Arsenal or Spuds for a final pay day.

Ed do you think we might go after christian eriksen in january as i know we were interested when we bought suarez? Also the prospect of playing with suarez and agger may attract him {Ed002's Note - No I don't think Liverpool will move for Eriksen in January.}

Y agger? {Ed002's Note - It is a tenuous link because both are Danes.}

04 Sep 2011 12:06:38
Eds since Mauro Zarate has moved to Inter Milan on a loan to buy option,would you safely say he's not considered a target no more ? {Ed002's Note - It seems a reasonable assumption.}

Thank god for that. He is not the type of player for LFC. I will never support the sgining of a dumb arse who gave out a nazi salute.

04 Sep 2011 07:41:32
this is the best squad we have had for years when you look at h reserves and youth options we have coming through the team but liverpool are still looking to improve come january.
bids for hazard,cahill and johnson are a priority

Why cahill how many cb do u wont?

ste liverpool

Liverpool don't have the money for these 3 players.

Liverpool will not buy in every transfer window FSG want to make money unless there are out's in's wont be as plentiful

think about it Henry is not in the super rich bracket

For you maybe.

Fully agree about the squad though. bright times ahead.

FSG are not in sports to make money. They are in sports to win trophies. The partners have already made their money. That's the whole point.

We will buy players we can afford. The better we do, the more revenue we generate, the better players we can afford. It is the Bayern Munich model.

We know have 4 CB In this order
1. Carragher
2. Agger
3. Skrtel
4. Coates

This is Carragher last year as main man at CB
So next year it would be something like this.
1. Agger
2. Skrtel
3/4. Carragher
3/4. Coates

If we got Cahill on a pre-contract or buy in january it would be good.
Maybe even cash in on skrtel and keep Carragher until the kids are ready to step up for 4th cjhoice CB

Emlyn Dublin Red {Ed002's Note - Cahill cannot sign a pre-contract in January.}

I wish it would happen but i dont think it will and we dont need 2 wingers i would still go for hazard but i doubt he will go to liverpool and i would like them to sign cahil

Hope your correct.be made up.some side then!
