Hey eds, fantastic work over the summer. Not sure you guys were proven wrong once, and you're always one of my first stops for the latest rumours. Just following on from someone's comment about hoping Henderson was offered a new contract, are there any players in the squad at the moment who the club are keen to have sign new contracts? Admittedly, a large number of the squad now have only been at Liverpool a season or less and most of the others have signed new contracts in the past year, but the likes of Johnson, Enrique, Henderson etc.

Really appreciate the work you guys do.
Cheers {Ed001's Note - I don't know right now, I will have to ask about it.}

Cheers for your quick reply Ed001! A reply when you find out would be smashing, thanks! {Ed001's Note - I will try and remember when I hear to post straight away.}

Henderson has passion and he tries hard, but in my opinion he is not good enough.

He was the best player on the pitch against United

Worked his socks, I felt much better knowing his was on the pitch

Chugger:
Hope you remember what you wrote here at the end of the season. I Belive you will change your mind.
Henderson is a true profesional player that willl perform consistenly. He works his socks off at matchces and training. He puts inn extra tranings that you can se now pays off.
Liverpool need theese type of players with the right attitude.
Henderson is at the same situation as Lucas. I belive he will be one of our most valueble player this season.

Agree7 Disagree0

Typical of some fans who cannot see the contribution a player makes if he doesn't skin 5 players every time he dribbles. Henderson is a grafter, he gets forward more, he looks more comfortable on the ball, he looks like he is linking up within the team better and he is a very good harasser and tackler. In all 4 competitive games we've played this season he has been one of the best players. Lucas was treated awfully by fans during his first season or 2. Henderson has been on the end of a lot of unfair flak. Borini was getting to much jib the manager thought it better we loan him out. What happened to supporting players who work hard for the red shirt?

Suarez has been a disgrace this summer but still 90% of fans sing his praises (and his song). Just doesn't add up, fans choose strange players to be loyal and supportive too - if anything after his injury problems it was Borini who needed fans to back him, not a money grabbing egotist who did everything he could to try and engineer a move away from the club despite the unparalleled support he was given. The fickleness of some fans is beyond me.

Henderson will be a stand out performer this season, a team of Suarez's and Coutinho's won't win us many games, we need grafters as well as flair players.

Agree with Seano. And the boy is skilful, some of his passes show very good vision. To me he is the new Kuyt, someone you can rely on when you need him

Hi eds. Thanks for all the hard work you guys have put into helping us during the transfer season. I was wondering if you could help me with a doubt I have. At the start of the transfer season I remember reading reports that Liverpool were close to signing a young lad from valencia named chirivella. Did Liverpool manage to sign him? If not are we still interested in him? I heard he is highly rated in Spain. Did Liverpool sign sergi canos? Thanks a lot. {Ed001's Note - yes and yes.}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

Sergio Canos has done interviews and event days wearing a Liverpool shirt, there are on YouTube. He went to New York Comos and trained with Marco Senna (Formerly of Villareal) a few weeks ago with the Liverpool youth squad, and Sergio signed and plays plays for Liverpool, although I can't find his name on the youth rosters.

Also in relation to Chirivella: ''Chirivella, like Canos, moves to Merseyside from Spain. The contract he has signed at Liverpool is a 5 year deal worth in the region of 300k (euro's) a season, showing that the Reds are willing to spend big money on their Academy. There are reports that the deal will also include accommodation for his family as well as the best possible education available, suggesting that this why the deal is 300k (euro's) a season.''

Hope this helps folk.

hey eds
how is it that vitesse are allowed to loan so many players from chelsea? I remember you mentioning some limitations of loaning players.

#nice work. #great site
cheers {Ed002's Note - Vitesse are not subject to EPL rules.}

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Chelsea signed no players on deadline day due to loaning their fax machine to Vitesse for the rest of the season.

Agree2 Disagree1

As I recall, Chelsea has something like 24 players out on loan and I see it as a very shrewd move on the part of Chelsea. Moving forward with FFP getting additional revenue to cover potential acquisitions will be difficult, but buying promising youngsters and loaning them out has several advantages, not the least of which is it doesn't cost much and if they turn out to be great, then you can add them to the squad (e.g. de Bruyne), if they're just 'good' then you can probably sell at a decent profit, and if it doesn't work out no big deal as they didn't cost the world to begin with.

Thanks Eds for the info/updates as always. Just a few quick fire questions for you;

1) Now that the transfer window is closed how soon does the Club start to prepare ins/outs for the Jan window? I assume there's a period of settling until the next "weakest" area of the team is agreed upon and potential targets outlined for the next window?

2) With Suarez now "delighted to stay"; does this mean we'll be saved the usual transfer circus with him this coming January and is he happy to stay until next Summer? or will it another month in Jan 2014 of comments from "friends" about his interest in moving elsewhere.

3) In this regard; can we assume that regardless of whether we get Champs League or not next year he will be off next Summer?

{Ed001's Note - 1) the scouts never stop looking for players. The club itself will always be planning ahead, some outs will be planned already, but they can change as the season goes on. Henderson, for instance, was set to leave last summer, turned down a move away, so it was already being planned to move him on in January. He forced the plans to be altered by his performances and, especially, his attitude. So plans are made and altered constantly, there is very rarely a settling in period.

2) I would think it will depend on who, if anyone shows interest, and where we are in the table. Impossible to say for sure, the lad will do what suits him, rather than what is best for the club.

3) Considering he wanted the release clause inserted now, after finding out he didn't actually have one, I would guess he intends to go. It certainly doesn't seem like the actions of a man committed to the club! I certainly don't see Agger asking for a release clause in any contract he signs.}

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Thank god we didn't release Henderson. A year ago he was lumped in with Carroll and Adam as one of Commoli's over-priced misfits. Since then he has not only turned a corner but is rapidly becoming a first choice midfielder and one of my favorite players. His attitude, energy and enthusiasm is second to none and he is gradually adding goals and assists to his game. The sort of guy we need to nail down to a long-term contract imo.

Hendo, ey.
This is exactly what we should want to see from players.

Be told you're out, take some initiative and some responsibility for your own future and keep knocking at that door!
He has been rewarded.

No more of these players that feel they have a god given right to start every match. If you want to be at Liverpool Football Club. You MUST show that you're intent on giving your best. This club owes these players NOTHING.

Agree4 Disagree0

On his last six or seven performances this and last season, Hendo is one player I would hate to lose. Unlike Suarez he is committed and wants to play for the Club.

Jordan Henderson:

I am glad that Henderson was not sold.

He was bought for the future and we can now begin to see what kind of player he is.

He is a 100% professional. He has an attitude that few others can match. I'm thinking in particular on the training ground. He is often the one that is left after training to improve.

Henderson will never play like Messi or Ronaldo, and he will not play as Salfi Diao . :). He is a so-called steady Eddy. He will always give 100% and play smoothly.
Through a long season, he's a Liverpool player certainly would have benefited from.
Henderson is probably the new "Dirk Kuyt".

It just stinks that 90% of fans have to start with slagging the player into the ground, only to be proved wrong.
Obviously speaking generally rather than to any individual, but it just grinds my gears these young players have to deal with a move to a big club and fans on there backs.
Chances are, players like Hendo, Borini, Lucas etc would settle/have settled quicker if people just gave them some time as players to grow, and let a managers plan come to fruition.

Agree4 Disagree0

Welshboydave:

Spot on!

Fans must rely on the decision of the manager. Understand that if "established" players do not play well, but here are the young talented players with good attitudes of professionalism.
Just look at Lucas. One of our key players.
I would think that Borini's going to be a very good player just he gets enough games and stay injury free. Borino will return to Liverpool as a very good player.

Just think how good players like Pacheco and Adam Hammil would have been if they had had the same attitude as Lucas and Henderson!
The attitude and effort are the basics to enhance their talent. To a certain extent one can float on talent but so will stagnate.
Henderson and Lucas are players who will perform consistently well. And where such type of player that will provide an improved Liverpool.

I do not like to give Manchester United cred. But there are those players who always has also contributed with the team has done so well.

Hi ed's
Do you know if the Moses deal was just a loan or loan to buy? If he has a cracking season, can chelski just up their asking price by £m's or does our loan get taken into account?
Sorry for q's, just trying to understand the loan situation! {Ed001's Note - I don't know what the deal was with that, other than it being a loan. If it is a loan to buy deal, then a fee will have been negotiated as part of it, which would allow him to purchase Moses at that set price, regardless of his performances.}

Believable3 Unbelievable8

The deal is only a loan deal, no clause of permanent signing. {Ed002's Note - If at the end of the season Moses wants to move to Liverpool, and Liverpool are interested, then if an acceptable bid is made the player will be able to make the move.}
