Rod Fanni! Not sure whether he'd be good for us, but he's perfect for this site - one f* * * name after another!

Liverpool have lodged a £3.8m bid for Russian forward Maxim Votinov.

What is your source on this, mate?

Also, is there anyone who knows who holds the rights to Taarabt? Is it Spurs or QPR?

Ed- Are there any more Championship players that you know we are interested in apart from Barton and Taarabt? {ed's note - not that I am sure of.}

Just finished watching the Man City - Bolton match which I taped. Neither Milner nor Johnson in the first XI. And I think that is Mancini's first choice XI with Balotelli, Silva, and Tevez in front of three holding kids. I think this an absolute travesty because Milner and Johnson are two of England's best youngsters. Hopefully they get sick of Mancini and force their way out. And I would like to think we would be waiting in the wings for these two top wingers. Imagine Milner on the right and Johnson on the left. Is it possible Ed?

ED who is this Adam Barton of preston, i've never heard of him is he a furture prospect? {ed's note - yes mate, he is a young lad, supposed to be a good player though I haven't seen him play myself.}

Don't know what to make of Tarrabt (sp.) I mean, I wouldn't be over the moon if we signed him. But I wouldn't be disappointed, although I'd sway more to being disappointed and pessemistic.

He would be a benchwarmer for us anyway. And I hope he wouldn't obstruct Shelvey's chances in the first-team.

05 Dec 2010 22:27:25
Ed- Do you think there is any chance that we will buy Adel Taarabt from QPR and Adam Barton from Preston? {ed's note - we have certainly made inquiries about both, but I have no idea whether we will actually buy them or not. Comolli does rate Taarabt really highly so I would not be surprised if he was a major target.}

Talk on Twitter ( pauldlfc) that OM may loan us Remy, because he hasn't been too successful for them so far. Think it should be taken with a pinch of salt, and he could easily be no good enough for us, but he is a talent. What do you think Ed? {ed's note - he doesn't convince me at all mate.}

()()

05 Dec 2010 21:24:38
No Carlton Cole, Scott Parker, Rod Fanni or any other daily names to be linked to LFC.

The targets will all be younger players already performing beyond their years in the French and English leagues.

Benzema is a possibility although I would imagine this is dependant on being able to get a decent winger or 2 so we can revert to 442.

Ronaldinho WOT ARE THE CHANCES AS HES OUT OF CONTRACT END OF SEASON?

his age don't fit into what the owners want for the team, , , a loan possible till end of season and maybe then if he has no new contract can get him for free in summer add a bit of experience if he wants out of ac milan and play in the prem b4 he finishes his career who knows but to be honest hes lost his way a little since leaving barca but still got skill and can set up strikers well

{Editor's Note: Wages would be prohibitive - he'll move to the United States or, possibly, the Middle East.}

Hi ed, you must be pretty sick of answering questions about other sites! I read today that man city are going for Bale, using Adebayor & lots of £££ do you thonk theres any chance of yods selling? If they did hopefully that would mean we have a chance of getting A.Johnson! Also what are your thoughts on playing G.Johnson r/ m? Cheers mate

This is 100% true, Mike Warnock and his wife are very good friends of my parents and were there when i popped round earlier. Mike told me that Steven wants to force a move in January because he is really unhappy at Villa and would do anything to play for Liverpool again. Ed would you have him back as he is far better then any LB we had had in a long time and should never of let him in the first place?

{Editor's Note: I think he is better than the existing crop of left backs, but I am sure the club will not be buying another left back in January.}

Just a word of warning. even with all the build up about honda, there is every chance we still won't sign him, but if things are done as they were in the summer, expect a quality alternative. i don't believe any of the reported 'links', as we never land the player everyone is expecting. who can honestly say they seen meireles coming? expect a quality surprise in jan, whether its honda or not
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The only people who have said anything about Honda coming to us is the Japanese and Russian media. But I think the biggest hint yet that we are in for him came from the player himself when he visited his old club VVV and reportidly told of our interest and his will to come here.

Nothing has leaked out of Liverpool (from what I know). So we appear to be doing a good job of keeping it quiet on our part.

Liverpool manaer Roy Hodgson has joined the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kießling in the January transfer window.

His agent revealed earlier this week that Schalke 04 were in the hunt for the 26-year-old but now he has revealed that the Merseyside club are also trying to land the striker's signature, as well as a host of other European clubs.

Speaking in German newspaper Bild, the player's representative, Ali Bulut, said: "Milan, Liverpool, Schalke 04 and Lyom have asked for the player in the recent weeks."

Kießling has scored an impressive 71 goals in 134 Bundesliga appearences so far, but his agent has denied claims that he has had any offers thus far.

"There are no formal offers at the moment. Depending on what Bayer say he could be sold in January."

I think one of the best and most underated strikers in the world is edin dzeko i wish we could sign him am i dreaming or is there like a 2% chance we could get him ed?

{Editor's Note: Up until a few weeks ago it seemed he was certain to move to Juventus. Now there appears to be very strong interest from Manchester City. He will be a huge risk financially and I expect his wage demands would likely beyond Liverpool. It'll be a really major shock if a move comes about. I still expect Juve to be favourites for his signature.}

Ed reliable ppl tweeting liverpool have agreed a deal to sign loic remy on loan in january.
marseille want to get rid of him and gignac who have only 5 goals between them this season.

{Editor's Note: I think someone is having you on I am afraid - and Twitter as a source is not the best. Marseille are not unhappy with Gignac - note his Champion's League hat trick a couple of weeks ago. And Remy is gettting a goal every other game - which is better than Torres is doing at present. So I am afraid the "Tweet" is false.}

{ed's note - I think it more likely that Honda is seen as the striker and that the only other signing in January is most likely, for some unknown reason, to be a centre back. Hopefully not Cahill, whose only advantage over Skrtel is the ability to hoof it further upfield.}

Would take Sakho from PSG. Only 20 and definatly got the potential to be a world class defender. Here's a description of him from wiki:

"Mamadou Sakho (born 13 February 1990) is a French football player of Senegalese descent who currently plays for French club Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1. He plays as both a centre back and a left back for his club. Sakho is known for his leadership credentials, his tireless engine, hard-working attitude, and his tackling ability. He has also been praised for his physical and tactical qualities".

Hi, i'd like to know who is going to be the most likely signing for liverpool in january, if any?

{Editor's Note: I would say Honda - it has been around for a while and has the momentum.}

i'd also like your opinion on a new central defender and striker. unfortuantely i think it may end up being carlton cole who doesn't have anywhere near the quality to play with fernando. In terms of a striker (realisiticly) i would like to see maybe john carew or Fernando Llorente.
As for a central defender i think cahill fits the bill perfectly, as i'm in favour of an all english back four.
Finally, any news on a left back? {ed's note - I think it more likely that Honda is seen as the striker and that the only other signing in January is most likely, for some unknown reason, to be a centre back. Hopefully not Cahill, whose only advantage over Skrtel is the ability to hoof it further upfield.}

What would you say to players like. . hamsik, jovetic, zezinho do you think there being looked at ed? and do you rate any of them?

{Editor's Note: My understanding is that none of these are likely being looked at at present. Out of the three Jovetic would seem to still be injured, Hamsik is an excellent player but cannot see Liverpool being of interest to him and Zezinho will likely stay at Santos for a while.}

There is so much speculation on Honda that he is bound to have heard that the only club actually going to bid for him is us, and the news on Kop talk must be on Honda as he is the the heaviest linked player with LFC at the moment.I reckon a fee between 10-15 million.

Milan Jovanovic's agent reports that his client could choose to leave Liverpool in January.

The Serbia international joined the Reds as a free agent over the summer but has struggled to make an impact at Anfield.

Now, just six months into his spell in England, he is weighing up his options ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window.

The 29-year-old's representative, Cvijan Milosevic, says Jovanovic's preferred option would be to stay at Anfield and prove his worth, but admits he will have no choice but to seek a move if his situation does not improve.

He said in The People: "He wants to prove what he can do but if he remains a reserve by the end of the month his plans could change.

"Returning to Belgium (where he previously turned out for Standard Liege) is not a priority - there is interest in him from clubs in Germany, Spain and Holland."
========================================

Not worried about this tbh. He's not a bad player, but he's on a reported £100k per week which is rediculous to say the least.

I'd be happy with £2-3m for him. And it would hopefully open up a place for Pacheco on the bench and move him closer to that elusive starting place.

Anyone else read the article on SSN website from Comolli?

Basically the list for Jan window has already been drawn up and Comolli states that players that wouldn't normally be available could be as clubs are looking to sell due to lack of cash. This may include big name players as well (hopefully he means top quality players and not those that have over 10 characters in their surname ;o) ).

Wish I knew who was on that list!

Ed, do you think that with the appoiontment of comolli as the director of football, that is signal of intent from the owners that the next manager is likely to be foreign? as it is not unusual abroad and less common is this country, with not many british managers prepared to work under those conditions. {ed's note - possibly, though I don't think it is an intent to definitely go for a foreign manager, just that they will end up having to because of the difficulty of finding a British manager to work that way.}

For any one who is unsure on the type of player comolli has signed in the past, heres a few to ease your worries,
gareth bale. . . class
aaron lennon. . very good
roman pav. . .we tried to sign him in the summer
dimitar berbatov. . love or hate, good player
essou ekotto (spelling). . better than konchesky
younes kaboul. . better than what we have now
luka modric . .unsure if it was a comolli signing but was around that time.
the list is endless, he has an eye for talent for sure. but the manager has to believe in signings for it to work, if roy or who ever is in charge does not work with comolli, then there will be problems, and another robbie keane, signed by parry never played by benitez to prove a point. do you agree ed?

{Editor's Note: Some poor buys as well: dos Santos, Kaboul, Boateng, Taarabt (although he has moved on and come good).}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

he made some good buys and some bad ones like everyone else. I don't think he brought Lennon in and we all knew bale had world class potential. Luka Modric was a fantastic buy. I think he's one of the best midfielders in the pl. Slighty behind gerrard and fabergas. Another good buy he did was gomez. Had a shakey start but is proving his worth. He buys players with good potential. I hope he buys young talent like modric and bale. He also was able to get the most amount of money from selling players. Like berbatov for 30 million. I'm
sure levy helped but he had a part of play in that deal. Does anyone else hate spurs? I don't know why but I hate tottenham so h*cking much.

Personally I hope Hodgson, will be gone by the end of the season, I don't think it will happen anytime soon, it might just rock the boat even more.
The rumours of Adam Johnson are ridiculous, any half decent manager, would be rating him as a 'vital player' at City, but Mancini can't see the talent. Roberto will be gone soon though, so I can see their next manager wanting to keep him.

Anyway Liverpool Rumours. .
1) Matt Jarvis - great form for wolves, could be a great signing, and would add some width. 6-10 million.
2) George Eloykbi - played well for Wolves this season so far, very cheap, and has great experience of playing left back. 1-3 million.
3) Leighton Baines - Liverpool fan, playing at Everton, getting him would really wind them up! Great against Chelsea Saturday, and very good all season. And he is English! 7-9 million.

I was just thinking about Valencia financial troubles and looking at the La Liga table. The competition for the Champions League spots in La Liga is tight, so if Valencia don't qualify for the CL then they'll probably need to move a few players on.

Which is where I hope we move in! I always harp on about this, but if they fail to get CL football I bloody well hope we get stuck in and move for Juan Mata. And early aswell, because I can see Barcelona and R.Madrid moving in. I think we could get him for £15m but certainly no more than £20m. Bargain. And also Ever Banega, apparantly in the Summer he had a release clause of £8m, so unless that's changed it would be silly not to consider him.

I can't see either coming and it is wishful thinking on my part. But I really hope Camolli just looks in different markets apart from the French one.

"Joleon Lescott's admission he could leave Manchester City in the January transfer window has alerted Liverpool." Could not see it myself! what would your opinion on this be Ed? {ed's note - my opinion is that he is not good enough.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

To be fair to lescott he was top quality while he was at everton. After his big money move he lost his form. If we could get him playing like he did at everton then he is good enough. He is probably on high wages at citeh tho. {ed's note - Jagielka was top quality, Lescott was just a decent partner for him, in my opinion.}

Hi ed whot news on who will leave us mate in jan mate to free up some cash to freshan things up im likeing the fact honda is a good bet to come in i hope so ed for us that would be a class signing i like the lad. an the fact that the money he will being in on the shirt sales from oversea would be big money for shore.ed plus your take on little gaffa do u think he will still be with us after xmas mate. GREAT SITE EDS KEEP IT REAL. JAY ESSEX RED 4 LIFE HOPING FOR A BIG WIN MONDAY NITE WALK ON THE POOL UP THE REDS {ed's note - there is likely to be very little movement in or out of the club in January mate. It is more likely the club will just mark time until the summer when the big changes happen. Roy is likely to be here until then, unless we have a terrible run of results in the meantime.}

Anybody know anything on a certain Alberto Aquilani and whether he will come back to us or be sold? Was there a fee as made as part of the loan agreement for sale and is the lad in any kind of form?

Spriggo"

The Ed has said on many occasions he firmly belives Aquilani wasnt really happy in the UK, and now that he is back in Italy he will not be returning unless Juve can't find the cash to buy him at the end of the season, AND assuming also that Liverpool want him back. The rumours are that Hodgson doesn't rate him, although I can't think why- I think he had real potential and was starting to adapt well to the prem , and he would have been a great player to have in the squad.
LFC have the right to keep him if they want, but Juve have first pick if we do sell him, and IF they can find 12 mill.
But he is playing well and settling at Juve, and at that price they'll find it hard to find a better midfielder really- they'll deffo want him, its only whether they can afford him in the summer, or whether they will need other positions filling by then.
And even if they can't get him, he won't want to come back to LFC, or not for long, and if a player doesn't want to be at a club, why try to force him?
Oh, except if he's called Rooney and you're a desperate whiskey-nosed scumbag who isn't going to win the prem this season.

Found another translated version of Honda the LFC site

Liverpool FC beckons strongly to the services of Japanese Keisuke Honda. The player of CSKA Moscow could even talk with the English club, as we read in De Limburger.

The former player VVV-Venlo told his former teammates in particular that he wants to leave Moscow. Honda was close to Venlo in the neighborhood because he a football clinic at the Düsseldorf show was.

Last week all the news that the midfielder would leave Russia. "We respect his wishes. But we do not keep him against his will" that was the statement by a spokesman for CSKA. Liverpool alongside AC Milan would be interested in the Asian early as the winter to take over.

The player of CSKA could even talk to the English club.
Does that mean it's bound to happen? Any news on the situation Ed(s) {ed's note - it does seem more likely than ever right now.}

{Editor's Note: He cannot of held talks at this time, although I understand his agent has previously mentioned interest from Liverpool.}

Honda was in Holland yesterday meeting up with old team mates at VVV in Venlo. He told them that he wants to leave Russia and has already held talks with Liverpool. The story is in a local newspaper 'de Limburger'. He wants to move in January. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed.

In the meantime I think we should sign that player who was on MOTD yesterday. He was involved in everything in 'Goal of the Month' - WATTA COLE

This site is great for transfer gossip but you guys love to dream.
from a realistic view in january i can only see RYAN BABEL being sold.
he will probably bring in 8 million so if we get the reported 35 million that gives us 42 million to spend .
as for targets you are not going to get to many big stars in january but we need .

CENTERBACK.

.
.RYAN SHAWCROSS. .£9 MILLION
(this is most likely target)

ATTACKING MIDFIELDER

KEISUKE HONDA. . .£12 million
(this looks a done deal )

ADAM BARTON. .4 MILLION
(been watched a number of times this year and fits bill for liverpool future)

STRIKER

CARLTON COLE. . . £10 MILLION
(hope not but hodgson likes him)
