Are we close to sign this american youngster that we've got on trial? Agueldo? Is a deal likely in your opinion?

He's not on trial with us simPly training with us during the mls off season. It does give us a chance to have a good look at him but we'd have to agree a transfer not just sort out a contract

If he does impress the coaches during his trials and is available for a decent price, May be, we'd be going after him. {Ed001's Note - highly unlikely he will impress, he is not exactly top class.}

Got anything for us Macca.

Surely we must be looking for midfield/striker options in Jan.

Ed do you think we would be interested in boltons Fabrice Muamba since lucas is out for the rest of the season , hes a solid player , young and has played for england under 21's could be cheap also ,any interest? {Ed002's Note - No interest and I suspect no likely interest.}

05 Dec 2011 19:04:24
Havnt seen much of Hoilett & hearing rumors that this guy is being monitored . ED can u give us a heads up abt Hoilett , his playing style , pros & cons etc .. cheers , YNWA {Ed002's Note - Sorry, my view on the qualities of a player are really pretty irrelevant. I have seen no more of him that anyone else, perhaps less. I can say that I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at all.}

05 Dec 2011 18:44:19
Ed, what your views on Hoilett and Eduado Vargas? Whose mould are they in?
Do they have potential to be world class?
How true is it that a bid could be made for either in Jan?

Mulburton {Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and subjectively discuss the attributes of players. "World Class" is an entirely irrational and undefined term. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at this time. Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke and possibly Aston Villa have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany. Eduardo Vargas has to be a possibility but with interest from Italy and serious interest from Inter I suspect England a less likely destination than Italy or Russia. Certainly there has been interest from Italian and English clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Palermo and probably others) but there are concerns from the English clubs as to whether or not he will be able to obtain international clearance immediately. If he were to move and go on loan, then the club is taking a risk that he continues to play competitive internationals for his country.}

evening ED. whats the truth surrounding us putting a bid in for DAVID VILLA , ive heard allsorts of rumours can you clear this up for me please once and for all. thanks ed. MARKLFC. {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware they are nonsense.}

Villa come out and categorically said he is not moving from Barca this year. So yes, I think there was some talk about it, theres no smoke without fire.

Who needs fire! if you apply enough friction, that can also make a lot of smoke. know wot i mean!
dbadger

I think there could be a chance of us getting david villa remember its king kenny were talking about now the man can work wonders.

We would need to splash out 20 million for Villa who is over 30 years old. Bad piece of business considering he might not even play good in the EPL.

Evening Ed, I've heard a couple of people suggesting that we may well be interested in Arshavin in January do you think there may be anything in this? Also do you think we still have an interest in Llorente? I'd like to think so!

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - no and yes but Bilbao won't sell.}

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is in the race for Chile striker Eduardo Vargas - and is ready to join a transfer window auction.

Liverpool are being linked with a January raid on Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer.

Liverpool are hot favourites to land exciting Bologna midfielder Gaston Ramirez, according to reports in Italy.

Liverpool are ready to up their interest in Crystal Palace youngster Wilfried Zaha after watching the striker put in a fantastic display against Manchester United.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have been told they will have to stump up around £14 million to sign Lucas Ocampos from River Plate.

Are all these true eds. My source is the LFC Site so I no it's not reliable but is there any truth in them? {Ed001's Note - they are all players we have had scouted, though I don't believe we are still interested in Zaha, I was told the scouts were not impressed.}

Zaha not good enough!!

I too think, he (Zaha) isn't good enough. Must say I've seen him many times play, but he never excites me. May be I'm wrong but thats my perception of him. For something like 8m, he isn't good enough.

I personally was not impressed by Zaha's performance against United. He was completely selfish in his play. A transparent attempt to get noticed by bigger clubs.

Hello Eds
any chance of a new LB as having only one great player Enrique is a risky play. There is no great back up in my opinion, any chance of Cissokho from Lyon?
greetings {Ed001's Note - nope, we have Robinson.}

And aurelio.

Glen played a few games at LB so has Agger..

Cissoko from Lyon as BACKUP? Come on mate...

Has everyone forgotten Fabio??

Physios havent

Fabio who?

Ha! Physios haven't, top notch!

McSnuggles

Nah I had them both in my FIFA 12 team and it was a nightmare!!

Liverpool have offered a trial to the 17 year old Juan Sebastian Agudelo, MLS Star, Looks like we could have got him.

YNWA

Pistol

Isnt he older than that?

He's 19

MansfieldRED

He's 19 and training with the club. Hope, he is good. YNWA

Typo lol

He's 19 fella - But a good prospect - from what is being said, it appears to just be a training arrangement - However, he was already at Stuttgart for the same thing - so me thinks there may well be an Underlying trial possibly

Cheers
Jamie {Ed002's Note - These sorts of sessions are tials.}

It's just a training session for Juan for 2 weeks during the MLS offseason. He is not quality enough to be a Liverpool player. If he gets signed he will be a reserve player.

Alright eds hearing that Lukas padolski is having talks with his club about the offers that he has had from other european clubs would we be one of them?

Thanks - josh {Ed001's Note - possibly, we have certainly shown interest and had a chat about the price he would cost etc, with his club. Whether we have gone any further is hard to know.}

Hope so!

Just hearing a rumour that Rafa is to be presented at the new PSG manager in the coming week

=========================================

Rafa's agent has denied it, but we'll see, I really hope so :) Rafa, Rafael, Rafa, Rafael, Rafa, Rafael, Rafael Benitez! Still have a lot of time for Rafa :-)
-------------------------------------------
Apparently the rumour has been suggested to 'have legs' on the Al Jazeera channel which is owned by the same people who have invested in PSG.
I'm pleased for Rafa. I will always have high regard for him. I can't believe that a big club hasn't offered him something before now. He's a top quality coach. Instead duffers like O'Neill and mcliesh get jobs. Unbelievable.

Rafa is too good for Villa and Sunderland. PSG could be perfect for him. Koala Tea

O'Neill is a top manager. Put him in charge of a big side and he wouldn't be long showing you. {Ed001's Note - he is awful, his teams play hoofball and he has no idea how to manage a squad correctly.}

We'd always respect rafa for what he did to us. May be his ending wasn't great but he is always loved by the club. He was quite a devoted servant to the club. YNWA, Rafa. Best of luck to him

Some great times with Rafa. Very unlucky at times. No support from the london centric press and media. Clearly he and his family love living on the Wirral, something which just shows Rafa is no money grabbing mercenary like some imports into the Premier League who would have been long gone back to Spain or Argentina etc. Good luck Rafa, just don't come back and take Pepe from us, Please.

O'neill was unreal at both villa and celtic

Looks like Liverpool are getting ready to make a £15m bid in january for Eduardo Vargas, Am I shocked that we are going for Vargas, Yes, Am I shocked that we are going for a striker, No, Is it just me or does it look like Kenny does not Like Carroll??

£35m not even 5 goals, He's supposedly fit, but not starting, if He is not Fit, why arent we being told this, I feel sorry for Carroll Honestly, but for £35m, he's disappointing, I know people bang on about "the price has nothing to do with it" but it does, because with that price, from the fans perspective, comes expectations.

We'll have to wait till January, But it looks like we may be making a move for Vargas, whether its to add strength in debt, or to Replace Carroll, or maybe a change of formation in light of the recent tragic injury to lucas Leiva (get well soon) we'll have to see.

In King Kenny We Trust.

YNWA

Pistol

He has scored 5 goals and it's not like every performance of his has been dire. He's been getting increasingly better over the past few weeks after an awful start and he'll probably endue with a decent goal tally by the end of the season.

Martin

Yes hes was bought for a high price but its not his fault he was bought for that ammount of money

wildRED

Kind of a moot point i would've thought. Maybe we are going in for a striker like Vargas but why does this all of a sudden mean Carroll is to be 'binned'?

One thing i think we have missed for quite a few seasons is at least 4 or 5 really decent attacking players/strikers/forwards/wingers or whatever term you want to use. Not that we should copy or compare but looking at all the other top 6 or so teams in the prem they have usually at least 4 out and out strikers - chelski for example have Drogba, Anelka, Torres and Sturridge to name but a few. If we are going for someone like Vargas then great - it would be good to have options up front - surely that is the point. Not "we might be bidding for a striker = Carroll is rubbish/to be replaced".

I am not having a go Pistol as you don't immediately start the mouthing foaming that some fans have been going for recently but i would think it would be better to extend our squad rather than simply think people are being replaced.

Not that i am an expert but surely having two players for each position makes for a sensible team?

Looking forward to Fulham tonight!

Joff

Eduardo vargas wud be a replacement for kuyt, not carrol. He is more like a winger cum striker.
Indian Buzzer

If you read the post properly, you'll see I am not saying that Carroll will be binned immediately...I am not Kenny, I do not choose the squad, I do not know why there is interest in Vargas, all I can do is try and decifer it...Read it properly before you judge :)

Pistol {Ed002's Note - Eduardo Vargas has to be a possibility but with interest from Italy and serious interest from Inter I suspect England a less likely destination than Italy or Russia. Certainly there has been interest from Italian and English clubs (Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Palermo and probably others) but there are concerns from the English clubs as to whether or not he will be able to obtain international clearance immediately. If he were to move and go on loan, then the club is taking a risk that he continues to play competitive internationals for his country.}

Think there could be a chance of signing Vargas, liking the mix of S America talent with English we are getting too, hope the link with Lucas Ocampos is true and we can snare him, huge potential

I find it highly unlikely that we will stand any chance of capturing Lucas Ocampos

Well lads yes we do need to add something to our squad.Because at the mo we are missing something in the wide/striker positions,competition for places is a healthy thing.Which all the other top 6 sides already have.

Comma comma comma comma chameleon! But seriously, I doubt he is a realist target for January - might be too hard to get a work permit.

MansfieldRED

Have to say carroll hasn't stood up so far. i just hope, we can get some good things out of him. C'mon Andy carroll. YNWA

Feel sorry for Lucas getting injured when on top form like that. Ed's do you think it's neccesary to pay 15m to replace him with a DM? I mean what happens when he comes back...Myself I see this as a good opportunity for Jay spearing to show us what he is made of. I think it is quite negative to play with a DM at home against the likes of Swansea, Norwich and think playing this way may have cost us a few points this year. Maybe a flat 4-4-2 would suit us in certain matches.
Dave {Ed002's Note - I would suspect that the plan is not to replace him unless major problems are found over the next few weeks.}

Hi Ed,
By and large we have cover for most positions but I think DM is a bit weak and with ligament trouble and having to make tackles on a constant basis surely it would do no harm to have two players battling it out for the DM position

Ed, how long us Lucas supposed to be out? {Ed002's Note - A while yet. Assume the rest of the season.}

Sorry but to mention Spearing replacing Lucas is Laughable,i would not have him in the under 18s to be honest,i think no harm putting Henderson in the middle with Adam, Adam as the DM and Hendo getting forward where he is a far better player,we also need a prolific goalscorer and right winger..hope we can get players in come January.

05 Dec 2011 12:01:37

Ed, I have two questions which are related:

a) is it more likely that the club will focus on players outside of the EU for January since established International players from European leagues may not want to disrupt their season with Euro 2012 in mind?

b) would this also make it more likely that we will be targetting younger players from european leagues who may not be figuring in their national teams plans for 2012?

{Ed001's Note - a) no, we will just be going for the players that are felt will improve the squad, regardless of where they are from. b) yes, the upcoming Euros do make it more difficult to sign established internationals.}

05 Dec 2011 11:59:04
Ed001 do you think there is any chance of kagawa or lucas moura in jan? {Ed001's Note - possibly Kagawa, but not really likely, but then who is in Jan? It is a difficult window to get players in.}

If we do want to get lucas moura then we will have to wrap the deal up by at the latset half way through the window for him to sort out the paper work {Ed002's Note - Same with HAzard and JHguain.)

Was in Liverpool for the weekend and heard a rumour that carroll would be rejoining newcastle for collicini plus £20million pound to us........ Anyone else hear this or is it just another bulls**t story??

Irish Raider

Coloccini is simply not good enough ! Carroll needs time to regain sharpness and fitness - this always takes tim. He is young and with fullness of time fulfill his potential !

Just another BS story.
CR

How much time does Carroll need its been one year?

It doesn't matter how long it takes he's only 22 ffs im a loyal supporter and have been since the 90's and i know carroll will top scorer in the league, you wait til the next season starts. New players, European football and more experience.

To be honest, I would have Demba Ba over Carroll... I'm sure the Jordies would feel the same way too with the form he is in.

Gaz YNWA

Loloccini has only just gotten himself to the stage where he's passable in the Prem. Our SIX centre halves are all better than him.

Also with Derek Lambias ranting about how Carroll "is worth f*** all" I don't think he's going back to Newcastle.

Probably BS, but instead of colochini i'd take £15m plus Demba Ba or just £20m.

there are 2 ways to look at it
1. a £15m loss but gives us £20m to buy someone who's ready NOW, not later. byt he time carroll comes good it'll be too late for this season. we can't afford to carry any passengers.
2. it's like we took £35m for FT, not £50m.

as much as i would like him to do well, if anyone offered £20m-ish i'd snap their hand off.

it's nothing personal, i think he can do a job in a cetain style, as proven at newcastle. i just don't think he fits in with KK's style of playing, hence not playing him from start.

i honestly think KK thought he'd be better than he is turning out to be.
call it a mistake or whatever, thats football. even ol whiskey nose has made many clangers over the years, but because he keeps winning things, people overlook them.

for the £20m you'd probably get Bent (maybe with a couple of mil added to it)

Sinner21

Not sure about Colocinni, but I can't see Carroll at LFC come next season without sudden improvement very soon.Huge disappointment so far.

It doesn`t matter how long you have been a supporter and it`s not disloyal to point out that Carroll is not up to it. Very very poor since he`s joined and the games he has scored in he has been all but useless. He scores a goal and all the muppetts start saying how good he is.! he was crap against Exeter City and scored, at the moment he`s below Kuyt for ball control and awareness and that takes some doing!
Matt b

Typical non supporters just 'fans' slating OUR own player, Probably the same shower slating Lucas for the past few years. Please learn from your mistakes. We are not just any club we are Liverpool and we suppor our players, if you dont like it..... dont suppotrt the redmen.

5times*****

Carroll is young and so all us reds want to give the lad a chance, as he's just getting a feel of the Liverpool set up.

Regardless of this, I feel because Premiership defences can only really be cracked by fast moving players like Suarez who trap and shoot a ball in the same move, Carroll being so tall can't do this. You just get the feeling he will trip over the ball every time he gets it, and yet he can hit the top corner of the net with ferocity from the half way line.
Downing or Enrique or Henderson's passes onto Carroll makes us look predictable, thus why we need a Tevez, Higuain type of speedy character.
Carroll needs to beef up like Andy Murray to stay on his feet when a tin ribs hits into him.
He will then be an awkward lump like Zamora, Crouch etc who will get some important goals as a sub.

I don't think Andy Carroll will never get past 15 goals a season for Liverpool, unless we play 3 up front, and have Suarez and a similar type player pulling defenders wide leaving Carroll to head home balls sprayed into the area.

Saying this it would great to see score a brace or more against QPR, to see will that ignite him to be a regular scorer.

KK we trust

I dont understand some people here , how many more chances does carroll need to get to show his " quality" , i'm not sounding negative just looking at the facts and the facts are that carroll has been beyond disgraceful on the pitch , january transfer window cant come any sooner , we MUST buy replacements !!

Yes carroll has been poor but look at dzecko for city. took him a good while to come good an he's really showing his pace and touch this season, even getting assissts. carroll is a different type of player but not everyone can jump into a team like suarez. a back-up would be great in the meantime but carroll should get better

05 Dec 2011 10:30:39
every team needs a top class playmaker, can pass run with the ball , trickery, can score n do a bit of magic, this gaston ramirez chap is quality, edd do u think dc n kd were aware of the talent from uruguay n such so recruited luis n coates with a view to get this lad also, gr8 strategy if they were onto that? anybody else think that?

5 gold stars {Ed001's Note - we don't buy players with the hope of attracting a third player to join, that would be lunacy! We buy players because the management feel he will improve the squad. The club are aware of Ramirez and are tracking him, I doubt any move for him will happen in January though.}

I never said we buy 2 players to make a 3rd transfer, i do realise theyre quality players in suarez n coates , well id reckon we r in with a gr8 shout in getting this guy above anyone else
5 gold stars

Ed Is there any truth in Anelka to us in jan?,or just paper talk?Regardless what would be your view on taking him?Tend to think no point,past it meself.But bit on fence with this one.Mr.Whinge {Ed001's Note - no interest as far as I know, his wages are far too high.}

05 Dec 2011 08:58:17
Hi eds would you say that Luuk De Jong is our number one target if we do sign somebody in Jan?

Thanks once again
Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - no, he is not intended to be a January target as far as I understand, it is just that there is so much interest in him we may be forced to move then.}

I posted the other day regarding marko reus joining us and said 'he was nailed on, but we might have to wait until the summer' my contact has now informed me DC has had positive talks with his agent and would love the chance to play for a club like Liverpool but fears its to big of a move to make 6 months before a major international tournament so he wants to wait till the summer. Liverpool fear bayern will make a move in Jan and scupper any deal, we will match any offer bayern make then it's up to the player DAVEY BOY YNWA

I love hearing rumours like this, will watch to see if this comes true. Come on DAVEY BOY

Yep, at least that's a rumour like in the goo'd ol' times, not a silly question as usual! Hopes it turns to be true, though I have serious doubts - can you at least share what kind of sources you have?

Drigan

Hi ed, Do u have any confirmation on this? {Ed002's Note - No. There is no confirmation of any serious interest from Liverpool at this time. Reus has been playing well and has a growing reputation - enough to alert Bayern Munich - always thought to be his likely destination at some point. Bayern have been interested since the early summer although certain influential factions do not see a need for Reus at this time. Additionally Juventus, Manchester City, Arsenal and even his old club Dortmund have shown an interest in Reus, but a move in January seems pretty unlikely unless a significant bid acceptable to Gladbach is made. Chelsea had two people attend the recent Cologne match to specifically watch him perform and they may be considering a bid.}

If DC has spoken with his agent, that is surely tapping up, which is illegal and could cost us transfer window bans. I highly doubt it, but if you're right DAVEY BOY, you're right!

McSnuggles {Ed002's Note - Comolli speaking with his agent is not tapping up.}

Eds isit possible for liverpool to go for iker muniain boy is class, just wondering if there is interest and if it is realistic... {Ed001's Note - we have a long standing interest in him, I am trying to find out if there is any chance of getting him.}

Hope so just what we need

Hope so, this kid will be pure class. Anything yet ed? {Ed001's Note - I probably won't hear back before about Wednesday.}

Did hear he was looking @ chelsea & spurs to hopefully show interest in him? not sure of how interested they are/were of him though? {Ed001's Note - having had a chat with 002, he mentions that I had heard rightly and that he is being offered around to clubs. But they are looking for 40m Euros upwards, I can't see them getting that. The intention is to sell him and hold onto Llorente and Martinez, but they need to get a big fee to do so. The only thing I am having difficulty finding out about, is if we have any intention of bidding, though we have looked at him closely, that is completely different from bidding!}
