Ed, if we get a new manager, will all the people we had interest in no longer be likely to sign? E.g. Luuk de Jong Rasmus Elm

Cheers {Ed022's Note - There is a chance they could change, but I'd still expect them to roughly stay the same. The DoF has more of an impact on players really though.}

{Ed022's note - Just thought I'd let you all know that over on my Player Profiles site there is now a Liverpool Talk Page, where it's strictly LFC talk regarding transfers, profiles, questions etc. Thanks all.}

Is there really any difference between banter and that page ed?
The Joshster {Ed022's Note - I'd say there's more banter on this page, and the page on my site just discusses LFC targets, LFC questions etc. I reply to pretty much every single one.}

Whats the address for site {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - feel free to drop in a comment or something mate. I respond to all of them pretty much so yeah.}

eds theres a rumour torres was in the liverpool dressing room for around half an hour after the match? thoughts please? {Ed022's Note - Who cares mate.}

Couldn't possibly be catching up with old friends could he?

Y are there still sum torres obsessed liverpool fans...hes not coming back and we dont want him back...so get over him

Mate if alica dixon or carmen electra like edd said who the f cares?
frankyscouse who is drinking himself silly but still peed off with the negative way we started.

Looking for an old pair of favorite boots i suspect !! B

Ed will spearing leave this summer {Ed022's Note - I believe so. But it isn't because of todays performance, it's been dawning for a few months now. Liverpool seem to be trying to sign at least one CM this summer, which would mean the end of Spearing I believe.}

Good he is not Liverpool quality and I believe one of our biggest problems this season not replacing leiva and playing spearing this season he belongs at a mid table team like everton

Gd job, he has been the real weak spot in the team. Too many mistakes..

It is believed Liverpool will buy another central midfield in the summer. As everyone says, spearing is simply not Liverpool standard. Also if spearing doesn't go coady will never get a chance to step up. {Ed022's Note - I've already said this.}

Thank fook

Thank god 4 that something to put a smile on my face 2nyt

Shame it hasn't worked out for him, he's probably given his all for the club but he doesn't have the ability to play at the level this club should be. Hope he will be a success at another club.

I think he does OK for the odd match, but not a long run in the side like he has done and so think he is a luxury we don't need! Sad as I quite like the guy. Keith

Problem is he thinks he is the new Stevie Gerrard, but plays more like Stevie Wonder

Do we need another CM? Henderson and Stevie G played better in the middle when Spearing got subbed.

I'm the one Liverpool fan who is quite gutted. Spearing plays with huge passion for the club, that many in the squad would do well to emulate. While he does make mistakes, he is still young, and he has potential. Look at the improvement of Lucas... that could be Spearo in the next season or so. We're too quick as a club to discard players after a bad patch. Big Andy has started improving now, after many were calling for him to be sold. I'm disappointed that yet another young player who has risen through the ranks is off without a real chance.

Ha! Would'nt call him a luxury mate.

WB

Shame for the lad cos he is Liverpool through and through , just not up to the required standard we need . i believe the cup final was lost in the midfield !!
Geza8

Keep young Spearing and develop him he hasn't done too bad

Thankgod at least one positive from yesterday! So I guess no more "spearing report".:-)

Eds your totally right mate i think i want new yound manager with new ideas build up again although this was supposed to be transition season i think yound manager fresh ideas is totally the right way wether we go that way i dint know i diubt it i never get what a want! By the way ur my favourite eds! {Ed022's Note - If this is aimed at me then thank you, but a lot of the Eds here work very hard, I'm just steadying the ship for today, but I will try and get back on here as much as possible. I'm always over on the player-profiles website though if it helps, and there is a Liverpool talk page on their also.}

Carragher will become the new lfc manager

Watch this space

Oh god I hope so he will make known Lenny look good

Pardoe

Championship here we come.....

I think he will get some sort of coaching role but thats it

Has he even done his coaching badges? {Ed022's Note - Not the necessary ones as of yet.}

But I thought Ronnie Moore was doing a decent job at Tranmere.

05 May 2012 22:02:32
AVB will be the next Liverpool manager...

You didn't put "watch this space". Now I don't believe you.

Dirks Engine Room

Would that be a diaster i am not so sure , was he given enough time at Chelski and there was some real powerful personalities it that dressing room also .

There have been crazier predictions.

evening eds fellow reds . quick question . do you think andys form has improved the last month or so because he might wont to move on so he is shop windowing him self. hope im wrong but a thought {Ed022's Note - I suppose it's a possibility, but I doubt it. I think he's just tired of the stick he's getting, so is putting in a shift to shut up the doubters. I say fair play to the lad.}

I think he has had shyte service all season and then klown Lenny woke up to what service he needs

Pardoe

If he'll keep putting a shift in like he did today i'm happy with that

He cost £35m, he should have played like this all season long,
Still not good enough.

I dont think its even to do with service although its a factor. I believe he is more settled, determined to prove his worth and also, i believe hes starting to build partnerships. Suarez was banned and Bellamy hasnt played too much so hes been on his own for a while, now that theyre both playing regularly hes getting an understanding of movement and so on, i think hes been our best player the last 5 games.

Anfield Andy

It's quite amusing really. If he plays poorly he is s**te and should be sold, if he plays well he is putting himself in the shop window because he wants away .Poor sod can't win.

Well he shouldn't wait until he's fed up to put in a shift really, that comes with the territory.

Hi Eds, when you say that KD will be replaced by a manager with PL experience, could it simply be Rafa?
Thanks, keep the good work
Morrocan Red {Ed022's Note - I didn't say he WILL be mate, I just said that I have a feeling he might. I think there is very very small chance of Rafa coming back as manager.}

Eds what is the reason all u eds think there is a very very low chance rafa would return not having a go just asking...i seen on sky bet hes on 9/4 as next lfc manager abover everyone mentioned ?? {Ed022's Note - I answered this already, but I'll answer once more for you mate. Rafa is a manager who likes to have full control on transfers, scouting etc etc, and the owners are clearly not into that, as they believe in a system of hierarchy and delegation/separation of powers. I.e. DoF. This is why it's so unlikely mate.}

Oh ryt cheers 4 tht ed

Actually, to have Rafa back would mean they save the 6 million quid they would pay a DOF over 3 or 4 years and could put that money into the squad, let Rafa manage.......his record as a Liverpool manager is second only to Uncle Bob.....

Hey ed that's fighting talk :) we need to go forward not backward

hi eds. Some people sayin we need to do transfers before euros, some sayin we should use euros to uncover a new talent. They must be deaf and dumb, fsg say over and over, young potential with sell on value. Lfc wasted to much on prem lg players last season. My head is tellin me to keep an eye on the olympics, it's in london so lfc should have all scouts there. Let the rich teams pay over the odds for player from euros. Lfc to take top young talent from rest of world. What u reckon eds? {Ed022's Note - I think if you buy before the Euro's you get players cheaper, and it's done quicker so more chance of actually getting the players you want. I fully agree with you mate, I'm looking forward to the olympic football more than the Euro's, because there could be some real gems there!}

Actually that's a really good point {Ed022's Note - What is?}

Completely agree with the poster however it seems unlikely that we'll be the only club keeping an eye on the olympics

Any new talents emerging at the Euro's will be spotted by all the big clubs and we will have to compete with the Mancs and all the top european teams.

Cant wait for the olympics, living in glasgow were getting a few games at hampden, i believe spain v japan is one of them, really looking forward to that, get to see some of the young spanish players coming through. should be good :)

Fsg have said many times,young,
potential with sell on value,example
EDEN HAZARD he might cost that
little bit extra but QUALITY,please no
imitations we missed out a couple
of years ago on CRISTIANO RONALDO
don't make the same mistake
EDEN HAZARD would take us to that
next level........

05 May 2012 21:19:52
Hi Eds - You reckon KD will be replaced by a PL manager or one with PL experience. Is your money on a veteran (perhaps to work with Carragher/Gerrard) or someone young? Martinez, maybe? {Ed022's Note - I'd say it'd more than likely be someone young.}

IF Kenny isn't manager for next season then Guardiola would be massive but doesn't seem likely at all :D

I think someone 2 young will not be able to help...we need a reepected manager abit old with alot of experiance and that wil be able to pull strings in bringing players to our club

Martinez will surely stay at Chelsea.

Martinez is at Chelsea? Did they sack Roberto after the FA cup win?

05 May 2012 21:14:59
carroll is improving every game which is a huge bonus but i can only hope hendo can improve the way that lucas did. spearing is only in the team coz hes from liverpool tbh. eds do u honestly think kenny will go? {Ed022's Note - I personally think that it is unlikely he will stay mate.}

Ed why do you think its unlikely Carroll will stay {Ed022's Note - I was talking about Kenny.}

Spearing isn't from Liverpool he's from Ellesmere Port which is Cheshire and besides a player's geographical place of birth doesn't give them the right to get in the Liverpool team.

I think Kenny will go and Spearo will go but I also think Lucas is over rated.Had a great game against M city but can he play like that every week? I don't think so.

Are you for real? Lucas is an outstanding player, our best midfielder by far. You don't just get into the Brazil national team for no reason and he seems to be a permanent fixture in it.

What an idiot!

Ok for the person who called me an person why dont u read what i actually said about lucas and as for spearing he was brought up from our academy which is what i meant

The person denouncer was actually talking to the person who says they think Lucas is overrated.

I cannot believe so many LFC supporters are asking for Kenny to leave. Yes, we have had an awful season but he doesn't play on the pitch and the majority of blame must lay with the players. If they had spent the season working crazy but not winning, fair enough, but too often they have looked like they just don't care enough.

Its strange that many supporters seem to have not noticed what a shambolic state the club was in before Kenny took over. We were titled as possibe league chasers! Crazy! Top four would have been a minor miracle!

Give him until next season and if then we are still behind then maybe we need to change management, but crhrist knows we should realise in this country that changing you manager every season genrally does nothing to benefit team!

EDS do you agree or disagree with me? I value your opinion but just feel he should be given another half a season as think next year the players will bind well and could be a vastly better team

A Sad liverpool supporter. {Ed022's Note - I understand your point completely. I would have to say it's very head vs heart for me. My heart tells me to be patient and just give it a little more time, but my head screams that we need something new. My head says that if we actually got a new, young manager, the sky is the limit with regards to Liverpool. It's a very difficult decision, but at the end of the day, if this was anyone else but Kenny, would we be saying the same thing?}

100 per cent right,since when did we turn into a club that didn't back our manager,Kenny has only had a year and a half and has won 1 cup and got us to another final,if old whiskey nose had not been given more time where would Man Utd be now?as for the players,they need to n
Be given more time,Lucas was my mouse hated player for the last d
Few seasons and look at him now,Carroll will defo come good,always keep the faith y.n.w.a

Agreed with Ed022 I also can't seem to make a decision and the main issue being "if it was anybody else would we be saying the same thing?" I guess its best these decisions are not left up to us and more towards the owners. {Ed022's Note - Amen to that mate.}

Im with Ed i see your point but can we really trust KK wth another 100million besides we had a higher league position last year even under hodgson enough said time for him to go im afraid
The Joshster

I disagree that the blame lies mostly with the players. An army lives and dies on the decisions made by their general. So either the decisions he is making are wrong or the players aren't following his instructions. And to be honest it doesn't matter which one it is as both mean he is failing as a manager. So the only option left is to get rid. It just depends on how they wanna do it, either sack him and publicly humiliate him or ask him to step aside making it look like his decision thus allowing him to keep some pride. The Question is who to bring in and who wants the job as it's starting to look like a poison challice.

It makes sense to change managers until you get the right one!chelsea sacked AVB and they won the FA Cup. We cannot trust Kenny with our money!

Totally agree with Ed

You cant blame players for team selection bottom line is today and other games kenny got team wrong today first 60 minutes we were still in lime street station.just look at home record rest my case thanks

Wheres the agree with ed button?!
MIKEYRED {Ed022's Note - I'll suggest it to the maintenance man.}

Excellent post. Kenny must stay.

Kieran

I do agree on the money we spent not being well spent but the idea of buying british players i think is right in the long run for sure, but not a quick fix
However, i cannot agree at all with member that says the manager must take majority of blame? Even Harry Redknapp said the other day that managers cannot take the credit etc for win, and the same applies to losing surely? Thesae players are getting paid stupid money so at least they must work hard for the team. If they can't be bothered to chase balls and run like a madman, how can you lay majority of blame with manager? Sure, he can stop playing them but LFC do not have so many options in regards to suitable replacements for players not playing well, especially as so many have bneen a let down.
gareth

I'd love to know who these young, fresh ideas managers everyone's talking about are? Coyle? AVB? Di Matteo when Chelsea lose the final and don't give him the job? Just because someone's young, doesn't mean they're brilliant. I'd stick with Kenny, thanks.

- Something Red -

Lads its as simple as this...i love kenny as much as all you...BUT what if by the end of next season under kenny we end up like aston villa i personally think it will be to late 2 become a force by then as teams tottenham,man city,newcastle even everton are starting to push up....kenny has no tactics he just picks wich ever squad he wants even if them very same players play crap constantly on top of that he gets a transfer budget and blows it on useless players for twice there value...lads e really need a change before we end up as a big club gone average....D

A great manager will be able to get the players to play for him and run around like madmen as you put it. A managers job includes motivating the players just as much as picking the side and choosing the tactics. If lfc are having a poor season then either Kenny isn't getting his tactic's right or he isn't motivating the players to play for him and for the shirt. Either way he is failing as a manager and needs to get his coat on the way out. And that's not even taking into consideration his transfer market exploits. The man was a great player who did well when he first managed th team as he was playing with the team someone else had assembled and with players who liked him as a mate so would play their best for him, now he has to build the team himself and get the players on side as a manager rather than being the ex team mate who's now the gaffer and he can't do it. Plus his time out of the game has been shown up with his out dated tactic's and his poor knowledge of current players leading him to bring in anyone who played a good game last season. He is a club legend but is over the hill as a manager and needs and deserves to be put out to pasture before he does anymore damage to his name.

Trying to put my neutral head on Dalglish is poor way too many poor tactical decisions
Carroll has been poorly served
Young new manager what AVB he stank at Chelsea couldn't handle big players
Even saw Carragher mentioned you must be kidding
Rodgers maybe if he would join
The biggest drawback is a new manager will want to get rid of players on big money like Woy and Dalglish did
Do you get a new manager and try to sell downing, Adam, and all the other dross that will cost you a s**tload then what give him 100 mil sorry somewhere you need to stand and suck it up
Point is where?

Pardoe

Everyone is getting led around by the media,we were in serious trouble when kenny took over,in a year he has won a cup and got a final he should be given more time,we are playing well but have been unlucky And wasteful in front of goal,a few more players and we will be up there again,I'm begging all u bloggers if you really love your club get behind your manager and team and stop looking for the quick fix.

Looking for the quick fix

Never got the point "if it wasn't Kenny what would we be saying"

Fact is, it is Kenny. I trust the man completely to always do what he believes is best for LFC. We were on our knees when he came back. Konchesky? Poulsen? What the hell!

FSG will give him time. The media wants his head, and so it seems do some fans.

Get behind Liverpool Football Club.
YNWA

Some serious disrespect on here.
Get rid!!!
Sack him now!!
Bugger i dropped my dummy!!
If any of you had watched the team in the eighties you would know that intelligence,flexibilty and PERSONAL responsibility of the players was key to Kenny's style of play.
We have some serious sh!thouses in this team.

That was the andy Carroll we paid 35 million for he was unplayable when he came on,roll on next year,few more signings and Jenny's direction we will get there,come on the redmen

Why is it that every time we lose a game then every one calls for a new manager?

Personally, i just view you all as clueless school kids who wouldn't know a football if it jumped up and bit you on the arse. If you were real fans, then you'd go to games, hear what real supporters think and hear the crowds chanting Dalglish in every game. This isn't some computer simulation but it is somewhat offensive to read posts which slag off the manager.

I'm now even reading posts saying what a good player Carroll is because he did well when he came on. This, after a game where you lot have slaughtered him is laughable. Completely reactionary! No clue of anything further than tomorrow.

You really just make yourself look like a complete bunch of clowns.

PS. Thumbs up to the OP. You sir, i agree with.

Do people forget that kenny great football player he was walked out of us when things where going wrong as manager last time , It hurt me yesterday to see how we where playing in the first half we need a new start .

If Kenny is not at fault it must be Steve Clarke.
Personally i think they have got it wrong.Kenny has his heart in LFC. but I do not think he is the man to get us back to the top 4.
CR

If he is given another year he will be persistin with the likes of henderson, downing and adam. lot of points can be raised regarding yesterday's match. the bottom line is kenny does not have any tactic and he messed it up altogether in the transfer market. we got rid of rafa and woy, even with better results. it is too stupid to argue that kenny deserves more time than those two. come on deluded lfc fans wake up, no one is bigger than the club.

I think it is time for Kenny to step aside for a younger manager, as a lifelong fan, Kennay was my hero as a player but I think the game has moved on and it's time for a younger coach. The team selection yesterday and on other occasions has been wrong and has cost games. Yes we could say be patient but for the club to challenge again and move forward we cannot afford to be, the club cannot afford years out of the champions league as that revenue is crucial. The club needs to work with it's head and not just it's heart. Kenny will always be a legend at the club no matter what and we all know he wants what's best for LFC.

Diggler

There are two things here. lets ignore that this is KK for one second. first of all, i agree completely that we should get behind the manager, and give them time to build, and indeed rebuild. i dont agree with the chopping and changing of managers at all. the right way about it is not to find a "quick fix" but look for someone that will be there long term.

which leads onto point two. if you want someone appointed that can have all the time he wants, and you want to look long term, then you need someone younger. the game is a very different kettle of fish now. it is becoming (from a managerial p.o.v) a young mans game. KK, even if we were having a wonderful season, still only has 2 or 3 more seasons in him before he retires surely. a younger manager is more likely to be around for longer. would man utd have had a manager for 25 years straight if they had employed a 61 year old? a younger manager can grow and develop with the club and the club can grow and develop with him

Quote:

'Do people forget that kenny great football player he was walked out of us when things where going wrong as manager last time , It hurt me yesterday to see how we where playing in the first half we need a new start .'

He had a nervous breakdown as a result of events at Hillsborough and his involvement in the aftermath.

I'll be really glad when the school holidays are over.

Have any of you thought that he may want to step down?
Kenny is not the same manager as before, he's been out of it for too long and based on such a long time off has done quite well. I'll stick by his buys that there is potential with all the players and he got rid of all the crap that was signed before.
I do think though that it's now time to sign a young manager and build a squad around the expensive buys we have made. We have enough British players now, all we need to do is plug the gaps with good foreign talent and maybe, just maybe things will look better for Liverpool

Fantastic reply Ed and I totally agree with your sentiments. The quality of the responses from all of the posters shows the enormity of the dilemma that we are caught up in. KK deserves respect for everything that he has done for the club both on and off the field. That is his everlasting legacy.

However, this season he has shown with frequent regularity that his decision-making and tactics have been very questionable. We all know that he lives and breathes Liverpool and perhaps that passion has clouded his judgement at times. The facts remain the same though. Spearing should not have started the game as he has yet to prove himself a capable deputy for Lucas. Henderson was overwhelmed again on the big stage, and while he has definite talent that will eventually flourish, he should have been spared that humiliation yesterday. I genuinely believe that we would have won the cup if Andy Carroll had played from the start.

The crux of the dilemma is that if it was anybody other than KK (who I love to bits) there would be a serious witch-hunt being conducted. Unfortunately the game has changed in the last twenty years and is constantly evolving. To some extent KK has been left behind as he has been away from the cutting edge for so long. Newer and more contemporary ideas may be required to push us on with Kenny being employed in a role that reflects the legendary status that he will always retain.

Need to ask the Ed's a question about Reina.He was bad today but ive been saying for a while that he has been playing bad and i for one would defo cash in on him....So the question to the Ed's is do they think there is a chance big or small that Reina could be sold?...YNWA!! {Ed022's Note - Doubtful mate.}

I agree reina as been poor this season think hes had enough and may try to leave in the summer for ucl football

Give the man a break !! he's been consistent for how many seasons ? how many attack's has he ever set up with his massive throw's and kick's let alone his save's

I totally agree...reina has been v poor this season. badly beaten at his near post by gambling for the far stick today. First and foremost as a keeper you protect your near post..that would not happen to Joe Hart or Shay Given for example...he cost us points at craven cottage earlier in season too and was beaten again at his near post by RVP at anfield and let in a soft goal up at sunderland not to mention throwing his toys out of the pram at Newcastle. We give other players a hard time but i think he needs to look at his performances this season too..

Reina has been bad this season alright but before you start asking for Reina to leave remember one thing.

Xabi Alonso was pretty bad for once season aswell before Rafa tried to sell him. Form is temporary, class is permanent... YNWA!

Just get xavi valero back.

If we can get a better keeper for less then he would sell for at lower wages, then I think it makes sense to let him go, especially if it's something he even sort of desires. The last part is the unknown for me- does he want to leave or not? I think the financial side of it is doable though as I seem to recall he's one of our more highly paid players (?)

eds,
do you think the owners will look at unai emery? {Ed022's Note - Possibly.}

Ed, does he speak good English, as think it would help if he did, a bit like Capello when he first came to be England's manager?

Keith {Ed022's Note - I'm not sure, perhaps another poster could answer?}

05 May 2012 20:19:49
Ed...first of all I thank you for doing an excellent job here. I guess today's result will prove a watershed. Kenny will as you've stated be moving out but above all we need to add quality in the midfield, both wings, a left back and a striker. Kenny couldn't get the best out of this squad. It's sad really. I had high expectations that KK would be the one. Ed, when do you think an announcement about Kenny's future will be made? We really need a top replacement fast otherwise we'll miss our transfer targets. {Ed022's Note - At the end of the season mate.}

Dont treat Kenny like Roy Hodgson....and dont go running to some foreign gimp to replace him....You'll never walk alone....does that actually mean anything any more other than a cheap t-shirt slogan?

Poor signings,poor formation, poor tactics. Why persevere with Downing and not play Maxi? Why bother with Spearing and Henderson? Why no Shelvey? Why not start with Carroll?

It's not just a slogan you're right but also at the same time we can't say that KK hasn't made a right mess of some things at the club his signings especially and today his poor starting decisions. If it was anybody else you would have called for his head. I have faith in Kenny but its slowly declining and I also believe he will move on but once again its for the owners to decide not us I suppose.

Sorry but you scousers have spent a year slagging Carroll off now because you lost final he's great,you have never played to his strength

Eds, is there a danger of a new manager coming in and getting rid of Carroll? {Ed022's Note - Not if they were watching today.}

Why on earth do you want to get rid of Carroll?? You have to be an absolute t**t mate!

He is a good player, I don't think he would be allowed to leave

I didn't watch the match as soon as I realised Carroll's name wasn't there. Can anyone tell me if he played goo when he came on? All I know is that he scored.

Mate are you off ur head he was unplayable when he came on he looked a 35m player today must admit never thought id see the day but to me hes looking more and more a licerpiol player come on andy carroll

Carroll was incredible today when he came on. Worked really really hard and I think it's about time that the people slagging him off need support him cos it doesn't help him at all but with support he could turn up well.

Also I always seem to think Suarez plays better with Carroll because he gets more freedom and support.

Andy Carroll was immense! ... His appearance changed the game. Only KK can explain why he wasn't brought on a lot earlier. He should have been. Outstanding performance.

Just a question, are these the same people that were slating big Any up until yesterday evening?

He was good, but Liverpool got very one dimensional I found. Goal keeper to Carroll knock, down. It can be effective but it's not great football to watch. Carroll dfeinately made an impact and a good player to have in the team

We were far from one-dimensional after Carroll's inclusion. We actually played much better football, the pass and move was there for all to see.

Hi Ed, we the fans know that you are holding information back regarding targets etc, but please please give us some good news! What do you know about a new manager? Name the possible replacements!

{Ed022's Note - I wish I could mate, but there is no news at all. But by the look on Henry's face for most of the match, I'd say there'll be some news soon.}

Ed022...and by news please dont add to the sack kenny bulls**t {Ed022's Note - I don't understand your post, speak proper English.}

Ed never said"sack Kenny", just relayed some fans opinions.I don't want to see Kenny sacked but I do not want him as manager next season.Maybe DoF, I don't know.That role means different things to different people, but I think Kenny will walk.

D of F is merely an appeasement it's making a person vice president just to reward failure if the bloke has failed don't reward him you sad sacs

Could Moussa Sissoko be our very own Ramires? Clearly we also need a Mata type player. {Ed022's Note - I don't rate him personally, but I have player profiled him.}

WE could have had Mate, Could'nt me. Mata did leave the door open but we went for downing because he was English. Mata would have saved our season and won us the cup. WE also would have played "Football". Did say this at the start of the season. Told you so.

Quite an open question to the Ed's, but see if you can bare with me a moment and see if we can get some clarity, whilst understanding it's mainly theory and conjecture at this point.

With many now thinking Kenny will step aside maybe with a shove from the board!?

Who is in the running to take over and what type of manager in terms of tactics would Liverpool be looking at for next season?

I think whoever it is will end up being an untested gamble, either first time at a ''big club with big expectations, or first time managing in the Prem, but is there a high chance of Steve Clarke leaving as well, with a new manager likely to bring in his own coaching staff?

Or would it most likely just be a Manager coming in?

Obviously just thoughts and opinions at this point, but would enjoy reading them.

Thanks Ed's n' well done Ed002.

Ollieston. {Ed022's Note - It's too early to say who the board will be looking at, but I have a funny feeling they will most likely look to current PL managers, or managers who have PL experience. That's just my opinion though, not based on information.}

Brendan Rodgers perhaps? Love his style of football but could be prone to being obsessed with British based players again just as Kenny was. Rafa could be a choice and why not look at his previous targets David Silva, David Villa etc etc. I know he has had a few bad ones with Morientes and the like but he had ideas. Just a thought

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - If Harry leaves (which he probably won't now) then I know spurs are very interested in taking on Rodgers. But perhaps.}

Rodgers has done extremely well with Swansea but then AVB did even better at Porto and it did not work for him.
Pretty sure Steve Clarke will go.

That's the wrong way to look at it look at the majority of they players we signed (EPL exp). unless its rafa who knows the team as his team is still the core today bar luis and enrique.

05 May 2012 19:45:54
HEY ED's you say you expect Kenny to go but who do you honestly think can replace him and do a good job im really confused on whos out there that can make us better i wouldnt mind benitez but it looks very unlikely that he'll leave plz eds any ideas
lfc_all_day {Ed022's Note - I know who I would like, but realistically I'm unsure who the owners would look at. I would personally love Lowe, Bielsa or AVB. I know I'll get slated for wanting AVB but watch me give a crap.}

Avb I think is a good choice he wasn't given respect at Chelsea {Ed022's Note - He tried to change things at Chelsea and actually give them a bright future, without player power etc. He is very very good tactically, and an all around nice bloke.}

Would you say thers a chance wth those 3 managers and i dont think the board will take AVB after it didnt work out with chelsea can i ask Why AVB seeming as he had the same team as RDM but wasnt doing the same?
LFC ALL DAY

Agree Ed. think avb would be a good choice. Liverpool would have to give him some time though.
Part of me would love Maureen. Think he's a quality manager but can't see him leaving Madrid anytime soon.

AVB deserves another chance IMO.

AVB would have a burning desire to prove to everyone just exactly what he can do. The job he started a Chelsea is well underway at Liverpool with regards to bringing in the best youth possible. We have a bright future

AVB would be outstanding - very tactical which lets face it is what we lack at the minute, can attract big name players and has an eye for talent

Ed. i actually agreee with you about avb just because it not work out at chelsea dont mean it not work at liverpool i see what he was trying to do there but too many egos . with us not as many egos but still some and if he is clever he appoint someone who is liverpool like phil thompson etc to work alongside him. {Ed022's Note - Could be a good shout mate!}

05 May 2012 19:42:29
Eds what u think of kenny now. Surly he will step a side and poor signing will leave now {Ed022's Note - I've covered this about 5 times in the space of 4 minutes. I expect him to leave.}

05 May 2012 19:36:27
Hi Ed after todays defeat what do u think kk remains our manager next season i very much doubt on it. what do u think downing carroll henderson adam will sold or they remain for the next season. i hope all of them leave and new players will come. otherwise we will be in rekegation battle. thanx ed ur response wil appreciate. {Ed022's Note - Kenny will probably leave, and I expect those players to stay.}

Henderson and downing played well today but if carrol started we would have won

Kenny will NOT be leaving. The result today has no bearing. He'll be manager next season, and providing the owners see further progress, the season after that too {Ed022's Note - Thank you Miss Voyant.}

Carroll was an absolute beast today... If anyone should leave it should be spearing and henderson

I thought we played great in the second half and deserved to be level, i also thought carroll, henderson and downing played well in that second half, carroll scored a good first goal and was robbed of his second! cheers. LFC DAN YNWA

That is the first time we have seen the real Andy Carroll.Have to admit I don't think Spearo will ever be really good enough and Downing is disappointing but with the right guidance I think Hendo will come good.
I will be very surprised if Kenny is still manager next season.

I agree above..

Yes sell all the players and buy new ones now.
Veruca Salt.

Henderson and Downing played very well today. Carroll was brilliant. We would have won if it wasn't for a disgraceful decision

If kenny leaves what would stop the next manager in sellings those players?

05 May 2012 19:36:12
Macca, Eds - no sitting on the fence please. What's your gut feeling about Liverpool manager for next season?

Gav the Red {Ed022's Note - I don't think it will be Kenny, put it that way.}

Ed okay slate me if you want but i really suspect that u want kenny to go. I know your only going to say its your opinion but surely kenny should be given at least another year to try to fix things. You are entitled to your opinion but why do you think he will be gone?

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - I think he will be gone because at the start of the season he was set 3 targets for the season after £100 million was spent. 1- Win the Carling Cup. 2 - Win the FA Cup. 3 - Finish in the top 4. Kenny only achieved one, he came 2nd in another (which isn't bad), and is 8th in the league, way way off of 4th. The fans are unhappy, the owners are unhappy, and the players are unhappy so why shouldn't I expect him to go? Liverpool have been very poor in the league, and were very poor in the final excluding 1/3rd, but is that good enough? Has this season been a success? No, it hasn't.}

I definitely see your points ed 022. But who in all honesty could we attract manager wise to fill the gaps and who is as revered as Kenny? If this was happening to lets say Houllier or Hodgson they would have been gone by January.
Thanks for the reply though it really brought me up to speed on events.

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - That's fine mate. I don't know if I'm honest, it's really difficult to answer without a DoF, as they usually give an indication of who the club wants etc.}

I hope he gets 1 more season

And I though our clubs mantra was 'You'll never walk alone......' unless you lose and players dont step up in games....seriously

Roy hodgson has won as many games at anfield in 2012 as kenny dalglish (liverpool 0-1 west brom / liverpool 3-0 everton). Now thats shocking - kenny has to go

05 May 2012 19:28:31
in all honesty whou would have played instead of henderson and spearing shelvy? dont think so its not kennys fault lucas got injured but he should also have started andy
lfc_all_day

P.S whats wrong with reina these days? ED is this one of the reasons our gk coach was sacked {Ed022's Note - Probably, as Reina is awful at the moment and has been all season. I would have played Shelvey ahead of Spearing to be honest.}

Yes it is his fault, he sold Meireles and signed Henderson and opted not to sign a defensive midfielder in Jan when we were crying out for 1

You would have said spearing should have started if Kenny started shelvey instead because we would have been too open. Kenny can't get it right the whole time. He is'nt physcic. Support the man. We have made huge stides under him. Come on fellow reds.! YNWA.

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - I forgot that you were some sort of mind-reading omniscient mystic. Please forgive me.}

Sorry mate just really disappointed by todays events. Goal-line technology has to be introduced. Think back to Lampard against Germany in the World Cup quaters and nothing was done about it. Its ridiculous that it hasnt been introduced.

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - Yes I agree completely.}

Reina has been poor since our old goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero left with Rafa

Dan

Meireles left because he wanted his wages raised when he was entitled too

Dan

What's funny about this is that my brother said that carroll would own the game if he had started I agreed because andy is alot bigger than terry and ivanovic combined so yeah to bad for liverpool should have wan deserved to win and it's sad about kenny

For the record, Henderson was our second best player yesterday. By a long distance.

TSP

Shelvey and henderson play good together but either of them play on their own alongside some then they don't play that good.

05 May 2012 19:22:18
eds what if chelsea goes on to win the UCL and they arent in 4th place, will they get a spot in UCL next season, what about us, where are we gonna be in europa league, will we have to avoid the qualifying round if chelsea win the UCL.

redh0t {Ed022's Note - They'll get a spot mate.}

As things stand, Chelsea are in the group stage of next season's Europa League, while Liverpool are in the 3rd qualifying round as League Cup winners.

If Chelsea win the Champions League, then they get a spot in the group stage of next year's competition. Liverpool then get their slot in the group phase of the Europa League.

05 May 2012 19:17:28
Eds do think kd will leave as soon as sunday because he just make 22year old cry {Ed022's Note - Lol. I doubt he'll leave before the end of the season.}

KD should do the right thing and step down tonight! Our midfield looked like a conference team!

Why was Kenny not playing carroll from start.. and why the hell is henderson even in the squad forget playing 11. why was kuyt not given a chance.. Kenny must resign.. no disrespect but he is not the man to take us forward. that man has got his head wrong... 3 different formations inside first 45 min says it all.. he is a confused soul

05 May 2012 18:36:52
Eds we are looking at right winger and striker we need a team spearing not good downing poor all season enrique dipp in form if don't spend big we will be in relegation next season am so piss kk leave nw {Ed022's Note - Yes we are.}

Spearing was awful today and downing totally inefective. It's great seeing Carroll playing well again and he will be ace next year.

If I were Kenny I would do this:

Out:
Spearing
Downing
Kuyt

In:
A Striker (Little man mould - Owen/Defoe)
2 Wingers who can dribble and make a good cross, with nice shot too.

Next season we'll have Lucas back and 2 or 3 of the youngsters will be able to come through.

Why would you want to have two wingers to cross into a small striker? It's astonishing the level of lack of knowledge regarding how to structure a football squad.

05 May 2012 18:24:22
Eds, how much will the fa cup winner receive? {Ed022's Note - Not very much, 8 million I believe.}

2 million.
Furqan.

Winner 1.8million
Losers 900,000

Not very much! I could do with that kind of money :p

Thats elm price tag

So if we dont get elm then you know its because we didn't win the fa cup

From today's Japan Times:
Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa will decide whether to stay with Borussia Dortmund or transfer after the German Cup final on May 12, German newspaper Bild reported Friday. "The earliest I can finalize my decision will be after the German Cup final," Kagawa was quoted as saying in an interview with Bild amid transfer rumors. Asked if he might stay with the Bundesliga champions amid enthusiastic calls from Dortmund fans, Kagawa said, "I've been moved by what I hear from fans and teammates. I'll take my time and consult with my agent before making the final decision." Kagawa's contract with Dortmund expires in summer 2013. He has been linked to European giants such as Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan.
-SH-

If it's not a Liverpool rumours, why post it here? A lot of energy is going into Kagawa at the moment, but i don't know why.

I think Shinji had a good season last year, but this year has been woeful and Dortmund are engineering his exit t cash in on him, where better than in England!

Going to United - don't kid yourself

Why post it here? 1) because a great many Liverpool fans are interested where the player is going, and 2) because someone else posted some garbage here from Twitter saying that he had announced he is going to the Mancs, which he has not. Just trying to be helpful. He can join Queen of the South for all I care. -SH-

hai ed great site,

OK peeps, match day is upon us. For those of you who will not be at the game:“

HOW TO WATCH LIVERPOOL ON THE INTERNET

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every Liverpool match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/ spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super“speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Happy watching.

Diagne

GO REDSSSSSSSSSS

Ed's would beating Chelsea today in the Cup final raise the clubs profile with potential players and agents after are dodgy season in the League?

No doubt Liverpool is a massive name in football, but of late (last few seasons) the league performances have been questionable. So would a win today help establish us with potential players, that maybe looked at the league and scoffed at our position prior?

If we can beat the current Champions League finalists, in a domestic cup final, surely some players will take notice and see potential in the team and project, especially if cups and being lifted.

I know Champions League is the holy grail for most top profile players, but surely the chance of 1st team football in the Prem is a good carrot on a stick.

Thoughts?

Cheers, Ollieston {Ed022's Note - It's entirely subjective mate. It will attract some players more than others put it that way.}

Yeh the ones from League 1 wouldn't see it as a problem.

05 May 2012 16:01:32
Great to see Raheem Stirling on the pitch before the match amongst the likes of Gerrard and Suarez. Bench role maybe? {Ed022's Note - Perhaps.}

I agree, it was great. It's good to see him really being included in the first team squad.

05 May 2012 15:26:43
eds, when are the fixtures for next season gonna be available?
{Ed022's Note - In the summer mate.}

05 May 2012 15:11:37
{Ed022's Note - brand new player profile on Markel Susaeta of Athletic Bilbao. Linked with Liverpool FC in recent times, and would be a fairly cheap option for you reds fans. www.player-profiles.co.uk - If you have any questions etc then post it over on that site and not this one so I can reply directly. Cheers all!}

Great work mate..

BLANCO7 {Ed022's Note - Thanks mate.}

05 May 2012 14:48:28
Hey Ed's
Wondering if we could get kolo toure from man city. Looks like a great defender and not playing alot with city {Ed022's Note - No chance mate.}

Overrated

I'd sooner sign his granny and her playing days are long over.

05 May 2012 14:26:36
Rumour has it round anfield is that ROBBIE FOWLER is coming back. Don't know as what tho atm. This true?! {Ed022's Note - Doubtful.}

To do his coaching badges maybe

Yeah i heard ages ago he was coming back in a low level coaching role with the idea of completing his qualifications but it never happened, maybe in the summer cos it seems were sacking lots of people. id be glad to see him back.

05 May 2012 14:24:51
hey ed wat do u think are chances are on soldado {Ed022's Note - Possible, but I'd say it depends on if other clubs go in for him also.}

Ed do you know if there is any other clubs you would expect to bid for him cheers! {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - check out the profile on Soldado and it's all covered for you there mate.}

05 May 2012 14:05:41
Could you do an update on the players we have the most interest in if you have a chance? cheers

Also, could anybody let me know when the teams come out for today? I would appreciate it very much thanks!

YNWA.

{Ed022's Note - No developments mate.}

05 May 2012 13:58:10
Eds what's the deal with Chu-Young Park? he's made 1 apppearence for Arsenal, and with the German arriving in summer, he'll only fall furthe down the pecking order. would he be available, and would he be worth looking at? {Ed022's Note - Perhaps he will be available, but too early to say me thinks.}

Don't be an idiot

I suspect that Wenger might have found out he is just not good enough for the EPL.

Canadian Fan

I thought I had read somewhere in an article that he had to go serve in the Korean army fairly soon?

05 May 2012 13:50:04
Hi Ed, do you think we will buy Zaha? I heard he is available for £4M? {Ed022's Note - Nope.}

Such optimism

Does anyone know what is happening with Daniel Agger. I've heard from a source which i believe fully that Barca had put in a bid for him, and that we were considering accepting it.
Rickbond {Ed022's Note - An old story being recycled mate.}

Stop talking rubbish

05 May 2012 11:43:13
Ed's i sometimes look in here, Soldado looks from what iv'e seen like a fantastic replacement for Torres, in fact the bits i have seen he easily could be the Torres of the future, I understand munian is exceptional too but i'd also risk Liorente'
that would definately bolster our quality,
Any chance? {Ed022's Note - No chance of Llorente really mate, we tried to sign him last January and Bilbao had none of it.}

05 May 2012 11:36:55
Hi eds not a rumour but a question. I appreciate your not economist but can you shed some light on the 50 million loss reported by Liverpool for this season. Do these figures imply that we struggling financially and are looking at financial struggles going forward or is there something someone like me who does not understand how corporations like fsg work is not struggling to see the bigger picture? Clubs like united and arsenal seem to be projecting big profits so surely we are losing more and more ground to these teams and looks likes are going to loose more ground in future! (please post and reply if you can)

Riz {Ed022's Note - No it doesn't imply we're struggling. There was always a big loss expected this year mate, with the likes of no European football etc etc. That's the best way to explain it in simple terms, but it doesn't mean we're about to go under and die as a club so don't worry. If we have another loss of the same next year, then we will start to worry a little.}

That isn't the best way to explain it at all! If you read the articles you would know that most of the £50m came from the abandoned stadium designs from Hicks and paying off Roy and his team, losses we are not going to have to right off again.

Ye but even if we consider the £35m that was written off for the stadium project we still down by £14m and very far from actually making any decent profit that could take our club to the next level! {Ed002's Note - There will be another significant loss in next year's accounts as well (to June 2012). Then if the cost cutting continues it may look better the year after. Like it or not, the Champions League football has a significant impact on how the accounts look.}

05 May 2012 12:26:49
ed- are we still intersted in the udinese pair Isla and benatia? {Ed022's Note - Isla is still depending upon injury, and I'm not sure regarding Benatia.}

Isla is interesting napoli, arsenal, inter and real madrid and benatia is interesting napoli, arsenal, anzhi and man united

05 May 2012 12:23:14
Kagawa to TV Osaka '12th May will be last game for Dortmund and then I will start a new chapter in Manchester United. '"

Sounds like he's definitely not coming. {Ed022's Note - I haven't seen or heard this at all, but fair enough.}

This is from twitter.. {Ed022's Note - It must be true then.}

05 May 2012 11:15:27
Todays team confirmed. Reina johnson skrtel agger enrique downing henderson spearing gerrard bellamy suarez

Stewart downing aint in the team today maxi rodriguez is playing

Seriously, what is Jay Spearing's appeal? He is a sub-standard player who wouldn't be anywhere near that team if he wasn't a scouser. Why does Kenny insist on playing him when we have a quality central midfielder in JonJo Shelvey! {Ed022's Note - Spearing offers more of a defensive mindset I expect is the reason.}

Team for today
Gk Reina
RB Johnson
CB Carrragher
CB Skrtel
LB Agger
RM Henderson
CM Gerrard
CM Spearing
LM Downing
ST Carroll
ST Suarez

Certainly not confirmed

Jay Speaking will disappear against Chelsea midfield. Not that he's a shirker, but he's just not at the level required.
If Shelvey had a better defensive range of play, he'd be a shoe-in

If that is true Downing has a lot to prove. Has not earned a place.Hope he is not on the right as he seems to restrict Johnsons attacking chances.

Thats via Duncan Jenkins who is supposedly always correct. Glad to see Bellamy playing.

Well done pal you got it spot on

05 May 2012 10:35:59
Hi ed's don't know how true this is? But some1 rold me that john toshack as been approached fir the DOF posisition? He could be 1 of a list fsg have put toghether! Have any ed's heard anything? BIG DAVE, Y..N..W..A Good Luck Boys today! We should attack chelski from the start! They've had 2 very hard games against chelsea and than against newcastle in a game they needed to win! NO REGRETS LEFT ON THE PITCH! Pepe this is the game to show who the top keeper in the prem is! SUAREZ v TORRES, GERRARD v LAMPARD, TERRY v AGGER, REINA v CECH, no contest I'll have pepe, agger, sytevie g, and suarez all day!

Reina over cech lol agger over terry lol

Im a red but terry is a better defender than agger and lampard is playing out of his skin so gerrard wont have it all his own way.

LFC-IRE {Ed022's Note - Terry is not better than Agger.}

Lmao @ Terry. That dude cracks under pressure Agger play the ball from the back. Btw Agger's technical skill is amazing 4 a defender...

Haha clearly this ed is a liverpool fan coz terry is better than agger

05 May 2012 09:39:47
Hi Eds, love the site. Just curious if we were to sign junior hoilett on a free, would we have to pay compensation to blackburn? If so, would it not be easier to make a formal offer? Hope we sign him we've needed someone with pace and creativity like his for a while now {Ed002's Note - Yes, compensation would have to be paid. He would be out of contract so there is no one to make a "formal offer" to.}

05 May 2012 09:35:20
Ed do you know if we have an interest in nuri sahin? {Ed002's Note - Sahin has had injury problems this year but rumours do persist about his long term future. If he were to leave I would very much suspect a move to Italy (possibly with Juventus) or a return to Germany would come before any thoughts of a move to England. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan and Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey.}

05 May 2012 01:59:54
Hi Ed, is it true that we have already agreed terms with 2 of 5 of our targets? I am talking about a striker and attacking midfield player? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

I haven't heard anything to be honest

I assume that you are talking about Rasmus Elm and Jackson Martinez. No these are only rumours.

Red Head {Ed022's Note - Martinez is pure rumour at the moment, Elm there is confirmed interest.}

Probably thinking elm and LDJ/soldado right? havent heard anything about it

04 May 2012 23:11:57
Reina on his way to Malaga.

Hope not, there's a game tomorrow.

He's not going anywhere, he has said publicly he's happy and looking forward to the future.

Posted this two weeks ago and got slaughtered, but it will happen!

I got told in January he was going there, they submitted a bit that met his release clause (25m ish) but he requested to wait until the end of the season, so we'll see. I hope he stays though.

Malaga signed a good keeper in january[kameni]

Oh no he isn't

Think he's going there for his Holidays.
Great place really lively:)

And i am on my way to wembley {Ed022's Note - Lucky buggar!}

Just down the road from me, I will keep my eye's open for him. :-)
CR

In his interview talking bout Torres etc he says he talks to a lot of the players that left and say not one of them dont regret leaving Liverpool so i doubt it, he knows the grass isnt always greeener.

If he want's to go, then let him go. Can't blame the lad if he want's a bit of sun on his back in Malaga. He's served the club well (not a patch on Grobbelaar mind)and hopefully we can get a good price for him. Plenty of quality GK's out there to replace him.

Not a patch on grobelaar are u kidding we lost games in hotel rooms back in his days

04 May 2012 22:48:42
Spuds trying to hijack Elm deal but the player has told them hes not interested, hes agreed to join LFC....kendoddsdadsdog.

Eds,
Would this be a realistic summer?

ST: Roberto Soldado
RW: Younes Belhanda
AM: Shinji Kagawa
CM: Rasmus Elm

{Ed001's Note - I doubt we will get Kagawa, he is keen on United and they seem keen on him. But you never know until a player signs on the dotted line, after all they might get a different target and not want him.}

No not at all
What we need is
Adam Johnson
Clint Dempsey
Scott Dann
Maybe Leighton Baines
