Just watched the under 21s and can someone tell me why Joe Cole gets his chances but Pacheco does seem too. I'd much rather see him in the team hes been excellent for
Rodolfos team reentry

RedDan

The ghost of Hodgson still haunts Liverpool to the tune of £90,000K a week. {Ed002's Note - It was not RH who agreed to by Cole.}

rogers is waiting on the fitness of neil taylor when he makes a comeback from his injury. think what you want the lad fits in with rogers policy, neil has been in constant contact with rogers for a few months now and is desparate to join liverpool, trust me as a wrexham lad neil was liverpool mad and loves brendons style of play,

I think he is a good player reminds me bit like Baines at first was litle known and now everyone wants him, but if we get him would it dampen Robinsons chances of 1st team football, as he is gonna be a fantastic player.

He is out for the season mate

Hi eds,
Do you know if we have any interest in soldado form valencia.I think he would suit our style of play. Thanks ssg {Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool did show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he has signed a new deal.}

Hey ed001 or 002! A lot of rumours flying around about Huntelaar joining in January, and I know that you have told us that he is a possibility! But what I would like to know with some people claiming that he's getting close to joining us do you know if the club has been in contact with Schalke? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I was told on Friday taht two clubs have spoken with Schalke recently - neither was Liverpool.}

Ed who were the 2 clubs? {Ed002's Note - Napoli and Lazio.}

Oh okey, cheers mate:) do you have any idea if we have an interest in him at all? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - Schalke certainly do not want to sell Huntelaar as it is going very well for him in Gelsenkirchen and they want him to sign a two year extension to his contract - and he wants to only sign for a further year. This is the reason for the impasse not him waiting on someone to make an offer. However, Schalke said that they would likely sell if he refuses to agree any contract extension, and he hasn't - although that threat was there in the summer and they didn't sell. Fiorentina, Napoli, CSKA and Atletico Madrid have shown an interest with Napoli and Lazio appearing the most likely destinations if he were to move in January, but several EPL sides are still looking for a striker: Arsenal (but they have other clear targets), Chelsea (again he is by no means near the top of the shopping list) Spurs and Liverpool - both of which could be potentially be interested at the right price. There is a valuation based on a buy out clause of 20M euros that Schalke might want to try and exercise.}

Very detailed reply, ed. Thanks for all the eds do on this site. You guys don't get enough praise. Cheers.

Hello Ed002,
is there any truth in rumours that Enrique might be sold in Jan or summer next year? If so, why? Too old, too expensive, not good enough or the manager doesn`t want him? I think he played very well in the last two matches and I`d be happy to keep him. thanks for your comments. {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it, sorry.}

Ed002 do you know if we are currently watching any left-backs, if so who? Cheers. {Ed002's Note - I cannot think of any right now that Liverpool are known to be interested in.}

Give Enrique a break folks! He's been injured and just coming back. Fickle bunch you are

I thought he was pretty terrible against Newcastle. Apart from his hoof to Suarez all he did was give the ball away and was at fault for their goal

Wasn't great vs Everton or Newcastle. Neglects his defensive duties....thankfully he's pacy to cover the sheer amount of msitakes he makes. Started brillitantly when 1st arrived,downhillsince. BR needs to take him to 1 side for a word

Yes Enrique is already on burrowed time.mget him out he is sh!t

05 Nov 2012 17:54:26
Ed002 what sort of fee do you think huntelaar would go for in jan if he hasn't signed a new deal? cheers {Ed002's Note - Schalke want 20M euro - he will likely go for less if he leaves.}

Hi Eds,
Is there any interest in W.Bony from Vitesse ?
Thanks ! {Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool as far as I know.}

Bony is a beast and he would score goals for us

Ahead of a potentially busy January window, from my source I can reveal that both Huntelaar and Walcott's agents have been contacted and the former has expressed a great deal of interest in joining LFC, he didn't say anything regarding Walcott other than what's stated above. Also interest in Gary Hooper if he is made available for the right price. And we might see a 'marquee' signing if the funds are raised from sales of Downing, Cole and maybe even Enrique.

Passing on what I know, YNWA

Just a quick one,

People need to remember we have Suarez and Borini at the club, so i can't see 3 strikers coming in, which will take us to 5 strikers vying for 1 possibly 2 slots?

Huntelaar and Walcott seem most likely but both depending on their current contract issues,

I also expect a LB to come in!

ColeDowningEnrique all surplus and will go if offers arrive, can't see any offers on those 3 till very late in the Window. so a LB may depend on some or all of the 3 leaving

Firstly we need as many strikers as possible. Walcott and huntelaar would be great. Glen Johnson is our new left back with jack Robinson as back up

Id say without being harsh that borini is nowhere near the quality required

After what Enrique showed yesterday- the great partnership he has with Suarez, I doubt he'll be leaving.

05 Nov 2012 22:57:03
how the hell is enrique 'surplus' he's much better than the rest of our left backs, and then we can stick johnson back on the right.

Johnson is too injury prone unfortunately and can only play about 60% of games

Three attacking players

a striker
a winger
and an attacking midfielder

Enrique is surplus because he cannot pass the ball without giving it away, have you not been watching him lately? everytime he has the ball and put under the slightest bit of pressure he gives possession away, his crossing from out wide is diabolical !

Borini cannot be classed as a first team striker. He is simply not good enough for the first team and his performances before he got injured have proved that. I say put him in the shop window when he regains fitness and get rid while we can, albeit at a loss

How many times do we have to say this, we desperatly desperatly need GOALS, like it or not Hunterlaar would defiantly get us GOALS, weather or not we can persuade him to join is another thing. Also Hunterlaar and Suarez played together at Ajax between 2007 - 2009 and scored an amazing 125 goals/assists between them, pretty damn impressive so how likely is a reunion i wonder ..

BigD

Lass jan huntelaar liverpools number 10

Might as well go for a proven Orem goal scorer in the likes of bent.

I don't believe we are in for hunts in anyway.

If we can persuade him to come to liverpool i believe he'll be scoring good for about 3-4 seasons, he's the type of player who plays well into his 30's

Liverpool have rejected several enquiry's from both Arsenal and Spurs and Man City for Raheem Sterling. Ridiculously low numbers were offered for English footballs hottest young property. FSG have told them they would only consider offers well in excess of £25mil or not to bother even contacting them. Mike Marsh is good mates with my brother, he also said that Brendan Rogers has lined up 3 players for January, 2 of them very very interested in joining LFC and all of them are potential 1st teamers for the starting 11.

John boy

Did your brother know these 3 players names?

Both implies 2 teams not 3 (Arsenal, Spurs & City).

Nah mate, he didn't say who they were like, but he did say one of the players has prem experience, and will score goals in the system were playing in. :)

Good mates? Hey. Theo Walcott and Huntellar very interested in joining Liverpool. 25M for a 17 year old?

Shocking that any price would be put on him. We can't sell our brightest young players. Sterling, Suso, Texeira, Ibe, Adorjan are future. Need to come through together like Barca did. Prooves it works. Benitez Started the ball rolling and Rodlfo is doing an amzing job. 1-0 down againstr Wolves at half time and end up winning 5-1 in the under 21s.

25M for sterling is very reasonable. Man utd paid 25.6M for Rooney at just 18 years old.

Phill

Phill, Man Utd paid 25.6 million for Rooney in 2004 and admittedly it was on the back of an explosive Euro's for Rooney, but it is nearly 9 years ago Rooney was bought for that money and we all know how we live in inflationary times.

I wouldn't let him go for much less what FSG has apparently been quoted as eluding to. We have to pay QPR 4 million if Sterling plays a certain amount of games, i think, if we were to receive £25 million before having to pay QPR their cut we'd be about 4.4 million up before counting the money from any potential buyer such as City or Chelsea.

I'd rather keep the lad and he becomes a Wing goal machine but it's the badge, the ground and the club i love. I've learnt in the modern era players, every single one has their price. I'm just chuffed Gerrard turned back around on the motorway.

Hey all reds been hearin that torres is returning don't no how true imagine him and super super suarez together up front but I doubt it I think we shud use morgan or yesil wat we got to lose JON96 YNWA {Ed023's Note - We will have this every pre-transfer window until Torres retires I say}

Torres is finished ..... accept it , or take up darts !

I think even after he retires..

Dear ed, the rumours will still be here AFTER he retires, people even want john barnes back or fowler, both are as old as my dad.

Torres is a judas. We don't want him anywhere near our football club

Torres is not the be all and end all - let him go! plus during his next game watch how many times his ball control leads to a loss of possession; minimum of 8 i'll say!

I hope he did return wud b fantastic ,,,, el nino n suarez ouchhhhhhhhhh

Number 9 is returning to Liverpool. Forget about Huntelar etc etc....

Liverpools number 9 gave us a hint in October. He`ll be back scoring goals.

You heard it here first.

Who?? Carroll? Torres? Fowler? {Ed023's Note - Ian Rush lol}

Is it Ian Rush?

What rush has come out of retirement {Ed023's Note - Since when was he retired? He has been playing with Accrington Stanley for years}

I really hope not as that guy has went to the dogs

Get a grip.

AP

Isn't Ian Rush a bit old now?? lol

Must be GOD even at 36 he's still got it ...

BigD

I still can't believe El Hadj Diouf wore the famous No.9 shirt for 2 whole seasons, the worst thing Houllier ever did.

Sean Dundee?

Is it the number 9 bus ?

Torres will never come back .galaxy

Number Nine. Yes andy Carroll

Heskey
Collymore

Why not number seven kenny Dalglish

Yeap, Torres back and i guess we can also recall Andy Carroll and forget about signing any more strikers!!. A front three of Suarez Torres and Sterling and if in need of change of tactics, Suarez and Torres as Wing Forwards and Carroll as big man upfront??. Not bad....*goes back to dreamland*...=)

Morning Ed's,

One of you guys said that Huntellaar's situation at Shalke had changed recently...

Is that just the fact that he wants a longer contract than they are willing to offer, so time is running out and they might be more likely to cash in at a price that might be within our constraints - or hashe asked for a move / fallen out with the manager / or something else?

He would obviously fit the bill for us, so fingers crossed!

Ta

Eddie {Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

Ed001, i believe it was explained clearly that one or more of the Ed's understanding of the Huntelaar situation have changed and i believe that this was typed either yesterday or the Saturday night before.

So i've read mixed signals from the Ed's as well as this particular poster having the same concern. Not having a dig in any way, just trying to bridge the overlap. It's only natural that all the Ed's have their own opinions as well as statements of fact or truth and on some subjects or issues no doubt there are 'authorities'' amongst you because of things like location and sources for certain areas and clubs or whatever.

I'm glad this is happening, it shows an honesty within the team of Ed's, one feels this another has that on good authority etc. Plays for a better web site and hopefully a bit of fun for the readers.

Love the site and am very glad to be allowed back and unblocked at last. (i personally didn't think there was cause) but water under the bridge, i served by time and ban and am back with well rested fingers. :)

BoriniCanDoIt {Ed001's Note - we just try to give the best info we have, it does change, right now Huntelaar's situation is very fluid. Up until a couple of days ago his club were confident of him signing a new deal and were asking for a price of 20m to sell him. Now they are no longer confident and that asking price is shaky in the extreme, I am sure they would now accept a much reduced fee in January.}

Liverpool have approached FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez.

Agent X

That is complete and utter nonsense if we wanted him then we could of brought him in the summer before he moved to FC Porto for £9m, are the ones publishing this rubbish.

BigD

"Agent X" - love the name. Really makes me feel like a real football agent has taken time off his busy schedule to post lies on this site.

More like Agent Orange!!

hi eds heard from a good source that br is looking to sell cole for 3mil just to get him of the books in jan supposedly been in talks with lille to give them 1st option also looking to sell downing with fulham and stoke supposedly being interested. enrique could also be sold on if a replacement can be found as he feels robinson needs a little bit more time before 1st team action. targets are the obvious walcott, hooper but he could bring in a "marquee signing" if funds are raised reportedly from spain

£3m?? we just want him off the wage bill. Nobody will take him for free because of his wages.

Hasn't rodgers bemoaned the squad depth? if so we wouldn't sell the same amount as we buy, we'd just be buying and maybe ridding of joe (i'll have that 90k a week, thankyou) cole.

SuperDuperSuarez

As if we could get 3 mil for Cole? If anything we'd be paying to get rid of him due to his wages

We need all our goalscoring, pacy, and creative midfielders, and when we "Buy" one we'll keep them !!

Joke, £3 million?
We will never get that for Cole. I guess we will be lucky to get £1 million, if (and it is a big if) anyone will pay his wages....
Who signed that deal, crazy....

3m! are u crazy nobody wants him hes omn high wages injury prone and crap well be lucky to get a free transfer for him and if we do well have to cover most of his wages

Hi eds lots of excitement with the January window coming up...
After hearing Rodgers talk the last couple times, he seems to be 100% sure he's got the money to bring in "a couple strikers" to help Suarez... Apart from the likes of sturridge Walcott hooper... Do u reckon he's got his eyes on more quality players than that? Or is that the kind of signing we should expect? {Ed002's Note - I have said before that there may be interest in Huntelaar.}

Huntelaar has a great goal scoring record. I'm just a lil worried it's too late in the day for a move to the Prem.

If he's still the killer box player then i'll be surprised if we can get a sniff in on signing him. But if we can and he still is the player he was, then we'll be laughing so will Suarez, Rodgers and Huntelaar himself.

The more i let myself think about it the more it makes real good sense.

Really hope we get hunterlaar edd's. Would be a quality addition, and much better the clint Dempsey for a similar amount of money.

AP

Call me negative, but the only results I see from us dabbling into the transfer market in January is being left with the same deflated disappontment once more at its closure.

We'll end up with the same bargain basement rubbish that we've acquired in recent years such as Borini, Downing, Adam etc. Cant see us spending big, certainly not on any marquee players (sorry dreamers and FIFA13 players). Not until the owners realise that you need to speculate a bit to accumulate. The squad needs serious balanced investment, not just one off injections and then back off quietly without giving a new manager any real funding and not just whining on about building for the future as we are desperate for the here and now. Im not talking stupid money like City and Chelsea and not badly overpriced players like we've been duped with, but spent wisely on several players with real quality. And so what if a player is 29 - so long as he can still do a job. Any good side needs a balance of youth mixed with age and experience and its those of the latter that we are desperately short of with class.

I hate being negative, but its the way Im feeling with what Ive seen so far. Not impressed with owners. {Ed023's Note - You call Downing bargain basement buy? He cost 18 million!}

We did get Suarez in jan so we can get good players in the jan window, I think we can only really go for players coming to the end of contract so we get a good player for not massive amounts of wonga

I want Huntelaar, hooper and Walcott

Haha ed23, I meant bargain basement as in ability not cost, but I like your observation!

04 Nov 2012 23:08:34
Hi Eds,
When does the window open? Is it Jan 1st?

And when does it close?

Cheers,

Lee {Ed002's Note - It is open for the month of January.}

Where have you been for the past 20 years.

For the second poster:

I have mostly been away, overseas, serving in the defence force for the past 7 January's.

My deployments were always over christmas and the January period and i am lucky enough to have this (2013) January at home with my family.

I know your question was meant to be ritorical and scarcastic, but i thought i would still answer it anyway, to point out that not everyone benefits from being able to enjoy the transfer window every 6 months, or has the time to mock others for asking a simple question.

Thanks,

Lee

Told him/her straight lol

Well it is called the JANUARY transfer window

04 Nov 2012 22:07:14
ed is there any interest from clubs in suarez?
Is there any interest in Hatem Ben arfa from clubs?

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Yes and yes-ish.}

If we sell Suarez i will sell my season ticket.

I'll buy it

Suarez has just signed a new long term contract. And why would we want bad boy Ben arfa

How much for the season ticket mate

05 Nov 2012 01:12:03
Any interest in Bent from Villa?

He's obviously got problems with the manager and should be getable for close to 10mill. Surely worth looking at since his goal scoring record speaks for itself and would be a perfect foil for Suarez roaming around him. His age could be an issue but he is a natural finisher which we're in dieing need of.

Any views?
