What's the suituation with Everton Ribeiro eds? Liverpool interested? (despite his name)

On the same subject who do you see as the most likely target for the attacking wide player that Brendan has been after since the summer? The long piece below is terrific but it seems the players mentioned there for this position are unlikely.

Much thanks in advance!

{Ed002's Note - (1) There is no situation involving Liverpool at this time. (2) I cannot realistically answer "most likely" questions. However, up until a couple of weeks ago it would have been Salah.}

Hmm, talented but not sure about his desire after pimping himself to Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea of which only United would have a place for him.

Moura or Pastore loan possible?

{Ed002's Note - No, neither will come on loan.}

Aren't Everton Ribeiro's people in talks with Manchester United at the moment?

Ed, anything on lucas moura?

Believable5 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Moura is looking to return to Sao Paulo on loan and there is a deal being tabled that might well suit all three parties - although PSG are not so sure it will suit them as discussions have dragged on. Juventus has a decalred interest if he becomes available. Inter are fearful of having a difficult window and may look to get an early bid in.}

We need to get him in on loan as he would be someone that would go straight into the first team, and return moses to chelsea.

Hey Ed002, I hope all's well. Anyway, no pressure but, if you're not busy, could you provide a brief summary of who we are likely to sign and/or sell in January? Cheers in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I can't answer "likely" questions too easily but you will know that Liverpool has been "linked" to about 2,000 players already in advance of the January window and have indeed already "signed" more than sixty of those players. Take the example of Amartey who is far more sure that he is heading toward Liverpool than I am. It makes little sense to me and he may well just be angling for interest.

It is always necessary to keep in mind that January is not a time when clubs plan to do too much and it is a difficult time to buy.

Whilst folks will quite rightly cite Suarez, Sturridge and PipCo as good January buys, there were specific circumstances leading to the purchase of each. Hodgson knew there was every chance Torres would leave and had been looking for a striker before he himself was moved on. Sturridge was keen to move on for first team football and Chelsea's policy is that they will not stand in the way of a player wanting to leave if an acceptable offer is made. Coutinho was another player not getting the opportunity he felt he deserved in Italy and was looking to move on.

Looking at the short and medium term there are, without anyone leaving, clearly a couple of positions that Liverpool are looking to strengthen – central midfield and a wide forward. Additionally there seems to be a growing argument about left back but I would not see that as a critical matter right now – Enrique might be injured but there is Cissokho, and there are players like Johnson and Kirilou who can fill in. Robinson will be back from his loan in the summer – will he ever het a chance or will he be moved on? However, tentative enquiries have been made about Ryan Bertrand by both Everton and Liverpool since the season began. No approach has yet been made to Chelsea. His agents are, I think, looking to get him in to a first team somewhere. There was a suggestion that Chelsea would ask him if he would like to be offered as part of a deal to Southampton.}

However, I think there are a couple of very real options that Liverpool will be considering for January - but they are attracting interest from elsewhere. I will also try and give some notes on others who have been to the fore of speculation on the site.

Derby's Hughes is attracting interest from several clubs including Liverpool, Everton and Fulham. Derby has priced him at a level which will make a transfer very expensive for the buying club but if Liverpool is really interested it may be the time to bite the bullet on this one and move in January - perhaps before interest comes from other major clubs including Manchester United.

Liverpool, Dortmund, Spurs and Fiorentina have shown an interest in Mohamed Salah, and Basel will look to sell in January if they drop out of the Champions League. I think he would be a great buy for Liverpool if they can swing it – but the player himself has come out and said Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea are the three clubs he would consider – a dumb thing to do.}

I would think that interest in a young player such as Salah would finish off interest from Liverpool in Yarmolenko but they were considering the player in the summer – albeit not at what would ever be an acceptable price. Dynamo Kyiv said one formal bid was actually made for Yarmolenko in the summer and that was a €27.6M bid from Zenit that was rejected. Other clubs apparently enquired and asked what sort of fee would be acceptable. The answer to all that asked was that they would consider offers above €40M. The figure that it has been suggested that Liverpool had in mind was €12M - I don't know if it was correct or not, but it was the same figure that was proposed for another player. They made no formal bid, and neither did Fiorentina who made a similar enquiry. AC Milan had, apparently, already been put off by the asking price.

Liverpool also enquired after a guideline price for Andre Ayew over the summer. He has had knee surgery – so no move in January.

After doing well at the Under 17 World Cup Valmir Berisha gave an interview to a Swedish Sports TV channel where he claimed that a whole host of clubs had offered him contracts - including Liverpool, Spurs, Ajax, Milan, Sunderland and Celtic. When this was queried with his club, Halmstad, they said that Sunderland, Celtic and Ajax had spoken with them and that they were aware that Krasnodar wanted to speak with them. Both Inter and Liverpool do see the player as one for the future but I would think that any transfer has some way to run given his age. A possible one for the future.

Whilst it is not easy to plan for buying in January, clubs are constantly looking at players throughout the year - take for example Liverpool's interest in Guidetti who will be allowed to leave Manchester City. There is interest remaining from both long term suitors Borussia Monchengladbach and Trabzonspor as well as Liverpool, Feyenoord and a number of other sides, but he may not be a player Liverpool wants to take in January. So if they are seriously interested, then January might be a suitable time to make an offer.

I think a move to England most unlikely, but Lazio's Hernanes continues to attract the attention of a number of sides including Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and PSG. Juventus were put off initially by his price. Previous approaches by Milan, Chelsea and Shakhtar resulted in the "not for sale" reply although I suspect Milan would be interested if the opportunity arises. I would not totally discount interest arising from Liverpool if they want to add experience, bite and skill to the midfield, but suspect Atletico Madrid would be the most attractive option for the player if he were to move from Italy.

In terms of players leaving, perhaps one or two will go on loan. In terms of sales, there will likely be a centre back or two looking to move on. There will be interest in Coutinho, certainly from Atletico, but I doubt Liverpool will want to sell. There is interest in Suarez – that has been done to death. However, if anyone were to leave in January I am sure that Liverpool has a few players they know enough about already that they will be able to quickly turn to: Castaignos, Guidetti and Mitroglou come to mind.

So the rumours about Yohan Cabaye, Koke, Arda Turan and Diego Capel being linked to us are nonsense?

Sorry Ed002, that post just seemed to be an update on what information you had. So I was just wondering because you hadn't mentioned them was their no update on these players or were they never targets to begin with?

{Ed002's Note - Maybe the Orange Sunshine was something to set aside?}
