Could Skrtel leave to go to Russia in this transfer window eds as Zenit have been linked with him?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance that Skrtel will be leaving in the summer. Last summer Csonto told Associated Press that because of changes at the club his client wanted to know what the future held and said that there were enquiries being made of Skrtel from Italy. I understand there has been some recent tentative interest from Fiorentina and two clubs in Russia - bids are expected to be made in the summer.}

Are Liverpool looking at Danilo Larangeira as his replacement? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

06 Feb 2013 18:33:51
Eds any chance that Reina goes to AM and Sergio Asenjo comes the other way? {Ed002's Note - It would still leave them one GK less as Courtois needs replacing.}

Is Courtois going back to Chelsea ed? To replace Cech? {Ed002's Note - Nothing is decided yet with Courtois although there has been an approach from Barcelona to take him. Chelsea don't want to sell.}

06 Feb 2013 18:17:06
If reina will go in the summer whrere will he go, just wondering, ( by the way I think he has been doing awesome saves recently)

thanks eds
ynwa {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid will be seeking a replacement for Courtois - and they seem to be a likely destination.}

06 Feb 2013 17:30:52
Hey eds, not a rumours, just thinking, any chance of Vidal? {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

06 Feb 2013 17:19:41
Eds,
1. Is it true we are interested in Ben Arfa? almost all reliable Journos reporting it.

2. Do you reckon Sakho can be an option for summer? {Ed002's Note - There may well be interest in Ben Arfa. I doubt Sakho will be moving to Liverpool.}

So Ed who could be an option for CB?
as Carra, Coates and Skrtel could all leave in summer we need atleast 2 CB's.
It would be great if we could nick 2 of Dede, Zouma, Howedes, Alderwield and Angelo Ogbonna.
Reckon they could be an option? {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath in respect of most of those players.}

You haven't got the money for Benny. He's on a long contract and he's twice the player AC was. Have you forgotten already that Newcastle play (very) hardball? If you genuinely go after him, it'll cost you all of your transfer budget or a very attractive swap deal. You won't do either, so forget it. Go and pester Swansea again.

Hi Ed thanks for doing a great job. Just two questions.
1. any update on Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling injuries

2. DO you see Oussama Assaidi getting some game time now he's back and no longer injury.

Thanks Braveson {Ed001's Note - Sturridge and Sterling are expected to be fit for the weekend. Assaidi will likely get a chance, but he has to make the most of it as he has Coutinho fighting for a place too.}

I'm pleased in one sense that Ince wasn't signed for the sake of Assaidi getting a fair chance some time (hopefully). Looks decent to me

07 Feb 2013 08:25:36
Where do you see Borini stands right now? Not good enough for the first team yet?

06 Feb 2013 17:22:13
Sunderland keeper simon mignolet will be arriving at anfield in the summer. It is rumoured our scouting network have been watching him since the start of the season and have been consistantly impressed. 7thvegardheggem

He is a very good and realistic option.

If this is true someone has been reading my posts! ;-)
Absolute quality keeper and would be willing to move for around 8 mill I estimate.

For what it's worth I also think we should sell skyrtl along with reina. Not sure yet who should replace him

Liverpool enquire about Bayer Leverkusen CB Michal Kadlec

Isnt he a left back?

Jonesred

I believe he can play CB and LB so this could be the sort of player we look at.
Not sure if he's good enough any idea Eds?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - not seen much of him to be honest.}

First off, I'd like to thank you guys for the amazing website, and all the insight you give us. I was wondering about the goalkeeper situation. Is rodgers looking to sell reina? If so who do you think would be the best replacement and how much of a possibility does it have? personally i'd love ter stegen or begovic!

Thanks!
ESN_Red {Ed002's Note - I expect Pepe to move in the summer but have no feeling for a replacement just yet. Several goalkeepers will be moving on this summer with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid and BArcelona in the market.}

Gulasci deserves a chance.

Hi eds, I have just read in an interview with sakho that he is interested in a move to the premier league in order to play reqularly enough to secure international football. i'm not saying that there was any interest in january or that we made an approach, but would you think that now he has stated his desire to move and given our obvious problems in defence, that we would move for the player in the summer?

Regards aiden {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is growing interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling but I think there is a good chance of a summer move.}

Hey ed I watch a fair bit of Bundesliga and see you mentioned Kevin Trapp as a possible replacement for Reina and from the games i've seen him in it is a great shout. He is a very assured young GK who is one of the reasons Eintracht Frankfurt have been the surprise package of the league.

I also have a couple of questions for Ed002 I noticed you mentioned Fabian Giefer as a keeper for the future but I haven't seen that much of Dsseldorf this season so was wondering if you could tell me a little about him? {Ed002's Note - I am not really one to rate players per se. What I can say is that the person who mentioned him to me is very well respected in footballing circles and says he is certainly one for the future.}

Guardian reporting LFC interested in Ben Arfa in a possible exchange deal involving Carrol. In my opinion, Ben Arfa is an explosive player that offers everything Downing does not.

I do feel for Carrol who moved to Liverpool against his own will and had no say in his fee. But he has no future at the club, we do not have a team or system that accomodates his strengths.

I'd be happy with £5m + Ben Arfa

Thanks, Dave

I'd be happy having 17mil for Andy and buying Ben Arfa for 7 mil if we need him. let's give Coutinho a chance to see how we start playing when everyone clicks.

06 Feb 2013 14:23:42
it would be the other way. caroll + 5mill

7 million wouldn't buy Ben arfas boot laces, get real

06 Feb 2013 16:20:20
err more like 10 mil and Carroll - at least 10 mil

َAn I have said all along. we're not going to have a plan B!1
All tikky takky is very nice, but sometimes, sometimes we need a powerhouse upfront. Doesn't carroll offer more of a threat than would Borini?.
Iranred in London

I totally agree.
If Barcelona were in the Premier League they would not win it.
And we're nowhere near as good as them.
I personally like Carroll. I think he's been treated really poorly.
He didn't like Downing, Henderson, Enrique and they're all regulars now.
Sign of a good manager is getting the best out of payers.
Carroll is young and definitely talented.
He should give him a chance {Ed001's Note - Carroll was turfed out for turning up to training drunk, he had his chance and he blew it. Leave him with his fat drunken mate Nolan to waste his career.}

Personally, I believe a player who is strong in the air yet really fast and agile and has great link up play. The best player within out budget with those attributed in my opinion is Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as he is well over 6 foot 2 inches and yet he is really quick on the ground. I watch the Ligue 1 really well and he is quite amazing. Another option would be to cash in on Andy Carroll for 17m and use it to buy Lewandowski by topping up another 5M. He would be quite a guy as he has good awareness and height is right about for our style of play.

06 Feb 2013 18:25:07
You will never get ben arfa for 10m plus andy carroll. I doubt newcastle want andy carroll. Newcastle will only sell him in a deal that values aronud 30m. 20m + carroll is considerable.

Cash in for £17m, who do think is going to pay that now, never mind what you paid us for him.

We sign 4 or 5 top players for that much from France. After his phenomenal goal scoring and number of games played at West Ham, they won't be paying up either.

Should of swallowed your pride and sold him back to us when you had a chance.

Not challenging you ed, just curious but is that the main reason he was kicked out or more of the final straw. I had never heard that he showed up drunk to training.
Andrew {Ed001's Note - final straw I suppose, the fact that he goes out and hammered every single night is not a good thing for a professional athlete. Especially as it has caused his injuries.}

£5m + Ben Arfa? Aren't asking for much.

Thanks for the response ed. You are right, you can't drink that heavily and especially if you get injured. I guess he doesn't have the desire to become better, now he is pro. It's a shame most of us would give up beer for life to play for LFC.
Andrew

COutinho and SHelvey play in AM position and Suarez is playing behind Sturridge in what looks like more of an CAM position. I do not see space for another CAM in my opinion for Ben Arfa - although all these players can also play out wide.

I hope Coutinho gets to play in his preferred position.

Lol you donkeys who go on about us needing a physical option wind me up. You're saying, for the sake of a few games against more physical opposition i. e. West ham, Stoke, etc that we should retain Carroll despite him showing no footballing or attitude improvement? LOL absolutely ridiculous. I'm happy Rodgers isn't resorting to the physical option at all - if we sign the right players then we will have no problems beating the more physical teams, we don't need giants marauding around everywhere if we have solid technique and pace. Barcelona wouldn't win the Premiership if they played in it!? LOL with the defending this season by even the top teams? Get a grip lad

I like the thought of Ben arfa in a swap deal plus cash for Carroll, but as you said downing has improved in recent performances. I for one am in favour of giving players time to settle. I judged Lucas too early and felt he had no future at the club and look what e doing now i'd to eat my words. In recent time I said I wouldn't judge Henderson no matter how frustrating he was and look at him now. I think he has been magnificent in recent games and shows if you put the work in you benefit the rewards. I am very confident for next season. Not saying well win the league but we won’t be 20 points off. as we seen against arsenal and city we have the quality against any opponent its just consistency and this will come in the summer from further getting rid of the low key performers. I believe one the names Rodgers wrote down in being Liverpool is Reina. My god i'm so disappointed in him. Really need to invest in a German GK they class. Or else Krul. I really do think Rodgers will make us a force again back like the Shankley era. Future is bright. YNWA

BR didn't write any names down in the envelopes, it was all mind games. I agree with the rest though!

Keith

What is wrong with you Liverpool fans? Newcastle would want Carroll plus cash for Ben arfa not the other way round

Agree with Keith, I think the envelope thing was a ruse.

G'day eds. Just a quick one, have Liverpool been looking at Mauro Icard? A friend told English clubs have been watching him. Good young player.

Thanks as always guys.
Jackson8787 {Ed002's Note - Icardi has been subject to interest from Monaco, Chelsea, Napoli and Fluminense.}

Hi Eds,

I imagine due to the financial problems faced in Spanish football, and with other English teams looking enviously at the €2m Swansea paid for Michu, I can see an influx of Spanish players coming to the Premier league next season. with that in mind and the fact we will be looking for a new CB next season, has there been any interest from Liverpool in any of the following players? Mateo Musacchio, Federico Fazio or Mikael San Jose?

San Jose has come on leaps and bounds since he returned to Bilbao and he really does look the part. still relatively young and a is a good passer of the ball. Only problem I can see is that would he be willing to leave his boyhood club again for a club he has already struggled at? plus Bilbao are one of the few clubs who actually are not in the Sh**e financially so it could take a large amount to get him.

I cannot believe no one snapped up Musacchio from Villerreal last summer after they were relegated. I know he didn't have the best season but he was only 20/21 and can only be stronger for the experience. very good on the ball and only 22 would fit the supposed transfer policy we have recently adopted. I know he is not playing against the highest level this season in Spain's 2nd tier and I personally do not watch any lower league Spanish football, but I have heard he is doing really well this season and has got his confidence back. He also has 2 caps for Argentina but could be available for as little as €6m. only downsides are his patchy injury records and would he be physical enough for the EPL? a very interesting prospect and one I would like to see in England.

Fazio, like Musacchio is also an Argentinian International with 2 caps. He can play holding midfield as well, which would not only offer great cover in midfield, but also perhaps shows his ball playing ability. Still only 25 he is yet to hit his peak. Not sure the price he would command but I am sure it would not be too much higher than €10m based on other prices teams have been reportedly quoted for other Saville Players. Again I'm not sure he would have the physicality to cut it in the prem but you never know really until they get here and play!

Sorry for the long post Ed. Would love to hear your views on these players or any other players from Spain you think may be of interest to Liverpool or other EPL clubs?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Spartak Moscow, Zenit and Hoffenhiem have spoken with Sevilla about Fazio but suggestions that Hamburg has shown an interest are wide of the mark. A move to England for San Jose or Musacchio looks unlikely right now.}

Zenit had a fee for Fazio accepted and I think it was under 7 million euros so he would be relatively cheap for a very good player. His transfer to Russia broke down due to personal demands I think?

Hi eds, I want to know if there is any interest in Alvaro Dominguez of Borussia Monchengladbach formerly of Athletico Madrid.

He is one of the top young defenders and since we are in need of some CBs, IS there a chance we might look at him.
I don't know of any interest.}

Ed02, any news on Amborietta? He's out of contract in the summer (I think) and you mentioned he may have been number 1 target if Agger had left in the summer. I know he's similar to Agger, in some ways but feel we could see a major overhaul of our defence, come the summer.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - He is not out of contract for another year but Athletic Bilbao's Amorebieta is attracting the interest of Liverpool, Zenit, Everton, Norwich and Roma. He might continue to attract the attention of both Arsenal and AC Milan who watched the player last year. However, unless one of the first choice centre backs were to leave Liverpool, it strikes me that a bid in would be unlikely.}

06 Feb 2013 11:40:20
I heard today that Liverpool are scouting Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid. Fernando Amoribeta also being looked at and available on a free in the next window.

Isnt amoribieta crap? he could be a bit more better.
how low have I sunk

06 Feb 2013 09:43:23
Ed, do you know of any interest in Howedes, I believe he's 24 and will only have a year on his contract. Watched him a lot last year whilst I had free ESPN but not as much outside the XL this year. I would argue that he is much better than Skrtle, much better concentration, on the ball and physically. As in he isn't really slow like our current partnership.

Any interest from any clubs or hopefully us?

Ben Rose {Ed001's Note - lots of interest, just about anyone would take him, if they could afford him. Personally I would see Bayern as the team most likely to get him, if he moves in the summer (which is very possible).}

Downing simply isn't good enough eh? As soon as the lad starts looking like the footballer he once was you spout that rubbish. Look at Downing's career stats and ben Arfa's and then see who isn't good enough. not to mention Ben Arfa's notorious temprament. At least If Downing isn't have a great game he still puts a shift in, forget about that if Ben Arfa comes.

Perhaps you'd feel differently disposed to Stewie if his name was salavtore douninho

person!

Does any one know the detail of Tom Ince's contract with Blackpool concerning the 1 year option?

Is dependant on both sides agreeing or promotion etc?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - no, it is a club option, if they want to extend it, they do so.}

05 Feb 2013 23:32:36
Hi Eds

Any idea of whether Coutinho will be fit enough to make the squad for West Brom?

Jan {Ed001's Note - he is supposed to be fit enough, just in need of match fitness.}

Looks like he will probably be given a while to settle and get to know his new team mates before playing. A bench appearance vs Swansea a week Saturday seems more likely

05 Feb 2013 23:35:19
Hi ed001, long time fan of the site but 1st time poster, who do you think is the best German goalkeeper we have been rumoured to? Do you expect pepe to leave? Thanks for all the hard work all you guys put in, such an addictive site. Boomer81 {Ed001's Note - no idea, I have said I haven't had a chance to take a look at them much, sorry. I do think Reina will leave this summer, this is his chance to get the Spain job, he needs to be in Spain to do that really.}

05 Feb 2013 16:51:16
eds, is it true that Liverpool are interested in balasz dzsudzsak last month? {Ed001's Note - I can find no legitimate interest, quite the opposite. Seems it was just paper talk.}

Guardian reporting Rodgers considering some kind of swap deal with Newcastle in Summer. They are looking to resign Carroll with us getting Hatem Ben Arfa. Think this would be brilliant personally. Downing, despite improvements, simply isn't good enough and this lad is prem proven and has bags of class.

Get cabye while we are there

:D

Ben Arfa's been at newcastle for 2 1/2 seasons and played 43 games him and cabaye are good players but play 1 in 3 games due to injury

Carroll and 10 mil for Ben Arfa seems fair.

Lets be honest, Carroll is worth 5 to 9 mil tops, HBA is worth up to and exceeding 20 mil.

I would 10 times before buying anyone from Newcastle after the Carroll rubbish.

Why not put Krul in the deal if Pepe is leaving

HBA will be going to PSG - stick on certainty

Swap deals are very rare in English football nowadays. Can't see this one happening at all, if I'm honest.

Ben Arfa would be a quality player to sign. Not sure about Krul though, very slow off his line and whilst he is a good shot stopper I don't think he is anything special, would prefer us to cast out net wider than the Premier league as well, prices in England are nothing short of extortion.

SMc

Downing is good enough

05 Feb 2013 23:22:21
Do you think James Rodriguez would be a player that Liverpool would invest in, during the summer window or do you think a CAM and another Ince bid would be more likely? I believe Liverpool will be spending some cash this summer, and wisely. Big moves ahead. JM. And thank you

05 Feb 2013 22:52:23
What is the availability status of Abel Hernandez?
Could he be one of the summer signings?

It would take a big bid to be honest. Ed002 says they've a lot of money in the bank so are in no need to sell. Or words to that effect.
