Hi Eds, great site you've put, been reading the posts for a couple of years now, but this is my first post ever, appologies if this matter has been dealt with earlier on - Younis Belhanda's contract runs out in 2014 at Montpellier, the type of Attachking Midfielder Liverpool could do with, how come we haven't made an approach yet? Or are we going to look into it over the summer? Cheers {Ed002's Note - He will move to Fenerbahce unless a late bid from Inter arrives.}

What happened to all the hype from the clubs around Europe? I thought he was being touted as one of the next big things and everyone was after him, what has happened to this situation. Or was simply wrong.

Ferbanche have rubbished the rumours wouyd be great 4 liverpool {Ed002's Note - All they have said is thet they are talking and yet to agree terms. The transfer fee has been agreed - the relocation package not.}

Liverpool met with ince agents again today

LFC93

Why unbeleivable....is there any reason!!

07 Jan 2013 09:41:00
Just like Gameiro has agreed terms like you posted the other day? Great, that's nailed on then...

Eds what is the latest with loic remy and bafetimbi gomis?
Please

Kyler {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, QPR and Lille have shown varying degrees of interest in Loic Remy but there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Remy from Liverpool. There was discussion with Chelsea about Remy during the negotiations over Azpilicueta but it came to nothing. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to England but his recent form has been poor and Marseille know it will be difficult to get a good price for the player. Newcastle will very likely complete the transfer of Remy in January, although there is a slim chance that they might face opposition from Everton who made a recent approach to Marseille about his availability on loan and QPR who are looking for a deal invloving a player moving in the opposite direction. As far as Marseille are concerned, they have started looking for a replacement but will hold out as long as they can to get the best price they can.

Bafetimbi Gomis scored three goals in a game a few weeks ago when we understand Liverpool had scouts at the game - but it was supposition that they were there to see any particular player. Chelsea had someone attend a game before Christmas and again in a cup match which was also attended by a Newcastle representative. I don't know if any bids have been made but Lyon are seeking to raise some funds.}

Liverpool will look to gomis if the ince deal falls through, so watch these next few days ahead.

No more money to spend mate

Hi Eds

I too believe it will be just Ince and a loan signing now. You have confirmed we have enquired about Jeffren, do you know who else we are interested in or enquired about in terms of the loan signing. {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of others off the top of my head but suspect there may have been such an approach for Villa which would have been dismissed, but I have no confirmation of that.}

Was this dismissed by Villa or Barca and do you feel we may go back again? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal are certainly interested in David Villa but I am not aware of any agreement at this time and Liverpool may well have made an approach about a loan. Given Villa has never wanted to play outside of Spain, is 30+ and no doubt be expensive in terms of insurance and wages, I am not so sure it would be a great move by any EPL club. Whilst he and Sanchez will be sacrificed, I suspect the summer is the more likely time for a move.}

07 Jan 2013 10:30:15
Did you hear who approached Villa ed? {Ed002's Note - I think nthe answer makes it pretty clear.}

06 Jan 2013 19:03:48
Is moussa sissoko available on a free? {Ed002's Note - Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has previously attracted interest from Milan, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Damien Comolli went as far as letting Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool saw Sissoko as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard - but for some reason the club failed to make the final push to buy the player. Sissoko remains available (as he has done for two years) and Juventus, Newcastle and Spurs have enquired - with a tentative agreement being reached with Newcastle and Juventus over the price. Juve probably have the edge right now but would much prefer a pre-contract for a summer move whilst Toulouse look to renew his contract.}

Got to love the copy and paste answers {Ed002's Note - Can you please point me at any place this has been copied and pasted from?}

06 Jan 2013 18:52:42
Not a rumour just an idea but i think scott sinclair would be a great signing for us. He hasnt been playing at city and might jump at the chance to play with br again. Have a feeling that cavani might go to man city with balotelli to milan which would put sinclair further down pecking order. {Ed002's Note - Not in January though.}

How do you work that out, he's behind balotteli, if he leaves, cavani comes in, he's still in the same position. How do you work out he will be moving down the pecking order?

Just heard from a good friend that leon britton to anfield.

Edinburgh scouser

Please atleast google the player you make up rumours about.

I'll give you a tip- Over 28, very unlikely.

Actually over 30 and that makes it even less likely we'd sign him.

The Plank

A good friend, a good old friend eh ...

Britton plays at anfield under the guise of joe Allen

Leon, get training more and get of that bloody Internet!

06 Jan 2013 16:56:35
Any chances of Luis Suarez leaving in January or Summer?
Thanks Eds {Ed002's Note - Try the search function - it is not worth opening up this subject for me right now.}

Absolutely no chance!

06 Jan 2013 21:39:26
Of course there is a chance of him leaving in the summer, there will certainly be a lot of interest in him if his form continues, depends on whether he is still happy here i guess. Common sense suggests he won't move in Jan...I hope he stays

06 Jan 2013 16:28:09
Hi eds, do you stand by the one on loan being Jeffren, or do you think it could be someone else like Gameiro? {Ed002's Note - I said that I knew of an approach from Liverpool about Jeffren. If Rodgers is looking for someone like Gameiro he should have no problem finding someone short with brown hair and hazel eyes.}

06 Jan 2013 17:47:29
Hold on a second here.......... are you suggesting we are going to sign Messi?? You are a subtle man Mr Ed, I like your style ;)

Very funny ed number to that is the reply of the month

06 Jan 2013 14:54:34
eds we all know the players rumoured to be signing for liverpool, but can tell me who you think our next signing will be, or do you think thats us finished till the summer
IRISH RED {Ed002's Note - I will stand by Sturridge, Ince and one on loan.}

Very brave ed considering rodgers said maybe one more in on loan

tom1975 {Ed002's Note - Useless aren't I?}

06 Jan 2013 14:47:46
Liverpool could be set to sign another striker Wigan's Franco Di Santo. Rodgers knows Di Santo from their days together as young player and coach at Chelsea. With Andy Carroll out on loan and likely to leave in a permanent deal, Liverpool still see it as an area they want to strengthen. Wigan will try to keep Di Santo but may be in fighting losing battle, so Wigan are plotting a £4million bid for Leeds striker Luciano Becchio.

Kevin Gameiro to Liverpool who hope to seal loan deal for Paris St-Germain but move for Thomas Ince stalls.

Only one of these strikers will happen...

Liverpool are also keen to loan out Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates. Napoli, Juventus, Lazio and Santos are interested....

Mozza - YNWA

Bit late lol!

I've only just found out about these rumours sorry.

Don't believe everything you read in the media. Rodgers has already killed the Di Santo one.

Di santo? He is sh!t

06 Jan 2013 13:40:24
Hi ED, could you explain the details of the Nicolas Isimat Mirin deal?

Kop 69 {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any deal for Mirin at all, sorry.}

I can explain the deal.................... he isn't coming

06 Jan 2013 13:39:57
do you think we should offer 10m for butland because that is a good price for a goalkepper like him.

Butland is a promising young goal keeper and the emphasis is on young and promising.Watching him play for his present club tells me he is nowhere yet near the level needed to play in the EPL.The ideal solution would be to sign him and loan him back to his own club to continue his learning curve.£10 million now however is a bit too high for him.

The Plank

Not when the chairman wants 5-6m !

Wouldnt pay 4m for him, would go for the young german kid myself

Id say we have a better back up keeper in Jones!

In the summer not right now.

For 10m Butland would be first choice not back up!

Brendan Rodgers needing advice eh ?

06 Jan 2013 13:39:15
Ed, I read that it says on the Times that we have interest in Kevin Strootman.
U know anything about it. {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers please.}

06 Jan 2013 13:28:33
Hi eds wonder if u could help me out with Andy carrols loan situation. If west ham stay up which it looks like they will, does that mean they have to purchase him in the summer or is it optional? It's just I remember reading somewhere that there was a fee of around £17 mil they would have to pay us.

Cheers

Anthony {Ed002's Note - Carroll is on some sort of "loan-to-buy" deal but I am not aware of the details of the contract. I suspect that the rumoured "relegation" clause does exist and I could postulate that there are clauses about behaviour and injury. Other than that it would be impossible to say without further information.}

West ham will stay up and buy Carroll 15m

Allardyce said when they signed him that the clause you stated doesn't exist, it did exist in initial negotiations but he said it was removed.

Ben

06 Jan 2013 13:22:20
I've heard rumours of us signing jelle vossen from genk, personally i think if this is true he would be a great signing for us, im sure he would be avaliable at reasonable price, he is great in the air and with his feet, and can score from anywhere, im hoping these rumours are true as i feel he would be a great signing at a good price, what do you think eds? {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers please.}

I also believe he would be a great signing for us, he's a proven goalscorer, still young and in my opinion much better than sturridge and we could probably sign him for less than what we paid for sturridge

06 Jan 2013 13:12:07
ed do you know if its true that Fenerbache have agreed an 11 million euro deal for younes Belhanda or if we have any intrest in the player? and do you if LFC still have an intrest in Strootman as the times are reporting? Cheers ed JF LFC {Ed002's Note - Fenerbahce have been trying to agree a price with Montpelier for Belhanda and it looks likely a deal could go through tomorrow, but I will caveat that with a slim chance of a late counter-offer from Inter Milan, who have baulked at the price being asked for their first choice midfielder and have also being in discussions over the player. I don't know what The Times has said but Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan perhaps in January, if not in the summer.}

Ed 002 enjoying the word 'caveat' today! I would however caveat Ed002 that the use of the word caveat may have you sounding a little like a lawyer? {Ed002's Note - I thought a caveat was like a neck tie?}

No surely that's a croissant?

Let's have Kuyt back from fetnebache

06 Jan 2013 13:02:59
Hi edds02

Just a rumor I heard saying that there was a possibility of mario manzudic coming to the Liverpool Can you clarify this.

Cheers razza {Ed002's Note - I can clarify it exactly for you. Mario Mandzukic will not be moving to Liverpool.}

06 Jan 2013 12:57:32
Ed I thought a PL team was only allowed to have two players on loan at any one time but WHU have Carrol and have just signed Chamak from Arsenal. Now they are reportedly getting this Wellington kid in on loan as well. How is this possible? Scousekew {Ed002's Note - The rules are different if the deal is a "loan-to-buy" deal (and this does not include "loan with an option to buy") as those players are excluded. Carroll is on some sort of "loan-to-buy" deal but I am not aware of the details of the contract. Perhaps others are as well.}

Rules state only two players allowed to sign from england but there is no number for abroad loans for example watford have 14 loaned players because mainly they are from italy {Ed002's Note - You have clearly misunderstood the rules and the two exclusions. You are aware that Watford are not in the EPL?}

Well we won't have any loans with Sahin leaving!

06 Jan 2013 12:51:18
Liverpool very very close on ince now.Liverpool upped their bid to 5 million.

source
Goal .com

"source: ".

You may as well believe we're getting Ince and Oyston is giving us £5M in addition, as believe anything on .

Even less believable than a Tory Prime Minister saying he believes in social mobility or vocational training.

What ever pal.just stating what i seen on the website, me personally coud not give two hoots if ince comes or not, the squad we have got now is great just need a winger of some sort,

We got rid of Ince because he wasn't good enough. Still not good enough if Liverpool are serious about building a squad to challenge for top honours.

What a waste of money!!!

I would be interested to hear the thoughts of people who regularly watch Blackpool or the football league as to how decent Ince is. I have the sneaking suspicion that those who say he is a waste of money have never seen the boy play. Probably in the same camp of those who said sturridge was a waste. Already his turn of pace, positive positional sense and on target shooting improves the team. And he isn't even match fit.

Erleichda!

As far as I remember we 'didn't get rid of Ince' he refused to sign a contract so he could get first team football to further his career. Seems to have been a good and brave decision doesn't it? Fair play to the guy if you ask me, showed balls - just what we need.

Po

Hey Eds,

Reported in a newspaper today that we're in for Kevin Strootman (unlikely, in my eyes)

Just wondering if you'd know anything more?

Cheers.. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan perhaps in January, if not in the summer.}

Hello Eds,
Ed002 I remember you mentioned we had scouted a number of south american talents such as bernard (atletico mineiro). Do you reckon a move for him in the near future is possible ?
really would love a couple of Brazillians (south americans) to help add spark to the team. {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and Qatar in the summer but there was a lingering thought that he may move on this January. Inter and Liverpool both had Bernard watched last summer with Inter going as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on his progress as have Manchester City. As you say, he was one of a number of South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012 - but I am not expecting a bid from Liverpool.}

Ed any idea why the love affair of our club with British players ?
I mean its good to have a strong british core but the extra flair and creativity that a team requires is best provided by spainish or south american talent and I seriously doubt we are even considering bidding for someone like that. {Ed002's Note - Like all other clubs there is a need to have a certain number of homegrown players and more often than not these will be English. As for the core of the team, Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Suarez et al are regular starters and not British.}

06 Jan 2013 11:58:17
Boot room blarney -is it true we are looking at Vargas and also have a strong interest in Di Santo from Wigan. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

06 Jan 2013 12:38:45
Liverpool f.c have enquired about the availability of Kevin prince Boateng as Liverpool look for a player who has that clinical eye in the last third as a spearhead for the midfield!

06 Jan 2013 12:29:36
Non Lfc related but I've just been told that West Ham are in talks with Chelsea about signing Frank Lampard. Apparently Frank is very keen.

06 Jan 2013 18:17:04
I know there is the "never say never" factor in football but Lamp's has been pretty damming in his view of WHU since he left - if he ended up back there I'd be shocked.

Agree with poster above, talk about burning bridges

06 Jan 2013 11:59:47
what's the latest on getting jack butland?because we need him instead of jones, doni and possibly renia
because butland is a quility player and its shown by
him being picked for the gb olympic football team
and i've heard the euro's aswell. {Ed002's Note - Whilst Liverpool has spoken with Butland's agent there has been no offer from the club to Birmingham City. Additionally, I would consider Butland a high-risk move if Liverpool were to look to him as a first choice goalkeeper at this time. However, Birmingham will have to generate some cash this month to keep the club going and selling Butland, their most saleable player, would provide that money. Birmingham have already rejected a £6 million offer from Southampton. Whilst Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have all scouted Butland this season, Everton (if they can find the cash) and Fulham are best placed to strike a deal.}

Well said ed

Jones has recently signed a new contract. He is happy being back up for Reina and he is solid too.
We do not need anymore backup for Reina as we also have Galucsi.
The only way we will buy a new keeper is if Reina moves on to another club.
In that case we would probably look at a more experienced replacement.
We barely have the funds to improve our strike force, never mind waste funds on a player who will hardly get a shot at the first team!

Red Lee

06 Jan 2013 19:07:58
jones was great today, good shot stopping when needed (some of the best were from players offside but he still saved) and good command of the area - towards the end I was wishing he'd try to catch one or two but his performance was great - unlucky with the goal.

Question for Ed 002:

How much financially healthy Juventus is? Juve were a club in turmoil being mired with bribery allegations, points deductions, missed out on CL spot etc...But now they are with a shout for every so called world class players!..Even offering an acceptable wage package to all these players to lure them?

Same question applies to club like Tottenham: How are they able to get decent players over Liverpool?..They dont have history or legacy..dont have global fan base..not regulars in Champ League...Surely only being London based club isnt the greatest attraction!

Do they offer better wages etc?

Thanks in advance!...Cheers for the site!

Indian with Red Heart {Ed002's Note - Juventus are in good shape financially and obviously have had recent success in the league and are doing very well in the Champions League. They are actively working on some team rebuilding with two primary strikers/forwards being sought for January and the summer. They are close to one target in Llorente and have a list of three to fill the other role. They are also looking to replace other players throughout the squad. It is also worth remembering that Italian clubs can (and regularly do) exploit their ability to enter in to part-ownership agreements with third parties (selling clubs, other league clubs, agents etc.).

As for Spurs they have managed their spending very well in recent times but I really don't see that they have are any stronger a draw for players than Liverpool. Whilst folks are saying that "Holtby picked Spurs over Liverpool" that simply is not true. There was no approach to Holtby from Liverpool and nothing on the table for him to consider. Liverpool's spending on transfers has been much, much higher than Spurs in recent years and wages across the first team squad higher than Spurs. I will caveat the wages point to say I expect Liverpool's spending on wages to perhaps drop below Spurs when the next set of figures are available. Clearly Aquilani, Degen, El Zhar, Poulsen etc. are off the books. As for history and legacy, it matters not to players - although they might blurt it out at the first press conference.}

06 Jan 2013 12:02:14
When did Spurs never have a history or legacy?
And do you think players care about history, of course they don't. That's why players join Man City and Chelsea for money and don't join us because are chances to qualify for Euorpe are less, even bough we may have the greater 'history'

Spurs have a very rich history I suggest you look properly? maybe living in india you have limited research? along with united, arsenal and everton they have along with us a historical history, spurs were the first club to do most things! they also have 2 multi billionaire backers who invest into their club! I really don't like fans that belittle other clubs, love the banter but belittling other great clubs is a no no, go to their sites, they wind us up with banter but don't s.lag off our history!!

Ed002 is it true that spurs may sign damiao for 15m? {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs particularly Spurs and to a lesser extent Arsenal, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter, Milan and Juventus. Lyon and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. The summer saw rejected bids from Spurs and PSG. Spurs, Inter, Roma or Juventus may force a move - and these remain the most likely destinations right now. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro which they obviously won't get anywhere near - and they don't want to sell. The player says wants to move to Chelsea but their interest would only be there if other targets were not achievable, but they have taken a look at him.}

Your forgetting spuds sold modric and VDV to fund a few of their signings aswell

I've been told this morning that if Liverpool sell a player this month (possibly Downing?) then BR will go for Gomis.
Could there be anything in this Ed?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - An interesting one Chris and one I could perhaps better answer tomorrow morning. Bafetimbi Gomis scored three goals in a game a few weeks ago when I understand Liverpool did have representation at the game - but it was no more than supposition that they were there to see any particular player. Chelsea had someone attend a game before Christmas to look specifically at Gomis. At least two EPL clubs to have enquired as to whether Gomis will be playing in today's cup match or not. Regardless of that, I can say that a a representative of one club did travel from A Caruna to Strasbourg via a tortuous route to attend today's game in Epinol. I don't know if any bids have been made but Lyon are seeking to raise some funds.}

Thanks Ed I look forward to tomorrow and any possible news

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - It will depend on travel Chris. I am trying to get a flight out of here tomorrow although it could slip to Tuesday. If there is anything I will let you know though. Perhaps WonderDogSparky can keep you informed on Twitter.}

I don't do twitter Ed

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - That's a pity Chris - particularly as you at one time made an appearance in WonderDogSparky.}

Interesting conversation guys from people obviously know what they are talking about. Will be keeping an eye on this.

That's interesting to hear Ed. In what way did I make an appearance? Was I mentioned in passing or did I have a major role as some hero in a swashbuckling story?

Chris on Tamworth {Ed002's Note - You were making a noise in the local pub - the Lamb and Vulture. The extract is as follows:

So as not to be recognised, Sparky and Pepe put on their Beatle wigs and slip out the back door - to the chanting of "Do What Thou Wilt". {Editorial note - this is something JonJonJo was chanting - you would need read the rest of WonderDogSparky to see it in context}

"Ah Landlord, a bottle of Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale for me and, for you Pepe?" "I'll have a Creme de Menthe and Tomato Juice please".

Apologies Landlord, may I have another Creme de Menthe and Tomato Juice to replace the one Pepe dropped?"

"And perhaps a plastic beaker to put it in?"

As Pepe and Sparky sit in the Snug of the Lamb and Vulture, they hear strange hammering sounds. Bang, ouch, bugger, bang, ouch, bugger ...

"What on earth is that Landlord?" asks Sparky. "That'll be our humble chippy - Chris in Tamworth." He has the world's largest left thumb."

"So you are having some work done on the place?" enquires Pepe. "Nope, he just turns up now and again and hammers away for a while."

"Nobody really knows who he is? Rumour has it he is TalkSport's Paul Hawksbee. Others say he is Theo Walcott's agent." says the Landlord.

Over a quiet lunch on his own, Sparky contemplates why sandwiches taste better when they are cut diagonally.
}

Uncanny Ed, I hope it wasn't my one and only appearance ever

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I expect an appearance fairly soon - particularly with the Lamb and Vulture taking on a buxom new barmaid (Blair) with a mass of curly ginger hair & a white quiff.}

Looks like our last bit of business for this transfer period is going to be Ince.

I struggle to understand why we would want to spend any money on a kid that we let go for next to nothing and is available for nothing in 6 months time.

He will not impact where we finish this season, so lets wait and get him back in for nothing...

I hope there is a surprise in the offing and that we start thinking like a big club again and start competing for players that are in demand...

Whos in demand that would come to us with no cl footie.get real and stop moaning

Because he'll improve the squad

We wouldn't get him for nothing in summer, his fee would go to a tribunal. Also, he would be able to sign for anyone. So strike while the iron's hot?

SuperDuperSuarez

He is under 24 so wouldn't cost nothing. If BR sees something that KK didnt then i think we should support his choice.

It's all down to money, money money.

Becase all the players that are so called IN Demand want champs league football if possible - Welcome to the real world

Youth players are a tricky subject, if your academy sells 4/5 a year in the £100,000 to £250,000 bracket it pays for itself - and any players advancing to the first team squad are a bonus.

Once in a while a player is released that goes on to surpass the expectations placed on him - when this happens it would be stubborn to not sign them back just because we let them go for less.

Tom Ince is an interesting prospect - the way he is playing now suggests £5-6M may be a bargain. But he'd need to make an impact for that to be true.

For myself I think it would be a dodgy signing - we have lots of young players shouldering the burden up front, another makes it harder still to rotate quality with experience.

I'd like to think we can attract someone like Schnider to complement our squad - hell if it was a free wishlist I'd love what Arjen Robben could do for our side.

06 Jan 2013 09:39:33
It's currently being reported that
we are 2 million short of valuation of tom once
However if we are due a 35% sell on clause
Wouldn't we be paying in effect 4 million anyway?

Because we are the only ones interested, they are trying to inflate the official price so the net price they get from Liverpool is what they want. i.e. trying to tell Liverpool they want £8M so they receive £5M.

We obviously value him at 4 million and won't go any higher regardless of the buy back clause

I read we offered 5million and the sticking point is a 10% sell on clause which goes to Ince not Liverpool.
Not saying its true its just what I read.
Paul the red

Why are paying 4 mil? We can get him for free on Sumer

There is no buy back and no sell on clause. His contact with us expired.

Eds anyone showing interest in alen hililovic of Zagreb I think huge future talent so don't expect us to even be looking at him sadly. But has anyone made any enquiries? Dave {Ed002's Note - Dinamo Zagreb's Halilovic is attracting the attention of many of Europe's leading side including Real Madrid (who have had an offer turned down), Juventus, Ajax, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal. A move to England in the short term is unlikely due to his age but at some point Manchester City and Manchester United will look to strike a deal that will likely leave him in Croatia a while longer.}

Are the rumours true that Gameiro agreed terms with us last night, and it is up to PSG now whether we sign him or not? If this is true does it mean that the ince move has broken down?cheers {Ed002's Note - Search function please.}

Has Liverpool shown any interest in Spanish international Benat Etxebarria?

RedNepal {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid, CSKA, Chelsea, Fenerbahce, Arsenal and Wolfsburg have also shown interest in Benat. Txiki Begiristain has, as reported, an interest in taking him to Manchester City. It is beginning to look like the summer would be more likely.}

Hi eds. . You've said all along that we are interested in spurring ince and maybe one on loan. But BR has said on many occasions that the squad in very thin. My point is with Cole gone sahin reported to be going and as you've said one possibly 3 in it still leaves us with a thin squad. A few injuries and we are in big trouble . Do u still think there won't be a surprise or two in the window for lfc.
Marker {Ed002's Note - If players are leaving and there is a lack of cover then it is possible players will come in. But I would point out the youngsters - everyone seems to have forgotten them and if everyone who leaves gets replaced, expect the youngsters to start looking elsewhere. Equally, if Rodgers does not consider the likes of Robinson, Flanagan, Coady etc. good enough for the first team squad, they will eventually become restless.}

I have been saying since the new Americans came in that the future of Liverpool is the academy and inexpensive signings. This was stated by the owners in the very beginning. Under Brendan Rodgers it is coming to fruition and will prove to be the correct and (more importantly) the successful way to progress. Let's hope that the team take the F.A.Cup seriously this afternoon. I have also said in the past that this is the one trophy we should ALWAYS try to win. By the way does anyone know why the manager od Man City is such an person? well, he's a manc i'n i!
DM2013 {Ed002's Note - "Inexpensive signings"? Carroll, Suarez, Henderson, Allen, Downing, Sturridge?}

Ed002: I seriouslu doubt that the youngsters have been "forgotten", he brought Suso, Sterling, Wisdom through.

If Robinson, Coady are good enough they will get their chance. As for Flanagan i really doubt that he's more than med PL side at tops...

We haven't had a manager who's brought young players through in years and when one finally does it isnt enough.

I feel that with Kenny, it was more important they were scousers than actually being good enough.

That being said, I believe that Morgan, Coady and particularly Robinson will be good players in the future! But not right now...

Norwegian Blob {Ed002's Note - I am sorry to say that many of the posters are completely ignoring the youngsters and craving spending on players - it really doesn't matter who the players are of course.}

Yeh, yeh - Ed002 twisting things again! The owners allowed the expensive signings with the idea that we would have the basis to be able to blood the youngsters and less expensive signings in the FUTURE. I know that by the time I have written this it will be the future but please use your common sense and try and understand my point. The signing of Sturridge is the result of a mistake that the owners allowed in the summer but is relatively inexpensive in this day of inflated prices!
DM2013 {Ed002's Note - Sorry? What Have I "twisted" this time? And what have I "twisted" before? You are from a growing fan-base founded on some mix of hatred and ignorance. The start of the transfer window and one expensive transfer completed by Liverpool and many of the fans have turned on the owners yet again. Perhaps if they are reading this, the owners will be hoping for the team to lose today - then they can get some respite as you return to abusing the manager and the players.}

Any chance in Luke modric? Where's he going to end up? Gerard getting old....modric struggling at Madrid....he would fit into Rodgers style of play surely? Should give him a go {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath over Modric moving to Liverpool in January.}

EDS 002, just come out and say it ''not a hope in hell''

Modric joined Real for a fee in excess of £30 million pounds so I guess they sell him to us cheaply will they? Also if he's struggling and performing poorly at Madrid why should we break our neck [ and our bank ] to sign him?

Daily star reporting that the Tom Ince deal is very close as Blackpool are lowering there valuation from 8 to 5 mill.

Mighty reds

Wrong, it's reporting they want 6 million, i just checked.

YorkshireRED.

Hi fellow Reds, Thomas Ince has started for Blackpool in the FA cup. So i don think he wil move to Liverpool in january(means no talks r ongoing) but possible in the summer i believe. But expect one more player as Rodgers mentioned. I hope its Wilfried Bony r Kevin Grosskreutz.

Yes. Because the only reason Liverpool were interested in Ince was for FA cup glory.

You're talking nonsense.

We also play in the epl and europe

Nonsense. What if we get knocked out today, not that I think it will or indeed want that to happen, but it shows a lack of respect for Mansfield, which if repeated on the pitch could result in a bit of egg on faces...

All Blackpool have actually done by fielding him today is lower his value to any buyer still in the FA cup.

Silly post use ur head pal do u think we were signing ince just to play in the fa cup this yr?? wat about Europa league premier league and the fa cup next yr and the yr after. the powers that be in the club ar not that short sighted.

That just lowers his value which suits Liverpool to a tee. {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference to his value.}

I live in oslo in norway. and i know some friends of Omar Elabdellaoui, and thy are talking about intrest from liverpool. Eds have you heard anything about this? thanks alot for the help. great site. {Ed002's Note - He is on loan for the season and then will, I assume, return to Manchester.}

Have we got any chance of signing Isco? Fits perfectly in the transfer policy and the price seems to be £15m. Cracking player, we need to get somebody like him. {Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. Chelsea had someone watch Isco in a recent game against Granada and again very recently. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. Malaga wanted 21M euros and are now negotiating an increase in his release clause to 42M euros using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree. If they are forced to sell - and they don't want to, I would suspect Juventus and Real Madrid are best placed right now. A move in January is by no means certain as Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract which would also address the release clause and pay rise which are currently being discussed - but they do fear a move for the player this month.}

06 Jan 2013 00:24:18
Hey Eds, Happy New Year. Any truth to the Kalou rumours? {Ed002's Note - Seems to be speculation and no more. The time to have taken him would have been in the summer when he was out of contract.}

05 Jan 2013 23:20:35
hi ed's has there been any interest at all shown by Liverpool in young Spanish player Jose Campana ?
thank you
jayolfc {Ed002's Note - No.}

05 Jan 2013 23:07:58
Any interest in Mark Bossufa of Anzi, looks a talented players who is skillful and good with both feet. {Ed002's Note - There were rumours about interest in Boussoufa from Zenit and Olympiakos.}

06 Jan 2013 00:35:40
chelsea close to signing isco for 15 million!!

how many top youngsters do they need

isco adding to hazard mata oscar piazon lukaku de bruyne marin moses azpilicueta

scary proposition

rafa buying wisely it seems

tom1975 {Ed002's Note - It would be nothing to do with Benitez.}

More like how many midfielders do they need. Have to admit, it is starting to get a tad annoying watching them buy everyone on my FM team.

But surely the player himself realises that if he moves to Chelsea he wont get as much playing time as he would like or need, he only has to look at see the likes of Marin, a quality player brought in who spends most of his time on the bench and even Oscar is finding it hard to get in with the form of Moses, add to that the signing of Demba Ba, another attacking player, its difficult to see Isco getting a lot of playing time. I know its not probable but i think it would be in the best interests of the player to move to a club like Liverpool where he'll get regular game time and turn into a world class footballer. Just my opinion anyway.

The Spaniard

Got to admit though ed they have some scary talent in their ranks

tom1975 {Ed002's Note - There is a real effort being made to replace the players who have been around for many years with much younger players.}

That is no news..you would expect no less from a proven world class manager..he always bought wise..

As Ed002 said its nothing to do with Rafa !!

Ed are they really buying Isco?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. Chelsea had someone watch Isco in a recent game against Granada and again very recently. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. this is just like when abramovic first took over at chelsea, buying too many talented players that will have their development hindered by lack of starting opportunities. It might look good on paper, and indeed, a lot are very talented, but so were the likes of sinclair etc, already the development of players like paizon etc are being slightly stunted at the moment due to lack of actual playing time. imo.

06 Jan 2013 00:30:16
Kevin-Prince Boateng's agent has been approached by Ian Ayre in the last 24 hours, hoping to thrash out a loan to buy move. AC Milan want around £14-16mil for any permanent deal. Sahin could be on his way by the end of next week. Tom Ince deal in doubt also, Blackpool playing hardball again. Liverpool willing to wait until the summer to sign him.

Le Chiffre

We'd win the league!

05 Jan 2013 23:48:15
So supposedly Liverpool had agreed terms with K.Gameiro (don't know if I believe it myself tbh) and so therefore the ball was in PSG's court as to wether they wanted him around still... Ancelotti has come out and said that "he is a very important player for us"... Say goodbye to that one reds

ED is it true chelsea are signing Isco? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea had someone watch Isco in a recent game against Granada and again more recently.}

So the reports chelsea have agreed a fee for him are incorrect ed? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any agreement in respect of a fee at this time.}

A little off topic, same team though, but what teams are interested Ignacio Camacho?

I'm not asking for Liverpool, although I'd like for him to come here, but if Malaga are having a wholesale on their players right now, Camacho seems like one of the few players that would be high on most teams lists. {Ed002's Note - I think it very unlikely Ignacio Camacho will be moving in January.}

06 Jan 2013 09:39:16
Apparently they're signing him.

I was more wondering what teams, if any, have interest in Camacho, not if a move in January were likely. Sorry if that was unclear.

Just to be clear, I would just like to know what teams are showing any interest in Camacho.

Cheers and thanks in advance! {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

05 Jan 2013 23:22:47
first off, eds great site. Light years ahead of other sites. now my question is, Macca rumored that we were chasing after theo walcott. With the signing of sturridge do you still think walcott is still a possibility this january? or is a move to another club or a move to us in the summer more likely? {Ed002's Note - I really do not know of any interest from Liverpool in Walcott.}

06 Jan 2013 13:42:13
Macca stated in the summer that there was LFC interest in Walcott, but it was predicated on him being available.

As of this time Arsenal have not given anyone permission to talk to him which is required for an English team.

05 Jan 2013 23:01:52
hearing that we have approached genk about the avaliability of jelle vossen, any truth in this? {Ed002's Note - He could move next summer but Liverpool have not, to my knowledge, shown any interest in Vossen.}

I heard the same a few weeks ago, there is some substance to him being scouted by many clubs, including Liverpool, but there are no approaches from the epl.
He is expected to move but not until the summer.

He certainly knows how to finish a ball, and is still young
