Afternoon Eds. I have checked via the search function, but Alessio Cerci has not been mentioned since the middle of May and I was wondering whether, with regards to interest from clubs, anything has changed? Since Torino the purchased remainder of his contract earlier this year, are they still keen to hold on to him? Thanks in advance.

Being reported that Liverpool are close to signing Shaqiri, Brendan's moving swiftly

Believable45 Unbelievable39

If true and goes through I would be surprised at the speed we are moving

Agree2 Disagree0

If true then I would expect the Lallana interest to drop as I don't see us buying Shaqiri & Lallana.

Agree9 Disagree2

I suspect we are some way from Shaquiri. If we don't get him in a few days he will have flown with an increased post World Cup value.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think both Lallana and Shaqiri could happen

Agree1 Disagree0

Shaquiri rumours range from bid submitted to about to sign. Reckon it's likely first and as alternative to Lallana in hope that either Shaquiri deal can be pushed through or Lallana submits transfer request pre-World Cup.

Hi Eds, I was just wondering if their was any interest from anyone for Bruma of galatasaray as he is young and can play any of the forward positions and would fit our philosophy?
Also has the interest in Andre Ayew finished?

Believable0 Unbelievable16

{Ed002's Note - Bruma - no interest. l'OM have rejected an offer for Andre Ayew and the new manager wants to keep him. We will see after the world cup. His brother Jordan may well be coming to England on loan (not to Liverpool).}

06 Jun 2014 13:47:37
Eds, I have a question. I checked with the RTP, But this one is more or less changing every day,
Sanchez is in the market?
Juve are interested?
Do you expect him to move this summer? If So whos the front runner?

Believable6 Unbelievable19

{Ed002's Note - I answered this an hour ago - nothing has changed and this is a complete waste of my time. However, given that you won't be posting anymore today:

There has been some interest from Juventus and Arsenal. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on and would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. There have been discussions Juventus in respect of Sanchez and there is no secret that his agent has confirmed that they would be willing to meet the terms that the player desires. However, they are far from agreeing a figure with Barcelona for the sale - very far indeed. Barcelona will be willing to let Sanchez move on for a very significant fee or would be open to using him in a player exchange deal. Barcelona were looking to replace Fabregas with Vidal and were looking to that as an option whilst there is such a difference between what is being asked and what is being offered. However, with talks dragging on and Juventus wanting to keep Vidal their attention shifted from Vidal to Koke and then to Rakitic. Perhaps they would consider a deal including Sanchez, Song and Mascherano for Suarez - we will see.}

If Sanchez is so good why are Barca seemingly so agreeable to letting him leave.?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - because Messi hates him.}

06 Jun 2014 14:36:24
So, basically Sanchez and a bag of footballs for the world's 3rd best player?

Not even Barca would be rude enough to make that offer.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona would be willing to trade and the Liverpool fans seem to still crave the likes of Mascherano. A bid from Real Madrid will arrive soon and then that will shift the focus.}

Ed, do you expect a bid from Barca for Suarez or just Real?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - His representatives spoke to Barcelona as well, but right now they are putting their attentions elsewhere. Real are ready to bid anytime now.}

Ed I think you should consider taking a break for a week or two. Its going to be a long, long summer and possibly a painful one too.

Agree2 Disagree1

I and I hope many others do not want Mascherano anywhere near this club again! don't care how good he may be (which is not IMo anywhere near as good as some suggest

Agree5 Disagree1

06 Jun 2014 17:18:04
If and when the offer from Real arrives we should stand firm on an equally ridiculous asking price to that of Bale. We should not keep a disgruntled player who, quite frankly, does deserve what he might perceive as a dream move. But, he has a long-term contract and should only be allowed to leave, if Real meets our demands. Just as Lallana shouldn't be allowed to leave unless we meet Southampton's valuation.

Agree4 Disagree0

Is it me ..........dribble removed...............

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Another piece of brain dead rubbish scraped from the boot.}

06 Jun 2014 13:21:33
Do the Ed's still do player profiles? If not Ed's / Reds what are your thoughts on Juan Manuel Iturbe?

Not seen much apart from him myself; what I have seen he looks quite good but can't base that on 2 or 3 matches.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Verona bought him this summer for the purposes of profiteering and we cannot discuss a little side deal that has been agreed. This has driven Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina out of any chance of buying the player. Real Madrid and Chelsea have both said they are interested - and efforts have been made to try and get Manchester City, Barcelona and other clubs interested so they can sell to the highest bidder. Generally clubs are not interested in auctions.}

Reports we are in serious discussions with bayern over shaqiri

Believable59 Unbelievable11

{Ed002's Note - So no one is smiling?}

Lol. Ed your on a roll

Agree2 Disagree0

Very good! I'm smiling just now.
Obviously I'm not in any serious discussion.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 14:30:12
Let's hope both clubs and player will be all smiles after the completion of the serious discussion, because Shaqiri looks one helluva player who would give us more options out wide. I know we shouldn't discuss fees, but if there is the slightest truth to the reports claiming Bayern would settle for 15m I'm puzzled as to why there's seemingly not more interest in him (of course, there might be, but I haven't read much about interest in him other that Juve some while back). Ed002 - would you share with us your thoughts on why there doesn't seem to be much interest in him, if that is indeed the case?

Cheers

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - , Sevilla and Fiorentina have a declared interest in Shaqiri with Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries. Bayern are taking an interest in Pogba and are looking to include Shaqiri in a deal - but Shaqiri apparently does not want to go Italy and Pogba is settled, at least for a week or two. Any real interest from Juventus has gone.

He is seen as a decent player but nothing too special. I am surprised that interest in Konoplyanka is not there if Liverpool are going to push for Shaqiri.}

06 Jun 2014 15:54:11
Thanks, Ed. Yeah it really is strange that our Kono interest has seemingly vanished after we tried hard to sign him 4 months ago. Maybe BR feels his options are better in this window and just prefers other players not available in January over Kono. Since they're in the same price bracket I would prefer Kono's superior experience, but Shaqiri also offers appealing qualities.

Agree1 Disagree0

Could be down to our relarionship with the club. Did they not say that the deal fell through because our money did not arrive in their bank in time? I understand the Dnipro chairman is also a director of same bank so I suspect the delay may have been at their end.

Eds, it's been reported that Brendan Rodgers is said to be entering talks with the agent of Spartak Moscow striker Yura Movsisyan this weekend with the view of making a move for him on Monday (not a player I've come across).

Report suggest Rodgers has secretly been having the 26-year-old watched over the course of the season and has been impressed with his form after getting 20 goals in 35 matches for Spartak over the last 18 months.

Movsisyan has also been impressing on the international stage with Armenia, too, and it is there that Rodgers first noticed him while scouting Henrikh Mkhitaryan last summer.

However, Rodgers is not the only one showing an interest in landing his services as a number of fellow Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are keen, too.

The striker is expected to lead the line for Armenia on Friday in a friendly against Germany in Mainz, and there will be a significant number of scouts from those interested parties in attendance.

ssn reported earlier that a number of Premier League clubs are also tracking Yura Movsisyan. I don't which other EPL clubs though.

Anyway, Eds, do you know more on this?

Believable8 Unbelievable42

{Ed002's Note - Spartak's Movsisyan is subject to the interest of West Bromwich Albion, Wolfsburg and Everton. Both Fulham and Wolfsburg spoke to Spartak in January but were told he was not for sale. I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time.}

06 Jun 2014 14:02:03
Before we sign more strikers I would like to see us offload Aspas and Borini, if that is really what BR wants to do.

Just asking eds, newspaper reports about Fabregas going to Chelsea seem to suggest he was offered to us, amongst other, and we turned him down? If this is true I do find it weird seeing as he's not too dissimilar to Lallana and worth the same amount - surely he's more proven?

Believable3 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Fabregas being offered to Liverpool. I am aware that during discussions Chelsea were given a price for the player by Barcelona - this was about three weeks ago.}

06 Jun 2014 07:15:45
Hey ed's and reds.
Just wondering if it's a case of lallana and shaqiri or whether it's more of lallana OR shaqiri situation?
As I just can't see where all this money is coming from especially if you add a cb (lovren) into the equation plus the imminent arrival of moreno. Obviously player sales will help but as Ed002 has taught me the transfer fee is only one part of the overall cost.
Always really appreciate any comments, thanks
YNWA

Believable15 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think it is unlikely both will move to Liverpool Deano.

And you are right about the transfer fee being part of the cost, and just to be clear that we don't get any further questions on the matter - for transfer fees, what is paid by the buying club would typically include:
(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the EPL.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent about £25M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years leading to this window).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches(what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills originates from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (sometimes waived).

What is paid by the selling club would typically include:
(a) If the player is under 24, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(b) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(c) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).}

Hi ed, since I'll be considerably free for the next two months, can you recommend me a book which is more specific to financial matters in football?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any books that will help per se, but Stephen Morrow is one of the leading experts on the subject. You should be able to find something of his. But don't bring any questions here please.}

Would you be willing to offer an estimate, as a percentage of the "transfer fee", of what these additional costs are? 25%?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - No, I really don't want to get in to this.}

Ed, thanks for the breakdown. It appears a lot more complicated that just the fee 'paid'.

What a huge fee paid to agents alone.

jesus christ edd I think every footy fan should swerve asking about how much will A B or C PLAYER cost when he signs for a team (to complicated )

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I have to agree Franky.}

I think from what I've read here, and I could be wrong, but I think Lallana is what BR really wants, but will move to Shaqiri if Lallana is deemed too expensive. We could have already moved to Shaqiri atm but who knows. I don't see us meeting what Southampton wants, whatever the amount is.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 10:30:30
Thank you again Ed002
I'm sure a lot of us find this very helpful in understanding a little more of the complexities of transfers
That's why you don't talk about money

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jun 2014 10:33:26
The intention of the club is to bring in a winger as well as Lallana as I understand Rodgers wants him to operate in the role of a number 10, presuming we can get him of course, this will require player sales though. Not necessarily Suarez but I imagine Lucas, Agger, Maybe Skrtel, Aspas & Assaidi etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps the club see Lallana as flexible.}

I couldn't agree more ed. But obviously if the opportunity arose to utilise a player in what they perceive to be their best position that would be preferable. I do agree though that Lallana is very flexible in terms of where he can play. Don't the Southampton fans have a song about that?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing of football songs at all. And am happy to go through life not knowing.}

06 Jun 2014 12:29:37
Thanks for your time Ed002 and great response, as I think some fans could do with more knowledge as to the actually break down of one transfer! Then they might be more realistic in their questions and use of crazy numbers on fees

Agree1 Disagree0

Ya end not as issue, I just wanted to know before hand how a club exactly works because I'll be auditing one in my country soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it the the same stephen morrow that tony adam dropped in the 90s ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Of course not. Come on, think.}

"He plays on the left. He plays on the right. Adam Lallana, makes Messi look rubbish."
