Liverpool will need to spend over 100m again this summer, Grujic is already set to join along with free agent Joel Matip while Liverpool are also working on the signing of Ben Chilwell who is out of contract this summer. Grant Xhaka, Marco Reus, Jack Butland and Leroy Sane are the the main targets. Klopp wants to add width to his Liverpool side. Texiera, Toure and Enrique are out of contract while the club will be looking to sell Benteke, Lallana, Skrtel, Allen, Balotelli, Alberto, Bogdan and despite recent reports Markovic. Klopp said he will give Markovic a chance pre season but the club will part with him for around 15m. I have heard from a very reliable source that Man City will sign Gundongan.

But is your source reliable about the Liverpool dealings?

Most teams would consider rues and sane 'targets' but are they realistic targets for us. If we did pull of an amazing deal for one, there's not chance we'd get both, and we'd pay a lot.

I've got to be honest I would rather not have another massive summer of transition and mass changes. We just need a bit more quality over quantity. Some better scouted players who fit what the manager needs. If I had any guesses, it would be a LB, a CB, a DM/ CM and a winger.
A GK would be great but I don't think we should jump at it unless a really good one becomes available. Not all of these need sorting over one window, expecting 5 new first team signings to gel together straight away is just stupid.

I would personally prefer Brad Smith brought into the squad as LB, Keven Stewart in the DM/ CM role. We have Markovic back, hopefully he can grab his chance.
Maybe I'm just dreaming that our youngsters could be the answer to our squads deficiencies. Plus I don't really want to write off anyone of our players yet, they lack belief and concentration but with the right coaching and organisation maybe they aren't so bad, over priced and overpaid maybe, but not that bad.

{Ed001's Note - Grujic and Matip not counted? And surely a goalie is THE priority?}

Sorry I actually meant to put them in. I don't know, I just don't want us to sign another short term GK. End up with a flake of a keeper and have to do this all again. A new Pep Reina (pre poppadom hands) would be nice. Like I say, I'd prefer it if we waited til the right one came along, not the best of a bad bunch. This is just a personal opinion though.

{Ed001's Note - surely the point is that we should go and get the right one now, not wait?}

GK and a pacy goalscoring winger would be all we need IMO. Don't want to see wholesale changes and another period of "transition", squad looking like it's starting to click so just a player or two will be enough. Also Matip already strengthens us at CB, Flanno or Smith can solve for LB.

CM is a tougher one, we have tons of younger talent there in Grujic, Can, Rossiter, Stewart, so with Hendo, Milner, Lucas, Allen also able to play there we are fine enough, but then again I still wouldn't mind a world class midfield general if we can get one (but would mean moving on Allen and potentially others) . Definitely not a must have though.

Like I said in my original post, if the right keeper came along then great, go get him. I just don't personally see the point of getting another interim keeper and hope he's better than Mignolet. Yes it's a priority but a crap defense can make any gk look average. I would rather us take our time for once and make the right signings.

Keeper will be interesting ed with the test deal and ward what's the plan there.

The priority should be a GK, a winger, a LB and try to trim down the squad.

Agree with Zimbo that we can live without buying a CM like so many people want.

What's your opinion on Darren Randolph as an option?

{Ed001's Note - not even close to good enough.}

Personally who would you like to see brought in? A direct replacement for mings or a backup?

alberto

savvyxone i'd try for ter stegen or Kevin Trapp, Mattia Perin, Bernd Len, o and i rate Idriss Carlos Kameni not sure if any of them are possible or realistic if i had to choose 2 it would be perin he looks like he will replace buffon in the national team i'd have said stegen but its a bit worrying he hasn't made himself the Barcelona number 1 any of the above i'd be happy.

Agree0 Disagree10

{Ed001's Note - Trapp? Not a chance we could afford to buy PSG's starting keeper from them. They are owned by Qatar, the TV company that has the Premier League coverage in most of the world is the same owners. They could buy Liverpool as a feeder club if they wanted!}

@Giblet. China could be in the market for some of our best players. Benteke and Balotelli could be huge over there. If I was a Chinese Chairman reading some sites to see who is available and would be brilliant, these would be top of my list and a bid of around £70million for the two of them would be sufficient to convince LFC, admittedly with a heavy heart, to sell these two world famous goal scoring machines. I only hope the Chinese don't read this site. Would be terrible to see them go. But, man, they would turn the lights on big time on the Chinese League.

Why do we have to spend a hundred million (which is a staggering amount of money) every year? what's the point of buying 4 or 5 wannabes or 'could bes' every year. We need (as has been said countless times) to move on a large number of players who either don't fit the bill (Benteke) or are never going to make the grade. We need a goalkeeper, an experienced established wide player and possibly a left back (if we get rid of Moreno) .

With

GK New Signing plus Ward (or at a push Mignolet) as back-up

Defence : New Signing, Smith, Flannagan, Clyne, Gomez, Matip, Sakho, Lovren and Ilori

Midfield : New Signing, Stewart, Lucas, Can, Henderson, Grujic, Couthinho, Ibe, Ojo and Rossiter

Attack : Sturridge, Firmino, Origi and Ings (who I think will be a revelation)

I'm sure there will be one or two surprises aong the way (Klpp no doubt has a couple of things up his sleeve but honest to God how many times has trying to buy our way out of trouble not worked?

They ay not be stupid but they are spending that kind of money. Yes 70m is a stretch but he was clearly joking. He thinks they would pay up a decent price.

Was a bit tongue in cheek. Honestly, think Benteke needs a new club as he's a decent striker but not for where we are going. Balotelli would get money from the Chinese because he would be publicity and lots of it along with the faint whiff of 'world-class' about him. The Chinese are in the market for publicity and making their own people think they have something special with their league so there is definitely money to be made for smart agents and players who don't mind breathing smoke for a couple of well paid years. Wont be long before they buy some European clubs to runs loans back and forth with. Also won't be long before some elder coaches head over there. Van Gaal would be the type they will look for. Big name, near the end of their career at the top level, and looking for a bigger pension pot. Pellegrini as well.
