To Editor, Have a couple of questions for you, Would appreciate if you could answer me:

1- We are being linked with lots of Central Midfielders ( Gaston Ramirez, Shinji Kagawa & Gotze) when we have an abdonce of them. (Adam, Henderson, Gerrard, Young Shelvy)

Why do you think we are not targeting defensive midfielders when we have only Lucas who is good enough to play as a DM?

If Lucas gets a long injury lay-off we are left with nothing. Some say Jay Spearing, i see the lad works very hard but just not good enough, sure every red would love to have someone like Ever Banega, Moussa Sissoko or Freddy Guarin in the expense of Jay Spearing.

2- I think if Liverpool are to sign a player a right winger should be their number 1 priority. Except for Downing & Bellamy there are no-one sort of a winger in the squad.

Do you think LFC will be looking for a winger if they are to sign a player soon & do you agree with me the fact that LFC squad lacks one more winger, a defensive Midfielder & a young pacy Center-Back?

Chopman {Ed009's Note - I would suggest that the first three players you mention - of whom only Kagawa seems anything like likely at the minute - are not really central midfielders but creative 'in the hole players'; something we still severely lack.

Moussa Sissoko is certainly a possibility for future windows, in fact a bid is close to a likelihood - we continued to look at him even after Adam and Henderson's arrivals.

A right winger though would be my priority too; Bellamy is not really a winger and Downing can't do it all. Johnson would be a fantastic purchase and City will most likely continue to look for a replacement in January which could accomodate his departure. There is an abundance of young talented wingers right now though. One final word: don't expect to see any of the above in January. Business for the season is close to done.}

Lad you're talking nonsense. Firstly, I think Spearing will be good enough to be Lucas's backup. Secondly Banega, Sissoko and Guarin are not defensive midfielders, they're all attack minded. Thirdly, none of those three would be prepared to be backup to Lucas - they'd all want to be first choice. And there's no dislodging Lucas from our midfield on current form he's world class.

Banega, Sissoko & Guarin are defensive midfielders believe it or not, if you are thinking Lucas is the type of player what we call a Defensive Midfield then you are wrong the difference between Lucas & them are they are more attacking & even though they will be sitting in front of back-four they occasionally participate in attack & score Goals & make these strong runs from the middle of the park.
Also we are not buying the players/player to be back-up to Lucas they will be challenging him for the spot.
Can Spearing challenge Lucas for DM spot? Of course not, not in near future. Spearing is not good enough. Having strong competition for positions will certainly improve the team.

I still think that little defensive gap if due to the fact that the Alonso bridge has not yet been fixed. Alonso had 3 things that no other played had; Tackling and an amazing sense of range and a fabulous long range shot. When we play both Adam and Lucas, Lucas has the tackling and Adam has the range and shot, not the tackling. Before Alonso used to beautifully link up the play, we didn't need another player, but that creativity link is now missing from the lineup.

Don't get me wrong, Lucas is a great defensive midfielder, but he doesn't have the range that Alonso has. Adam may have it, but he doesn't have the tackling. No matter what defensive player you think of, nobody has the skills that Alonso possessed whilst he was at the club.

IMO, I think Henderson will actually be either put into that position or he'll be put into the attacking midfield position, because from what I've seen, he has the potential to link up the play very well.

Johnson, I believe is going to arsenal in january, if not jan then definitely the summer

I'd add sterling to the bench now and then. in my option he's as good as any we have now to be coming in off the bench for L/R wing

Having a good defensive and attacking midfield is excatly what we need.

If I Were to see a good midfield for liverpool it would be this.

Cissokho/lucas

Marin Gerrard Gotze/eriksen Downing

Ed, i only ask because i highly rate the players. Have Liverpool ever held any interest that may be followed up in January or next summer in:

Soldado - Valencia
Eriksen - Ajax
Martinez - Athletic Bilbao

Also do you think:

D.Wilson
D. Pacheco
J. Shelvey
J. Spearing
P. Gulacsi

have futures at Anfield? I am Jay Spearings biggest fan and believe he will be better than Mascherano but he never seems to make the bench. Wilson was hyped up as the next Alan Hansen yet he never plays. Shelvey and Pacheco are brilliant players, but both have only managed to shine outside the premier league and Gulacsi is a great goalkeeper imho.

I know you must get a lot of posts but I'd really appreciate an answer, i don't post often :)

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - I would certainly not expect to see Soldado, Eriksen or Martinez moving in January and I would at this time doubt any will be moving to Liverpool in the summer - but it is impossible to say with certainty. Of the others, don't ever expect to see Pacheco playing for Liverpool again, Spearing is certainly a squad player and perhaps Wilson will join Shelvey on loan. Until Reina moves on it is impossible to say what will happen with Gulacsi.}

By that ed do you mean you expect reina to go anytime soon? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea how you came up with that thought.}

Liverpool should look to Jovetic as a long term replacement for Gerard. Excellent talent and suited to premiership. Very energetic and skillful, good vision. Has it all

Just watched the Academy match Liverpool beating United 2-1. Really good defence and attack, missing the creative midfield though. Byo was excellent as a holding player as well as Regan, Dunn, Raffery. Stars of the future. Not forgettin Silva, Suso, Moli. Keep it up folks. Could do with a few more players in the Academy for added competition

Ed - what is the latest on Gaston Ramirez? Have heard LFC are very keen...wonder if work permit would be an issue though. {Ed002's Note - Tothe best of my knowledge the reported interest is based upon speculation only. There certainly has not been an approach to his club yet.}

Ed do you know of any interest from liverpool in marco marin, gotze or christian eriksen? {Ed001's Note - yes, we tried to include Erikssen in the Suarez deal. We have taken an interest in all 3, if any are available in the summer, I would expect us to at least enquire.}

Hearing strong rumours of erikson going to man city & marin going to spuds along with muniain, marin according to kick magazine will either team up with the london outfit or stay in germany? with liverpool sniffing around for lennon, not
sure what's going to happen with johnson,
city may well sell to arsenal as part of a
van persie deal, liverpool also mulling over the idea of acquiring another centre half? not sure as to who, but there are voices of discontent

Ed would we not be interested in any of the three in january? {Ed002's Note - I don't see Goetze as happening at all, Eriksen would be the slimmest of chances in the summer, but Martin may be possible, but probabl;y not in January.}

Marin or martin? marin dont fancy a move to liverpool
