were going to need someone like him in Jan / Feb, Our star player Mane is playing in the African Cup or something, and will miss about four games, two being United and Chelsea, I am really hoping that Ojo makes the big step up, he has it in him to do it .

I do find it interesting that scouts watch internationals.
It's so different to club football.

ron, yes me too. And I find it interesting that someone above thinks we need to sign a player in January as Mane will be missing for 4 games. yes 4 missing games means we need a massive January signing. Is that to replace a player many of us in here thought was not very good before he had kicked a ball in the colours of LFC?

If I remember correctly, Mane missed the Burnley game, one that most fans thought would be a handy three points, and guess what, there goalie could have been reading the programme, we were awful, after just three games, we are already playing catch up .
maybe icon, you forgot to read the post properly, I said two important points .
one, Mane will miss two very big games, Man U and Chelsea .
two, I said that I hoped Ojo would be able to step up, as I think that he can .
if I can just add, that Liverpool paid a very big fee to get Mane, and already he is being looked at maybe being our Star player .
we really need someone else up front, to take us to the next level .

Redforever. I have to point out that you said he'd be missing for 4 games but named 2 of the teams he will miss. So are you saying he will miss 2 or 4 games? You did say you hope ojo can step up
But you also did say we need someone like Dahoud in January. That tells me you think we should sign Dahoud in January. Iconic did read it properly, you didn't write it properly I think.

actually WelshRed, Mane will be missing for more than four games, I did mention the two big games, as I thought them the most important, Mane will also miss an FA. Cup game, 4th round I think, also a League cup game, if we are still involved, its my opinion that this season, we don't have the team to make top four, as we have too many weak spots in the team,
if you look at other teams, were they have bought to improve their team, spending huge amounts of money, its far too easy to get left behind, and end up mid table .
there is a transfer window in Jan, that I think Klopp will use to improve our team .
we have so many injuries, Ojo himself has been out, one of many, but I see him a big star one day .
now I can't see the future, but Mane will miss Cup games, whoever we are drawn against, also how far Manes national team gets to .
I hope this makes my previous post a bit clearer, sorry if it came across not so clear .
I also believe that we might become too relient on Mane, and fall back when he does not play, this is were I amlooking at the bigger picture, and mention Ojo, or Dahoud, who I think we will see at Liverpool .

Just like to point out to Redforever that Dahoud is not a winger or forward, so the talk of Manè and Ojo is completely irrelevant!

07 Sep 2016 01:01:11
WelshRed, I just looked at my first post, and I did say that Mane will be missing for about four games . this being, like I have mentioned, how far we go in the Cup Games, and how long Mane is away for,
you asked, am I saying is it two or four, well it could be six, we will see, but one point that I am making is that Mane is becoming so important for us, that his absence will be reflected on the results, hence why I think we should buy big in January, to make the team stronger .
I don't want to see us in 8th place ever again .

Ragout is being scouted for next season, I read somewhere so don't understank those saying he'll be bought to compensate for Mane who'll be off to the AFCON, especially as he's a CM and not a winger. Makes no sense really.

That makes things a LOT clearer redforever. Who do you feel we need in January to strengthen? For me, it's too early to call except the obvious LB situation.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Clubs rarely if ever plan for January transfers. Clubs do not wish to sell because of disruption. Additionally, clubs do not buy cover for players going to the Africa Cup of Nations. I would not get your hopes up too much.}

Cheers Ed 👍.

Maradoo, Klopp likes his strikers and attacking players to rotate positions during play, you could see Sturridge or Mane anywere up front, and that's the type of player that he likes, I am hoping that when he does buy another offensive player, he will fit into his system, just trust in Klopp, he is not perfect, but he is our manager .

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Sep 2016 14:42:44
WelshRed, I can see us bringing in the obvious left back, a defensive midfielder, and let Lucas move on, also a pacy attacking player . this Dahoud kind of fits the bill, also he is on his last year of contract, will not sign a new one, he is not being picked to play first team football, so he could leave in January .
but as the Eds have said many times, transfers are more difficult in this window,
just some more info on Mane, he has just won the Liverpool player of the month, and in Jan / Feb, he could miss a minimum of four games, up to a maximum of seven games, depending on how long he is away for, and if we are in the League cup semi finals, which is over two legs .

Dahoud has 2 more years until june 2018.

Malagared, are you sure, its not what I read, anyway, that transfer might never happen, tho he is a really good player, and Klopp has a history of moving players on, and bringing in new ones .

Come January anyone else think we could do with a AM?

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Sep 2016 21:00:21
Malagared, think were both right, yes he is under contract till 2018, but he will not sign an extension to this contract, is not getting picked for his side, and will probably move on in the summer transfer window, looks like Klopp is keeping an eye on him as Liverpool scouts were checking him out .

08 Sep 2016 04:29:00
It looks like we have turned his head. But I don't se a sale in January unless we were to pay a huge money. should have bought him instead of Wijnaldum in the summer.

08 Sep 2016 04:31:29
Buying dahoud would just mean grudjic who every1 was raving about in prem season falling down pecking order who he has just bought. Left back will b bought unless milner somehow manages to play consistently well there until Jan. Just my opinion.

Agree3 Disagree0

08 Sep 2016 18:21:24
yes, hoping Grudjic will get game time, think there is something about him needing so many games to get his work permit? , I think come next summer, there could be one or two first teamers leaving,
this Dahoud is only young, and plays a bit like Couts, who as he improves, will attract the interest of the top two spanish clubs,
so lots to look forward to, Anfield will be rocking on sat evening .

Should never base signing players on how they perform in internationals.

I wanted to see Grujic come on instead of Moreno in the last match, but I think he'll get his time given a couple of months with us. It'll be hard for him though -- Can is one of our most valuable players and wasn't in the lineup yesterday and it looks like Stewey will be a favorite of Klopp (particularly when we're winning late in games) . Lucas could be played in that position a few times as well so Grujic will have to continue to impress in training and earn that spot.

Never posted an old-school rumour before but this is as close as I've ever come to one so thought i'd share with you guys.

I got chatting to a lad down in Bierkeller the other day who said his friend works at Melwood. He said contrary to what you hear from him in the press, Milner is REALLY unhappy about playing left back. One way or another, it looks like this will not be continuing after January regardless of how well he plays there.

He also mentioned Arsenal's interest in Sturridge on deadline day, said that DS 'hates' Klopp, and that they had a bit of a bust up after the game at Burton when he was unhappy about being brought on with no time to do anything (though I assume the lad actually meant the Tottenham game when he came on in the 88th minute. He was an Evertonian himself, so) .

Pretty much nothing we couldn't already have guessed but i thought i'd share anyway. I've extracted a wealth of knowledge from this site over the years so time to give back what I can!

Thanks joe.

A lot can change before Jan, so we'll see how this plays out. If we're 10 points clear at the top that might improve Milner's mood 😃.

Agree11 Disagree4

06 Sep 2016 16:05:31
At the end of the day, it looks like Milner will have to lump it. Can't see us spending on a new left back in January (unless Milner has an absolute shocker) and given Milner's wages I can't see anyone being interested in taking him on, so it's a Mexican stand off.

Agree5 Disagree6

06 Sep 2016 16:25:57
the situation with sturridge could come to a head in January, especially if he keeps getting overlooked in the strikers role, milner will be nothing but professional about his situation.

Agree7 Disagree3

06 Sep 2016 18:06:38
Been told the Sturridge to Arsenal rumour on deadline day is rubbish. Certainly from our perspective anyway.

Agree5 Disagree5

06 Sep 2016 22:49:34
i like milner and we do miss his crosses and passes when he is in midfield, and would we really miss sturridge if he is going to be injured all the time any way, not since suarez was with us have we had more than 10 games from sturridge, i understand he is unhappy but as far as i cam make out some of his injuries are in his head or he won't play if he does not feel a 100% even though the doctors have said he is fit, i would sell sturridge because we would get a very good price for him and also he is injured too much i would love another player like suarez whos attitude was he just wanted to play all the time he did not worry if he had a little niggle and he gave his all and never held anything back were as i think sturridge won't sprint or run like he used to do maybe he has been told not to sprint to much or run too much

its a pity we never got a quality or decent left back in the transfer window then instead of having a few players un happy we would on have moreno unhappy.

Sell Sturridge. Get Suarez. I like it! Maybe a few technical issues, safly.

Agree3 Disagree3

07 Sep 2016 01:10:30
Yeah Shanks, my personal opinion based on what i've read on here was that Liverpool were never interested in the Sturridge deal. I hope our relationship with him is not irreparable.

I get what you're saying mbrock but i for one would like to see if he can play his way back to the pace and form he had that season before looking to sell. Especially to a rival. Even now when he's not burning past defenders like he used to he scores goals at a ridiculous rate. We won't buy better.

Sturridge isn't Suarez, but he is Sturridge, which isn't bad either. On form he walks into any premier league team. You can't get another Suarez, but i think we have looked to bring in players with the same energetic attitude to surround DS.

If Studge wants to leave because he can't put on his big boy pants and get on with it, then he can leave, quite frankly. He's 27 already and obviously needs to grow up and get stuck in. He's a very good player and to me, the best natural finisher in the PL, hands down. However, Klopp doesn't care about any of that as clearly, Studge either isn't ready or his body won't allow him to do what Klopp asks Firmino and Origi to do as in, press the defence and harry them. If either of these is the case then he has a decision to make.

think this season will make or break Sturridge, if he is not getting enough game time, if he is not scoring enough goals, if his work rate doesn't improve, then I can see him moving on, to a London club maybe . just hope things change for the better, because when he is scoring, he is one of the best .
