Sneijder deadline day

Liverpool need to dig deep and get a strike partner for suarez because if not we will lose another great player so here's hoping the big bosses are thinking {Ed002's Note - They have done it already.}

13,000,000 - Sturridge

He won't score the goals we need, but a great addition.

We've just bought Sturridge and laid out a reported £12 million for Borini [ admittedly he looked disappointing before his injury ] who should be fit again soon.Yeah I'd love a 30 goal a season £30 million pound striker but we'll have to get by with what we have and can afford.

The Plank

Yeah I admit Borini wasn't looking at his best before his injury but he needs to be given a chance, same as Sturridge. I firmly believe with Suarez, Sturridge and Borini upfront all interchanging positions during a game (once they get used to playing with each other) they can be a dangerous front 3 all scoring their fair share of goals.

SA {Ed001's Note - we never saw him play much before he was injured, it was found he had been playing through injury for a while.}

08 Jan 2013 12:13:07
This is clearly believable!

Sorry Ed, was Borini injured when he joined, or picked up the injury early in the season?
SA {Ed001's Note - it is hard to be entirely sure, but it is believed he picked it up very early in the season.}

Plus he'd been at 3 or 4 clubs in a year and was only a year out of the academy anyway. I think he'll come good - I sit next to a bunch of Chelsea fans at work (we all have our crosses to bear), and they were *really* not happy that we got him.

Isn't our 30m+ striker out on loan still? Not sure the price should be seen as a direct reflection of the value.

As RB used to say, if your table is wobbly you need the right leg to fix it not the most expensive - or something like that.

Sturridge could fit brilliantly in the fullness of time, and certainly the next few years will determine whether he will be a great striker or not. Borini has had less time than we gave Torres or Crouch to settle in before he got injured.

Dont want to be reading into things to much but in an interview rodgers said how great suarez is and we have to enjoy him while hes here in this country..so id say he will head off if a substantial offer was tabled..higher wage, warmer climate and getting to speak his native tongue i think it would suit all parties and the deal would happen without to much of a fight from liverpool

07 Jan 2013 22:49:37
hey eds

whats with the link with arda turan. reports in sky say that we are in for him..whats your understanding?

thanks {Ed002's Note - Arda was certainly looked at by Liverpool but clearly those that were in control of transfers did not progress any initial interest. Eventually he moved to Spain. We knew very early on that he would be leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid once money had been freed up through the sale of Aguero - although there was strong interest from elsewhere. Arda Turan will most likely move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England and Italy although there remains a chance that previous German interest will still be there and an outside chance of a return to Turkey. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they do not want to sell in January.}

Hello eds,

Sorry To Ask You This Again As I am Sure You Have Answered This But Can You Clear This Debate And Discussion On Luis Suarez. His Image By the Day Is Being Tainted In English Football But No Doubt He Is Up There With The Worlds Best. Will He leave At the End Of The Season ( Likely Destination) And Are The Owners For the Right Money Looking To Sell Him

Thanks
Reply Much Appreciated
GAM# {Ed002's Note - I am not opening this up right now GAM - but there remains interest in him.}

There is an unlimited amount of words to use in response to this post. The one I've chosen on this occasion is quite simply...............Dumb.

He'll still be a Liverpool player next season

Suarez has to stay.

Fsg out of this happens

Suarez loves the controversy

07 Jan 2013 21:39:20
Ed002, we are clearly looking for a foward on loan, do you think we may go for eduardo vargas as he may be available on loan with an option to buy? cheers {Ed002's Note - Eduardo Vargas, who has been in talks with Gremio, Sao Paulo and Flamengo, will leave Napoli in January. His stated preferred and most likely destination is Sao Paulo but his agent is suggesting Arsenal may be interested. He has not settled in Europe and all previous interest from Russia seems to have dried up due to that.}

07 Jan 2013 21:31:45
Eds fellow reds, just read an article by tony Barrett the times and he's saying we are close to a loan deal for that French striker we've been linked with .

Surely if you have just read this particular article you can remember the guys name?
DavisYNWA

His name is Kevin gameiro

07 Jan 2013 21:24:25
Hi eds

Just wondering at the minute we can not get big names in because of cost and wages right? Well say we get champions league nxt year do you honestly think we could get a kind of player we so desperately need like a no 10, someone who knows where he is going to put the ball be4 he even gets it, a playmaker. Can you fire some names of that caliber who (now remember if we get champions league) would come to us and we would have enough money to buy and pay wages.
Thanks

Jr {Ed002's Note - Being in the CL does make a club more attractive and does bring money. But there are numerous other factors to consider. Much depends on who you are thinking of as a "number 10" - which I am not entirely sure what that is.}

An 'ozil' ?

Come on Ed. I thought you guys knew your football. A 'number 10' that our friend is referring to is a David Silva, a Juan Mata, a Wayne Rooney, a Santi Carzola . All the best teams have a world class playmaker (usually a midfielder) who chips in with lots of assists and makes play tick. {Ed002's Note - How many "world class" players are there then?"

Ed reina is going- man u
Any chance of these to replace him

Begovic
Butland
Foster
Krul
Pantillimon
Lindergaard

Coates to wba loan

{Ed002's Note - I agree they will arrive to replace him.}

Eds002, very witty! Haha, I thought you were Canadian, but no Candaian can be that witty surely..?

Manali-Cream

6 goalkeepers? We're not pulling any punches this year.

Is reina leaving ed?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - One day Pepe will move on.}

Ed's what's the probability Reina will leave? {Ed002's Note - 100%; you just need to accept that one day Pepe will no longer be at the club.

Wow this is beginning to sound rather morbid!

Reina has been very poor for the past two seasons, he has the lowest save per shot ratio in the prem this season - he has served us well, but the time has come for him to move on!

I think what Ed002 is saying in a rather 'tongue in cheek way' is that one day Pepe will either leave for another club or retire.
So Ed's perfectly right to say he will 'move on' some day and will no longer be at the club.

Time waits for no man, not even Pepe Reina.

As the other post hinted. Time certainly has caught up with pepe over the last 2 years. We should cash in.

Oh how quickly they forget. The people who come on here bleating how poor Reina has become and how he is past his best will be the first to wring their hands and whinge when he has gone.

Have a day off gents - Pepe is gradually getting back to his best...with all the continued support from the fair weather fans of course!!

Ed002, good answer to a s*** WUM question. Nearly19

Fair weather fans? I am a season ticket holder at Anfield and have been for many years. I can assure you, I have followed Liverpool home and away, through good and bad - oh yes I am a scouser also. Firstly I did not state that Reina was past his best, I simply stated fact, he has been and continues to be very poor - Facts do not lie. Sentiment has no place in progress, and I for one will never forget how good he has been (past tense). The time has come to secure a new goal keeper!

Pantillomon?

Reina isn't going to united

Nothing to do with liverpool eds but are you a betting man because how these bookies work nowadays they even do odds on transfers and you are 9 times outa 10 right and also what you Wrekin percentage of exfooballers from /80s and 90s gamble on coupons addictive though thank you bigj {Ed002's Note - I would not encourage anyone to bet but suspect many did on Llorente at 8 to one or whatever it was.}

07 Jan 2013 21:39:54
Hi Ed I heard that LFC are targetingPSV Eindhoven winger Dries Mertens as an alternative for the wing options.
pls could comfirm if there is any truth In this rumour? {Ed002's Note - I don't see Mertens moving to LIverpool in January. If he moves next summer I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich although there remains serious interest from Lazio.}

I have worked for 2 renowned bookmakers, believe me these market aren't worth betting on, the have inside infomants. VC were paying big money for several years to people inside before fair trading caught up with them. They will hear anything before the ordinary man, and reduce odds accordingly.
The only way to have a gain, is by having a person on the inside yourself, but back more than £50 and win and they will monitor you for insider trading.

07 Jan 2013 19:28:31
Hi eds, does any interest remain with Luc Castaignos for a potential summer move? There was talk of it last summer and it definitely won't happen this month. {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off and I can't say.}

07 Jan 2013 19:27:34
Heard from a source at Melwood that LFC and Blackpool are close to a deal on Ince (probably around £4.5M) but it was agreed up front that he would remain at the Seasiders until end of the season - hence his appearance in the FA Cup.

Just a thought Eds but I wonder whether it would be worth summarising a list of known or potential targets for thew Reds as you see them and keeping it at the top of the page? You seem to be batting away the same questions constantly. Cheers for your efferts anyway. {Ed002's Note - It makes no difference - we tried it before.}

Will not happen. Which will be good. I don't want Ince!

Agree with you

Why would we buy him then loan him back until the end of the season when his contract runs out in the summer and we could get him on a free then anyway?

07 Jan 2013 20:10:40
why buy a player now and not get him until summer when we can get him for nothing then. you've not really thought this through have you {Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that.}

07 Jan 2013 19:20:19
What is Benedikt Howedes contract situation? 8 months remaining I read somewhere. When could we sign a pre-contract now? Also Dries Mertens, goals & pace. Are we interested?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - 18 months left and he can sign a pre-contract in January 2014.}

07 Jan 2013 19:12:53
Ince deal off, BR will stick with downing, also Butland seems dead in the water, god in years to come we will rue the chance we once had !
A last minute deal for someone on final day is possible, but a risky stratagey ! (Have we not leant)
Heard BR say he wants players who can play a number of position .. Heard that too many times now.
Some of the players who are linked are quite poor indeed, hope if we do get someone hope its not another player BR used to coach YNWA

Staines Red

Why if the players good enough it doesnt matter

What chance? If we cannot get them it is because we cannot pay what they want, end of story.

I agree with the 'player BR used to coach' statement - so far his signings have been unimaginative, to say the least.

Superman on spider man the best option..who can play on no of position...
get a grip mate

07 Jan 2013 19:06:03
Hi eds I am sure you have already answered this questions tried the search box but no real answer. If FSG have a age group of around 18 to 24 ( as a guess) younger players to be blooded the more seasoned ones in the team why did we not move for Lewis holtby as I understand it he was free in the summer seems like a player we would be interested in his dad is from Liverpool (so I am told). Did we try to get him if so how come He is going to spurs was it the money he was after or just or club didn't Appel to him any info would be good . Keep up the outstanding work !!! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot be interested in and try an buy every player. Perhaps BR does not see him fitting with the style Liverpool play.}

I read somewhere that his dad was a Everton fan and so was he.

His dad told him he would never speak to him again if he signed for us, allegedly.

07 Jan 2013 18:18:39
Ed002 do you find it suprising that we have not moved for belhanda? we had previous interest, rodgers has said he wants a number 10 and he is reasonably cheap for the standard of player he is {Ed002's Note - I am not surprised at all that there has been no move from an English club.}

Is there some reason why English clubs should not be interested in him ? I thought he was highly rated.

miccmak {Ed002's Note - There is a reason but, regardless of that, chances of a move to Liverpool in January are around zero.}

I think Rodgers has already got his eyes on Eriksen as his Number 10 in the summer. Will be tough to pull off but who knows

Amz

Rodgers has pretty much stated that Suarez will be the number 10 behind Sturridge. {Ed002's Note - Is that a "fake number 10" and will people need to buy new shirts?}

Ed002

Very curious to know the reason. I'm not disagreeing with you, just wondering. Is it also why other European clubs did not want to take him for the price? Personality clashes? (I know last year he had a bustup with Giroud, iirc) {Ed002's Note - The reason is not relevant, sorry.}

07 Jan 2013 18:00:54
Ed's please rate possibility of bringing this players:
1. Lucas Digne
2. Adam Matthews
3. Victor Wanyama
4. Adem Ljajić
5. Ahmed Musa

{Ed002's Note - None of these players will move to Liverpool in January.}

07 Jan 2013 16:52:57
i heard recently off a friend who is a part-time physio at west brom that liverpool are looking into the possibility of signing shane long either now or in the summer. is there any truth in this?

Why would we get Shea long, we have got the best striker in the premier league and when he is at his best, he is probably the best in the world (Suarez), and we have signed Daniel Sturridge who is probably the best young talent England has to offer, apart from raheem sterling who we already have .

07 Jan 2013 16:29:45
Quaresma has signed for UAE club Al Ahly...

Cheers..

Yippee !!!!!!!! at last that one can be put to bed, what a awful player

That speaks volumes about his ethics as a player - over rated and money motivated.
that's not the sort of player we want or need.

No great loss, we just got rid of one past it waster in joe cole didnt need another, give me Ince any day, talented quick clearly hungry and hard working plus he WANTS to play for us.

07 Jan 2013 16:25:44
Ed . Is there any truth that we are in for leeds united sam byram 19 year old right back and can play right mid {Ed002's Note - You need to find Ed013 and ask - try the Leeds page.}

07 Jan 2013 16:21:36
Ed2 mate you said you might have more on the Gomis situation today? Is it true that we are serious about him?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Bafetimbi Gomis scored three goals in a game a few weeks ago when we understand Liverpool had scouts at the game - but it was supposition that they were there to see any particular player. Chelsea had someone attend a game before Christmas and again in a cup match which was also attended by a Newcastle representative. I don't know if any bids have been made but Lyon are seeking to raise some funds. I suspect Liverpool's interest has gone.}

07 Jan 2013 15:49:10
Hi Eds, love the site and I'm a first time poster. I may be going over old ground here but did we manage to sign the young Brazilian William Souza in the end? He looks good for his age and has been dubbed the new Neymar, just wondering if you could shed some light on this for me please, cheers {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware and it would be some years before he could move to England in any case - he needs to be 18.}

How can you be dubbed the new neymar, when neymar is a kid himself? In that case Jordan Ibe is the new Sterling.

07 Jan 2013 15:20:56
Eds have Liverpool ever looked at Damaio ? I've seen an editor say we have and another not. Can anyone clear this up for me thanks. DBol {Ed002's Note - There was not attempt to buy or loan him in the last window. He was certainly on of the Brazilian players looked at last summer by Liverpool.}

Ed how much do you think he will go for ive seen different amounts varying from £15m - £30m being floated around

BigD {Ed002's Note - I am not even going to suggest an amount. He has pretty ugly ownership so it won't be any easy task unless the figure is high. The club value him at an entirely unrealistic 60M euros.}

I'm told spurs are in the process of tying up deals for both damiao and moutinho? with heurelho gomes being part of the damiao deal! holtby could well join them this jan in a £1.5 mill deal? im not sure how true this is but I'm again told alex song has not settled in spain and has advised his agents to orchistrate a loan move? lfc are one of the supposed clubs to be mentioned as a potential destination?

07 Jan 2013 15:06:47
Hi Eds, just a quickie, If Sahin does go back this month or gets sold to some one else by Madrid, will Liverpool look for a replacement or simply just get on with out him as we do have many in his position we can play.

Vlad Smicer {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

07 Jan 2013 15:00:02
A friend of mine who has some involvement with one one of the Directors of Southampton says they may be interested in Coates on loan but he's only under consideration because they'd ideally like to bring in more experience to their defence.

Liverpool are pushing to land Lazio defender Modibo Diakite.

TMW says Reds chiefs have intensified their negotiations in recent days as Diakite enters talks with Lazio over his future in Rome.

The defender is off contract in June, but could push for an early release so to move to Anfield during the January transfer window

I heard about this a while ago, and you are right about liverpool rying to agree a deal with him in for him to come in the summer, maybe he will come if coates goes out on loan but can't see coates goin anywere

07 Jan 2013 13:53:08
I have a question about Downings situation. A few months ago he was as good as gone, now after some games starting there's no rumors about a move. Are Liverpool actually impressed with his performances or is there just no interest from any other clubs? For me, I can't see any improvement other than the fact that he's been on the pitch more and maybe a better work effort. He seems to be a liability in that he constantly gives away possession by whipping in crosses to no one and ruining our momentum. He also looks poor on breaks. Commentators have been very impressed with his performances though.... It's confusing; do you know anything that clear this up? Thanks and great site! {Ed002's Note - There is nothing more than interest from Boro that I am aware of right now.}

I disagree i think since Downing has had a good run in the team just like Henderson, they have improved drastically, Downing has really upped his game and is doing what he did at Villa, attacking the full backs and getting crosses in the box along with chipping in with a few goals, i have been impressed with him since the Villa game.

BigD

To be fair I think Downing has been much better in recent weeks. As you say the work rate has gone up and I think he is regaining his confidence. I also think that when he has
been 'whipping crosses into the box'
that is his job - other forwards have to at least TRY to get on the end of them.

Puzzled

Hi eds. Do you just allow these posts to go up to remind us that we still have cretins that support or beloved reds. that post is a joke. the guy clearly doesn't watch the games. Downing has been a different player altogether and he's done exactly what the manager asked off him. I would be more than happy if he is still at our club come the end of the window

Cudge

I think you may have been watching re-runs from last season mate, no real improvement? Against fulham downing was pretty much the best player on the pitch! His recent form has been a massive improvement. In my eyes its almost a win-win for BR, if he keeps playing at this standard we've got ourselves a quality winger, if not he can go in the summer, we're going to take a massive loss on hiim anyway so makes sense to keep him while he's on form. And counter attacking? Pretty sure I saw him run the entire length of the pitch on several occasions yesterday, pity nobody could keep up to support him!

It's funny because last transfer window posters were screaming that we MUST sign Adam Johnson from City as he would be the "final piece in the jigsaw" for us.He cost Sunderland £12 million and currently he's not a patch on Downing.The grass is always greener etc!"

If the crosses are going to nobody, it's because there's nobody in the box. Something that should be different now...

07 Jan 2013 14:35:42
The Ince deal is looking more like a summer move now because of Blackpool playing hardball with us, but we do have a back up plan as i said the other day we have agreed terms with Gameiro. We have permission from PSG so a deal can be completed quickly if needs be. But still need the ok from them for the loan deal to be completed witch might take time because of them just selling hoarau
Murton Red

Murton Red - How reliable are your sources, as i noticed you put up the correct team sheet hours before it was announced yesterday, As far as im concerned if Blackpool are messing about then id wait til the summer and get him back on a free transfer as he is suppose to be out of contract in the summer, as for Gameiro i think he is actually a good player but i really don't see the point in loans unless there is an option to buy, but if he does arrive then our attack would be further enhanced which is good.

BigD

Not trying to argue with you, Murton Red, but I'm not sure I understand how Ince and Gamerio would be considered 'interchangeable'? They're not very similar players I don't think and obviously have vast differences in experience level, so would seem strange that it was an either/or scenario? Would have made more sense I would have thought for it to be Sturridge or Gamerio.

That said, I hope I'm wrong and he comes. He would be a welcome addition.

07 Jan 2013 14:27:35
Someone said i posted on here the other day that we had agreed terms with Gameiro, i have never mentioned Gamerio on this site check the search history if you want

I personally have not heard anything regarding this player

I stated i believed Ince & Walcott would sign (+ Sturridge obviously)

I still believe Ince will sign, and if Walcott does not sign a contract a Arsenal as i previously stated i believe we would be in the driving seat (Although i am now am lead to believe he will proberly sign a new contract)

Ed any chance of looking at adebeyor..
he won't have any problem in switching clubs...and loan is his nick name these days..
he can chip in with some goals...
would come very cheap if we can give him some start..spurs don't want him..neither any of the teams...
we could easily get him..and once we show some interest..I am 100% confident, he himself will resolve all the issues and paperworks in a loan deal..
he is the master...

YNWA {Ed002's Note - Adebayor will not be moving to Liverpool this month.}

"Spurs don't want him"! "...Neither any of the teams"? I assume you meant by the second that no other teams are interested in taking him.So let me ask you why the hell we should pay his inflated wages so he could "chip in with some goals"? There seems to be a mania on here from some posters that we just sign and sign and sign.Somebody! Anybody! Just so long as it's a new face and never mind where the cash comes from.We don't have limitless cash to sign a dozen "they might be okay" players.

The Plank

Have you thought about why no teams want him?

Further to the Adebeyor thing. He has now agreed to play for his country in the African nations cup so would be missing 5 or 6 games if we were stupid enough to try to sign him.Makes him an even more attractive target doesn't it?

Eds,

Any interest recently from liverpool in M'Vila? Is the price tag of around £10m that some of the media are reported a good estimate?

Personally, i think his value is more £15-20, would be surpirsed if he went for as low as 10. I know he has a lot of off field issues but he is a talented footballer. Would like to see him at LFC if his price is under 10m.

Playing M'Vila alongside Lucas would make us much stronger defensively in midfield and would allow the 3rd midfielder in our 433 to go further forward which i think we have been lacking recently.

{Ed002's Note - Spurs, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Newcastle, QPR, Zenit, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Juventus have all shown a interest in M'Vila over the past year and it was thought that perhaps even PSG and Barcelona would become interested as well - although the well publicized issues have probably put pay to that. However, he was there for the taking of Arsenal should they make an offer that is acceptable to Rennes but his recent issues with his National coach has made Arsenal think again. Spurs put an offer on the table - a 15M euro bid which was rejected, something Rennes now regrets. Zenit is another club who remain interested and QPR would look to attract him to London. If he were to be available to move this winter, there is going to be no shortage of interest but I suspect he would still be happy with a move to Arsenal.}

07 Jan 2013 13:54:20
Ed..if we are really looking for a loan signing..
Y are we not going for di natale..
He is old..but he get the goals..
20 goals last season.top scorer...
he sinkled milan the other day..
the guy is quality...good pace and exclelnt finishing ability..rates our club..

I would go and get him for atleast another 20 games..

any wild guess ed?

YNWA {Ed002's Note - No chance.}

He is worshiped far too much to be leaving, he will see out the remainder of his contract there, although he is a terrific player.

BigD

His club would never let him go out on loan for exactly the reasons you have said.
Campbell

Why don't we just loan Messi and Ronaldo while we are at it.

Udenese's key player and legend.

I suppose Gerrard will be on his way to Valencia then eh?

Rumour has it that he wants to play in england, but as udineses owners also own Watford if they get promoted which is possible this season he will go there not lfc

07 Jan 2013 13:20:52
Any chance of Coutinho eds?

Thought Inter fancied keeping him.. {Ed002's Note - The situation with Philippe Coutinho remains broadly unchanged as far as I know. Inter had offered to loan Coutinho to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through in the summer. He has had a few starts recently and with Inter looking to sell Sneijder to help fund their rebuilding I don't think they want to sell but still may just consider a loan. Coutinho would need a work permit so any move would not be easy.}

Coutinho is in discussions with Saints.

07 Jan 2013 13:15:28
Sneijder could be coming in,, also once deal for ince is sorted we will be doing no more business till the summer, sneijder is 50-50 so can't see it myself, so could just be ince as last signing.. Not a bad bit of business with just ince and sturridge coming in.

Ince won't be coming. After consistently spending millions on rubbish, we are now refusing to pay reasonable costs for top players (I'm not including Ince here). That's one of the reasons why other teams get players we bid for. We have over compensated and are still suffering from KD's reign.

07 Jan 2013 12:29:19
Things might change but from what i have heard It seems that Coates is off to WBA on loan. Steve Clarke rates him from the time he spent with us.
Murton Red

Only if we get a CB in for cover. He needs first team football. I think he'll come back in the summer a much better player and push DA & MS for their place next season.

If true it would be a good move for him to get epl experience.

BigD

You have just copied that word for word from twitter, at least try to change it around if your gona claim its as your inside info

K-Man

Seb certainly needs games but WBA ? surely they are very close rivals to us for a top 6 spot.
CR

But west brom are ahead of us in the league?

Seb needs to go to a team with Spanish speaking connections. Wigan would be ideal, close proximity, Martinez, and fighting relegation. aklfc

I've heard a story from another site that Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Darren Bent on loan until the end of the season with a view to buy. Personally I can't see it having signed sturridge and due to Bent not falling into the FSG "young with potential and sell on value" policy but just wondering if anyone had heard anything on this?
Jenko

Fulham are looking to buy him outright. Even if they weren't, it's not happening. lazy journalism that he's being linked with us.

Why would we want him?

Totally agree, I was just wondering if anyone had heard similar. I can't see the thinking behind it either other than backup until the summer when other options may become available
Jenko

If its a loan, why would a sell on value matter? Nonsense rumour!!

FFS I'm just posting what I've read to gather opinion. Why folk come on here just to spout off about every post is beyond me. Not once did I say "my source says...." Or "this will definately happen...." I just posted an interesting rumour from elsewhere. I even stated I didn't think it was very likely!

Inter Milan are expected to try and offload Philippe Coutinho during the transfer window and, according to Corrierre dello Sport, Premier League duo Aston Villa and Southampton are both interested in the Brazilian midfielder.

-------

Eds if this true then obviously depending on the price he would be perfect for us as he fits in with FSG policy and is a very good player and if Sahin departs as expected then he would slot into midfield and link the play up which is what we are missing a bit we lack that someone special that can link midfield to attack and make something happen.

Hope sneijder signs bent not very shore

If he is available & work permit issues notwithstanding we should try & sign him, great feet, imagination & can finish, yes please!!
Paisley's genius

Wesley Sneijder in talks with liverpool over transfer! its just about a compromise on the wage he and his management team want...

i think the should offer him 100-150 thousand a wk and give him extras for hitting targets set by the club

Becca

This would be a great piece of business, if we want to send a message an try an keep suarez. We also lack a top quality no. 10.

He mite be in talks but it will almost certainly come to nothing as his wages are a major stumbling block and unless he were to reduce them to around £100k - £120k at most it won't be happening.

BigD

We simply cannot afford those type of wages! Why do people struggle to grasp this concept?

BrisbaneLFC

Would be a waste of money and won't happen.
CR

Never going to happen! Would be good though!

We will Never pay him 150 thousand a week.

He might get 100 thousand as do some of our other first team regulars.

Rhubarb n tosh

Its a pity you don't have to take a dope test before for posting this sort of rubbish!

This would defo fall into the doping offence category!

Crazy really in reality isn't it when we have to talk about someone taking a wage drop to around 120k a week! - If he doesn't want to play for 120k a week then we don't want him. {Ed002's Note - That figure is euros and net of all deductions. About £11M or so per year.}

Hi ed,
Sorry ed ed as this was two years ago but what clubs were interested in Suarez when he was at Ajax and who is interested now?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - As I explained, it is not worth the grief to open up the Suarez debate right now but the sustained interest remains from Juventus - but they are also looking elsewhere.}

Juventus are on the verge of signing llorente so why would they go for Suarez when he's said he's very happy and isn't interested in listening to offers!

Benzo {Ed002's Note - Juventus are looking for a player to play off Llorente and have a short-list of three including Suarez.}

I was wondering could you name the other three ed? {Ed002's Note - Jovetic and Sanchez.}

Ed could jive thus really afford about 60 million for suarez though? I'd say he might go to Madrid if they sell ronaldo. Perhaps PSG or Anzhi could afford him too. {Ed002's Note - They have a significant amount put aside for the player - but not £60M.}

Would Fiorentina even consider selling Jovetic to Juventus after the Berbatov situation this summer? IIRC they released a statement blasting Berbatov and Juventus after the incident. {Ed002's Note - Jovetic is the least likely of teh three.}

Any truth in the rumour on SSN about sir Alex bidding for reina? {Ed002's Note - I don't know - it seems unlikely to me.}

Liverpool would not sell to Taggart.Would he sell to us noop.

Its all nonsense i can assure you

BigD

Another story from Manc TV (SSN), about them bidding on a player from a team their about to play. Embarrassing.

Goodars

Well just incase its true there bidding for reina then mr rodgers should turn round if he's asked about it an say this I wouldn't sell that club down the m62 a virus over my dead body

I'll make you famous

He has 2 good keepers. If he signed Reina it would just be to upset LFC, not because he needs him.

I posted this hours ago but anything I post never gets thru. {Ed001's Note - your posts are deleted because you are an imbecile posting ridiculous lies and pathetic jokes. Run along and go back to school, you are an embarrassment.}

Boom take that, i like Ed!!

Goober

Isn't that the usual talk about the others players before teams play each other

Don't sell to Ferguson on principle.Remember when he put the block on Heinze?

Puzzled

Let me think Ed002 or sly sports news? Ed002 may be a sarccy SOB but I'd take his word over Jim White any day of the week so there is nowt in it!

Hi Eds,

I read somewhere a while back that we were interested in Mauro Zarate and was just wondering weather it was just made up nonsence or a proper rumour. I personally like him as a footballer and always have.
your thoughts?

thanks, Colm Baston {Ed002's Note - Certainly a number of clubs have looked at Zarate in the past including Liverpool, Stoke, Spurs, Arsenal, Rubin Kazam, Spartak Moscow, Lille and Malaga. Certainly Lazio would like to be rid of the player would be willing to sell as he has neither settled nor performed well since his arrival. Given his less than good recent form he strikes me as an odd choice if there is current interest from Liverpool.

On the Sunday Supplement one of the journos stated that Tottenham could get Damaio for 15m. Seems a bit cheap to me? Are we interested?

WicklowRed {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter, Milan and Juventus. Lyon, Arsenal and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. The summer saw rejected bids from Spurs and PSG. Spurs, both Milan clubs, Roma or (much less likely) Juventus may force a move - and these remain the most viable destinations right now. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro which they obviously won't get anywhere near - and they don't want to sell. The player says wants to move to Chelsea but their interest would only be there if other targets were not achievable, but they have taken a look at him.}

I've been told spurs are close to tying up deals for both damiao and moutinho? the damiao deal would include heurelho gomes! also they are considering bringing in holtby this window for around £1.5m! ed I heard something! it could well be idle gossip? but alex song has not settled? his agent is now looking for a loan move? {Ed002's Note - I wasn't aware of that.}

Eds, do you know of any interest in Sampdoria's Mauro Icardi from any Premier League teams? {Ed002's Note - Not from Premier League clubs.}

07 Jan 2013 09:40:29
Liverpool are considering a bid for Wesley Schneider (dont know if spelt right) . is there any interest in shawcross, eds could you reply please {Ed002's Note - No, Shawcross has signed a new contract.}

Shawcross just signed new contract, I think it was for the WWF

Hi eds could you help, heard this morning that Chelsea have agreed terms with midfielder taison, but there is an unnamed prem team ready to battle it out with Chelsea for his signature. any idea who this could be? any chance it could be liverpool?
Thanks James {Ed002's Note - Aston Villa's interest seemed to have disappeared when it appeared issues associated with obtaining a work permit may be difficult to resolve. Perhaps that interest has returned. Bayer Leverkusen have also looked at Taison as a replacement for Schurrle.}

Are Chelsea also interested Ed002 or is this bad journalism linking them? {Ed002's Note - Taison was considered over the summer by Chelsea but I am not aware of any final agreement at this time - as has been suggested.}

Hi Eds, I am quite happy if the window begins and ends with Sturridge but do you know whether we have recently looked at Jason Puncheon? There has been controversy surrounding him but I think he has some serious potential.
Thanks in advance!
Germanred

Are you serious...

BigD

He has gone from strength to strength in the last year. Has proven to have what it takes for the Premier League. Fast, accurate. Also cannot imagine he´s that expensive. I think he would fit in well with our style of play and (shock horror) think he is a tad more of a realistic / viable option than the superstars everyone thinks we should be over-paying for.

I worked at Barnet FC and have stayed in contact Jason since he moved on to bigger and better things - the chances of him leaving the South East for a club where he would struggle to hold a first team spot are very very small, his entire life is focused here and while he's playing for Southampton in the Prem he'll stay there

Eds, is it worth me asking about any of the young Brazilian talents or are they all way out of our price range and current profile? Players like Damiao and Ganso.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter, Milan and Juventus. Lyon, Arsenal and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. The summer saw rejected bids from Spurs and PSG. Spurs, both Milan clubs, Roma or (much less likely) Juventus may force a move - and these remain the most viable destinations right now. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro which they obviously won't get anywhere near - and they don't want to sell. The player says wants to move to Chelsea but their interest would only be there if other targets were not achievable, but they have taken a look at him.

Ganso was to be allowed to leave Santos because they could not get sufficient sponsorship to cover the costs of both him and Neymar and he moved to Sao Paulo for a little under £7M.}

Hello Eds,
is it true we have bid for Davide Astori ? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of a bid from Liverpool - but if there has been I guess it would mean something more than Coates moving on.}

07 Jan 2013 01:29:55
hi eds was told today that br has asked to be kept informed about siem de jong for the summer maybe do you know if this is true or if iv been told wrong? personally am a big fan just can't see it happening {Ed002's Note - I don't know anything of it, but there remains a chance he will leave this month with two offers on the table already.}

No one probable ever heard of him until he played against Man Cty and scored a few now all of a sudden people want him, we should be looking at better players and more than likely he will stay where he is.

BigD

According to Silly Season Pages in England is Brendan Rodgers interested to bring in former Chelsea player Ricardo Quaresma on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old winger broke his contract a month ago with Turkish club Besiktas and is therefore available on a free transfer.

Quaresmas agent is said to have offered his client to Rodgers and he have started to think about it.

If its on a pay as you play deal then no problem as we would not be risking a huge amount.
Anything else, judging by his recent form and attitude would be a financial risk that if I was BR, I would not be willing to take....

Goals, experience, wide play, quality... good option from the bench for me

Why not spend that money on coutinho, belhanda or boudebouze?

All three quality and proven, what's to lose? Not rocket science or bank breaking deals, br needs to fix up! I mean, come on, what little we've seen of assaidi, the kid is quality! Better than Stuart I can't cross or dribble downing!
