Eds shed some light on the Sanchez deal.

We have been told in the press that Sanchez had opted for Arsenal and yet we are still in talks with him (via chris branscombe)

Also why hasn't the deal with Suarez been agreed?

I just think that there is a wait due to Sanchez as Barca would prefer a player plus cash deal

Believable13 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - Arsenal have agreed the fee and spoken to his reps. Juve couldn't agree a fee, but he was happy with the terms on offer. Now he is waiting to see what the deals on the table are for him and then he will make a decision. There are a number of options available to him, Man City are also keen.
As for Suarez, why does it have to be done the second we start negotiations? It is close, there were only ever minor details to quibble over, but those can take a long time to resolve. Just have patience.}

This whole Sanchez thing is doing my head in. I'm still hoping that some mysterious force is working in the background that will bring him to Anfield ;-)

Just a question based on your reply ed. Would you happen to know what Sanchez`s reps have told Arsenal? Because it sounds like a deal for him to go there is pretty much complete if a fee has been agreed and that personal terms have also been discussed. Unless he could be convinced by higher wages elsewhere? Is that the only hope we have? Many thanks if you could elaborate on his discussions with Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would not have been mentioned.}

Sorry Ed so do we actually have an offer on the table too that he is considering or are we out of picture completely?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

08 Jul 2014 08:27:48
Ed002 I understand when you say done to death but we are just reading through the lines and I am sure the two are linked. Something is stopping both deals going through and obviously no body really knows what's going on.

I will be patient as ed001 says it should all be clearer by Wednesday

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would have major financial problems if Suarez was not sold.}

Is it strange that Mourinho won't buy Markovic even though they could get him at a lower price than we will pay.
Always thought Mourinho was a good judge of talent but he has no interest in taking this guy

Believable3 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea were looking to take him next season when he they expect him to be ready. The agreement allowed Benfica to sell him and Chelsea will take a small profit from the deal.}

I am not surprised at all. I think Mourinho prefers more experienced players, ready made so to speak. BR likes to work with players with bags of potential and he is good enough to make them better. That suits the owners vision of the club - buy cheap and make them stars. And I like it, too!

Agree5 Disagree2

Buy Cheap?
I don't think paying 20 million plus for a youngster is buying cheap.

Agree1 Disagree0

Polishred £25m isn't buying cheap though is it?

Agree1 Disagree0

Just looked at him on youtube and he looked pretty sh#t and even rooney looks good on there

Agree1 Disagree1

Clearly not worth the money. why are we selling our best asset and not buying ballotelli!
Brendan can unleash the beast with sakho haha.

Agree0 Disagree5

Oh goodie, seems like we're already hounding out Markovic

Agree4 Disagree1

How is everyone slagging him off before he's even played a game for the club? He's 20 years old, raw but with a lot of talent and the potential to go far: give the lad a chance.

Agree3 Disagree0

Markovic looks class to me,not sure what the doubt is about. Have faith and get behind the whole team doesn't matter who is on the pitch. SUPPORT

Agree3 Disagree0

No, 20 mil is not cheap but this guy might be worth twice or three times as much under Rogder's wings in a few years time and then we all can say he was cheap. I was talking more about the general approach to transfers which is to buy players with potential who are likely to be cheaper then establish players.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not sure If I had understood the situation correctly.

So if Chelsea bid and we bid, how is it even possible that Markovic can't decide himself where he wants to go?

I am sure he would choose Liverpool as we would play a much bigger part here

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

07 Jul 2014 21:43:57
So they don't believe he's ready for the upcoming season, so do you Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have never gotten horny over soccer players.}

Mourinho sold Mata to accomodate Oscar who went off the boil the last third of the season. He also left Lukaku go out on loan when he was the best striker they had last season. They're two very obvious mistakes by Mourinho in terms of his judgement of players. And yes I know he considered Mata lazy compared to the younger and more energetic Oscar but Mata was their player of the season 2 years in a row for a reason.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ballotelli is worth £30 million at the most. If we play barca in the champs would you rather see lambert and sturridge or ballotelli and sturridge?

Agree3 Disagree0

LFC89: I think Balotelli would be a perfect signing, but a lot of fans dislike his attitude so much they consider him worse than Suarez. I love watching him -- yes, partly because he's volatile. Personally, I think he's the type of player who can play big games w/ no duress, and can score that one chance even if he's a dud for most of a game. Those players are worth their weight in gold when you're trying to mount a strong challenge across the board, and he also offers a much more strong attacking presence on corners/headers than Suarez (IMO). Then again, he's not exactly been PROLIFIC anywhere he's gone, while he does occasionally score in big games. He's still Italy's best striker, pretty youthful, and I think he'd be better in a team where he's the second option instead of the central focus in attack. I can imagine lower BPL teams suffering dealing with B and S in the last twenty minutes of a tied match.

All that said, I know the Eds rate him somewhat but wouldn't touch him with a stick where it concerns LFC, and I doubt Rodgers looks at a troublesome player as a replacement for Suarez. However, if he is really less than 28 million (per Silvia Berlusconi's comments), you're signing a big name young player at a seemingly lower rate and I doubt his wages are as high as Suarez's. Inzaghi seems to want a #9 as AC Milan's focus, someone like Mandzukic -- not at all what Balotelli is.

Eds,

-with luis suarez certainly going to Barca n if Sanchez not comingto us. do u see Liverpool putting bid for Alexandre Lacazette? would love him to replace suarez at lfc.

-is lfc still hopeful to complete deal for Dejan Lovren? heard soton will consider offer after finding his replacement.

-Is it true that lfc enquired about Moussa sissoko n Ryan Bertrand?

tqvm eds.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - (1) Slim chance. (2) I would think a deal can be done. (3) Not that I am aware. (4) Yes.}

07 Jul 2014 21:43:25
Ed002, is answer 3 for Sissoko and 4 for Bertrand?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

07 Jul 2014 15:03:01
Eds, do you think Liverpool will not sign Shaqiri now as it seems they're is more interest in Markovic now, or will we still be looking to sign both, do you know if Shaqiri has decided between Liverpool or Bayern? Thanks.

Believable15 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I am told Shaqiri is likely to stay put now, and Markovic is instead of him.}

No I would rather have shaqiri than markovic

Agree1 Disagree2

To all those comments regarding (Can) look at team performance with his former team am telling you now coup of the season strong, intelligent, good on the ball, defend, assists, and tall just what we needed well done BR

Agree9 Disagree1

And I rather Markovic than Shaqiri.

Agree4 Disagree3

Ed does that mean we are still after a "replacement" for Suarez. Honestly mate I'm a little bit down hearted about Sanchez, if we were to land him he completely changes the outlook of this window and I think we'd have an excellent squad. I guess El Shaarawy might not be a bad shout. Ed001 I know you never really like to speculate on players you'd like to arrive, but what's the latest on Sanchez? Is there any hope for us?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

Shaqiri less of a risk and more proven but i'm sure markovic will be good

Agree4 Disagree0

I rather both

Heard that Bologne are interested in Borini now that Sunderland seem to have backed off.

Is this rubbish?
Not from twitter btw heh.

Believable6 Unbelievable20

07 Jul 2014 16:41:41
If Sunderland cannot afford him, I don't see how Bologna can.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed008's Note - Bologna have just been relegated to Serie B have huge financial problems I very much doubt they could afford Borini let alone see him joining the club.

07 Jul 2014 14:23:32
Hi Eds,

Any news on Yedlin - RB from USA?

Thanks

Believable4 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was in talks with Roma.}

07 Jul 2014 13:51:16
Hi guys,

Haven't posted for a while but heard from a reliable source that we could be turning to Loic Remy to replace Suarez! Arsenal have dropped interest in him since they have agreed personal terms with Sanchez.

Expect Lovren, Origi and Markovic deals to also be concluded this week and that will be the end of our business in this window!

Believable8 Unbelievable85

07 Jul 2014 14:14:05
There will definitely be a LB signed too.

Agree6 Disagree0

No LB then? Shame.

Agree1 Disagree1

So the point of you post was to tell us of interest in Remy but we won't sign him because the deals you mention will be our last? Right. There'll be at least five more signings this summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nice replacement

Agree1 Disagree0

If that's the end of our summer transfer dealing bar selling Suarez then it's 'hello again mid-table mediocrity'

Agree0 Disagree0

If all that was true, I would suggest that is a poor window, nowhere near to fixing what was wrong last season, and even further away in replacing what we will lose this season, but probably a tidy profit for the shareholders

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2014 08:15:15
Ed002 u say Chelsea have first option on marcovic what is this how has it come about sorry if I may be being a little slow ha cheers

Believable12 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty certain I never said those words. Benfica only own 50% of the player. There is a consideration included in the player's contract that Chelsea may buy his rights at a fixed price if a club make an offer that is acceptable to Benfica. Chelsea can opt not to do this if they so wish and the entire rights to the player could be sold on.}

07 Jul 2014 11:34:17
If chelsea bid could our bid be accepted too or would ours have to be rejected?

Would it be the players choice which club he'd want to join or would it not be in his hands?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

Thanks ed how does this happen though was it through another deal that they had this clause ritten in? cheers

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - When he joined Benfica.}

Then, if Benfica want 25 M for their share of 50% of the player's rights, does this mean that Liverpool (for example) have to pay 50 M for the full player's rights?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - No.}

07 Jul 2014 00:14:48
Hi eds/reds

Obviously the big talking point at the moment is Luis to Barca, but do you know if we are in negotiations regarding any other players on their way out yet?

I know you've already discussed various players we are looking to move on this summer and we all pretty much have an idea of who's likely to leave. I just wondered if anyone was aware of any contact or offers?

Cheers for all your hard work!

Believable12 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Lucas from Napoli and Inter. There is interest in Skrtel from Gala.}
