Delph. No surely not. After sissokos performance in the euro's and allen going. pick him up. Rafa won't mind.

Championship player at best. Good work rate but very much overated.

Agree3 Disagree2

09 Jul 2016 07:23:36
Man city bought him as a sub because he's English not because he's particularly talented . They need to keep their quota up of homegrown players. He went there knowing he would be on the bench, wouldn't want nor is he remotely better than what we have.

Hi Ed's are we interested in Jakub Blazcowsky spelling not great, the polish winger from Dortmund?

Believable0 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of any more. We tried to sign him a few years ago, but I thought our interest died out after the move failed.}

Skrtle to fener is a done deal.

Skirtel the tirtle I always called him. Fair play to the lad, was brilliant with Agger at times (under benitez) and scored some great goals (like when we destoyed arsenal) Good luck to him. Thanks for your efforts.

08 Jul 2016 09:57:34
Fenerbahce. They decided that their defense looked too solid, calm and assured last season and want to spice things up a little to give their fans some heart-in-mouth moments. :)

Agree3 Disagree0

11 Jul 2016 11:08:52
Guess it depends on how they play. Skrtel's issue here was we had defenders trying to push the line up and away from our goal and he'd keep dropping off and allowing players space to get into behind the bulk of the defence. If they play a different defensive system he might fit into it.

So it looks like Jordan Ibe really is leaving for Bournemouth, and for the reported 15 million too. In all honesty I think this is a good deal all round. Ibe needs to play more regularly and I think Bournemouth might be a great place to ply his trade. Best of luck to the lad, I wish nothing but the best for him.

Also, before people starting jumping on the 'we need a replacement' 'we need a costly replacement now' bandwagon. I have to admit, i don't think it is entirely necessary. Ibe was on the fringes of the squad after all, not a regular starter under Klopp.

So, rather than spend money to replace Ibe. why not give Sheyi Ojo the chance to push for the position. The lad is young, already contributed with a number of assists last season and looks like he would be up to challenge for a place.

We don't always need to go out and sign players the moment one leaves. We have several capable youngsters who can step in, Branagan and Ojo are at the top of my personal list along with Stewart.

And for all those people who say they are not good enough. look at Harry Kane as a prime example, struggled on loan but has scored 20 plus goals in the last two seasons. All Kane needed was a chance, just one chance to prove his worth and he delivered big time. If he had not then I am sure Tottenham would be lugged with an expensive signing who didn't have the consistency to play at the top of his game, ala Soldado.

Just my thoughts guys, I do wonder how many of you actually share my opinion on this though. After all, we could use the 15 million in areas we need to improve, ala left back.

Anyway, I hope the EDs are having a pleasant day and that all us fans - Yes, even you Harry - are having one equally as good.

YNWA.

Good post. I am actually quite sad to see Ibe leave, because we all had high hopes for him, but it seems things did not work out - and he did get a chance last season, unlike many youths simply pushed into the fringes - so the deal seems good for all parties involved. Replacing him would be a bit silly, since we already got Mane in as a starter and Ojo looks like the better rated talent currently. Not to mention the Coric rumours, and Marcovic still being part of the club and perhaps getting a chance in pre-season.

Agree20 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 12:26:18
I agree, good post Mango. Let him go and we don't need to replace fringe players. Use our youth development, Klopp knows what he is doing. Ibe looked lost going forward for us, hope he does and wish him all the best.

Agree11 Disagree0

07 Jul 2016 12:27:43
Good post. Shame about Ibe, he will be making the right move and under Howe who knows how far he'll go?

Agree14 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 12:28:54
If it's true and we get 15mln for him then it's a good deal for all parties. He gets game time and a chance to develop, we get a very good sum for reinvestment into areas where we lack (LB) and we have capable junior replacements in Markovic and/ or Ojo that hopefully get a real chance to step up with proper game time.

Agree5 Disagree0

07 Jul 2016 12:37:27
Hope he rips it up at Bournemouth good luck to the lad, needs game time. and we need to spend the cash on Hector, I'm sure klopp will read this and think, good idea lad.

07 Jul 2016 12:47:22
Bid for hector soon then.

Agree3 Disagree6

07 Jul 2016 13:01:48
That's exactly why you play the kids. You either get a first team player or a nice transfer fee.

Always lock them into contracts because there is always someone to sell to.

Sometimes they won't sign which is fair dos bur tour hardly going to get burnt with first pro contracts.

Ibe moves on with all the best wishes, we get 15 mil for the coffers and we now out focus on another kid, maybe ojo. Give him a season and see how he does and a kid that age with potential regardless of form for us will fetch another ten mil next year easy peasy. Then move on to the next one until you find one that is good enough fir us.

If you want to keep them but don't want to have a hand in the development then sell then with buy back options. You won't make near enough money in but you won't get biten on the ass when said player becomes ballon sore winner haha

Good luck ibey lad. No hattricks against us though.

Agree7 Disagree6

07 Jul 2016 12:51:06
I sincerely hope we put in a buy-back clause if indeed he does leave the club this summer. He's still a young lad and learning his trade. Can't help thinking we're letting him go a little too early.

Agree11 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Why the sudden obsession with buy back clauses? I am not sure Liverpool can start to look to reduce their asking prices by doing such things.}

07 Jul 2016 13:14:59
Do we not already have a replacement for him in the form of Saido Mane'? This nets this deal back to circa £15m which is perhaps commercially more of what you would of expected.

Good luck Ibe, unfortunately just didn't live up to expectations!

Agree10 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 13:17:56
A buy back clause is not just something you put in there for fun or to look smart. You have to have a real plan behind it like Bayern for example, had with Lahm, Kroos, Alaba and Can (who we had to match his buy back fee to sign) . The sudden LFC fans` obsession with buy back clauses makes no sense, IMO.

Agree4 Disagree9

07 Jul 2016 13:19:39
There is no need for buy back clauses, if the lad becomes good enough we will spend the money to buy him back. As ed has said it would reduce the fee and we have sold him. What makes anyone think he would want to come back to us. Morata is a special case, forget about buy backs.
Best of luck to Ibe, he has potential but as has been said he looked completely lost any time he played last year. He had a decent spell under Rodgers but I'm not sure he has the game intelligence to use all the pace and power he possesses.

Agree3 Disagree5

07 Jul 2016 13:52:03
I think its the emergence of ojo that has pushed this deal through. It is clear neither ibe or ojo will be a starter this season, so there is only space for one on the bench in reality.
Ojo shows a lot of promise so ibe has been moved on to give him a chance.

Agree8 Disagree0

07 Jul 2016 14:06:21
I agree that it was time for Ibe to move on, and I think the fee is one that we can be happy with. £15m for a player who got his chance but failed to live up to expectation is fine with me. Good luck to the lad, but was time for him to move on.

I don't agree with the people saying we don't need to replace him though. Yes we got Mane, but Ibe was the only wide man we had. Mane can play out wide but he's not an out and out winger. We have a couple of good options up front and also in the "Creative Midfielder/ Number 10" roles but we don't have any pacey wide men.

Sure we have Ojo but I don't think we can expect a 19yr old to be the only option we have out wide. We need more pace and someone who can actually put a decent ball into the box.

Agree2 Disagree7

07 Jul 2016 14:46:29
Has he actually signed yet. just says fee agreed. don't run before you can walk.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 15:25:36
Did yous not know the buy-back clause is the new black?
Just because it's being talked about as part of the Canos sale now people want it included in every single deal.
Maybe Skrtel will have a 10/ 11 type season at Fener.
Quick! Insert a buy-back clause!

Really, 15mil is a great deal for such an unproven player. Ibe is all potential. Still, I'll be sorry to see him go. I could watch his goal against WB a thousand times. Always fun to watch 3 Pulis poles hit the deck like that. :)

Agree1 Disagree3

07 Jul 2016 16:00:27
im thinking this is the reason we signed Mane because the club was in talks to sell Ibe, it makes sense one in one out so as others have said there's no reason to go out and buy a player as imo we already have done, good luck to Jordan he will show what he is about its a pity he never got a run out with us because i'm sure his potential would have turned into talent, so good luck to him and Skertal i hope they do well in their new clubs.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 16:34:59
NorRed, you don`t replace fringe players with players that won`t play. That is senseless especially if you are trying to reduce a bloated squad like we have. We have options on the right (Mane, Milner and Lallana) so adding another player will make it 4 options and that is why we don`t need to replace him.

Agree3 Disagree2

07 Jul 2016 17:50:26
All the best to Ibe. Hope he develops and fulfills the early potential that he showed. Playing regularly will always help.

Cheers.

Don't forget Liverpool don't get 15mil for Ibe, they get just over 12mil as Wycomb get a percentage.

07 Jul 2016 23:20:20
Good luck to Ibe. He wasn't good enough and never will be. I wish him well for his future.

Agree1 Disagree2

08 Jul 2016 05:11:36
RedOhio, I agree you shouldn't replace fringe players with ones that don't play. I think he should be replaced with a better standard of player. What good is selling players and reducing the squad if all we are left with is the players we had last season. We need to improve, we should be aiming to finish top four and with the other teams competing for those places improving we need to as well, not just trimming the fat.

Klopp will improve players the players we already have but he can't turn Milner into Messi.

I don't agree with you that lallana is a wide player though. Sure he can play there but that's not his natural position and he still doesn't add any pace to the side (which I feel we lack, other than sturridge who do we have right now? ) I think he can do a job for us but he shouldn't be starting week in week out as a wide player. Mane I agree is an option but Milner shouldn't be in the starting lineup.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Jul 2016 12:19:01
£15m for a guy who is still unproven, a big gamble and the question appears to be ability to deliver on his potential is a very good return. I hope he does well because he seems a likeable lad and has potential but it also seems like he isn't going to move on more with us.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Jul 2016 15:13:23
NorRed, I agree with you completely on Milner and Lallana. I say in fact, I wouldn`t mind if they got sold because if they are not playing and should be on the bench as you say, their wages alone will count as what we call Dead money meaning, money that isn`t working for you. If the players on stupid wages aren`t playing regularly then they should be off the books and let another club deal with them.

Coutinho has switched agents to Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci. Their main goal is a transfer to CL clubs.

07 Jul 2016 11:38:18
Personally I wouldn't be to bothered if we got a great price for him. with that kind of money we could replace him with a more industrious hard working player I think his heart is set on a move anyway. Fiminho will come into his own imo.

Agree10 Disagree6

07 Jul 2016 12:33:36
We should do our best to hold onto our top players, obviously.

However, Klopp will be working with him everyday so he will know better than us where he's at and whether he's onboard. I will trust Klopp to make the correct call on this one either way.

Agree10 Disagree2

07 Jul 2016 13:14:42
We keep hearing that Klopp has final say when buying players, and I don't doubt that at all.

But what happens when selling players Eds? Would the board ever step in and say "Doesn't matter how much you want to keep him, this offer is too good, we're selling him"

Or does Klopp have final say on outgoings as well?

Cheers in advance.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't work like that.}

07 Jul 2016 13:20:27
Lucky, you are joking right? You never sell your best players and like it or not, Coutinho is one of our best players and selling him just like that, is sending the wrong message. You must do all you can to keep them. Look at Arsenal. They are now a selling club after years of the "no one is bigger than the club" nonsense and they are nowhere near winning the PL after getting huge fees for their best players. We should do all we can to keep Couts, end of.

Ed002, am I right in thinking that Kia Joorabchian isn't a licensed agent? What is the deal with that?

If someone offers over 60 m for coutihno, we would be foolish to say no. He is way overated imo, sell him he clearly thinks he's too good for liverpool so let him warm the bench in spain. Would like to see us buy payet with the money.

07 Jul 2016 19:46:08

I like Ibe, I just hope he can push and grow more as a player.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Jul 2016 11:25:59
Sorry folks but if there is any truth in that then I think we should snatch their hands off. We talk about potential a lot, and yes Ibe does have some, but how long do we want to wait before it comes to the fore? 2 seasons? 3 seasons? £15m is a lot of money for potential and at the minute we need proven players who can grab a first team place and change games - I haven't seen that from Ibe yet. If it's true then I wish him all the best, if not then I'll support him as a player for LFC as always!

Agree5 Disagree1
