Evening Eds and reds.

Have we shown any interest in Mateo Musacchio of Villarreal? 23, free agent in the summer.
I know we have an abundance of CB but with Coates off in the summer and rumours there may be other's leaving do you see there being a need for a young and versatile player coming in. Wouldn't cost the earth with a signing on fee and his wages would be viable.
Just a thought.

{Ed002's Note - Mateo Musacchio has attracted the attention of Fiorentina, Manchester City, Manchester United and AC Milan. He would be very expensive to buy and certainly won't be free in the summer.}

I always respect your knowledge Ed02 and thank you for your rely.
I have checked again and transfermarket have got him down as contract expiring 30.06.14.
Does that not mean all we have to do is agree a signing on fee with the player?
As he is 23 he would be available on a Bosman.
This is why I thought he would be free agent.

{Ed002's Note - I guess it is a case of who do you believe - me who says he is contracted to 2018 or "transfermarket" if they say it runs out in 2014? Are you going to choose between being naïve or being easily led? Maybe I am joking? Maybe I know nothing? Maybe I am Musacchio?}

If you say his contract is till 2018 that'll do for me!

hey eds, question heard rodrigo and andre gomes were sold to Meriton Capital Limited from Benfice? I only ask as both were linked with Liverpool. This company I am guessing has bought out their ownership? How does this work?

(sorry if this is obvious as its 1 am over here and brain not work so good after being at work all day).

cheers fella

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It is true that they have been sold to a third party. It is not out of the question they could end up at Valencia eventually. As for links to Liverpool, try the search engine.}

Hey ed, what does it actually mean when a player is sold to a company? With regards to what club they play for and how they are sold etc?

Thanks mate

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It means that they have what is called third party, which might be a group of investors, might be another club. A number of countries do not allow third party ownership, like England, and it can make transfers complicated. The registration of the player stays with the club - so the owners cannot force Benfica to sell Rodrigo, but they can control the asking price.}

greetings again, just red some thing about udinese striking a deal with a lad named rodrigo aguirre, could it be the same kid the saurez was raving liverpool to sign?

kind regards

Believable3 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Rodrigo Aguirre will be moving to Udinese but he would not get a work permit for the UK.}

Ed001 who do you think is the better tactician Brendan Rodgers or Rafa Benitez? Is the squad that we have now better than the 2005 CL winning squad?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of measuring who is better. The 2005 squad was probably less talented than the squad at this time.}

Different managers dude. Roberto di Matteo won the CL with Chelsea couple of years ago, but you wouldn't say he is a better manager than Mourinho would you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see a mixture of the two sides. Our current 'front three/four' up top, gerrard, masch and Alonso behind. Carragher in the prime of his career. Would be a great side. Traore too :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds fellow reds, to be fair to the question asked, you should compare today's squad to the team of 2009 because that's the only other squad pushing for top spot in the league .my preference would be today's team sourly because the way they play attacking football .

Agree1 Disagree0

"Traore too"?! . what about Harry Kewell? Surely you jest (I certainly do)

Apologies if you mistakenly used a colon instead of a semi-colon.

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah, I was joking. I must learn to use my colon correctly ;). And regarding the team of '09 surely you can't make a judgement on who's the better tactician by the style of play. I suppose it would be on points earned. But even then, that would only be relevant if every team had the exact same set up and players. Maybe they'll square off against each other in Europe next year. Like Ed02 said it's impossible to really judge. It's just a matter of opinion. I for one like any tactics that win games, but I especially like it when we win games 4-0 and 5-1. The 6-3s do slightly annoy me though

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea no disrespect to that squad but it was probably not as talented as this one. Djimi traore for crying out loud! Milan baros wasnt the greatest either

We had a solid center back pairing, a good midfield and captain fantastic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think Rodgers is the better tactician as he has demonstrated two things that rafa can/would not. Flexibility and an ability to admit when he is wrong. Key things for any top manager.

I guess we'll find out if we meet Napoli ;)

Eds, do you expect Guilherme Siqueira to join Benfica permanently? We had some interest in summer if I remember? If not is Bertrand expected to join Villa?

Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Granada's Guilherme Siqueira was subject to interest from Galatasaray, Fulham, Liverpool, Everton and Lille. Benfica now have Guilherme Siqueira for this year and were looking to take him on a permanent deal but Real Madrid will now take Siqueira as a replacement for Coentrao as they could not agree a deal for Moreno.}

Do you think he is likely to stay put in Sevilla after Real was rejected?

Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If someone pays the asking price he will move.}

If Madrid won't be signing Moreno do you think that might affect our interest and chances of signing him? What was the reason for them not being able to agree a deal?
Cheers mate

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The full release clause for Spanish clubs is being asked by Sevilla for Moreno and that has so far put off interest from a number of clubs including Real Madrid, Chelsea, Cardiff and Spurs. Manchester United may well be one of the clubs that has also had him looked at. Atletico Madrid remain interested.}

Hi Ed's, Erik Lamela was a name mentined a lot on here before he went to Spurs, now given that things haven't worked out for either spurs or him this season, do you see him staying there, or is he likely to become available again to provide funds for the next manager? probably impossible to say untill the new manager has a look at him, but I still think he could do well.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - he looks likely to move on, if a reasonable price can be got for him.}

He will stay, sorry ed!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect it will depend on the new manager.}

Hey Eds,
You think if Arsenal don't get into Champions League would we be interested in any of their players? I really like The Ox as a CM. Would any make the switch?

Believable5 Unbelievable17

{Ed001's Note - doubtful.}

I would have Ramsey all day.

Ynwa

Agree4 Disagree0

Why do you think they would leave? 1 season without champions league!? Even Suarez, who seems quite mercenary/ambitious as footballers go, has stayed with us for 2 years no champions league. I would like to think Arsenal players had more loyalty than jumping ship if they finish 5th. Would we even want players like that?

Quality wise, hell yeah! ;)
