Left-back Aly Cissokho has told the French media that he's agreed personal terms with Liverpool, but the Reds and his own club Valencia are still thrashing out details of his transfer. The 25-year-old, who has won one cap for his country, is quoted as saying to Le10Sport:

Liverpool came to me and it's true that I have agreed to join them. Now it's down to the clubs to decide a transfer deal. Liverpool want a loan, while Valencia prefer a permanent transfer.

Hi eds are there any teams interested in Romain Alessandrini? I seem to be fascinated with him and some of the goals he scores. He had 13 in 26 for Rennes also which is quality. Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Romain Alessandrini was subject to a bid from Marseille and it has been thaought that perhaps a bidwould come from Genoa. Marseille were hopeful that they can complete a deal although he has had injury concerns. Right now there is nothing going on with him.}

Just been in a bar in Alderley Edge and saw Didi Hamann in there.

Whilst I didn't pluck up the courage to go over and pester him. I did hear him outside talking to a friend saying a bid for LS from Madrid is imminent.

Dont know how reliable he is at all but just thought i'd pass on the message.

Cheers

Believable27 Unbelievable77

He was on LFC TV lst night saying we should enquire about Rooney. Must have been on the juice since then.

Agree6 Disagree0

Is didi connected to Madrid because I don't see how he would know this

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree Challo, as I say I am merely passing on what I overheard.

He will probably have meant that that is what he is expecting and I just caught the back end on the conversation

This is not as unbelievable as the repliers make it sound. Didi still has links with Liverpool, hence his time spent on LFC website after yesterdays game and so on. It is not unthinkable that he would know information, he doesn't need links to Madrid in the slightest, just to Liverpool.
A while back a friend of mine when to a sportsmans dinner where Jan Molby was the guest speaker, at this speech he told those in the room to put their mortgages on Roy Hodgson taking over at Liverpool. Needless to say it happened.
The 'inside' footballing world knows a lot more about the goings on, its like mates chatting at work about stuff they've heard from management, which happens in everyday working life. I know an up an coming player from a big Lancashire club that knows a fair bit about the goings on at his club well before it ever hits the papers, just not anything about other clubs.

ToonRed, any whispers, innnuendos or anything we hear, should always be passed on. It may not always end up being fact but at least you've let the rest of us know what you heard. Good on you

keep em coming!

Agree0 Disagree0

Didi is one of the least informed people around. He is often seen around frodsham/helsby etc too. He's always up for a chat with fans which is brilliant, but he knows no inside information most of it is opinion. If Madrid do put in a bid it's unsurprising given or the past 2 months they have been linked.

These are the posts that should be on this site, not the usual ask the Ed's fest its become but honest believable(ish) rumors. Good on ya amigo. Which pub?

Agree0 Disagree0

It was in The Bubble Room in Alderley Edge

I worked in a Pub in Formby where Howard Kendle was our 1st customer every day, he told me to put a bet on a young blue captaining England one day, put £5 on it for a laugh ( said in 10 years time) Won nearly £800 when Rooney led out the national team against san marino.

rumour has it that barca r going to offer 25m for agger I wonder eds and reds at what point do we give in, that's a lot of money for a player who gets injured a lot, I can see both sides of the argument for letting him go at that price but he is quality which we r lacking especially in that position, this is were the people who make these decisions really make their money.

Believable14 Unbelievable48

Hi Tommy,

Agree to an extent, but isn't it better to have a world class defender you can rely on that £25million in the bank? Also, Dagger had a pretty clear season last year injury wise. Hopefully he's over his issues now.

Same principle as Suarez vs Bale. If David Luiz is worth £35million.

Anyway, I for one would hate to lose Dagger. Should be the next Vice Captain in my view.

Eds. I've been on this site on and off for last 3/4 years and just registered. Good move to bring registrations in!

Cheers lads.

Red G

Agree8 Disagree0

I hope he stays, was injury free last season and he's still at a good age!

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd say it's up to Agger. If he wanted to go, then we try to get the best price we can and, unlike Suarez, we can part on great terms and if/when Barca ever come to town I'm sure he would be welcomed warmly.

If he wants to stay, then I'd certainly not push him out for any amount of money. He's earned that degree of loyalty from the club in return for the loyalty he's shown us.

Agree7 Disagree1

Selling agger would be the worst move ever . he's one of the last of the quality players left who has stuck by this club . why lose another quality player to replace with a gangly low quality defender . if we are really trying to push for top 4 places . hendo, Allen, downing, Coates, would not get in any team we are competing with . agger, Gerard, coutinho, johnson, sturridge sterling would be the only players that would get in top teams which is a stark reality of the reason we are not top 4 quality .

Agree4 Disagree1

We give in once we have signed a top quality replacement for LESS than £25 million. Always assuming that they will in fact pay that sum. {Ed002's Note - So you don't care which players arrive, as long as they are expensive. Who is it that you want in charge? A nice Qatari Sheikh like Al Thani? How about an amiable Russian banker like Vladimir Antonov?}

Agree0 Disagree3

Cant see him going, especially at this stage of the transfer window.

I could personally see him turning them down, and staying "loyal".

Agree4 Disagree0

Will say the same thing I said last year - if we sell Agger we are taking a giant leap backwards. He is a world class ball playing centre half and even if we are offered 25million I simply don't think there is a player out there at his level who is either available or would consider joining us. Suarez's exit we can handle, Suarez and Agger departing? Catastrophic: weakens the team, shows a lack of ambition and makes the chances of us qualifying for the Champions League about zero.

Agree4 Disagree0

P.s. football and specifically our football club isn't all about profit. Getting rid of large wage earners not in the first XI is a good idea, but just culling the squad is ridiculous- I don't want our club to turn into another Aston Villa.

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually Ed I do NOT want Agger to leave but I was replying to Tommy Irish Red's question of what point you sell a player. Any player and not just Agger. If the player wants to leave [ see Louis Suarez as an example ] and there comes a point where he is unsettled the duty of the club is to first attempt to get the player to stay but if that doesn't work your duty then is to get the best possible price for him and then sign a quality replacement. Indeed if we could secure a star defender cheaply or even free I'd be delighted but there doesn't seem to be many star class players going for little or nothing lately. As for the 2 foreign gentlemen you mention I know next to nothing about them and have no wish for them to be involved with Liverpool FC. {Ed002's Note - You are forgiven.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Qatari, Russian or Saudi, if they sign players like City and the Chavs have got, why not? We can sign "hopefuls" but most of the posters on here are right, we need to hang on to our top players and add a few more of the same quality. At present we are the best of the mid-table teams, I appreciate what BR is trying to build but FSG must back him by not selling our best players. Any more years in the doldrums and we will no longer be an international brand and our big sponsors will not be happy with that.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Aug 2013 22:17:58
Have a look at the situation Anzhi are in at this moment in time Redbart.
That is why you want responsible owners

Agree0 Disagree0

You cannot buy loyalty like Daggers. If he wishes to stay I hope the club turn down the big bucks and make a massive show of his loyalty starting with the vice captaincy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats one team, Alvy. Take a look at what position Chelsea are in and what position they and City will be in come May. All I am saying is that if we want to keep the global support and sponsorship and all the income that comes with it, we need to do a lot better than mid table. I thought one rule of business was to speculate to accumulate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Or Malaga.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2013 08:08:05
I'm sure it pains all of us fans to see the positions we've been in the past few years? Ultimately, the club appear to be doing what is right for the long term stability of the club.
Its no good just throwing millions at a team as there is no guarantees of success. Yeah Chelsea and Man City have had a go at that but not won everything every year have they? Look at City's Champions League exploits?
I hate to say this but look at the model! Ground redevelopment over a number of years to increase capacity and revenue, youth team bla bla boa!
This is the way to go. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. We don't want here today gone tomorrow!
Lighty Square Man.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Liverpool could either sell or keep him. For £25 million I'm sure there are a few more than capable replacements. I don't think he had a particularly great season last season when he played, caught napping at set pieces, shrugged off the ball easily etc. I hope if he stays his season improves to his previous form shown.

It's also pretty well known in circles he doesn't get injured but has to miss matches due to other reasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2013 13:25:58
Definitely have to look at the money Skrtel is a classic example apparently City were willing to part with 20 million pounds for him.
A season on Liverpool would be lucky to get 8 million and have suffered from his poor form last season.

Any chance we could go in for Michu, I've heard a couple of rumours that we might be interested.

Believable18 Unbelievable51

They would never sell, not unless someone is willing to pay way over the odds {Ed002's Note - Michu has a price.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Said it b4 when I said mignolet would come, michu is a target 4 sure and would be perfect Suarez replacement not in a direct way but what the team needs and ten go get another out and out striker to rotate with Sturridge
Daniellambretta

Agree4 Disagree0

I can't see him wanting to leave . Swansea play some really nice football . and if they get back there 1st season home form should be competing for a top 6 finish also they have european games so pos an exciting season for them. but it goes to show great bargain goalscorers can be found and I believe Aspas could be one

Agree2 Disagree0

Looks extremely frustrated for Swansea tonight much like Suarez for us in pre season games, definitely think this would be a better signing for that position behind the striker than that of Eriksen (although Eriksen is young potential etc) we need for now and next season, would be a perfect window for me if we could get lb cover, cb if Skrtel leaves, Michu and Costa but I think that is far too much to ask for in one window

Agree0 Disagree1

Eds do you feel if an offer was made michu would consider LFC, he has european football at swans. {Ed002's Note - No idea.}

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2013 09:46:34
I agree Ed02 he has a price but I still think it would be well over the top for a fairly unproven striker. I personally rate him highly but I do not think Swansea would let him go for less then £25 million or near abouts and that is quite steep

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, Anything on Viktor Fischer? {Ed002's Note - Viktor Fischer is subject to interest from Milan, Manchester United, Manchester City, Roma and Werder Bremen. Ajax is negotiating a new contract with him and I would not expect a move in the summer.}

Believable2 Unbelievable19

08 Aug 2013 11:39:19
Hi Ed's. Do you think we will have interest in Scott Sinclair? And surely a better option than Diego Capel. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Believable4 Unbelievable50

Too bad, could have been a good signing to play on the wing. Probably wouldn't have been too expensive either.

Agree0 Disagree4

Neither of them would be worth signing they're not going to take us up a level

Agree3 Disagree0

VR46, are you having a laugh? Where is your ambition, I understand we can't attract the likes of silva or nasri but Scott Sinclair? why would Liverpool FC want a below average winger, he didn't flop at man city he was just clearly no where near on that level of football, BR has said he wants champions league football, scott sinclair couldn't lace the boots of a champions league class player. on another note eds is ben arfa and costa no longer targets / available? {Ed001's Note - Ben Arfa? Oh come on, you can't slag someone off for not wanting average players then suggest someone who only bothers turning up once a season!}

Agree4 Disagree2

08 Aug 2013 16:23:40
the difference is ed01, if you have got ben arfa in a side that plays good football and gets him on the ball he has that class and spark to create something, and him, coutinho and aspas inter changing would be brutal, the only thing scott sinclair had going for him was hanging of his arm, his tecnical ability is very poor and he's exactly the same type of player as ibe and sterling, at least ben arfa offers you that different avenue and that added class.

Agree2 Disagree3

08 Aug 2013 11:18:50
Hi Eds,

So far you guys have been pretty spot on (Ed02 especially) about Suarez's endgame. My question to you is the following: is the club ready for life after Suarez or are they just now scrambling to find replacements? I have tried to guess as to who could come in and be a reliable forward and can't seem to come up with names. I don't believe Costa will ever sign and there are no other names out there as far as forwards we are linked with. Aspas, Sturridge and Borini can keep us afloat for a while; but once Luis leaves, we'll be thin up front. If ever Sturridge and/or Borini were to get hurt, we'd be worse off than last year. I remain positive, but it looks as if things are starting to go sideways.

{Ed002's Note - The interest in Costa was genuine and we know that Liverpool has looked at wide players (an enquiry about a loan of Capel for example). Dare I say Tom Ince is still available? Right now, I would think that Rodgers and the scouting staff might be turning my attention to the centre back situation.}

Believable15 Unbelievable5

Hey ed - there WAS interest in Costa? Have I missed anything, I thought this deal was still a distinct possiblity?

Drigan {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get into discussing semantics but if Liverpool want to keep pushing for Costa they need to put a significant offer on the table and perhaps Atletico Madrid will talk - that has not happened.}

Agree2 Disagree0

How do you see the CB situation turning out ed? At one point it looked like Skrtel was off to Napoli or Zent but there were reports yesterday saying with Barca's bid for Agger, Skrtel has been told he may have to stay. Would papadopoulos come back into Rodgers thinking maybe?

Cheers! {Ed002's Note - There should be no shock in the interest of Barcelona. I have previously explained what Csonto had said. The worst case scenario is that Agger, Skrtel and Coates all leave. Liverpool will not want to sell Agger but would be willing to let the other two go. I have explained that no offer has been made for Papadopoulos but Liverpool could renew interest. Whether a transfer is still viable I don't know.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers for the reply

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a great fan of Tom Ince myself, hope we don, t go that way.Sadly there are very few top class forwards left available.Only time will tell.

CR

Agree1 Disagree0

I watched a lot of Ince last season on TV and saw him in cup action earlier in the week. If his ability was equal to his self assessed rating he'd be world class. His newspaper article in which he ruled a move to Cardiff out because he considered the Welsh team were not good enough for a player of his talents was frankly insulting to that team. If he's waiting for a queue of EPL clubs to bid against each other for him he'll be spending a lot of time at Blackpool. Unless Dad Paul his manager desperately needs money soon and sells him to the next bidder.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2013 10:57:27
So Bernard signs for S D another one bites the dust {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were scouting early in 2012, but that was pre-Rodgers. Since then the club has shown no interest so this is nothing to do with Liverpool at all.}

Believable7 Unbelievable16

It seems every player that gets sold to another club then somebody comes and posts here that we've missed out on another superstar. In the last couple of years I've read that we missed out on greats like Connor Wickham, Chamakh, Adam Johnson, and Charles Nzogbia to mention but 4. I haven't heard any shouts for us to go after them this season from anybody.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2013 10:44:29
Eds, Any truth in the report from SportsDirect that Man City are going to bid £50m for Suarez?

Probably nonsense, but I'd prefer that to Arsenal {Ed002's Note - Do not be surprised to see a bid from Manchester City or other clubs. It is not out of the question that Manchester City could still see two forwards leave and two more come in this summer.}

Believable20 Unbelievable12

Would the two be Dzeko and Aguero Ed? Obviously Aguero wouldn't be an option but what abou Dzeko? Wouldn't certainly give us something different. {Ed002's Note - I was not intending to suggest that either would move to Liverpool, but they are the players who could still leave - and hence the interest in the likes of Suarez and Willian.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Who Ed Aguero and Dzeko? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Is one of those aguero ed? I think I read of interest from R.Madrid.

I would take city having Suarez over anyone really. That way a team that is nailed on for top 4 have him instead of Arsenal. Plus we still get to witness the roller coaster that is Luis bloody Suarez each week and let's face it, he will score goals which will help city win the league over utd.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks for both replies Ed, appreciated.

Agree1 Disagree0

Which clubs are jnterested in Aguero Ed? {Ed002's Note - Try the Manchester City page Mikey.}

Agree1 Disagree0

£35mil and aguero, would do me perfectly {Ed002's Note - That is not going to happen.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Just glad I never had aguero in my dream team now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't mind flogging him to City. I know player swap deals aren't common but If Micah Richards and Javi Garcia were included I'd take it.

Hi eds! Newly reg swede here! Love the site. With all that goes on with Suarez and his almost certain departure, and with anzhi selling their big names, would Willian be an option? Have Liverpool shown any kind of interest in him before he joined anzhi? Thanks! {Ed002's Note - Welcome. Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Juventus all showed an interest in Willian in teh past couple of years. Chelsea backed off from buying the player in 2012 as Shakhtar were looking for 35M euros - the same figure that scared off Spurs in the previous summer. Willian's situation is that he is available but Anzhi are looking for 35M euros plus for the player. At the moment there is interest from three clubs that I am aware of - Manchester City and Roma (who have both spoken with Anzhi), and Spurs who I am told will be looking to make an offer. Liverpool has not shown any interest in the player.}

Believable4 Unbelievable8

Would either City or Roma's interest be dependent on players leaving at all? E.g. Silva or Lamela? {Ed002's Note - Right now Silva is staying but Manchester City are still looking to Willian. Roma are concerned about losing Lamela and are working on a new deal for him.}

I think Psg will come in with a bid for Suarez to pair him up with his pal Cavani. Ibrahimovic may be moved on as he is not compatible with Cavani. {Ed002's Note - Please remember to register.}

Real shame, he is the most suited available replacement for Suarez there is in my opinion and younger too.

Good Morning ED001 & 2 hope everybody is well today?

Well I don't know about anybody else but I'm pretty excited about this season! I watched the game yesterday and we are looking exciting! we have a lot of top class talent in the squad.

Id of never of believed that Rodgers would bring in top quality and he's doing just that, as well as improving others who needed to be improved. along with bringing the youth through the ranks, Ibe looked special I think Ibe, Coutinho & Aspas will unleash hell this season!

Eds obviously we need a couple more in before the end of the window, my question is, are we relying on the LS money before we make any more further moves? It just seems to be dragging out a bit long, I guess its probably me been impatient.

Have a great day to all! {Ed002's Note - The club is making the efforts necessary to bring players in and I expect the deal for Cissokho will be tied up in the coming days. The window is still open for several more weeks. I would not get tied up in thoughts about the money and I am sure there will be a few twists and turns yet.}

yeah the squad looks better than last season except for r best player throwing his dummy out of his pram, ok you can only beat what's put in front of you and get your fitness up celtic will be a better test and hopefully the team in that game will be more r less the team that starts against stoke.c"mon the reds

Agree2 Disagree0

Does the transfer window end on 2nd Sept this year? Isn't it usually Aug 31st? {Ed002's Note - It always ends on a work day.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks #2 that's enough for me!

Agree1 Disagree0

Nice positive post! I agree, I think we've brought in some quality players and we look very stong going forward now. Coutinho is a magician and i'm guessing he'll be up there amongst the best next season. I never thought i'd hear myself say this, but i'm not really bothered about our whinging number 7 anymore. We will be a great "team"moving forward and I think Rodgers should take great credit for building that. I'm sure there will be one or two more in/out but if the season started tomorrow i'd be happy with what we've got. can't wait for the 17th August now.

Agree1 Disagree1

Totally agree.
The team looks so comfortable with the BR's system & without (Buck Teeth) playing we are looking good & still netting, which is a BIG plus.
Really do hope for just a couple more QUALITY players coming in though?
Great job so far BR.

Eds,

Can you confirm interest in Capel is genuine because I really don't rate him. i'd rather keep downing (if the rumours of him going are true)
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Marseille, Swansea and Braga have shown an interest Diego Capel who will be available after what has been a pretty torid time this season. Liverpool enquired after his availability on loan. His agent has been instructed by Sporting to find him a new club with an asking price in the region of €6M. His agent has spoken with a number of clubs in England, including Spurs, Swansea, Liverpool, West Ham and Sunderland. Right now Marseille are looking at making another bid for Capel; and this bid is imminent - today or tomorrow.}

Hi eds, great site, even better now all registered!

Do you expect us to reject the bid for Agger? He's always been loyal but Barca is a difficult move to turn down! how do u seeing this play out? We'd be in big trouble if he left in my opinion! More important to our side than Suarez!

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I expect Agger to reject a move to be honest.}

Believable33 Unbelievable3

Hope you're correct, Ed001, and if so, then I think I may have to place Agger near the top of my 'most loyal players' list. To reject big money Monaco and Barca in the same window is almost unbelievable.

Agree5 Disagree0

Agreed, and I guarantee that in a years time he won't tell the world how re rejected a 'big club' - unlike some.

Agree3 Disagree0

Agger almost left Liverpool some years ago. He had an offer from Barca while Hodgson was a manager.
Agger loves Liverpool and I honestly think he will stay. But Agger is not getting younger and I know that a move to Barca is hard to turn down.

Agree2 Disagree0

Balague has stated this morning that Agger wants the move to Barca and its up to whether they want to press for Luiz or Agger. If Agger goes I have no faith in the club at all.

Agree2 Disagree1

Alex4, why? If he goes it will be because he wants to go there is no way he'll be forced out. We may accept an offer but that would then be put to him to decide without any pressure where as players like Skrtel if we accepted an offer we'd probably tell him he'd be better off moving to get games somewhere else.

The story about Suarez is just that he as been made to train away from the first team squad. Good to see the club stand up for itself.

Eds, any truth to the rumours circulating about Barca having bid for Agger and Real having been in contact over Suarez? {Ed001's Note - they have asked about Agger, it is not really a bid as such. I would expect further talks to be held over the next few days, but I am of the opinion that we don't want to sell and he doesn't want to leave. Real have been keeping a watchful eye, but I don't know of any fresh contact being made.}

Believable17 Unbelievable2

I really hope LFC just tell them he is NOT FOR SALE. Would be suicidal to let him leave. All we need to do in defence is replace Skrtel with Papadopoulos and get in Aly Cissokho. But to get in another defender in such short time is near impossible.
