Macca, who do you think will take over from Dalglish in the summer, or do you see him staying on longer?
Also, ed who would you like to see taking over from the King?
Cheers
Ellis T

{Editor Note: My first three choices to take over from Kenny would Coyle, Deschamps or Quique Sanchez Flores. I would find it hard to choose out of the three though.}

Daglish to get rush as his number 2.
Bring in 3 signings in this transfer window
Negredo 17m€
Santon 9m€
turan (undisclosed fee)

Babel will be possibly leaving January or summer depending on what Kenny wants to do with him.
Few teams interested in him hoffenhaim have made it formal by making an offer tho depends on what plans the king has for him for the Future

Wa u think Ed this will happen.

Oh and to the person hu said paco lives in ho ylake stop chatting, he's back over in Valencia an was back with them last season he's not in hoylake for deffinate! !

{Editor Note: I don't know what will happen but I hope to see atleast two quality players signed.}

Ed it's pretty obvious we need a left back, left wing, defensive midfielder and a striker. My question to your worldly knowledge is . Who would you like to see brought into these areas and why?

{Editor Note: I think atleast one winger has to be a priority. Our lack of width is evident. We could do with another defender and a striker then in the Summer address other positions.}

{Editor Note: Arda Turan would come. He's openly admitted his dream is to play for Liverpool. I know we want Santon but I can't see Llorente or Banega coming.}

So what's up with santon, have we made contact and we're waiting for a reply? Or have we put in a bid? He's got potential to become one of the best fullbacks in the world.

Lfc_ynwa

{Editor Note: I've just been told that we are definatly interested in signing Santon although that's as far as I know. But there are other clubs interested - nothing we can't compete with. His agent claims he's holding talks with certain clubs next week. That's all I know but if we do make our interest genuine we have a great chance of getting him.}

If NESV are serious about bringing in quality young players then whats the hold up?? Dzeko's gone to Man-City already, Hazard lookin like he's going to Arsenal. . Players are available and still Liverpool wait til we're left with the sub-standard players to choose from. . So frustrating when it comes to the transfer window, lets just get the quality players in now, we need to build a better squad NOW, the later we leave it the worse our season is gonna get, the players we have now won't get us out of the mess they've created.

Rocky

{Editor Note: I'm sure they're working on getting players in. January is a difficult market to buy in so like Henry said, the main spending will be done in the Summer.}

RE:
Ed>>> what do you think our chances are of landing these two in this window?? {ed's note - Honda is ours if we want him. Elia wants to go to United and pretty much ruled out a move to Liverpool, thankfully. He offers very little that I can see in terms of end product, lots of pace but not a lot else.}
(3) (0)

Ed I'd say Turan is ours if we want him as well? The talk around Santon seems positive, and Llorente I'm sure would be keen on linking up with Nando. If you add Banega who'd jump at the chance to leave Valencia, and even Taiwo, who wouldn't be difficult to get then we have not only some amazing singings but very realistic one's as well. Obviously we'll have to wait and see who was actually being looked at, but I think we have reason to be excited for the first time in awhile. .

Shrewd move indeed by our new custodians. If he succeeds they will have no need to replace him; if he doesn't, regardless of what we think of the next appointment we can never sing for him to return again.

Come on King Kenny. We love you, you are Liverpool and you have unfinished business. Let's get moving up the table and beat Utd at Anfield this season (Premiership). Let Arsenal, Chelsea or City win it this year and we can get number 19 before Fergie under our number one legend.

(My only fear, if it doesn't work, how long do we give him? Or do we accept relegation rather than chant for our true living legend to be sacked?)

Michael Duvall

(Oh, and isn't Kenny a big fan of Turan?)

All these rumours with regards to transfers is a nonsense, We will make 2 possibly 3 signings max this window. Turan
is a must,
We will get better and better under Kenny as the season contnues. I still believe we can get top 4.

Thank god Hodgson has gone, hopefully Daglish can give the likes of kelly a chance and bring in some fresh faces. Realistically, I think 2 players will be bought in. I'm not too sure what Daglish has in mind but it could possibly be Turan and Benega

Question for Ed

In your opinion do think Torres wants out? Do you expect him to leave in the summer as we will be lucky to be in Europa league.

For all the attitude he has shown of late I still really like Nando would love him just to be straight say he wants home to Spain or say I love LFC and will be here through good and bad 100% committed.

Whats your view Ed?

DONT BUY THE SUN

{Editor Note: Torres loves Liverpool and his family are really settled here. He wants to win trophies in his career but he would rather they were with Liverpool. There were a few things in recent times which have caused his grievances. I think we need to improve our form and get his confidence back, added to some quality signings.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 22:29:54
Question for the Ed. . Do u think with Dalglish in charge we might get Arda Turan??

{Editor Note: It is known that Dalglish was keen for Hodgson to move for him in the Summer but Hodgson decided against it. Maybe Kenny will try and sign him, who knows. But its clear we need a winger.}

Another player lost

It has been revealed this evening that the Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is getting a late Christmas present from the Tottenham owner Daniel Levy as a reward for taking Tottenham to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Goal.com reveals tonight that Redknapp refused to buy the Ajax striker Luis Suarez from Ajax last summer when he was quoted 25m euros to prise him away from the Dutch giants, but now they are anxious for him to leave Holland after he was given a ban for biting an opponent and are now willing to accept 20m euros.

Liverpool had also expressed an interest in Suarez, but with the upheaval at Anfield, Redknapp is hoping that he can get a clear rum at his top target and is expected to make an official bid in the next few days. With Kenny Dalglish back in charge at Anfield it remains to be seen if John Henry is willing to back him in the transfer market or just let him pull Liverpool out of relegation danger with the current players and strengthen the team next summer.

Goal has also spoken to a Tottenham source who has revealed: “Harry wants someone who can play up front alone and now thinks Suarez can do it, ” a Tottenham source told Goal.com UK. “He is really quick, can score goals, hold the ball up, work hard, be busy and link up and play one-twos with Rafael Van der Vaart, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. He is very aggressive and similar in many ways to Tevez.”

Redknapp is certain that a deal will be concluded for Robbie Keane in the next few days to help towards the cost of bringing Suarez to White Hart Lane.

{Editor Note: Goal.com creates "exclusive" stories and claims to have sources who tell them these things. I don't recall many of their stories being true if any. I remember them saying that Joe Cole had signed a 3-year-deal with Arsenal only for him to join Liverpool weeks later.}

Now listen u people, in my book there can only be one person who can wear no 7 and that player is from Germany. He has been dubbed "the german Messi" and i think if we have him, we can be so great. His name? ?. . . .

MARKO MARIN, yes i know abit awkward, but come to think of it, this kid has potential, only 2 yrs older than Hazard of Lille, but boy does he carry a right foot and a half. plus he makes the runs.

Also if we can get Honda, we will bcome unchallengeable in midfield, bcoz Honda can play ANYWHERE in defence, at VVV-Venlo, he played at defensive midfield, at CSKA, he plays as a second striker, centre midfield and left midfield and can even play left back. So we get him.

Unsure how good his English is or even how long he has left on his current contract.

Danny Kelly is a narcissistic c@ck mate, he likes to have his opinion but can't bear it that someone else has got one and may well be right, the guy is a tool - pinch of salt with this i think. Ive been told liverpool have looked at balazs dzsudzsak form PSV for a while now and have liked what they saw!

{ED?}What are ur thoughts on that?

{Editor Note: Our scouts have been spotted in Holland watching both PSV and Ajax. For what players, we can only guess. As for the one you mentioned, he seems a pretty good player with pace.}

apparently they went to watch a few Affelay, toivonen, Emmanualson, Van der weil, the for mentioned, Suarez, Vertonghen.
On Dzsudzsak, he is having a great year scoring 16 in 28 playing as a left winger. He would be exactly what liverpool need atm, natural width, fast, strong, great shot, great cross and work effort! for me a perfect LW signing at only just 24! also he said he be happy to leave PSV to go to La Liga so maybe Liverpool!

Id love liverpool to sign Dzsudzsak, Vertonghen and Suarez! but they are playing in a poor everdise!

i posted about 2 weeks or so ago that i had a psv representitive on my flight to liverpool. he was over to discuss a possible player transfer although he wouldn't tell me what one. :(

{ed's note - I wouldn't touch Adebayor or Rocky and Bullwinkle myself, neither are good enough in my opinion. I would go for Llorente personally, Negredo from your list though.}

I think Llorente might be going to real madrid. Real are defiantly interested and I'd imagine he'll join in the summer. I am 98% sure he'll move, jm rates him highly and they need a striker. Llorente agent has also said there's been contact

Whose your second choice striker Ed? Mine would be Suarez if in our price range (if we wanna win then yes).

Lfc_ynwa {ed's note - I do agree Llorente is likely to join Real Madrid, but he is interested in joining us by all accounts. Not everybody in Spain wants to play for Real Madrid out of choice! Second choice would probably be Negredo I guess, I really can't think of anyone other than Llorente who stands out for me off the top of my head.}

Kenny should definitely try to bring Alonso back. This is a quote from the LFC website
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is only my opinion but, although Alonso is and was a fantastic player, I would like to see liverpool move forward, not backwards. Yes proven talent is great but i think the future of the club is in the development of young talent, be it English or otherwise. We are all looking for a quick fix here but the bigger picture is so much more important to the longevity of our loved club.
I would like to see our academy land a huge influx of funds and see the scouts concentrating more in this area.
As for the now, well i think Keisuke Honda would be a fantastic addition and would fit in the team quite well, he has pace and a cracking left foot(NEW FREE KICK TAKER MAYBE)
The only other decent player that i think we have a chance at this month is
Eljero Elia, So much pace down the left its unreal, great feet and a great awareness of players around him, i think his speed is blistering, have a look at him on youtube.
Ed>>> what do you think our chances are of landing these two in this window? ? {ed's note - Honda is ours if we want him. Elia wants to go to United and pretty much ruled out a move to Liverpool, thankfully. He offers very little that I can see in terms of end product, lots of pace but not a lot else.}

Liverpools targets are banega (kk really rates him and thinks he will free up gerro and mireles) also mata was rated highly by kk but comoli has to approve. Maybe a double deal with 15 m + babel. Adam Johnson also kk priority target with city willing to accept 4m + kuyt. Ed wat do u think of our chances? And if you could have one signing who wud it be (realistically).ynwa red. {ed's note - why would City want Kuyt? Not a chance of that happening in my opinion.}

Kenny was a striker so, its is near enough certain he will want a main partner for Fernando Torres. The striking department is very thin with only Torres, Ngog, Babel and Ecclestone. This is Babels chance though new manager and a new start. I just hope he can reach his potential because on his day he is a fantastic player.

Striking Candidates :
Gervinho - 12mil
Haraou - 10mil
Negredo - 17mil
Adebyour - Loan
L.Traore - 10mil
R.V.Wolfswinkel - 10mil
Suarez - 22mil
(which one would you have ed and is there anyone else you would add to that list?)

LfC Vllaznia(:>) {ed's note - I wouldn't touch Adebayor or Rocky and Bullwinkle myself, neither are good enough in my opinion. I would go for Llorente personally, Negredo from your list though.}

The UAE (Dubai) and Qatar are next to each other. Qatar is a very small country and some maybe be using Dubai as a base. It's about 40 mins on a flight. I would imagine hotels in Qatar are very busy at the moment with the Asia cup so actually it's not a bad shout!

Evening Gents, Kenny back, which is a step in the right direction, would love to see Phil T as his no 2, his passion for the great LFC is second to none (Do you think there is any chance Ed? )

Jim (actually smiled today) {ed's note - like the King himself, Thommo would walk through brick walls to work for the club again, he loves Liverpool with a passion. It's amazing what a fresh start can do to a club. Kenny Dalglish has instantly installed confidence and a buzz around the club.
His record is very impressive as a player and a manager. Players look up to him and those who snigger will only do so because he is bigger than any player.
My question for you Ed is . Should Dalglish get us to a top 4 finish this season ( highly unlikely but very much still possible), would the board extend his contract and also maybe give him more power?

{editor: Who knows? All I am sure of is that he has a contract until the end of the season, only John Henry and Tom Werner know if they plan to keep him in charge after this season.}

Sure, but he is left footed and plays front left for club and country. So would make sense to me.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This is simply not true, he plays on the right for Lille. Their front 3 is LF-Hazard, CF-Sow, RF-Gervinho. The fact that he is leftfooted means he should play on the right in a 4-3-3 because he is much more of a striker than a winger. You want his stronger foot to be inside because it makes him more dangerous scoring goals.

{Editor's Note: As I said, Gervinho can play pretty much any attacking role asked of him.}

All the people making their rumors about buying and buying players. Someone looked at our squad yesterday and showed the quality we have in terms of internationals and first choices for the country. Only problem was bad tactics and wrong positions.

- - - - - - - - - - - REINA- - - - - - - - - - - -
KELLY- AGGER- SKRTEL/ CARRA- -AURELIO/ WILSON-
- - - - LUCAS- - - - -MEIRELES/ SPEARING- - - -
JOHNSON/ KUYT-GERRARD/ SHELVEY-COLE/ JOVA/ MAXI
- - - - - -TORRES/ N'gog/ PACHECO/ BABEL- - - - -

Ed, do we need any one beyond this, maybe someone to play alongside Meireles like Mascha as Meireles is someone who wants to play upfront a lot. This gives us a good bench, youth and width. If I ask a winger to play striker, he won't score. Jovanovic may not be quick enough for EPL but has skills and good crosses which is what a winger is supposed to do. I would only go for a right wing and attitude to win in players and play for the shirt.

{editor: I think that with a few signings we could have a good squad. I don't think we need another Mascherano type player, would be pointless in my opinion.}

Swap Kuyt for Van Wolfswinkel. He will take over when Nando leaves in a year or 2.

And we need Suarez, the guy is a goal machine!

Kuyt, Babel, Jovanovic & Ngog to move on. Torres & Suarez will terrorise defenses! Van Wolfswinkel as backup. Thoughs ED?

Liverpool have identified Alvaro Negredo as their number one summer target if striker Fernando Torres follows through on his ‘quit warning', according to Goal.com.

25-year-old striker Negredo has been linked with a move to the Barclays Premier League with Hull City before when finalising his exit from Real Madrid but Sevilla swooped to sign him for €15 million.

Back in 2009, Negredo revealed his desire to play for Liverpool and partner Fernando Torres – but now it looks like he will have to shoulder El Nino's goalscoring burden and lead the line at Anfield.

"To play next to Fernando Torres at Anfield is a dream and any player would accept that, " he told Sky Sports.

"But I prefer to talk about reality and I have not spoken with Rafa Benitez, but I do know that some contact exists between the clubs.

“It is logical that I am interested in playing in the Premier League and especially Liverpool.

"I believe that playing in England would be a great chance for me as this league is a sensational place for forwards."

Torres and fellow Spaniard Pepe reina have indicated they could leave Liverpool in the summer if they do not move forward and dispense with Roy Hodgson and bring in some world-class players.

Negredo's buy out clause is set at a massive €80 million but Liverpool will be hoping to pay closer to €20 million but Damian Comolli could yet find another, cheaper option in the meantime.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Lille star Eden Hazard and looks set to make a move for the player.

The Belgian winger is one of the most highly-rated players in France and seen as one of the most promising prospects in world football today.

The 20-year-old has already made over 100 appearances for his club and been part of the first-team for over three years, and appears ready for a new challenge after being voted the French Ligue 1 player and young player of the year.

Hazard has already stated his admiration in recent times for Arsenal and Wenger's ability to bring on young players, but also was attracted by a move to Liverpool.
It is unlikely that Hazard will make a move to the Gunners during the January transfer window, but could well arrive at the Emirates in the summer unless Liverpool or another club accelerate their interest in him.

Dream

Hazard even described the possibility of moving to North London as a "dream", something Wenger was keen to see come true.

"Let us try to make his dream come true, " Wenger said.

"We are following him.

"Personally I think he has real talent and the level needed to play at Arsenal.

"But in the offensive department we have many players. At the end of the season we'll have a look at the situation."

To ed what do u think of the striker keirrison from santos

{Editor Note: All I've heard is that he has potential. Never seen him play mate.}

He is Barcelona's player for last 2 years. Only on loan at Santos. He failed to mark himself at Barca and went to Fiorentina last year, too. he is good and could be a good addition, if we worked well on him.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Isn't he another "problem child"? From what I've heard he has bags of ability, a quality finisher and fast, but he is very lightweight which makes you wonder if he'll thrive in the Premiership. He is supposed to be very lazy though, similar to Giovani Dos Santos.

To the ed

1 SIMPLE QUESTION, we all know KK is only till the summer and if I understand correctly, we are looking for another manager from then on who may have been already agreed to in a gentleman's agreement. If all the above is true, then how can we all be speculating rumours on KKs choices and not the combined choice of the 3 - KK, Comolli and the manager from the summer. If I am not wrong should that not be the manner and thought of transfers in order for the manager to not say next season that it is not his team and he inherited it from KK?

I am happy for KKs appointment but am surely nervous about having 3 managers in 2 seasons as it cannot be good for steadying and printing one style on a squad. So am just praying KK can continue next season too.

Ed, plese correct me with inside info if you have anything which is contrary to my assumptions above {ed's note - people just love to speculate, I do agree though it is unlikely to be Kenny's final decision, but that is why Comolli is there.}

Expect the following to happen:
Arda Turan - Kenny liked and reccomended him to Hodgson, who said he wasn't good enough, too risky. Now Kenny has the reins he'll do all he can to get this done.
Stephen Warnock - Houllier doesn't rate him and I for one would love to see him back. He's better than Konchesky and fills the English quota.
Also looking heavinly at Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Ola Toivonen or Luis Suarez to partner Nando, as well as a potential move for Balazs Dzudzsak. The reason for Eredivisie players is because Holland aren't too great financially at the minute, meaning that you're looking at £7m for Dzudzsak, and £8m for RVW, £9m for Toivo and £15m for Suarez.
There are potentially around another 100+ players that could join, he has been scouting for a good 2 years now for talent.

Dalglish is back, and I have it from a very good source that it is not necessarily a short term appointment - The board have identified two managers who they feel can take the club forward, and both are currently doing very well with their current clubs and, if we could attract them, cost a small fortune in compensation to get on board, therefore the intention is to hold off on any approaches for the time being, and see what happens.

Therefore, Dalglish is in charge for the foreseeable future and has been given 'full' managerial 'rights' i.e. he can hire and fire staff and sign players.

His brief, and only brief, is to bring stability and pride back to the club.

Leaving will be Sammy Lee - Dalglish has not been impressed with him for a long time and, coming in as the new assistant will be Ray Wilkins - He would command instant respect from all the players and has an excellent record with Chelsea, is a great man manager and a calming influence.

Along with Wilkins, Dalglish will look to employ the likes of Phil Thompson, Ian Rush, Sami Hyppia and, surprisingly, Graham Souness, who will have differing roles, ranging from coaching duties to scouting to club ambassadors - All with the intention of re-installing the old 'boot room' way and making sure each and every player knows what it means to pull on the red shirt.

Dalglish has been workig very closely with Comolli since his arrival, and transfer targets had already been discussed and agreed between the two of them, however, with Hodgson in charge, he still retained the final say so on signings, so certain players, i.e. Turan, Honda and a few others, had been written off by Hodgson - however, they are now back on the list.

Three signings will be made - Dalglish believes the defence is good enough(! !? ?) as he is a huge fan of Wilson, who he believes one day will be as good as Hansen, but he also thinks he is good enough to play the left back role, so expect to see him playing there soon !

He is also a huge fan of Kelly, and has also been quoted on record of stating he believes Johnson would make a 'great' right sides midfielder / winger, so expect that change as well.

Also, he is a huge fan of Joe Cole, so I would expect he will get a more game time, playing off the striker.

The signings will be a tricky winger (Turan), midfielder (Alonso) and striker (?).

All the players will be told, in no unceetain terms, if they are not 100% committed, they can go, but I don't expect many to jump ship.

Hopefully with Kenny back at the Helm, he will show NESV/ FSG that Comolli has no place at the club - a manager needs total control over the transfers - the debacles Rafa had with Parry, H+G and Purslow over transfers highlight how important it is for the manager to be trusted to buy for his vision if cash is available - if you think otherwise then we don't have the right manager.

Hope to God we don't appoint Owen Coyle - another mid table manager who won nothing! and as for MON - I'd write the slogans outside Melwood meself!

Just a personal thought, just reading a lot about people fearing that Torres might leave i for one am not, if a club are willing to pay 40 mil or 50 mil for him let him go,
with that money you could buy 2 x 25 mill strikers, if them strikers get 15 goals (league) at a minimum each a season that is more that Nando is going to get at a maximum, if the owners put in 30 mill you can get your wingers out of that money, deadwood player sales will sort your defence out. .just a thought. need to start to act now and not lead us all in to a big bitter disappointment come the 31/ 01. (remember you will only get out what you put in, that goes for the owners with there money as well)

Ive been told liverpool have looked at balazs dzsudzsak form PSV for a while now and have liked what they saw!

{ED?}What are ur thoughts on that?

{Editor Note: Our scouts have been spotted in Holland watching both PSV and Ajax. For what players, we can only guess. As for the one you mentioned, he seems a pretty good player with pace.}

apparently they went to watch a few Affelay, toivonen, Emmanualson, Van der weil, the for mentioned, Suarez, Vertonghen.

Who would be happy if all we did this month was sign Honda and Turan?

Bel = Yes, Unbel = No

Ed - thoughts? I know neither is an out and out striker, but Torres likes to be up there on his own, with lots of support from attacking midfielders. Even if Torres doesn't play, i think Dirk can put a shift in up on his own with supporting players like Honda, Turan and Stevie in behind. I am sure Dirk has played up top for Holland in the past and done a decent job. Personally i feel we should wait until the summer to look at forwards, as Torres might be on his way and we will need to change our playing style to suit however we bring in.

Why are people saying that we will be SELLING both Poulsen & Jovanavic this month? Not that I would have any problem if we were allowed to sell them, but to my understanding dosen't a player have to be at a club for one full season before he can be sold? Maybe I'm wrong or the rules have changed recently, but I think we're stuck with these two till the summer. Loaning them out and freeing up some salary money might be an option, but I'm not sure if even that is allowed.

Ed?

{Editor Note: The rules are that a player can't play for three teams in a single season. So Poulsen and Jovanovic would be allowed to leave should the club decide to sell them.}

Pako Ayestaran – personal first choice
Roy Evans
John Barnes
John Aldridge
Ray Wilkins – could bring an awful lot to the party
Phil Thompson
Sammy Lee – no thanks, nice try

What are the pro's and con's of each, what they would bring – personally I just relieved that we have a heart of Liverpool back at heart Liverpool, as it should be.

Now that Hodgson has gone and the King is back, what could our team be like tomorrow? Surely Kenny would want to keep this job for more then a temp basis and beating the sc*m on his return would boost his chances! Will we have a pop at playing Johnson right wing? Most importantly, how will the players react to this? Will they actually put some effort in now! Also, wasn't it Kenny who bought our attention to the possibility of signing Turan? Would he swoop for him now?

Kenny likes to defend. 1nile king

He will recruit two strong front men. Best Defense is strong attacking front men that will close down.

A Kevin Davis or Alan Shearer

This will make the midfields job easier, and allow players to join attacking moves and defend easier.

Im guessing kyrgiakos liverpool defender will be the first out of the door. Replaced by a defender of hyypia quality. Someone who can pass the Drogba test. The centre back will have to be someone cable of replacing carragha as no1

And we need Midfield Defensive work horse to replace Javier Mascherano

Roy tried his best and although he did'nt do the best of jobs, atleast he did the right thing by agreeing to leave instead of taking a compensation package. I appreciate that.

Now for transfers.

King Kenny has been all around the world as Hodgson's scout. He has seen the players first hand. This is a huge advantage. Honda, Turan and Suarez are all being looked at and Jesus Navas is also being looked at, and was recomended by Pepe Reina.

FiN

* * *

Isnt Jesus Navas the guy who suffers really badly with being homesick?
Honda, Turan & Suarez would be fantastic signings. Have we got the £s for them though?

- - -

I reckon that if we get Honda, we won't sign Turan and if we get Turan, we won't sign Turan. They both have good creativity, skill and vision so are pretty much the same type of player, maybe 10-15m.

As for Navas, he is regarded as Europe's next hotshot, I reckon that if we don't get him, Barca or Real will.

As for Suarez, although we have been linked with him and he does have quality and skill, I personally would see him as a bad signing. This is because Suarez is like Balotelli, He thinks of himself to much. We are looking for someone who can adapt to a squad quickly, and can work well with other players. Torres is fast, skillfull and a team player. This means we need another striker who is strong, tall, good touch and who can head the ball, Our average squad height is very low. I would prefer to sign Lucina Traore for around the 5mil mark and give other strikers a chance such as Pacheco, N'gog and Babel. The compitition for the 2nd striker spot will surely spur them on and motivate them to try their very hardest.

Alex Chamberlain will be our first signing under Kenny, he will be bought for £4.5 million with add ons depending on appearances and Champions League qualification. {On a side note, he is very good}

Kenny has the opportunity to stretch his stay with us if we perform well in the league and achieve a better league positions than last year. Although it will only be an extra year on to his contract. Kenny has the players support, most importantly Pepe, Stevie and Nando who all look up to him.

He has high opinions on Danny Wilson and will be looking to make him an established player this season.

Sammy Lee will be leaving in the next 2 weeks as assistant manager, with Sami Hyypia offered to take the role on from the summer if Kenny stays.

Have the hope and the patience and lets all get behind Kenny, 9000 away supporters tomorrow will be 90,000 if we're all in voice!

Editor Note: No chance. Torres will only leave Liverpool for a bigger club and Spurs most certainly do not fall into that category.

Not interested in posting rumours as it is too early into Kenny's appointment, but to suggest Torres would leave only for a bigger club is laughable after Liverpool the only way s side ways or down. We are still one of the biggest clubs in the world make no question about that, poor results and a bad manager do not change that. There is a long list of players who leave believing there is more to football than LFC Rush, Owen to name but 2. Its is a career doomed to failure after you leave, we have been let down by individuals for a number of years now but that doesn't change what this club stands for, and hopefully with roy out and NESV as our owners we may finally start to move in the right direction.

{Editor Note: And that's why I suggested it will only be for a bigger club, because in my eyes there is only one possible destination for Torres should he choose to leave. Because we won't sell to Man Utd, he won't go to R.Madrid.}

Four signings happening in January.

Suarez to be the marquee signing from Ajax with Babel going the other way.
Turan to arrive from Galatasaray with Insua going the other way.
Santon to arrive from Inter.
Honda to arrive from CSKA

Pacheco & Suso will be involved in the first team more, and Johnson will definitely move to Spain/ Italy.

- - - - - - - - - Reina - - - - - - - - -
Santon - Carragher - Agger - Aurelio
- - - Gerrard - Meireles - Honda - - -
- - - - Turan - Torres - Suarez - - - -

- Jamie Redknapp's dodgy knee.

* * *

I would be amazed if that happened but my god would it be good! That would certainly change things around imo and put us back up the table.

Glen clearly isn't happy and wants to go and Santon is better anyway! Carragher for the time being to be replaced by Kelly. Just the left back problem to solve!

{Editor Note: Is he not on loan at Hercules? I suppose he'd be a pretty decent signing. I wouldn't complain if he came.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 15:07:53
Ed who would you prefer to be instilled as coach in summer Villa Boas or Laudrup?

{Editor Note: Laudrup, because his football is the type we crave, he has experience, and I think the players would respect him but like him as a person also.}

My brother in law overheard a phone conversation in dubai between kenny and A N OTHER the first priority will be to sort out our shambles of a defence!
in; mertsacker, lescott & warnock.(all mentioned))
out; konk, the greek, & skirtle.
then some width and removal of so called dead wood
in; young, honda, Diarra & SWP (again all mentioned)
out; poulson, babbel,
finally up top.
in; suarez & adeybayor. (suarez named & forward on loan from city)
out; kuyt & Ngog
also heard a whisper that the no2 would be a returning old boy?
gazthered.

08 Jan 2011 15:06:21
Ed what do you think chances are of signing the following in Jan?
Santon inter
Banega Valencia
Suarez Ajax

{Editor Note: I think we have a great chance of Santon if we make our interest serious. I can't see us getting the other two although I'd be delighted with Banega.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 15:04:57
Anybody know how much Hoffenheim bid for Bable? Ed do you?

{Editor Note: I don't know if they've made a bid or not mate. Just heard rumours they want him. I'd be happy with about £8m.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 15:03:43
Ed is it true we are in pole position to sign Santon? Thanks

{Editor Note: Rumour has it that he'll hold talks with clubs next week and that we're favourites. But all I've heard from a certain Italian journo (Marcotti) is that we are one of the interested teams. Chelsea being another.}

()()

What about Kuyt plus 6-7 million for Suarez and Babel plus 2 million for Toivonen.
Anyone agree ?

08 Jan 2011 14:57:51
Rumour has it there is a party at babels house to celebrate penny's arrival!
Elia
Turan
Honda and Suarez are all invited!
Konchesky isn't invited and poulson is on door duty! Pacheco is stunned he is invited as he has been excluded for the last 6 months Soto is at the hairdressers. Gerrard is too be having multiple orgasms about the king being manager.
I'm just passing on what I've heard!
Watch this space!
KING!

{Editor Note: No chance. Torres will only leave Liverpool for a bigger club and Spurs most certainly do not fall into that category.}

hope so ed? but money talks? nandos unhappy and you sound nervous?? but im sure all will be fine?? think they are very close to the suarez deal anywayl! again hope so!

{Editor Note: I'm confident that Fernando Torres loves this football club and wants to succeed here. Hopefully with a fresh start under Kenny and a few good players he'll see we're trying to build again. Anyway, Spurs couldn't afford Torres and we'll certainly not be convinced by them offering us their cast-offs like Crouch.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 14:56:31
Finally we all got what we wanted! Now whether or not Kenny gets any money to bring in players, let's hope he can get our core players playing somewhere near their best. An on form Fernando Torres would transform our team. Kenny has the prescence and history to get the players to put the pride back into the shirt.
The notoriously bad January window this year has a lot of good players available - Luis Suarez and Keisuke Honda would completely revitalise our attack! A couple of attacking signings are needed to refresh the team, let's hope the owners listen and learn from Dalglish that when there's good players available you buy them!

()()

08 Jan 2011 14:56:14
{Editor Note: Well I would certainly like to think that Dalglish will naturally know what type of player is required for us.}

He's been watching ola toivonen and is a big fan of arda turan. I'd be shocked if Turan wasn't at least in kennys thoughts. Am hoping we get Suarez too.

Ed any preferences for you?

{Editor Note: I like Turan, but the player I want to see the most is Mata although I can't see it happening. Perhaps Honda and a good winger this window like Turan.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 14:49:29
Taken from the GGTH site that spurs are preparing to make an offer for nando which will include either pavlyuchenko or crouch plus money?? no details, but they are weighing up either nando, suarez or llorente?? ?

{Editor Note: No chance. Torres will only leave Liverpool for a bigger club and Spurs most certainly do not fall into that category.}

()()

08 Jan 2011 14:47:37

Its been a while since i posted but always reading. I think our season would be transformed if we managed to tie deals for the following couple of players this january transfer window.
HONDA-Would be amazing to see him over the freekicks and playing either side of the wing, behind the striker or covering for left back when theres injuries.
SANTON-Young, with bags of skill, usually plays left back for inter although right-footed.

The striker situation I am not sure of, we have recently been linked to negredo whose CAREER goal scoring ratio
is a goal every 3 games which is quite good. also, this season hes really stepped his game up having overtaken brazilian fabiano in the pecking order aswell.
Also, as someone else mentioned, Kenny is a long time admirer of Arda Turan who is a very good player in my opinion so that could materialise aswell.

thank you Roy for trying your best and I if not all of us wish you a better future than that of which you have come across in the last 6 months, it just didn't work out.

Kenny seems to be a keen admirer of toivonen, he tried to persuade hodgson to bring him in the summer. now he has it in hisown hands to you think there is a possibility.

King Kenny will only bring in one or two players, he is not a manager who goes out and buys 5 or 6 players for his team in a transfer window. He knows he has a good base there and will only add to it. Expect Turan or Honda playing behind Torres and a left back in the transfer window.

Team to play utd

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Aerlio
Johnson Gerrard Lucas Babel
Kuyt Torres

Expect to see the emphasis on getting the ball wide and pass and move when in possesion Kuyt will do the work in behind Torres and Nando will be told to get on the shoulder of the last man, If Kuyt isn't in this role it will be Joe Cole. Expect to see the team press like hell when they don't have the ball. And expect to see Agger lead the line and there to be a more solid back line than in the last few weeks.

Kenny Dalglish is a great manager in the transfer market. When he was given money at Liverpool the 1st time he bought great players such as Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and Houghton. At Blackburn he was even better getting players such as Shearer, Hendry and Sutton. He even bought Speed, Given and Solano for Newcastle during his short time there.
Dalglish is great news for Liverpool's transfer dealings.

What does everyone think King Kenny's First XI tomorrow will be?
Personally, I'd like to see:

Reina

Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Aurelio

Johnson, Gerrard, Lucas, Maxi

Cole, Torres

Sub: Gulacsi, Babel, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Mereles(if fit) or Jovanovic

I also think King Kenny is a very very brave man, we've put him on a very high pedestal and I just hope he's still on it in 6 months. The players should note that a true Anfield Legend is now in charge and they must all try and emulate him, if they do we will have one hell of a team! COME ON REDMEN!

Guys, while todays news is hopefully positive we need to see the big picture through & not stagnate with regards the transfer market! Need to strengthen our attack, the wings & defence quickly to have any chance of capturing a european spot via the league! Think Kenny is the only man to sort Torres out one way or the other! Nobody would blame Kenny for dropping him or letting him leave but would have crucified Roy or any other manager.

Santon 8-10 million
Honda 10-12 million
Defer 10-13 million
Banega 8-10 million
Lahm 12-15 million
Hazard 12-18 million

This would total worst case scenario 94 million can't see us forking this out over Jan and summer , but maybe all but bottom two could be possible. What do you think ED? All quality players in my opinion.

Macca from being sure from 31st of dec that Hodgson won't go till summer to 2nd of jan youve been told hes going b4 the man u game. . christ youve got some good contacts? then from being told to being sure? bit of backtrackin?

I spoke to someone yesterday and he told me he was pretty sure that he will be gone.

I think it is a shock because up until yesterday people where confident he would stay till the end of season.

Macca

So I presume the only reason he was at the Wigan game with Camolli. was Camolli was sayin to him come next week your gonna end up managing something like these. A chit team with over expectant supporters. .NO CHANGE THERE THEN?

Is Kenny the man to get the best out of Ryan Babel? I think he will start alongside Torres tomorrow.

Ray Wilkins I hope will become our assistant. I know he played for Man U but there is no doubting he knows what he is talking about

Hi ed, macca and gents

its my first contribution on here so go gentle its a mixture of probability hopefullness and a little common sense so here it is.

kenny is a massive fan of turan so i would say it is a no brainer that kenny will make a bid and turan will want the move so there is a big possibility he'll be doning the red shirt very soon!

- 9m plus insua should get him

honda is a player that would make great sense for footballing reasons as well as finacial as 'brand honda will mean massive revenue for the club plus he fits the new owners mould perfectly he is young, skillfull extremely talented and plays proper football so i can see a bid been made there.

- 12m apparently is the fee been banded about but i'd go upto 16m

santon is looking promising as long as were not out bid which would sort out rb, i can also see johnson wanting to stay now as his issue was with hodgson but personally i'd sell him and buy cahill and cissokho and get the owners to stump up the cash for richards from city, so our back line would be looking quite good

cissokho- - -cahill- - - richards- - -santon

there's a fair few players who arent good enough who can be sold to raise the cash for our other purchases such as poulsen 3m, agger 10m, el zhar 750k, babel 7m, n'gog 8m, cole 6m that's 34m which would more than cover the cost of getting a.johnson and darren bent (underrated but scores loads) can you imagine even with torres out or off form we could still have a front 3 of

- -johnson- - - - -bent- - - - -turan

so playing 4-3-3 it would look something like this (well in an ideal world anyway but it's not impossible)

- johnson- - - - -bent- - - - -turan-
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - honda- - gerrard- -meireles- - -
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
cissokho- - - - - - - - - - - - -santon
- - - - - -cahill- - - - -richards- - - -
- - - - - - - - - reina- - - - - - - -

i'd rest torres and use him sparingly if he stays till the end of the season but if he looks to move i'd bring in suarez and save the change till summer i'd also get on the phone to juventus and tell them we want momo sissoko back till the end of season with a vue to a swap deal including momo +5m for aqua so when needed we can play a holding mid.

anyway that's what i'd hope for as i'm sure most of you would.

ed/ macca have you heard anything yet on possible signing and what do you make of my first post

fester {ed's note - I am going to wait and take a few deep breaths before I get into talking about transfers I think. Too easy to get carried away on the optimism and excitement and misread things.}

In addition to previous mail signing following.

Hazard
Lahm
Santon
Suarez
Honda

Defour

Fully agree but in addition Michael Laudrup installed for the summer anyone agree?

Ed would be dreamworld but could you imagine. {ed's note - far too many changes for my liking, it would be December before they got playing together.}

The king is back! Although it is a 6month contract, NESV will happily extend it if Kenny does a good job. In Janauary expect Honda, Taiwo and Turan to come in. If Kenny stays beyond the summer expect Hazard, Sacko, Santon Llorente and Annan to come in! Pacheco and Kelly will finally get the nod and get some first team football. Good times arnt to far away! please post ed!

Finally Hodgson is gone, I mean he's a good guy and all, but he wasnt the right manager for Liverpool FC. Far too defensive tactics and all, and could only bring in average players. I hope we will see more of the young lads playing, like Suso, he's amazing. Ed you know anything about the likely transfers? Any news on Elia or Honda? :D {ed's note - I really don't see Elia joining, he has been bigging up United!}

Ed with Roy gone would this affect any chances of signing Santon from Inter? Do you think we will get him? {ed's note - Roy was not in charge of transfers, it will make no difference.}

The big difference will be that we won't be after roys targets (Carlton Cole, Robert Huth) I know we haven't signed them but Roy will defiantly be interested. Santon, Merveaux and Gervinho would be more Comolli type signings.

how can macca be the one who was right about kenny dalglish taking over as manager i broke the news last night that he was taking over and that he would be in for the manu game also that van gaal will be manager next season with kenny overseeing that he gets all the help he needs
from theturdz first yet again with all the real info on lfc {ed's note - because he said it before the Rovers game that Kenny would be in regardless of the result of that game. That predates you by a fair bit mate.}

Xabi is a hardcore liverpool fan, he still comes to anfield when he can and he has a good relationship with most of his former colleagues, why is it a surprise he is wishing king kenny luck and not roy? Unless, you didn't realise kenny had replaced him?

that was it mate, i was just out of bed and 1st thing i checked was walkon.com, which had no headlines on the subject at that time, so i checked my twitter page to see that comment from xabi (who i know loves the club) so i posted the comment before realising roy was gone.

Heard he was injured until february. Not sure if it's true. Couldn't find anything online. Turan is defiantly good enough. Look up the game where we played against him, he destroyed us. I've watched him enough to know he's class, still young and a die hard lfc. Looks like an easy decision.

Jus an opinion

Maybe if kenny does well and he wants to keep the job, y not keep him on for next season.

Maybe he can pull off wat he did with blackburn n finally win the elusive premier league title we all crave.

N to get it under kenny would jus be poetry.

People will say, ya well blakburn had some money at the time. But we not exactly poor anymore, n if results go our way, nesv will give kenny cash. After all he picked the team that won that league.

I'm just bein positive, n after all, anything is possible in football.

To the guy who posted he worked printing shirts last week (?). . .
It all makes sense, we all eassumed it could have been Honda but think again - The best No.7 the club has ever had is back!
This is probably why the club is expecting shirt sales to go through the roof! !
Hopefully now this is sorted we can now concentrate on the transfer window.
However, with Camolli about the transfer targets should remain the same I would have thought but it is well known KK is an admirer of Turan, and at 23 he could well be on the radar. Forget all this rubbish about Carlton Cole and the other dross that's been mentioned.
Lets hope NESV continue to work as professional as they have been, people need to be patient and stop jumping the gun. They ARE the right owners and they ARE making the right decisions.

GoodKopBadKop

08 Jan 2011 12:30:06
On a more transfer related note I would expect to see a slight refinement in targets; expect extensive effort to sign:

Honda
Turan
and (this is backed up by Macca's belief) Suarez

Kenny is a known fan of the first two and an astute footballing man, he would be foolish to turn up the readily available Suarez. Whether we get them, be it due to price or another team, remains to be seen.

I'd just like to say, it's credible people are apologising to Macca for doubting his info, but I think a lot of us should be apologising to NESV (myself included). Because nothing happened on Thurs we started to doubt their credentials and ability to deal with our ever increasing problems. However, it would appear they were actively working on resolving the issues at hand, whilst also ensuring the press were thrown off the track - delayed press conferences, roy making statement ahead of tomorrow etc. Lets hope there are exciting transfers in the pipeline too. Finally, I think Roy should be given a bit of credit for the way he's conducted himself over the past few days when clearly he knew what was happening! He wasn't the right man for our club (I think he's admitted this more or less with his parting comments) but nevertheless good luck for future Roy and I just hope now ALL the under performing players at the club will do their utmost to improve, play with passion and show they belong/ want to stay at the club we all love! Thanks again

Also editor I think it is important that we only sign players that actually want to play for LFC and not with us trying a damn hardest to persuade them to play for liverpool, wouldn't you agree. feedback would be much appreciated, thank you. {ed's note - Turan would crawl here over broken glass for the chance and Kenny loves him, he also rate McGeady and a whole list of wingers. Good news about Roy leaving, everyone shud b galavanised around the glub now and 2morrows game agains Manpoo shud b more electrifying. . I would like to say tho that ppl should not expect too much from King Kenny, he been out of the game as a manager for a long time and may take him a while to re-adjust. I for one am a little weary about King Kennys appointment, I wish him and hope for the best but hope this temporary role doest turn sour and spoil King bKennys reputation at Anfield as perhaps Kevin Keegans mite b at Newcastle

Good luck King Kenny, hope you can turn things around

Pls post this ed, my last 3 havent been posted!

Jim

Not too sure about Tommo, what about bringing in Ray Wilkins, nice guy, well respected and look where Chelsea are since he left. I doubt it would happen but i would like to see it happen. What do you say Ed?

{editor: That is a good shout. Kenny said on his twitter about how shocked he was at Ray getting sacked from Chelsea. We will have to wait and see.}

Glad that King Kenny is in charge for the rest of the season but i just hope that is all it is. I just hope NESV have gave it too him for the rest of the season as they will persue there main target in the summer. Finally, Roy Hodgson, great guy, job just too big for him to take on. Lets hope Kenny can get the boys up for the game against the mancs! Can also see Turan coming in as correct me if im wrong but didn't he recommend him to Rafa and Roy.

I would just like to take this time and say thank you to Roy Hodgson and let him know there's no hard feelings from Liverpool fans towards him it's just one of them unfortunate things that he wasn't quite up to the job although i don't think he was helped by some of the lazy overpayed b* tards that he had to pick from, Roy you seem to be a nice bloke so good luck for the future.

Hi eds, I know this is not strictly a rumour but please can you stick it on the rumours page?

I'd just like to wish Mr Roy Hodgson all the best for the future. He tried his hardest, and that is all we can ask as a club. No, it did not work out, but it would be churlish for supporters of our great club not to thank him for his efforts and wish him well.

Now, come on you red men and all hail the king!

Hi lfc fans this may seem stupid to you but for me 90% of the time i have a dream it happens, i have won lots of bets when i have a dream and last nite i had a dream and honda was playing for us, we was playing m*nure and winning 1-0 don't know final score. and there was also another player but couldn't figure him out. so ill be putting another bet that honda will sign not sure on the odds but advice people to have a bet to, hope it comes true. and also dreams aside elia has already signed, the rumours that he likes other clubs is cos nevs don't like going public so it wouldn't suprise me if they have made that rumour themselves. gezza1982

Ed, I am like every LFC fan totally gutted with our form this season, however the players have to take some responsibility and i am sure you will agree that too many have under performed.
The problem is we all know Woy is not the man to take us forward, but unfortunately mid-season is not the right time to appoint a new manager as there is limited choice. So we are stuck in this situation where NESV know we need a new manager and we need new players to improve the squad.
Ed, do you think we should hold back buying players this window and give all the funds to a new manager in the summer with a clean slate? Would you also consider giving the likes of Wilson, Shelvey & Kelly more game time to see if they can cut it?

Liverpool FC confirmed today that manager Roy Hodgson has left the club by mutual consent.

Principal Owner John Henry commented: "We are grateful for Roy's efforts over the past six months, but both parties thought it in the best interests of the club that he stand down from his position as team manager. We wish him all the best for the future."

Roy Hodgson said: "Being asked to manage Liverpool Football Club was a great privilege. Any manager would be honoured to manage a club with such an incredible history, such embedded tradition and such an amazing set of fans. Liverpool is one of the great clubs in world football. I have, however, found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career. I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given the time to bring new players into the club in this transfer window and to have been able to be part of the rebuilding process at Liverpool. The club has some great, world-class players, with whom it has been a pleasure to work and I wish the entire squad well for the rest of the season. I thank those with whom I have built up a close working relationship at the club for their loyalty and support during very testing times, and finally of course to the Liverpool fans, your passion and dedication to the club will see Liverpool at the top of the game once more."

Club legend Kenny Dalglish will assume control of team matters for Sunday's third round FA Cup tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Henry added: "We are delighted that Kenny Dalglish has agreed to step in and manage the team for Sunday's FA Cup tie at Old Trafford and for the remainder of the season.

"Kenny was not just a legendary footballer, he was the third of our three most successful managers - three giants. We are extraordinarily fortunate and grateful that he has decided to step in during the middle of this season."

Chairman Tom Werner said: "No one who cares for this great club has been happy with the way this season has unfolded and we have examined options and considered at length what is best for us going forward. Kenny will bring considerable experience to the position and provide management and leadership for the rest of the season."

I posted on here on thurs night (but it got put on banter page) that we should sell torres for between 40-50 mil (some mug would pay it) and buy suarez and llorente for the same price, no brainer really as we'd be getting 2 for 1, now according to reports today torres has told his agent to find him a new club, great lets get the ball rolling before these two great strikers are snapped up by spurs as rather than spend weeks thinking about buying a player they just seem to go out and do it, something we as a club need to start doing, maybe that's one of the negatives of having a commitee deciding all transfer dealings.

The Belfast telegraf has run the story that, Roy is to be sacked after the Manure game win lose or draw. Fingers crossed. Also a lot of reports Nando wants out. I say see ya if it's true. What the club needs more than anything else is an entire team playing for the badge, the manager, the fans and most importantly their own pride. Get rid and bring in players with heart who don't hide the minute things go all pete tong.

Ed what's the latest on Adam Barton- -I've seen him, he's quite a good player. Liverpool is the right place for him to develop. I think he is better than Shelvey from what I saw. You know anything about it?

* *

shelvey is english ad has more potential than barton, barton you say is "quite good", we don't need quite good. if this kid is quite good playing in the championship how is he going to perform in prem and europa league. shelvey plays exceptional every europa league, he is justy lacking a bit of confidence. i say if we loan him to championship he would be miles better than this barton kid.

santon will cost 8 million and a deal will be agreed for the summer, he will be a left-back for the club. negredo is a january target but 13million price. SWP is another target he is 5million pounds and he does have skill, when he plays he does well i don't know why you hate him so much, he will add a needed right - winger and he has width and skill. If kenny is installed on basis Turan bid will be done.

My information is quiet solid , king Kenny wants 18 months to prove he is the man to lead our reds. He wants time to buy and sell and he is guaranteeing champions league football in 2012.

Nesv are only offering a caretaker role until the end of the season.

King Kenny senses that he is in powerfull negotiating position and has refused the caretaker role.

Ed - please put on rumour page so all us reds can get a real sense of feeling about our fellow supporters thoughts (if the post can stay on throughout day it'd be great - as more visitors to site will give their views) . Just read Stevie's comments on web page, whilst I applaud his positivity with regards to tomorrows game and obviously as captain he ain't gonna dismiss our chances out of hand - but seriously, do we genuinely believe we can lift our performance to a level which will be enough to beat the f*lth in their own back yard (considering the shambles so far this season)? I hate the mancs as much as anyone on here and perhaps i'm being very pessimistic but I think the vast majority of reds fans will be hurt, depressed and dejected at the moment and no-one hand on heart can confidently predict where our next win is coming from. So believable if you think we can win, unbelievable if you think more heartache is destined for 3.30pm tomorrow. Ps Eds interested in your thoughts. Pps Great site and work - thank you

{editor: Thanks for you input. I think that we can beat anyone on our day, we did it with Chelsea when they looked untouchable. If we take the shackles off the players and let them go at United from the kick off then I can see us getting a result. Like Stevie said, the players don't need motivating for a big game like this so they can concerntrate on beating thier rivals. We are all hoping for the same thing, a Liverpool win.}

Reports are starting to come out of Spain that Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is determined to leave Anfield and has instructed his agent to do what is required to make it happen.

It is clear that Torres is unhappy at Liverpool and has been so for a while now and if the reports are to be believed then this will be more shocking news for the crisis club.

If Torres was to leave Anfield it would send out the wrong signal, not just to the players currently at the club, but any players contemplating moving to Liverpool.

It is now very hard to see how Roy Hodgson can remain in charge, the board have almost lost confidence in Hodgson and if it becomes official that Torres does indeed want out then any hopes that Hodgson had of remaining in charge will have been distinguished.

Roy Hodgson will not be sacked because a) FSG want to give him the chance to turn things around and develop the team he and Comolli want, b) he is willing to work with Comolli c) Roy's reputation within the game is good, d) no suitable alternatives are available at this time. This would only be reviewed if Roy's relationship with the players has broken down beyond repair or Liverpool slip into the bottom 4 or 5.

There will be no more than 4 first team-type signings this winter but potential targets are being kept under wraps and these are likely to be surprises to us and the press with the possible exception of Merveux.

Also my choice in the summer would of been pelegrino, but since then (with more research and education on the matter) i would love to see Micheal Laudrup given the chance

Any one agree ?

Yes, would love to see Laudrup given the chance.
playing decent football at moment and is a big enough name to attract players in his own right - despite the shocking state of the club at the moment.
Owen Coyle - he may be doing ok at Bolton but i have concerns that he is another Woy in that only 1 season of success. His name alone wouldn't attract players or convince current ones to stay - unlike Laudrup.

Just how good is this Sylvain Marveaux fella? don't know a great deal about him. Is he joining now for a nominal fee or a free in the summer?

its not worth YouTube as even Konchesky and Poulsen can look good on there!

{editor: He has an injury that he is having an op on so I would expect to see him in January}

I am beginning to think roy will be kept on until the summer, i tend to think that nesv have an idea of who they want as boss and he s not available until summer, so it ll either be carry on with roy and 2/ 3 new signings or an interim manager ether kenny or thommo for six months. to be honest i think kenny could rise the players and morale of the club in the short term until nesv s primary target is attainable. kenny also wants turan at the club

players i would love to see signed this window

suarez vargas someone in the xabi alonso deep lying playmaker mould and a decent winger, two preferably one could be young like payet and the other mata

suarez mata vargas javi martinez/ banega payet would make a super january.
i would have like us to sign tiago mendes instead of oulsen during the summer him and meireles together in midfield with gerrard behind torres would have been good.
however i think we will see one major signing, likely honda , another cheapo like marveaux and possibly a couple of up and coming talents and that will be about it, shaqiri looks a good bargain at the moment

For you editor:
if woy hodson leaves liverpool, then we won't sign merveux, signing merveux was a woys idea. .& are you sure we are intersted in merveuax. seeing him @ anfield is not meaning he is joining us.who knows he may be joining evrton as a replacement for pienaar.

ed: once again, can you confirm that we are intersted in merveuax. and from what source, tell me if you want. .

{Editor's Note: Liverpool are interested in Sylvain Marveaux. It was nothing to do with Roy Hodgson whatsoever.}

Ed, can we sign Ashly young even if spurs comes for him? his dad is a spurs fan & spurs can provide him with champions league football. .spurs are now generating cash from player sales. & they might now go for him. if we miss on him it will be a huge miss. .

{Editor's Note: The two essential ingredients of a transfer - an interest from Liverpool and a willing from the player - seem to be missing. I would say not and it really does not matter about his father.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
And to add to that Ashley Young is very overated and over priced, there are far better options for the money.

As far as i know liverpool havent made an offer for any player in this transfer window , , and all these rumours linking LFc with players have no truth at all

. Gervinhio's club dismissed the rumour. elia has said he won't to join a european elite. . woy has dismissed the suarez rumour, keisuke honda's agent has dismissed honda's rumour, rod fanni joined marseille. adil Rami joined valencia. Sait Etinne has dismissed Dimitry payets rumour, Carlo Anchelotti dismissed sturidge rumour, Mancity won't allow adebayor to join us on loan, Ricky Van Wolfs winkels club utreched has said that they havent recievd an offer from liverpool, eden hazard wants to join aresnal, fernando llorente wants to remain with Athletic club until the end of the season. , , , , , , , ,

So Liverpool are not intersted in signing any player in this window& the players aint gonna join a club in a situation like liverpool. & this is the truth believe it or not. . whats your thought ed, ?

{Editor's Note: Fanni joined Marseille weeks ago; a number of the players you listed were never of interest to the club; you have conveniently forgotten Sylvain Marveaux.}

Taken from the belfast telegraph. today.

Roy Hodgson is expected to be sacked as Liverpool manager next week — even if the Merseysiders get a shock result at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The decision to replace Hodgson has already been taken, and it's now only a matter of when the axe will fall on the 63-year-old former Fulham boss.

Yesterday's press conference — when Hodgson was meant to talk about the FA Cup third-round tie with Manchester United — was cancelled and it's believed Liverpool's American owners, Fenway Sports Group, will meet with Hodgson after tomorrow's game to deliver the bad news.

It is understood that Hodgson, who has been in charge of Liverpool for just over six months, will be replaced once FSG have identified an interim appointment.

Kenny Dalglish — the fans' choice to steady the sinking ship at Anfield — is expected to take that role, but will not be offered the job on a full-time basis.

Hodgson has presided over the club's worst start since the 1953-54 season — and defeat against Blackburn on Wednesday night was Liverpool's ninth loss in the Premier League this season, leaving the side languishing 12th in the table and just four points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool have drawn up a shortlist of managers to replace Hodgson which includes former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard and the little known ex-Hoffenheim chief Ralf Rangnick.

Heard a rumour that Liverpool were offering Glen Johnson to Bayern in exchange for Gomez.

They will then buy Santon for 8m to replace Johnson and bring in Taiwo for left back as he has been made available for 4m.

Heard anything ed?

{Editor Note: All I've heard mate is that we are definatly interested in Santon. Not heard anything about Gomez or Taiwo.}

Hi ed thanks for your thoughts on Roy hodgson staying o totally agree but I just have that deep down feeling he'll be here for a while longer I hope not I really do. We won't and can't go down but I think players like Conor wickham should come in carra as player coach bring on Danny Wilson and Martin Kelly they would have fight that we need.cheers ed. Davide santon has had talks with us and is sorting out personal terms(sauce, I'm scouting and giveme football.com)might not have to pay a fee if Glen Johnson swaps places. What you think ed.

{Editor Note: All I know is that Gabriele Marcotti has mentioned Liverpool and Chelsea's interest in him. Don't know whether a bid or anything has been made. But I'd be delighted if we signed him, I think he has great potential.}

Hi ed I've just read on I'm scouting that Negredo to join Liverpool and Ryan babel to join hoffenheim. Also my gut feeling I don't think Roy hodgson will be sacked, as Liverpool never sack a manager during a season. What you think about hodgson syaying ed. Cheers Jodethered

{Editor Note: I'd be gutted if Hodgson stayed. We have 9 very difficult away games for the remainder of the season which include Arsenal and Chelsea and our away form is absolutly awful. Our home games include City, Spurs and Man Utd. Without a change, and only 4 points above the relegation zone we have to be fearful for our status in the Premiership as long as Hodgson is in charge.}

Andre Villas-Boas

Liverpool's Damien Comolli will look for another coach to replace Roy Hodgson; Porto's Andres Villas-Boas has been targeted as replacement.

Roy Hodgson's job is indeed on the line. with reports claiming that Damien Comolli – whose policy opposes Roy's wish to be in control of transfers – is ready to find another man to continue the job at Anfield. Rumours explain that Andre Villas-Boas could become Liverpool's next boss since director of football Damien Comolli is said to be a big fan of the Porto coach.

Ed what's the latest on Adam Barton- -I've seen him, he's quite a good player. Liverpool is the right place for him to develop. I think he is better than Shelvey from what I saw. You know anything about it?

{Editor Note: I know absolutly nothing about it mate. All I heard is that we were interested. Comolli wants young British talent, so maybe we are atleast looking at him.}

"RE:to the guy spending 80m.

you forgot Bastian Schweinsteiger"

I didn't forget Bastian Schweinsteiger, but he just signed new deal with FC Bayern München till 2016 and said he just don't won't to go to another club

he's similar to Stevie G with style of play, only younger 4 years
also his price tag is at least 35.000.000 €, and we have Stevie G, with couple of great signing and Stevie could get in form 2 years ago when he was assisting and delivering, that's the Stevie we need
