A quick question before bed Eds.

Have we, or any other club looked at Diego (DIEGO RIBAS the CUNHA) of Wolfsburg?

Granted he's supposed to have a bit of an attitude problem and has fallen out with clubs previously (remind you of anyone?) but. he's quick, skill-full, a goal scorer and assist provider (10 goals and 7 assists in thirty something games last season), can play as support striker / left wing / attacking midfielder, and with a contract expiring in 2014 could be a bit of a bargain. And being 28 should be coming into his best period. Basically looks on paper like exactly the kind of player we are going for.

So have we looked at him / has anyone else?

Cheers again Eds! {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid want him back but Diego is, for the first time, settled in to the Wolfsburg team with Magath out of the way. He comes with very significant baggage and would, in my view, be an entirely dumb move by BR. I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time. Lingering interest from Sporting Lisbon and Botofogo could attract him at some point.

#WonderDogSparky dreams of him and Diego Costa as roomies.}

Any chance Adem Llajic could be brought in on the wing for us, at least after downing goes?, I know Fiorentina seem desperate not to sell to Milan even though the player wants a move. {Ed002's Note - There has been no interest shown by Liverpool.

Agreed completely- best of luck to him. Would love to see him help get Bolton promoted and have an appearance at Anfield next season, even if it were for the opposition.

Echo the posts before - this lad really raised his game to get himself into first team contention, effort and attitude was brilliant and shame he couldn't back it up with his all round contribution. Thanks Jay, good luck.

Ed02 what is the latest with Luis Gustavo? {Ed002's Note - Inter Milan, Arsenal, Wolfsburg and Chelsea are interested in Gustavo. He wanted to stay at Bayern Munich but they would like to see him move on and he now accepts this. He has agreed personal terms with Wolfsburg but they have not been able to agree a price with Bayern.}

Believable9 Unbelievable9

Would have liked to see him in the prem Wolfsburg sounds like a nothing move

Aly cissokho should be a Liverpool player by the end of the window(touchwood). remember going to a Valencia vs Mallorca match in February and he was one of the three players that really impressed me. Looked very good in attack, got pace and is surprisingly good in the air. Really excited to have two good left backs in our squad. the other two I thought were impressive were diego alves and feghouli, any interest in either from any clubs? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Benfica and Inter have shown an interest in Diego Alves. Whilst Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli was stalling on signing a new contract in January, his agents were scurrying around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs were approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest serious interest of not. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton (and probably others) were invited to take a look at the player but he was to depart for the ACON. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player but were told that he is not available. Since then a new contract has been agreed with Valencia and if they were to sell in the summer because of financial difficulties then they would look for a couple of teams to be keen enough to push up the price - otherwise they will look to hold on to the player - even though he would be agreeable to leaving.}

Darren Lewis just said that he still expects Arsenal to sign Suarez and Henry said the same statement before torres was sold a few days later. He said that Arsenal are very confident the next bid will get their man. Hope he isn't right. Also he said that we will not keep an unhappy player at the club.

Believable19 Unbelievable95

To be fair to JWH, he said that very early in his tenure as the owner and Torres was only sold 3 months later.

Agree2 Disagree1

I actually believe they will not sell Suarez to Arsenal. I believe "Suarat" will only be sold if a team from abroad comes in for him with an offer around £50 million. I sure as hell hope they don't sell him to Arsenal. Not that I wouldn't like to see the back of him after all the BS he's pulled, but we can't sell him to one of our main rivals in the chase for a top 4 spot. Simple as that.

Agree5 Disagree0

He did not say that

Agree2 Disagree1

Wonder how Darren Lewis knows this?. Maybe he got this information from where he got the release clause story. Poor Poor Suarez the most ill advised man in world football

Agree4 Disagree0

Just saw it on the net it might not be true because they can twist things.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't read Henry's mind nor predict the future but what he said is unequivocal. "I will not sell Suarez to Arsenal" he also claims he has spoken to Gazidis personally to tell him exactly that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see how we can sell him to the Arse no matter how much money they bid. John Henry left everyone in no doubt whatsoever and let's face it, our experience of American owners should have taught us that American businessmen never lie. Sewerez is destined to sit on the bench until he grovels an apology.

Agree0 Disagree2

I believe this to be the year when power of negotiation and right of refusal to negotiate go back to the clubs owning player rights. I'm a die hard LFC fan and I would love nothing more than for us to keep both Agger and Suarez - but also for Tottenham to keep Bale, Man U to keep Rooney and for Chelsea to keep Luiz. It will finally show that players and big spending clubs cannot orchestrate transfers whenever they feel like it.

Also, I find it strange that it is legal for other clubs to publicly state their interest in another club's players, which often will result in unsettling the player in question. You can say what you want about the American sports' player trading system, but it works, not least because they are very strict in this regard which they dub 'tampering'.

Agree3 Disagree0

He didn't say that. he said torres was sold the next window which was january. torres wasnt allowed go that summer as they had no replacement then for him. same again this time round.
henry said that they can't get a suitable replacement for suarez in time therefore he won't be sold. it was the same with torres until that january as we got suarez as the replacement. i'm sure we will sell suarez in january if we act early in the window to replace him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Whilst we have all read/heard what John Henry said I still believe he will leave the final decision up to Brendan Rodgers whether or not to sell Suarez.

When Real Madrid decide Bale is too expensive they will then turn their attention towards Suarez and Rodgers will sell . as for a replacement, your guess is as good as mine, I haven't a clue.

We might well have another opening campaign where we are light up front again and have to wait and buy in the January window (hopefully not, but that is the way I see it going).

Agree1 Disagree0

What about this a swap deal Suarez for Costa plus £20m or so. Everyone gets what they want. I'm sure Suarez would love it at Atlético Madrid.

A close friend works for the fenway group and he claims to have heard the Aly Cissokho deal will be done before the start of the season. He's nearly 100% reliable for the Fenway baseball trades and I believe him.

Eds, is Eriksen still a target? Or was he ever? Thanks {Ed001's Note - he was but wasn't interested, so we moved on.}

Believable3 Unbelievable22

He seems to be interested now though ed! Do you think he missed his chance? {Ed001's Note - probably, too much gobbing off to the press has put off most of the interest.}

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Aug 2013 23:02:32
ed have u seen the John henry comments do u think they have no choice but to make him stay now br and henry seem to have backed them self into a corner if they do sell now would have been better if they said nothen and just let him go imo {Ed001's Note - he has only said they won't sell to a rival for the top 4, but will let him go if they have a replacement. It is not really anything new is it? We always knew Arsenal would be unlikely to get him.}

Believable30 Unbelievable7

He also states we don't have time to find a replacement

Agree2 Disagree0

To be fair, he did specifically say Luis would be a Liverpool player on Sept. 3rd-

"I think the issue has been resolved now, " he said. "We have said 'no'. Luis will be a Liverpool player on September 3 [the day after the transfer window closes]."

I hope it's just posturing or perhaps a poor quotation, but based on some of the reactions I'm seeing there could well be a lot of hostility (again) against FSG if they sell Suarez as now people are expecting they won't. I think this was a dumb thing to say, personally.

Agree0 Disagree1

Not True Ed001 - Henry said "He won't be sold even if a foreign club comes in because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement, " AND ""It's not about finances. So late in the window. we can't replace him. So for football reasons we can't sell, and especially to Arsenal." {Ed001's Note - yes, so that is what I said, they would want a replacement to let him go. Nothing you have put says any different.}

Agree2 Disagree0

You guys are playing devils advocate. He can't exactly come out and say "Well he's for sale, but only for this price, to a team outside England, and if we have a replacement lined up." Did you not read what Suarez just said? Something like if Real came calling, they would be hard to turn down.

Agree1 Disagree0

JH might be mates with the Arsenal head guy. When it looked like Arsenal might be the only bidders and so have to part with 40M they started scraping themselves. They said to JH "look can you get us out of a hole here". JH makes his statement and the Arsenal board can say "ah well look we tried but they won't play ball!"

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed001 trying rather desperately to keep the rumour alive. {Ed002's Note - Whilst everyone is again dissecting every sentence, I would suggest that all of this is designed to force a transfer request to be handed in.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Positives from what Henry has said:
We won't sell to Arsenal (unless huge money say £50m cash)
We won't sell to anyone unless we can get someone else good in

Negatives from what Henry has said:
Suarez' price may have just been reduced for foreign clubs as we have reduced the market

Agree2 Disagree1

Sounds to me like the wording is chosen carefully to leave the door open to Real Madrid.

a) we won't sell to Arsenal
b) we won't sell unless we have a replacement
and reading between the lines.
c) we will sell to Real Madrid if Suarez hands in a TR and they give us a replacement in return.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Aug 2013 21:05:45
I think it would be dangerous for Henry to say Suarez will be a Liverpool player on the 3rd of September and then sell. If we do sell him we would doubt anything he says from then on. I've got faith in Henry, seems to me Suarez will be gone in January, _unless_ we are doing incredibly well in the league. I expect Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal to be right up there this season, it'll be incredibly tight {Ed002's Note - You need to register if you want to continue posting.}

hey eds, I read somewhere that cissokho has agreed personal terms with Liverpool but still waiting on whether the clubs wants him on loan or permanently.
is it true?

thanks for all the hardwork {Ed002's Note - A loan to buy was agreed but a cash deal would be preferred. Negotiation - it'll get resolved.}
