Two weeks ago every post on here contained the name Honda. This week it seems to be Suarez and Turan. Ed, who do you think it will be next week.

Also if KK is not afraid to throw Jonjo into an FA cup match against THEM, Surely it can't be too much longer until Suso makes his first team debut.

Would love to know Ed and Maccas views on Torres is his head on his next club is he committed etc and are there any factions and splits within the squad etc

Hope Kenny can get Torres pumped up again we need Nando Stevie G and Riena to build the new era.

Also Kelly top marks Now Riena has competition for first name on the teamsheet and great to see Agger playin he gives his all.

DONT BUY THE SUN

{editor: Torres committed his future to LFC, his current contract anyway.}

No crap lads my mate works at Manchester Airport and he saw Suares with two men in smart dress in the arivals lounge. They were then driven in a black mercedes executive car to where ever they were going. This all seems to be to much of a coincidence. And my mates a Walsall fan and isn't the type to bullsh* . GOD Please let him be on his way to Liverpool! ! ! ! !

Yeah it goes around. When one person says it, everyone follows. That's why I don't trust twitter rumors at all. I don't believe it. I think with the change in manager, wouldn't be any time to sign Suarez. He might come but I doubt it, also tottenham are sniffing around.

Of course Tottenham are linked to Suarez, they are linked to everyone we are linked to. Do they even have any scouts?? ?? ?

In response to. . . .

09 Jan 2011 21:08:28
Did anyone see Fergie on the touch line at all today? I didn't, or hardly like he normally is. . scared KK would make him look a fool, KK too bright for that whiskey guzzling clown who's only made to look good by Sky Sports and London media. Could be wrong but that's my thoughts.
Anyway after reading a few posts saying it was rubbish, give KK a break. . he's had probably 1 hour with the team since coming back from Dubia, anyway it looked loads better than previous games under RH, also taking into account being 1-0 due to diving and then 10 men so finishing the game 1-0 was not bad. the only way scum was going to score was by trying to dive again for another penalty!

* * * * * * * * * *

SAF hardly ever stands on the touch line he stays seated throughout the match, maybe the Ed clarify this? it sounds to me like sour grapes.

Ed. . . any chance of this being posted as my posts never seem to get through?

{editor: Every chance of it been posted.}

I m sure I heard ss say kk had an interview planned for tomorrow? New no 2? New signing?

()()

09 Jan 2011 23:15:20
Steve Clarke is the man as No2, is he coming to help out The King for a few months or could it have anything to do with him previously working closely with Villas Boas?

My money is on AVB to take over from the king in the summer.

I just get the feeling that nobody really knows whats happening in terms of transfer, someone mentions on here so everyone jumps on the bandwagon. The club keep their cards close to their chests, so its always hard to guess what they are going to come up with.

i have a quick point to make-
Why do we not know how much the new owners intend to spend on transfers, i am not expecting them to go mad splashing cash but it would be good to know where they stand. Are we going to be able to spend to keep up with the top teams or are we now not to consider ourselves a top side?

Hi people, havent heard to much on the liverpool transfers, theres abit of wishful thinking, if we do get the 35mil who would your signings be? for me i would like to see honda arrive at anfield he looks a quality asset, and has proved it on the big stage at the world cup 2010 for japan, also maybe taiwo of marseille he looks a good edition in at left back, would you like to see stephen ireland? maybe arda turan? ryan shawcross? am not to sure on suarez i don't think he would do it here imo, maybe benzema? now he to me is the partner for torres, maybe am also wishful thinking, possibly another central midfielder or right winger at most we will buy 4 players in the januray transfer window and maybe some loans, adebayor? have your say thanks

Matthew Thompson here called all my sources and yeah we 100% made a bid of 13 million pounds for Suarez.
That's all I know I expect us too pursue but don't believe the clown who said we've agreed a fee he may be right but I doubt it.
Also Kenny D has no intention of selling babel.

Ed where is all this Suarez stuff coming from and how would u feel having Phil Thompson as kennys number two {ed's note - originally the rumours were just wishful thinking, but now I am not sure if people are getting them from a similar source to Macca or if they are just passing on what Macca has said. As for Thommo, he is far too volatile for my liking, a top coach needs to be calmer and more patient.}

Re: the Steve Clarke rumour.
This originates from a terribly unreliable source, namely Graeme Beacroft on talksport. He said we were appointing a man who had won the premiership and Fa cup as an assistant at another prem side. People wrongly assumed he was talking about steve clarke at chelsea, but he never won the double. Beacroft was probably alluding to Ray Wilkins, but he is so unreliable it's not worth bothering with. It'll be either Rushy, Thommo or Sami. {ed's note - no wonder I can't find anyone I know who thinks Clarke is likely to be the number two! That pretty much rules out any chance of it happening, though my info is that no decision has been made, so any name mentioned is pure guesswork, which means it could turn out to be a lucky guess!}

()()

The romours for clarke to be number 2 came from s* tetalk.

Also I think meriels was poor today worst player on the pitch imo

Shelvy done well he seemed to pop up everywhere

I think kelly to stay right back and play johnson right wing , I honestly think it could work out like bale did

09 Jan 2011 21:59:05
Steve Clarke to be No. 2 is most likely. On the transfer front it's all guess work, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott Dann come in. We're in need of a tackling midfielder, winger & striker. My guess would be 1 of the 3 from abroad & the other 2 from PL. A. Young & Tiote would be my guess with Lukaku/ Van Wolfswinkle being lined up to help Torres. Also heard a rumour that Sissoko could make a return as part of Aquilani deal.

Ken Aguero's nephew, Charlie Aguero (currently playing LM for Altrincham West primary school under -7's) is reportedly Commolli's next big signig.
He's been scouting the lad since the summer (which I've just realised was before he was appointed), but one snag is the initial offer of a packet of sherbet lemons and a litre bottle of Pepsi has been rejected.
Altrincham's troubled start to the season means they are reluctant to let the young winger go, but media sources believe that if LFC can up their offer to a six pack of coke, the deal will be done before the window closes. You saw it here first.

I swear hes plays like Adam Johnson and hes only 15 outstanding prospect.one of my mates is a mate of one of the coaches there, we were talking about youth football and the money that kids go for and he said that man city celtic and rangers are looking at this lad.

With NESV looking to invest in young talent, i think we should sign Jack Grimmer (16) of aberdeen. He looks a fantastic talent and would not cost much more than 1mil (probably less). It seems the only other sides who are interested at the moment are bolton and blackburn, so we could easily get him

I live in Aberdeen and grimmer is a really good talent and will be good in the future but has a bit of an attidude problem but if that's sorted out he will be a good player one day:)

New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish insists he has 'no pre-conceived ideas' of players he'd like to bring in this month.

Just got that from skysports.com transfer clockwatch bit , seems interesting :)

about the suarez situation personally id love to have him at the club got a great scoring record but i read quotes from yesterday saying that he will remain at ajax until 2013 and that he wants to win a title with them , hopefully that's not the case ( i read it on goal.com dunno if that's a true statement from the player ) ed have you heard any news on suarez?

DLG {ed's note - it really doesn't matter what he says or wants, Ajax have to sell players or they are in trouble. Suarez is their most valuable asset, he will be gone as soon as someone matches their valuation. My info was that Jol quit because the club was hawking Suarez around Europe.}

Why does everyone think luis Suarez will sign for us, he committed his future to Ajax until 2013. . Torres has done the same for us, ending speculation about him. But we carry on with this Suarez business. . It won't happen, most likely sign wolfswinkel and marveaux

Ed I sort of understand why you dislike Suarez but if we are talking purely about footballing talent you have to rate him, also does anybody know if we have ever been linked with Lovren I like him a lot. Also how realistic are Santon, Coentrao and Turan {ed's note - yes, excellent player in the Eredivisie and did well for his country against weak opposition like Ghana, but he has never performed particularly well against top opposition for his country when I have seen him. That is probably why he is still in Holland rather than playing in Spain or England already.}

This is what Comolli said about the potential transfer of Suarez when questioned back in January:

“My feeling about it is that in this economic recession there are so many clubs that are in trouble abroad, more than England, ” said Comolli.

“These clubs are under enormous pressure to sell. So this January window could be a very different window from what we have seen previously.

“Players that we would never have thought would be available could be. So that's why we are working away, thinking that if there is the right opportunity we should do it. Strange things could happen.”

So although things may not be moving at breakneck speed I would be very surprised if we don't see some positive movement.

Suarez will be signing this week ' also trying to thrash out a deal for hazzard 'which would be a massive deal if it comes off.with a further loan signing this should add the creative spark that is needed & bring torres back from the slumber?this will allow these players half a season to bed in and with 2-3 further 1st team signings in the summer in won't be a case of all at once for the team to gell.NESV know these two windows are very important on the future strenghth of the lfc brand they have to act now.

How can Howard Webb be taken seriously. Remember a couple of weeks ago before the postponed Blackpool game it was reported that Webb had told the Blackpool players that they were to honest, even suggesting that Ian Evatt should have dived against a Tevez tackle against Man City.

Webb is a disgracefully Manc!

Hey, remember in the summer when Kenny was scouting Ola Toivonen? Well he really liked him but Hodgson thought he 'didn't fit the profile' (yet he thought that Konchesky an Poulsen did- nice one Roy(!)), so when Hodgson said no, Kenny wrote another report saying how good he was. Maybe now he is in the hotseat we might make a move. Personally, I think Suarez is better (albeit much more expensive), but I wouldn't complain if we got this guy. Good goalscorer and GOOD IN THE AIR which we desperately need. We also need a right-mid, NOT A LEFT-MID, we have Babel, Cole and Jovanovic down the left, but Kuyt seems to have lost his legs and his touch and Maxi isn't good enough.

As previously reported by Metro, the Ajax star is said to have told his agent to sound out potential suitors over a move in January - with Liverpool and Tottenham apparently registering their interest - after the departure of Martin Jol from the Amsterdam Arena compounded his current misery.

The Dutch giants have been in inconsistent form of late and - with Suarez currently serving a seven-match ban for biting an opponent - a number of Europe's top clubs have been alerted to his potential availability.

The 23-year-old is thought to be valued at around €27 million but - with Ajax deep in the financial mire - the Dutch club are expected to settle for a reduced sum.

Tuttomercato reported last month that Liverpool had 'made an offer' for Suarez and now, according to Goal.com, €20 million will be ‘enough' to bring him to Anfield this month.

However – despite reports that he would prefer a move to Anfield – Liverpool will have to fight tooth and nail with Tottenham for his signature.

Who is the right man for the manager's job in the summer?

Hiddink - Will he resign as manager of Turkey? Highly successful with PSV and a host of International teams.

Rijkaard - Took Holland to the Semi's of Euro 2000. Turned Barce into a football superpower again, but it could be argued he had the money and quality players in place already, bearing in mind Sparta Rotterdam were relegated under his command and his spell at Galatasaray was unsuccessful.

Villas Boas - Big risk for such a young manager, but has a very promising future.

Deschamps - Born winner, in his first managerial post with Monaco he won the French Cup, then took them to the European Cup Final, took Juventus back into Serie A and turned an average Marseille into champions in his first season.

These are the main contenders I seem to here about more often than anyone else. Does anyone has a preference other than the above mentioned and why?

Michael Laudraup - Took Getafe to the Copa Del Ray final and produced some fine performances in the UEFA Cup, doing well with Mallorca. Their 10th now, but a game in hand which could take them 8th and just 3 points off 6th.

Ed, pls post.

No-one pay any attention to G Beacroft on Talksport, this clown guarenteed that Nando and Stevie would leave last summer. . and that Woy wouldn't be sacked. Talksport is terrible for rumours. Guardian or echo the best place.

As for us, i don't think its that bad we won't have SG for the derby, we need to stop relying on him anyway.

As for rumours, unfortunately as much as Xabi loves LFC (on twitter he alays posts about us) he won't be coming back. Too important now to RM, but he would be top of anyones list. Elia put to bed the rumour we want him which his good, he is just a show pony. Scott Parker has always been on KK's wanted list, along with Turan. No defenders, one mid and attacker. Babel and Dalglish (his son Mark) said on twitter

Babel posted the picture of Webb with the message: "And they call him one of the best referees? That's a joke. SMH."

"SMH" is the abbreviation for "shaking my head" and Babel's attack will almost certainly lead to the FA intervening on the basis that he is alleging impartiality on the part of the man who refereed the World Cup final and was made an MBE in the Queen's New Year's honours list. An FA spokesman has confirmed they are aware of the incident and are looking into it.

Dalglish's son, Paul, also vented his feelings on Twitter, posting a mocked-up picture of Sir Alex Ferguson with his arm around Webb, again in a United shirt.

Dalglish junior wrote: "Howard Webb MBE. Manc of the Busby Era. I am not normally bitter, as you know, but it is different rules against them." In a separate tweet, he added: "Fergie has his puppet Howard Webb on a piece of string."

I have heard a slightly concerning rumour that Real Madrid have offered 20M for Gerrard in the summer but I severely doubt that he will take this offer. Also I have heard that Suarez and Turan will be signed soon. Suarez could be as soon as monday! (fingers crossed)

What do you think ed?

CL x {ed's note - personally I wouldn't be bothered if we did sell Gerrard for 20m, there are far more important things to worry about than one player. What matters more is getting some wide players in, we can't keep making do for the rest of the season.}

"Martin kelly was like a brick wall at right back- he should play more
We need another winger (preferably turan)"

Johnson does offer far more on attack than almost any fullback in the Prem. So either the rest of the midfield/ defence needs to be better organised to cover him, or if Kelly is played then the right winger needs to be faster and more of an attacking threat than Kuyt. .and too bad if he's not good at getting back to help at the back. Kelly and Turan could work.

If Howard Webb is England's best then god help us all. If I was a referee I'd be insulted.

Totally agree mate!

Howard Webb is guilty of 2 so called pens against Spurs for Man'ure. He's guilty of 2 so called pens against us for Man'ure.

My point is if this wasn't Howard (the Manc) Webb then the FA would have had him doing Championship games 18 months ago never mind another Man'ure game.

also ive read on the bbc website that we're interested in Romelu Lukaku i don't kno alot about the boy is he any good ?

also van wolfswinkle, shawcross an Coentrao

what do you make ov this ed ?

{editor: Torres has come out today and committed himself to Liverpool for the remainder of his contract. Lukaku has potential to be world class. Wolfswinkle I do not like, Coentrao would be a great signing and Shawcross would be good for backup.}

Newly installed caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish and Director of Football Damien Comolli have reportedly been busy drawing up plans for the January transfer window.

The duo are keen on making moves for Benfica full back Fabio Coentrao, Stoke City centre back Ryan Shawcross and Utrecht striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

Portuguese international Coentrao is attacting a lot of interest and is thought to be a player that Comolli rates very highly and given Benfica's poor showing this season, eight points behind leaders Porto, Liverpool may feel they can persuade the 22 year old wing back to push for a move.

Dutch international Ricky Van Wolfswinkel is a player that has interested the Merseyside club for a few months now and some sources suggest that an offer of around £8.5m was made for the Utrecht man and Liverpool appear willing to up that original offer in order to beat off interest from Napoli in the prolific Eredivisie striker.

Liverpool had been strongly linked with Stoke City defender Robert Huth but apparently his team-mate, and former Man United player, Ryan Shawcross is also a player the Anfield side is keen on bringing in to help stabilize an error prone defence.

Dalglish and Comolli will be looking to find ways to bring in realistic targets in January so as to help the club salvage something from the season.

They will also be looking to bring in players who are there for the long term and will therefore only be looking to buy players in the relatively early stages of their careers and these three fit that bill and would not require the club's owners to fork out excessive amounts of money in the process.

King Kenny has Henry over a barrel, to take on the LFC managers job he has asked for a transfer kitty, he has been given 30m, King Kenny is trying to get a couple of loan signings as well as 2 or 3 biggish names to try to revitalise Liverpool's campaign. Comoli agrees and has a list drawn up with Kenny's input . . got no names but I know LFC have some cash to splash.

Cant wait for the game today, with King Kenny in the dug-out, i think we will see the REAL Fernando Torres (who has publicy stated he will see out his contract - unless the club want to sell)

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Agger Aurellio

Mereles Lucas

Kuyt Gerrard Cole

Torres

Reina

Kelly Skrtel Agger Aurellio

Babel Torres

If you had the slightest understanding of how the search for new talent works you would know that Comolli is there to sift through the players put forward by the scouting staff in accordance with the player specifications laid out by the manager. The manager then has the last say on which players fit his style of play and vision for the team.

Dave Mc

And if you looked at the EPL and the successfull teams and the past successes which we have had, there has never been a figure like Comolli at any of those clubs - if you employ a manager then you employ a vision that manager has, not one which is subject to the vision and ideas of someone else and the way they want to set a team up and the way they want to play, . I thought Steve Mcmahon was a great player for us, Joey Barton is a player similar in style to McMahon ( just ask their John! ) would you have Barton over McMahon or vice versa - perhaps you can see that it is the idea of the individual we are employing as a manager not someone who would give us a generalisation of what we want in the player s that are signed

scousepower

Thanks for putting yourself out to prove my original post as correct. It would have helped your argument had you understood what it was I had said, also proof read your own comment to see if it makes any sense. Unfortunately it made no sense at all and proves just how small your understanding and knowledge of football is.

The role of the manager and scouting staff have increased incredibly since our distant days of continual success, therefore, managers are required to delegate tasks to other personnel. So, as above, Comolli is there to sift through the players put forward by the scouting staff in accordance with the player specifications laid out by the manager, who then has the final say who arrives to play in his team.

Thanks again Scousepower.

Both King Kenny and Comolli are interested in coentrao from benifica, he is young(22), fast and also a good defender.
I would expect to see konchesky leave definitely.
Coentrao, Honda and turan to come in.
Also don't be expecting Agger to be going now, Kenny is a big fan of him, expect skrtel and agger at the centre of our defence for the coming weeks.
Also we need a striker, Suarez? Aguero? Lukaku?

"Also I see it's being reported Agger has handed in a transfer request. Hilarious. Who would really want to leave now. Its just got very interesting indeed."

Posted a few times before on this subject - I would not bet against Agger being moved on in this transfer window, Whilst undoubtedly our best ball playing centre back his injury record counts against him. The club needs to cut the wage bill to restructure the squad, and if we continue to bring the top young talent to the club they need to see an opportunity to play.

Wilson is a left sided centre back, with great potential and was reprotedly a Dalglish recommended signing in the summer - Don't be suprised if he features in most of the games for the rest of the season - particularly if Carragher returns from fitness - kelly and wilson will need carragher's organisational ability to bed them in at centre back and right back. As such I wouldn't be suprised if the greek and skrtl are also moved on in favour of an english speaking organiser to cover carra and help these develop. Whilst the money would be on shawcross, cahill et al, I would edge my bets on someone like Richard Dunne as a short term option - Without him Micah Richards was clueless at centreback.

Hi Ed, love the site. . 1st time poster. What are your thoughts on Ever Benega and Pablo Hernandez as possibilities, as there have been numerous rumours in the UK and Spanish press about our interest over the last 3 or 4 months?
I've just watched some recent footage of them both and strongly believe that these two guys would be perfect for us. Benega's distribution from the middle 3rd is similar to that of Alonso's (strong statement I know) and Pablo Hernandez looks very quick, skillful and would also provide for the likes of Torres, Cole et al.
Fingers crossed for King Kenny's return today!

{editor: They would both improve the team no doubt.}

09 Jan 2011 10:05:42
Can confirm liverpool will not be signing arda turan as under hodgson it will still apply to king kenny that comolli is in charge of transfer dealings not the manager and comolli does not like arda turan because he lacks pace and strength and also honda will not be a mover in january but in the summer where a whole host of clubs will be vying for his signature the for runner in the race to sign honda is ac milan so we will have to fight hard for him but it is possible but i think we will sign french players looking at our scouting missions i think marveaux, gervinho will be our january signings as well as m'vila, pjanic.on the striker front there is a whole host of strikers being linked with us but i believe that either podolski, or negredo, or gomez

09 Jan 2011 09:38:42
Ok, top 2 targets should be honda and turan, now that kenny is in charge. a week ago i wouldve said elia but change of heart. turan is a much better player and honda is very talented. any deal for honda would most likely be agreed now after the asian cup which finishes pretty late in jan, so wed have to wrap up a deal pretty quick. japans tournament starts 2nite (here in australia) so id think honda will be focused on that, but still have the transfer rumours on his mind. what do u think ed? ?

Arda turan has to be a target. surely. ive read here b4 that kenny is an admirer of turan, and we all know of turans love for liverpool. i would think and some of u will disagree that turan will be a target for the summer, hopefully im wrong and we go for him now. wat do u think ed?

Somebody sayin kenny big fan of the younger players maybe this will mean pacheco, kelly , spearing will get a well deserved chance, also think we badly need 2 decent wingers. . im sorry kuyt mght run all day but he pulls out of 2 many tackles and the man couldnt cross his eyes. . Glenn johnson no wer near good enuf either right back or on wing. cash in now! Personly i would like to see us sign nzogbia, Turan, Honda in this window. . wat are the possibilities ed?

{editor: It could be possible, who knows?}

()()

09 Jan 2011 09:08:28
In support of the much maligned Glen Johnson. will someone please just try him on the wing. ! When he joined Liverppool he as quoted as saying Rafa told him he would make him a better player. I'm sure Rafa saw his overall potential and his defending frailties. We know Rafa was meticulous (to a fault) and always gave individual feedback to players and in Glen. I don't think he ever got enough time to develop the more defensive side of his game. So if he stays we need a quality defensive coach or we need to play him on the wing.
Also I see it's being reported Agger has handed in a transfer request. Hilarious. Who would really want to leave now. Its just got very interesting indeed.

I think one of the main things nesv will want to do is make sure that they don't lose money on players hence buying young. So say if lukaku costs 20mil nesv would be confident that if he wanted to leave later on they can recoup that initial fee and maybe more. So its only cost them his wages. U spend say 10mil on a 30yr old forlan when you come to sell him he's worth a couple of mil. In recent yrs I only remember us making money on alonso on everyone else we've had to sell at a lose.

Am I the only one who still thinks that Babel has something to offer? So many people have said to sell him yet he hasn't been given a fair chance in his preferred position since we have bought him.
I think if Kenny can bring Turan in, which I strongly believe he will try to do, we have a good enough team to move up to 4th.
Reina

Johnson Agger Skrtel Aurelio

Kuyt Gerrard Meireles Turan

Torres Babel

With Kelly, Cole, Jovanovic, Ngog as replacements its minimal money out, 12m approx, yet could seriously work. I believe between Benitez and Hodgson, Babel's confidence was destroyed and I think King Kenny might just get the best out of him.
What do you reckon Ed?

{editor: You have made some good points, I do beleive that we need a world class striker to partner Torres though.}

My uncle knows a steward at Anfield. He told him that the word with the staff is that NESV are willing to spend big money only on the best young talents in football, Comolli has 1 job and 1 job only find these young players who will be the next Gerard, Torres. Targets right now are: Lukaku (st) 17 - £20m . Santon (rb) 18 - £10m . Sahko (cb) 20 - £12m. M'Bia (cm) 21 - £15. Just what i was told.

Theres two players who i remember dalglish liked and that's lukaku only 17/ 18 hes the new drogba plays for anderlecht, spurs had a 17.5m bid turned down so maybe 15m plus jovanovic and keep him til summer we could get him.also arda turan only 23 can play lm, rm, cam, lw, rw quick skillfull plays for galatasary where insua is on loan.so maybe tell them keep insua plus 10m.we are need of a lm for defo and i only see 2-3 signings.DORSET RED

I think llorente will not come to this club
Some1 told me that he is very homesick and has to stay with his family in Spain(Ed?)
Also King kenny would love to bring Arda Turan over to Liverpool, i checked out his wikipeida and found that at the end he says "I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO L.F.C SOMEDAY"
did you hear about this Ed?
Rob The King

{Editor Note: I've never heard of Llorente being home-sick, isn't that Navas? And it is true that Arda Turan would love to come to us. Many times in the last two years he has come out and virtually begged Liverpool to try and sign him.}

()()

09 Jan 2011 01:30:23
Hi ed - good to see the king finally back on his throne.just watched his i/ v on sky sports.the man oozes class. appears confident and has what roy hasn't - a presence. win lose or draw tomorrow the main thing is i am sure the performance will be great. don't be surprised to see the best performance this season. for once there will be somebody in the dressing room that stevie will be in awe of. never mind thompson and rush i hope he get's carra in now as no 2.the other thing to bear in mind is that a lot of the other managers in the prem will now be a bit concerned as they realise they are pale imitations of kenny. fergie never got the better of him psychologically.sorry if i sound too optomistic - but why not.everybody get behind the team and let the good times return. stu

{Editor Note: I have reservations about Jamie Carragher becoming a coach/manager. I'm not quite sure what it is though.}

()()

09 Jan 2011 01:28:23
{Editor Note: I'm not saying he'll lose his strength, but putting yourself through the optimum levels physically in the PL week in week out at only 17/ 18 is simply not good for an athlete long-term. He would feel the effects when he's older because his body wouldn't get a chance to grow. I would be pleased if he came, but I personally wouldn't play him on a regular basis.}

True but maybe buy him for 12 million then loan him back for a season, and then that fee would rise if he does good performances. I would prefer us to get Suarez or Mata. Both are proven and would cost about the same.

Hi ed not a rumour but a fact. nesv have signed carl crawford for the red sox last month his contract is worth $142 million over 7 years which is about 20 million a year. so guess my point is why do people think they won't spend big on us.

{Editor Note: That's about £90m. If we wanted a top class player long-term there's a good chance he would cost less than that when both transfer fee and wages are combined.}

{Editor Note: He seems to have great potential. But I'm not keen on playing players so much at such a young age. You have to remember that he is only 17/ 18 and his body isn't fully developed yet. Playing him too much when his body is developing will lead to problems in the future, especially in a physical league like the PL - just look at Michael Owen for example. If he does sign, we'd be best giving him games here and there and letting his body develop. It will benefit him long-term.}

Difference is that his strength is that he has a lot of power. He won't lose that in the future if he stays fit. With owen, he only had pace. When he lost his fitness, he lost his pace. Similar thing happening to Torres right now.

{Editor Note: I'm not saying he'll lose his strength, but putting yourself through the optimum levels physically in the PL week in week out at only 17/18 is simply not good for an athlete long-term. Ed sick of reading wish lists ie mata and aguero which to any sensible person just aint gonna happen esp in January, best we can hope for is someone like santon cos he isn't getting games at inter and maybe a winger, probably not Elia because its been all over the papers which tells me it is agent talk, but a potential marquee signing for the summer someone like negredo who is class, are you pessimistic as I am about new signings in january?

{Editor Note: I don't think we'll get Aguero, but I do know that Mata would be keen on a move to Liverpool if we went in for him. It was little over a year ago when his agent and representatives were telling Benitez that he wants to sign for Liverpool and that he'd be perfect as he is mature, doesn't need high wages and only wants to play, that he has a university education etc. etc.! }

Ed who is the winger you'd want at Liverpool?

{Editor Note: Juan Mata for me mate. Absolutly adore him as a player.}

Kenny will keep the job if he does well so i think nesv will give him and camolli some money other wise ther breaking promises

How much Ed would u say llorente turan and mata would cost is there a chance we still have about. 15 mil from monster mashc if so we surely could afford mata with that sell babble for 9 mil and put 3mil towards turan 12 mil and buy llorente for about 15 mil which would mean an outgoing of 18 mill is that to much to ask the new owners for

{Editor Note: I don't think we're a sell to buy club anymore. Of course selling will help, but its not important. I think we could get Mata for about £15m in the Summer of not less as he will only have a year left on his deal. Turan would cost no more than £12m, and Llorente would cost atleast £25m.}

()()

09 Jan 2011 00:30:08
{Editor Note: Would be outstanding buys. However I think Llorente could be off to Real Madrid. And Mata seems to be wishful thinking.}

— — —
Isn't playing for Madrid treated with contempt in Basque Country? Llorente seems like a loyal lad, staying at Bilbao all these years, I'd be surprised if he moved there.

Ed, any input?

{Editor Note: There are a select few who don't like it but I don't think it is that big an issue.}

I would like to see saurez turan and toinvinon(dunno how its spelt) join also a decent left in all respect to konchesky i don't think he is good enough and what this bulls*it about huth joining he is no where near betta than carra agger skrtel or kyrigkos that would be a waste of money i think we shud sell kuyt for as much as possible play young talented kelly in RB and push johnson (Paul Merson is a t*at for he sed just coz he made 2 mistakes but i think he is more attack minded player) and we should give a cole more of a chance just give him a bit more time he should get bak to his best and if we can land a big named striker aka saurez torres's confidence will be sky high. honda maybe a good addition aswell and whoever mentioned alonso good call that was the biggest mistake we ever made y sell the best CDM in the world

Ok if not llorente maybe benzemar if he is off to real Madrid or maybe adebyore I no u don't rate him Ed but a good target man probably get him on loan as they just signed dezko and got a point to prove he can still cut it with the big boys

{Editor Note: I rate Adebayor. But I'd only take him on a loan deal. When he was at his best for Arsenal he was a pollution for opposition defences, and if we could give him first-team football alongside Torres I'm sure we'd give opposition defences something to think about.}

Liverpool have been linked with a 20 million pound move for Romelu Lukaku
I think he would be a great signing what do you think ed?

Source the mirror and people

Just been to Q&A session in my home town. Jan Molby was the speaker.

He believes that Didier Deschamp is NESV's main target in the summer.

However I'm sure that Kenny will be looking to get the job on a full time basis.

I asked Jan what he would think about being part of Kenny's back room team. He would def be interested.
He also believes we need two new fullbacks.

I would have to agree.

Any opinions ed?

{Editor Note: I think atleast one winger is important. Torres is getting little to no service. The full-back positions need looking at but Insua is coming back soon so I would be happy to make-do until the Summer.}

The most important position Liverpool need to fill is LB. Also, A new striker to partner torres, preferably good in the air and a proven LM. This is why I think the three signings KK will make this January will be;
1) Santon
2)Llorente
3)Turan

{Editor Note: I think our priority should be a winger to be honest.}

According to the sunday mirror Liverpool are to go all out to sign 17 year old Lukaku from Belgium. I know Chelsea are favourites but it would be great to sign some genuine talent.
Although sunday mirror also says real Madrid are to sign Gerrard. .

God you have to love the sunday papers!

Aiden Mcgeady is on his way to Liverpool for a medical after they were given permission to talk with the player. Personal terms are a formality. Expect an announcement by 14 Jan.

I know one thing about the transfers for sure and that is nobody's knows who will sign in the upcoming weeks because Hodgson's been sacked and Kenny's only just came in. Comoli might have some targets but ultimately it is Kenny that's has the final decision.

NOW is the time to make a marque signing - what world class player could resist being handed the No. 7 shirt by the King?

09 Jan 2011 00:03:25
Santon, (this being an estimated guess) seems like the type of player who we are interested in, young, promising, versatile and good enough to fit straight into the starting 11,
he can play leftback and rightback, like he did a few years ago against the scum in the champions league, where he played left back, can see him coming in this transfer window,

Kenny will have to make do with squad hes inherited for rest of season. Will be given little or no money to invest in squad. Saurez goin to spurs. NO BIG NAMES INTERESTED IN PLAYING FOR LIVERPOOL because other clubs can offer then champions league football.

{Editor Note: Champions League football isn't everything when a player is deciding whether to play for a club or not.}

Ed wot do u think about turan llorente and mata
Pepe
Johnson
Kelly
Agger
Aurelio
Gerrard
Mierles
Turan
Mata
Torres
Lorente
Then in the summer buy a cb and lb

{Editor Note: Would be outstanding buys. However I think Llorente could be off to Real Madrid. And Mata seems to be wishful thinking.}

Reds need to sell first to buy.
Babel, Johnson 22 million & then 15 million added by nesv.
Remove wasted wages first policy

Liverpool Linked with a bid of £15 rising to 20 with ad ons, also Pablo Hernandez of Valencia!

I personally would be delighted if we signed these 2 however didn't Lukaku say he wanted to finish school in Belgium before he moved clubs? {ED?}

PS. we don't know what to expect from NESV/ FSG, as lots of people on this site jumped the gun and when they didn't sack roy straight away started calling them G&H mkII, i did say on here a day or 2 back that they wouldn't be able to sack him straight away before they made sure of a replacement.

{Editor Note: I don't think we'll get him. I think he prefers other clubs.}

Ed, I keep hearing that KK rates banega highly but where exactly is that coming from? Everyone knows about Turan and that seems like a definite buy at this point. Saw Turan play before the world cup when turkey played the usa and would be ecstatic if we swooped him up

{Editor Note: I'm not sure mate. Apparantly we were close to signing him in the Summer, so maybe Kenny had a hand in that. But Kenny wanted Turan at Liverpool and Hodgson turned him down. Turan would love to move to us, and would cost no more than £12m.}
