Liverpool want to sign up Barcelona ace Bojan for a fee of around £3 Million.

Believable24 Unbelievable128

Think it's a bit of a stretch to still call Bojan an 'ace'

Would be a great signing for 3 million or sure.Would back Brendon to get the best out of him!

A guy at work is a keen Southampton fan, and he seems to think that they are interested in both Lucas and Borini. They would like to see whether they are an option that may sweeten any Lovren deal, who they really don't want to lose.

hi Ed002, thank you for your valuable info. I have a question for you. do you know are Liverpool still trying to strike a deal for lovren. thank you

Believable26 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I do yes. But price is looking like an issue.}

We should not go above £20M for him as for that price there are better options but defence is where we need strengthen now and I hope we get Moreno as left back is our main problem.

Would Southampton be interested in taking Kelly, Wisdom or Ilori on loan for the season as part of the Lovren deal eds?

Agree4 Disagree0

I'm sure there must be alternative centre backs, £25m is a joke. We buy players high and loan out players when the clubs have no intention of following up with the purchase. What kind of transfer reputation must we have?

Agree2 Disagree2

Ed I think there should be an independent company who do player valuation to give a fair price just like u get some to do with your property otherwise this ffp rule means nothing because player prices r still sky rocket? what do u think mate?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - That is not going to happen - no clubs would agree to it.}

Ed do you think the price issue will be resolved or will we stick to our guns on a price?

Baz

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know Baz.}

ED thank you for your reply. I really like lovren as a player, he is one of the best young cb's. are we far from asking price. I know you don't like to discuss finances

Agree1 Disagree0

For £25mill I think we could get a top class proven CB and not a 1 season PL player and I'm not being disrespectful to lovren I really like him but not at that over the top price think the young lad form France that is at RM would be a better buy but will cost a little bit more
Any other idea's thanks Ed

Agree3 Disagree1

10 Jul 2014 00:26:04
Éder Álvarez Balanta a lot cheaper and better than lovren and who ever said caulker lol like he said if he was good enough we would have got lovren 12months ago midtable player lovren with a overpriced money and he isn't a lfc player so he can be slated wow you have no kidea your clueless

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi EDs
If a deal can't be reached with Southampton, have we any other Center Back targets. If Yes, who?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Moreno is out for moths so that interest has gone.}

09 Jul 2014 13:21:21
Ed002 if I may ask after the posisble aquisitions of Morkovic and Lovren I would expect that the 'ins' would be completed. I understand that these players cost more than just transfer fees involved. I saw you explained a lot of it in detail in the past.

Can we expect 3 or 4 players to be moved on in order to bring some of the running costs down?

Is there a possibility of any more investment coming into the club from anywhere? I understand that naming rights will take a small portion of the fee for ground work but with what you have said about rising debt there must be some idea to bring it down? Or is it just hinging on CL every season?

Believable7 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - The intention remains to bring in a left back. Players will be leaving. I don't know what you mean about "investment" or what you are expecting.}

09 Jul 2014 12:25:17
Hey ed, you beautiful monster! Very dodgy rumours emanating from Spain that Real are looking to do a deal for Griezmann, but Monaco and Liverpool also have representatives! Have there been any updates on that front, or simply the usual wild spanish rumors?
Also, are Roma (another favorite club of mine) looking to bring in Shaquiri? If the new contract with Bayern is off, could LFC also go back into the running?

Believable5 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any Liverpool involvement in what is happening with AG. Roma are talking with the representatives of XS and I would imagine Liverpool having put a further offer in for Markovic that any thoughts about Shaqiri have gone.}

Eds just checking have Benfica accepted our offer?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but I suspect the latest offer will be acceptable.}

I can confirm that LFC are not interested in me.

Thanks,

Agree8 Disagree3

I just don't understand why we're prepared to pay so much for Markovic and not buy Shaqiri who's proven at the highest level and available for less money. Madness

Agree0 Disagree7

Agree Badger. Shocking. Shaqiri has shown he is top level. Such a shame. In fact what is worse is he seems to be £5m cheaper. Just what we need to complete Lovren or Moreno

Agree0 Disagree3

As I understand it he may well sign a new contract with bayern munich so thus switch of interest and i'm glad we did because this boy is quality and ed01 mentioned how shaqiri is not as imposing on big matches and very inconsistent.

Agree1 Disagree0

Given time,Marcovic will be a far better and more valuable player than Shaquiri.

Morning

Question for Eds 1 if you are about mate?

Which club, did Barca approach yesterday evening soliciting bids for Alexis Sanchez?

I know it was not LFC, however it would suggest that the Arsenal deal has not been 100% agreed just yet (Fee and terms)

is thare a small iota of possibilty the LFC could still be invloved in a transfer?

Thanks in advance Eds

Believable2 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - I believe it was back to Juve to see if they were willing to up their offer.}

Eds, would Barce prefer to sell him to Juve?.Or trying to create a bidding war?

Do Barce still owe Arsenal cash Fabregas deal (Money talk I Know - but I don't want to know figures)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is too late now.}

09 Jul 2014 11:47:28
After Brendan came out with the quote about only adding "quality" to the squad this window, how do you feel about the signings individually? To me, Lallana is a safe bet albeit overpriced, but Lambert, as usefull as he will be is not "quality" and Can and Markovic are still very very raw. Would be great to have you opinion on this subject. Thanks Ed. P.s . Appreciate all the hard work you guys do, its great to have a site that doesn't just pander to what people want to hear.

Believable6 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - You should not believe everything you hear from managers. The club are looking to improve the squad and Lallana was always a firm target. Can will be seen as a long-term buy. Lambert will I suspect fill the role played by Aspas. Assuming the Markovic deal can be done, much is expected of him in the future. There remains every chance a LB will come in, a CB may arrive, and an offer has been made for Origi. Whether interest in Huntelaar is followed up or not I don't know.}

Personally think Lambert will be a great buy for us. Can is a quality player too, I expect both to be pushing for a regular place in the first team next season.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ok Ed, So Can, Markovic and Origi are for the future, so who are the players for now, .
Also, Will Lallana play in starting 11 and in what position?
Finally, If Sturidge gets injured (he has been known to get injured)are we confident the Lambert will get the goals we need until Sturidge comes back.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is Borini as well. And there is interest elsewhere as I keep saying.}

Lambert - Good squad / backup striker. He's a much better option than Aspas.

Can - Only seen him on Youtube, so can't really pass judgement.

Markovic - Pacey, skilful, massive potential. Suits our style down to the ground.

Lovren - Not signed yet, but I rate him highly. Much better positional sense than Skrtel. I think he would be perfect alongside Sakho.

I still think we lack another top class forward, be it a striker (Huntelaar or Higuain) or another wide player (Shaqiri or Griezmann) to challenge for the title again, but we should be in the reckoning for a top four spot, come next May.

Agree3 Disagree0

Is the interest only in huntelaar?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - And Origi.}

Lambert is a proven premiership player to replace Aspas.
Can is very useful in midfield going forward or holding back, he will replace either Leiva or Allen this window - and is also a potential replacement for Stevie G who has lost the power going forward thesdays.
Lallana can also cover that forward role, as well as wide and midfield, so it gives an extra option for all those extra games played. Origi is also being looked at for that purpose, to pad out the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am surprised every time I hear Sakho getting praised (referring to Dalglish loyalists comment et all).
Every time I watched him last year I thought his name should actually be 'Sack of'.

Agree0 Disagree3

Any real interest in Diafra Sakho Eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Markovic medical tomorrow, bertrand and origi are done deals! Unfortunately lovren will stay at southampton! Shame, as I think he's class! Thought I would share what I know to be correct!

Believable10 Unbelievable74

Shame about lovren but oh well and Bertrand not great but he will be an out and out lb not a rb playing there, what about any strikers to replace ls?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 12:11:32
Lovren will not be a Southampton player next season, not saying he'll be a Liverpool player either, his head has been turned and he will move.

Agree4 Disagree1

God I hope not. Bertrand. Wow when there are so much better LBs
Need Lovren and Moreno or Blind. We are not going to replace 31 league goals plus all the assists and penalties etc
All we can do is improve defence and it's not happening

Agree0 Disagree1

Bertrand is a downgrade from Enrique. Hasn't kicked on at all and looked poor at villa.

Agree1 Disagree1

No offence intended but this seems very unreliable info as Origi himself has come out today and said he hasn't decided on his future yet and will take 2 weeks to contemplate.

I'll take him.

Agree3 Disagree2

I think i'd be happy for him to return IF the price was right which I don't see

Think he hasn't been great with Chelsea because he's been played in a way that he has his back to goal 9 times out of 10 - With us it was the other way around with Stevie pinging him balls behind defenders

Agree1 Disagree0

I feel sorry for Fernando, he will look back on his career with some big regrets.

Red Rum

Agree2 Disagree0

Cannot see him doing that Red! He left Liverpool and broke our hearts at the time but he has won big at Chelsea all be it he hasn't played at the standard he was at with us nor is he loved/adored as he was with us. regrets I don't think he will have any, cups won and money in the bank job done.

Anyone looking to buy Varane, name seems to be gone a little quiet of late.

Thanks.

09 Jul 2014 10:02:22
morning ed, s fantastic job your all doing as always thanx for all your hard work but any ideas when suarez has gone what top striker/strikers are in the line to replace him I know we have lambert sturridge and borini but if we are to stay in the champions league and try and win the premiership then surely we are going to need another atleast 1 top striker to replace suarez now sanchez has chosen arsenal or so sly sports are saying this morning cheers ed, s

Believable1 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - Huntelaar or Origi perhaps.}

Have to admit that underwhelming would be the politest way to describe selling Suarez and replacing with Huntelaar or Origi, Huntelaar being past it with no pace or skill and certainly can't cut it at the top level, whereas Origi is too raw plus his finishing is not exactly composed and I don't see that either can bring the 31 goals and 10+ assists that Suarez brought and I've seen or heard nothing to suggest different. Origi could be an important player in the future but to be thrown into a new league at a higher level and expectations isn't fair on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Morning Eds,

The Mirror are reporting this morning that Spurs are looking to hijack the Origi deal. Most other media sources are stating we're in advanced talks and BR will talk to the player this week. I've looked through the search function and cannot find the answer to the following question.

Do you have any info on whether we have agreed a fee with Lille and been given the green light to discuss terms with the player?

Thank you

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean by "advanced talks" but Liverpool has made it clear they would like to buy the player. His club do not want to sell but would consider a deal that includes him being loaned back for a year.}

I don't know what "advanced talks" mean either, Ed. It's the phrase the papers are using hence my question. So other than making it clear to Lille we would like to buy him even if loaning back, do you know if we've agreed a fee, as is being reported, or have talked to the player directly.

Many thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any talks with the player. A number of clubs have approached Lille and a deal could be done.}

09 Jul 2014 11:22:01
I read this morning on the Belgian Canvas teletext that Origi has told TV Limburg that he has had several offers and wishes to choose the one where he will develop better as a player and a person. He expects to decide within the next two weeks. Let's hope that he makes the right choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted the other day that this deal was not as "done" as being reported.

We have had an offer accepted but no talks with the player as of Monday. RM, I was told, would be making a bid and now it looks like Spurs have entered the fray too.

It also looks likely other clubs have made offers for the player and he will take time to decide his future while talking with his representatives, family and friends.

Hi eds I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen the rumours of yaya toure open to Liverpool move but is there any shred of truth to this that I can pin all my hopes on until deadline day and then crucify Ian Ayre for being a bell end when we don't sign him?

Believable8 Unbelievable24

{Ed001's Note - where would the money come from??}

Ed01 without discussing money did we not get a fair bit for reaching top 4 etc?
If we sell Suarez for say £60 million do you think that is what we will be given to spend?
Or would we likely be given the money we received for reaching top 4 also?
maybe not all of it!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we haven't got that yet, we are spending it before we have it.}

Suarez.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you don't understand finances do you? It wouldn't be enough.}

Sale of suarez? I'm guessing from that reply that we can safely say absolutely zero chance?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - people seem to think that every penny we get from the sale of Suarez can just go back into the coffers and forgetting all the other fees that have to be paid from it. Then they are forgetting that Yaya Toure's wages would cost more than we will receive from the sale of Suarez, let alone transfer fee and signing on fee.}

Wouldn't the sale of Suarez free up £200k per week in wages which could potentially be spent on yaya though? So the opportunity cost isn't that great right? Even if he demanded £250k per week that's an net additionally spend of ~2.5mill p.a., which is affordable.

Personally don't think we'd go there though, too much money for a 31 year old (even if he's world class), any money we spent on transfer fees we wouldn't get back, so doesn't make sense financially. Plus he's liable to throw a strop and force a move, like he's doing now.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Lallana, Can, Lambert, Markovic, a LB etc playing for free?}

No way are we in the market for that kind of player

Agree2 Disagree1

Moses, Alberto and Cissoko wages will be freed up and any other loaned out.

There is Borini, Aspas, Assaidi, Reina, lucas, suso and agger and suarez which is a very large pot indeed (even if not all are actually sold).

You have a net spend for 25-30m under FSG historically per season.

Champs league money (who knows how much will go into transfer pot)

And the Konoplanka Xmas money 20m+ that was not spent.

Maybe this is championship manager logic but I believe a lot of money will be spent, if a lot of the above happens, in the next 3 transfer windows.

Don't see Yaya Toure happening due to high resale policy and astronomical wages.

Really gutted with Sanches. If true, Arsenal has pulled off a great signing. Our loss and their gain is comparable to Van Persie to Man Utd. let's see what happens.

Rant over.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is just nonsense sorry.}

09 Jul 2014 10:50:55
Please don't use phrases like oppourtunity cost if you don't know what they mean.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed that Lallana & co. won't be playing for free but potentially that is recoverable through player sales (if not through transfer fees then through the wage variance). If not the gap could be closed by the windfall from Champions League football; to be competitive next year we are likely going to need to increase spending.

I believe we will make a 'marquee' signing off the back of Suarez's departure, it jut won't be a 31 year old centre mid, probably a striker. I wouldn't classify any of the players we have signed thus far in this category.

The thing is, we all said that our defence should be priority this summer. Therefore, I would prefer us to bring in top quality defenders.

A lot of people on this page slating Bertrand, I don't understand why. He's a solid defender and available for a reasonable fee and I'm sure Brendan can the best out of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

@emanuel, you had to google search Bertrand.

@Om28 - is he any better than what we already have?

Agree0 Disagree0

It has been suggested on this site that Enrique could be sold if an acceptable offer comes in. Personally I'd like to see him stay. Flanagan on the other hand is a right back who filled in at left back due to Cissokhos injury last season. Johnson at right back with Flanagan as cover and Enrique at left back with Bertrand as cover, I'm ok with that
