A couple of posts on Suarez have stated a player may be included in the deal such as Giovinco from Juventus, but having read that Madrid are willing to offer Jese Rodriguez as part of another deal surely he would be worth looking at by the club if Suarez was going to go to Madrid, in my opinion he is a better prospect then Tello. Any chances Eds? {Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

Believable8 Unbelievable44

Would Real let Morata leave as part of a deal?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah they will end up with another Nunez, great!

ChrisE

Agree0 Disagree0

Real Madrid can just do one, the bit part players they are offering are just toilet. {Ed002's Note - Don't be too shocked to see an offer go in to Liverpool during this week. I understand that further discussions have taken place between the representatives of Suarez and Real Madrid and that a number of agreements have been reached.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Juventus will not be offering any players as part of the deal.

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember Owen and Nunez? It should be a player of our choosing.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the people saying yes another Nunez, Jese Rodriguez is a fantastic prospect for anybody who has seen him will see that, Morata also looks a good player. Ed002 you say a number of agreements have been reached is that with Suarez himself or have the club reached agreements as well and do any players look as if they could be coming in part of the deal? Cheers for the constant updates {Ed002's Note - Between RM and his representatives and agents.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally believe that if we could get jese as a part exchange that would be good business one of spains brightest prospects from the euro 2012

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you can forget about Tello as he plays for Barca, and with Neymar signed they won't be going after Suarez.

Toastie

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you are right Ed002 that there will be an offer, just hope we only accept one on our terms not theirs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex4 you said the word "prospect", that's exactly why we should say no dice unless they offer either £60m or £30m plus Alonso and Ozil. Do you not remember Sinama Pongolle and LeTallec? The saviours of French football? They were good prospects but didn't make it, we would be losing a world class player and getting less in return, I am glad you are not negotiating for us that's all I can say! Ed002, as someone who does come out with some good info do you know if RM. are looking at part ex and which players they are likely to offer? {Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I was wondering how RM can have reached agreements with Suarez and his agents atm. I may have missed something but have Madrid made an official bid that matches the figure required to be able to talk to him? Or is this a case of them just assuming that Liverpool have to sell to them? Thanks in advance for any light that you may be able to shine on this. {Ed002's Note - Read it again please.}

E. D's you wouldn't happen to know any details concerning Luis Alberto would you? I hear that we've agreed personal terms but haven't reached an agreement on a fee just yet. Is this because of the agreement between Barca and Sevilla?

Also why do Barca not appear keen on him? He looks like a fairly capable footballer with vision and intelligence to match even the biggest of stars.

All of this info is coming from wildly different sources though so I have no idea what is true and what is just a plain fabrication.

Also any development on the Aspas front? Are there still problems with his agent (Although from what I can gather it's not an agent which represents him, how the hell does that even work?)

Thanks for all your time and patience E. D's {Ed002's Note - Read the posts - what I know is there.}

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Its funny why barca don't rate him hope its in the same way inter milan didn't rate couthino could be another gem from rodgers

Hi editors,
The rumours about Eriksen has been very inconsistent recently. Can I ask if the interest in him is still strong at this point of time? And if Rodgers might make a move for him this transfer window? Thanks.

Regards,
SLWW {Ed001's Note - nothing has changed, it still looks like he has no interest in joining us.}

Just heard Swansea have now targeted Sterling on a season long loan due to missing out on Aspas! Expect a lot of the youth players to be loaned out this season! Cheers PDLFC

Believable30 Unbelievable50

Don't be silly, sterling will play more games than last year for us. he has proofed he can cope with the prem. so I say play the boy if fit

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was up for it I think that would b a good move for a season. Don't think he will play regularly next season as the team will be better equipped with players and we are not in Europe so less opportunties

Daniellambretta

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sceptical still. Got a ways to go yet till he is the finished artical.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have I miss read this? why an earth would we loan players out after missing out on a player. surly if we was to sign aspas then just maybe we would consider loaning certain players out. sterling will not be loaned out

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is definitly part Of are squad next season. but I think suso loan to swansea would be perfect at least till jan anyway because all he needs is games and I don't think he will get that many as were not in europe.

Ynwa

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't think so but I think it would be best for his development, with the players we bring in this season I would think he would get less minutes. But as for real wingers we have Downing and Sterling, Downing will go I assume leaving with only Sterling for the sake of Depth I think we will keep him this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

> Have I miss read this? why an earth would we loan players out after missing out on a player. surly if we was to sign aspas then just maybe we would consider loaning certain players out. sterling will not be loaned out

I think the post is saying Swansea were in for Aspas too and missed out so they want Raheem on loan.

Personally I think this would be a fantastic loan if we want him to develop and can't give him the game time. They can take Suso and Shelvey too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone else think. That not being in europe isn't such a. bad thing. We wouldn't have many games but still concentrate on the vital ones. To get us back in CL
Sterling shouldn't be loaned. Specially to an epl rival.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to say, I think letting Sterling go on loan would be a great idea. We are clearly looking to strengthen that area of the team, and it would be very good for him to get a full season of Premier Leage football under his belt. Just look at what it did for Sturridge and Wlishere at Bolton.

Same goes for the likes of Suso and Shelvey

How realistic is the signing of Lamela? {Ed002's Note - Lamela will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Believable18 Unbelievable47

Believe this rumour has taken legs once it became clear Saints were looking at him, and exploring the situation with Roma.
Whilst we did manage to sort out the complicated ownership for Ramirez, this one could be beyond any English club.

Agree0 Disagree0

But ed30 said he expects it to happen? {Ed030's Note - When,I have never said that. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed030 said he would like him to join not that he will join.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame though Ed, we know him and Borni play well together, it would also go some way to pleasing some of the fans when Suarez leaves.
I guess it comes down to if we are allready spending the suarez cash on the players were linked with now, or if that's going to be extra.
Borini, Sturridge, Aspas, Lamela with Suso, Courthinio and alberto behind to pick from, all very young but very talented. {Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with money.}

09 Jun 2013 18:18:21
Hello Eds,
a lot of people mentioning Lamela and Mkhitryan as players to buy if Suarez leaves. While I know of our interest in Mkhitryan, I don't see Lamela as a realisitic buy for us. So wanted to ask you do we still hold an interest in georginio wijnaldum?

I know we were interested before he signed for PSV. He could be an excellent buy for RW and should be available for around 15-20 million. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Believable6 Unbelievable21

Wijnaludum 15-20m? Maybe 5-10m! he's been crap since he joined PSV and one good U21 tournament doest triple his value!

I was wondering if one of the eds knew anything regarding interest in Matheus Biteco of Gremio? There was an article by Sambafoot regarding us scouting him but do any of the eds have any info on him.

Also I was wondering if we held any interest in Geoffrey Kondogbia of Sevilla? They are in poor financial state and he is a quality DM. There was talk of 2 or more PL clubs having an interest in him.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Bitco I can't help with.

Kondogbia only moved last summer but Juventus would like to take him in the summer and Begiristain has said he is interested in the player and feels that the club can work with him to be a long term replacement for Yaya Torre. Monaco has asked about his availability whilst Real Madrid are looking to a deal for him that could see a player, Jese Rodriguez, included in the transaction on a loan, sale, or sale to buy back deal.}

Thanks ed. Much appreciated.

Agents - The latest episode to stoke my ire is Aspas. There have been so many examples of agents popping up asking for a cut as they "once held the player's hand crossing a particularly dangerous road". We have seen extortionate agents fees paid in this country (ourselves being a prime example) and reports of some rather ethically questionable behaviour. I recall John Henry referring to it as like being in the Wild West. Coming from tightly regulated US ownership, that's understandable.

My question for anyone that knows Eds or otherwise - Are there plans in place to tighten regulations around agents? I seem to remember either the PL or the FA doing something, but clearly something needs to happen globally.

JF {Ed002's Note - One of the problems is that "agents" or "representatives" will tell a club that they can broker a deal for a player when they have no contract to represent that player. Another is a player who was previously represented by an agent can find that agent subsequently making a claim on his transfer when they may not have had contact for years. Another is an ex-employee of an agency making a claim for work he previously did with a player. The rules about licensed agents have been tightened up. It is much better than it was and clubs are certainly looking to reduce what they spend on agents, representatives, sharks and other intermediaries - which last year totalled around 28% of the total transfer fees for cross boarder (international) transactions. This is another reason I try and avoid discussing money - folks simply cannot grasp the costs involved.

Taking Liverpool as an example, in the past three seasons the club has spent a shade under £25M on agent/representative fees alone.}

Believable16 Unbelievable3

Once again underestimate the knowledge the Eds have, Thanks and keep up the good work

Agree0 Disagree0

That's really interesting, thanks for that Ed002. Glad to hear efforts are being made. I recall us being near the top of fees paid in this country, on the likes of Jovanovic, Cole etc.

I once met a young Robinho (true story, when he played for Santos before the Flamenco match) wished him luck in his future career and gave him my trademark back slap. He went on to have a shocker that game, but turned out pretty well I guess. I think my motivational chat could be worth a % or 2. I'll send him an email.

That was very interesting and informative.

Agree0 Disagree0

It always gets on my nerves when people say "x player is worth £5m, why player is worth £15m" where do these people get that info from. Because the price stated by these people (including the press) usually has to add a further £5m+ on top.

Too much guess work, let's leave the figures to the clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice work if you can get it how does one become an agent ed? {Ed002's Note - You have to work your way up from charlatan to shark to intermediary to representative then agent.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it is scandalous that a club pays an agent anyway. the PLAYER should pay HIS agent a fee from his own money

Hi eds, to what extent does the Mkhitaryan interest depend on the sale of Suarez?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - If Suarez is definitely leaving then I would think interest, the timing of any offer and the completion of any potential deal would not matter at all. Else it would be no more than speculation to say.}

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Anyone else not impressed by Mkhitaryan, at least at the price mooted? In a nutshell, he seems more of a 10 million player than 22 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

When Eriksen is available for £12 - £15m this guy is not worth £10m more

Hi eds sorry about sending another post, forgot to include it in my last one. Question specifically for Ed02, have Liverpool enquired or held talks regarding any player of which interest is not widely known as being there? {Ed002's Note - Given the repeat questions it seems nothing is widely known by the posters. Right now I am not aware that Liverpool having held talks about any players not discussed. Enquiries as to availability are made regularly and I am sure there are many that have not been discussed. Obviously we steer away from the South American players because of previous issues, but I will say that an enquiry has again been made on behalf of Liverpool regarding German Pezzella. And there is nothing I can add to that right now.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Great to hear a fresh name tossed into the hat! Thanks Ed. I would imagine that Pezzella would be an alternative to the Illori deal, but for the sake of inquiring minds, does he actually have a European passport through Italy? Or would he have to apply for a work permit a la Sebastian Leto? {Ed002's Note - I think you are confusing him with someone else - Italy does not come in to it.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this a fresh enquiry ed? I think we made an enquiry with regards to this player previously? I maybe wrong of course. {Ed002's Note - THis is a recent enquiy on behalf of the club.}

Afternoon Ed, what do you think the future holds for Guidetti? Will he be in Pellegrini's plans? {Ed002's Note - I expect that Guidetti will be allowed to leave with interest remaining from both long term suitors Borussia Monchengladbach and Sunderland.}

There seems to be strong rumours that we are after Mignolet, Papadopolus, Ilori, Kucka, Mkhitaryan, Alberto & Ferreyra.
Plus we've already secured Toure & Aspas (almost). I for one think its shaping up to be one of the most exciting summers ever, regardless of the Suarez situation. I'm not expecting all of them to happen, but do the Eds think these would be good signings if we could pull them off? and is there any in the list that are just not going to happen?

Mick D {Ed002's Note - I don't see Ferreyra or Kucka moving to Liverpool. Papadopoulos has been done to death and like Mkhitaryan is perhaps over-valued by his club. Mkhitaryan is being offered around and Liverpool has an interest but, like Papadopoulos, there has been no bid placed. Mingolet, Ilori and Alberto are seemingly the most likely I would think. Try the search function for detail.}

I really hope we don't go for ince, he doesn't have any flair and would at best become a goal-scoring downing, people just want him because he was trained at the academy, if you take away his goals what else does he do, he would score far less in the premier league, he lacks creativity and flair and just has dribbling and goals, he also doesn't have sterling or ibe pace, he is at best a mid table player, he is not worth the money.

Believable62 Unbelievable13

Goals win games mate and we haven't got enough scorers in the team so for as little as 6 million we have a good squad member, MARK

Agree0 Disagree0

After watching the England u21's I think that Redmond looks a much better prospect {Ed030's Note - I do not rate Redmond there is weak then there is him. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Ince as a lot of flair, young and very skillful. you don't know what your talking about!
He is better than Zaha!

Redman 10

Agree0 Disagree0

Redman 10 I do know what I'm talking about, I watched ince play about 10 times last season and wasn't impressed, apart from his goals and assists I didn't see much else in him and if he isn't able to replicate this in the league then he barely has anything, flair is the ability to do the unexpected, zaha has this, ince dosen't, ince also has decent pace but not blistering pace, he very much reminds me of downing and is at best a mid table or squad player, 6m could maybe get deulofeu who has far more potential. If we sign him I will support him and if he does well then fair play to him, but there are better options on the market

Agree0 Disagree0

People want Ince because his stats for Blackpool are very good the last 18 months.
He would be an upgrade and closer to a finished article than Sterling is, for 4/5m. 21 years of age, lots of goals and assists last season. I think it's a no brainer.
I'd take him and loan Sterling out for the season.

Epic fail.
WelshBoyDave

Agree0 Disagree0

Welshboydave based on 1 opinion you feel I don't know anything about football, get real, championship players rarely score as many goals in the premier league, ince dosen't show enough natural talent to prove he can replicate half his success in the premier league, he is at best another downing and where are ince's goal in the the u21's?

Gotta agree with Welsh Boy 'ere, Lil' Red. if ALL Stewart Downing done was score goals and create assists, we'd be buzzin'!

Hi Eds, great site. Just wondering if you know of any interest in sessengon from LFC and if we may consider a move along with mignolet {Ed002's Note - Sunderland want Sessegnon to stay but he is determined to leave. Palermo has previously shown an interest in the player but I suspect a move there is unlikely. He would like a move to Marseille but is likely priced out of that unless a player could be included in a transaction. There is a thought in my mind that Spurs may consider him.}

ads with valencia not making the champions league are they likely to sell quite a few of the best players e.g sold ado and feghouli {Ed002's Note - Liverpool did previously show some interest in Soldado as did Napoli, Milan and PSG. However, Valencia wanted him to stay and he signed a new deal in last summer. Spurs are interested now but I suspect he will stay another season in Spain.}

Whilst Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli was stalling on signing a new contract in January, his agents were scurrying around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs were approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest serious interest of not. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool and Southampton (and probably others) were invited to take a look at the player but he was to depart for the ACON. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player but were told that he is not available. Since then a new contract has been agreed with Valencia and if they were to sell in the summer because of financial difficulties then they would look for a couple of teams to be keen enough to push up the price - otherwise they will look to hold on to the player - even though he wants to leave.}

Hi Ed, been looking at posts over last few days and nobody has asked this question so I was wondering if you know.

What is currently happening with Suarez, obviously very very likely to leave but are Liverpool currently actively seeking a buyer or are they simply waiting for an approach or has any team made an approach?

I imagine that we are actively seeking a buyer then that could decrease value but at the same time the longer that goes without a buyer must also affect his price in a negative fashion? Also do you anticipate Aspas signing by next week as he is talking as if everything is done?

Thanks, {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are aware of the interest of five clubs and they are aware that at least other one club that is not interested. They will be expecting offers and proposals and it will be just like any other transfer. I cannot say when any deal for Aspas will conclude but I suspect it shall soon. There is an issue with another agent saying he has a claim on the deal - this is actually not uncommon at all. But they will figure it out.}

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Ed002 I see you state muriel needs a work permit and we would have to long him out what are the chances of him getting a work permit before this transfer windows shuts? Does his price have a impact on it I no international caps do but enlighten me please {Ed002's Note - The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up by FIFA (top 75), or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher. Some players can obtain work permits through their parents or grand parents being English.}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Would someone holding an EU passport being viewed under EU work rules? {Ed002's Note - Having a passport from an EU member state is not a guarantee of a WP being granted - there are many displaced people in that category and they are considered on a case-by-case basis.}
