Not sure how accurate it is but Juventus have apparently made a €30m offer for Firmino.

{Ed025's Note - bite their arm off..

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2022 15:04:26
Yep bite that arm right off. Great guy but we can't just keep players out of sentiment. We have to move forward.

25 Jul 2022 15:13:26
The sale of senior players makes sense in most cases. But selling Firmino just doesn't sit well with me. Whether he plays 60minutes or plays 30 minutes, he's such a clever play and can positively impact the game. You can keep your £20m Juve and shove it up your arse. Bobbies a scouser!

25 Jul 2022 16:04:17
A couple of years of success and people are ready to get rid of one of the most important people paramount to said success. Give your heads a shake.

25 Jul 2022 14:45:28
Ed0025 that was Suarez’s advice also.

{Ed025's Note - love it JK..

25 Jul 2022 15:01:08
Ed25 have you ever tried to bite someone’s arm off?

{Ed025's Note - no mate…but I have bit a few posters heads off..?

25 Jul 2022 15:51:44
Agreed Gandalf. The only counter argument for me is the freshness/ staleness aspect, which can affect both the collective and the individual.
Bobby is settled and will continue to offer something, and who knows, he may find his best form, regularly again .
IF he and Ox were to be sold, that is 3/ 5th's of a Nunes, which could also be good.

25 Jul 2022 16:09:48
Not sure we could replace him for €30m Ed25, not a bad offer ( if true ) seen as though he's got a year left on his contract l, I'd rather give us another year and left for zilch.

25 Jul 2022 17:09:25
£30mil for Bobby, from a business perspective is a no brainier. 30 year old in the last year of his contract who’s should mediocre form last season. However I’m not sure who we could get to replace his experience for under £30mil.

25 Jul 2022 16:53:52
Ed I think you mean chewed their heads off.

{Ed025's Note - I think that depends on where you live waqas. In Liverpool if you get shouted at the answer is….”there’s no need to bite my head off”..

25 Jul 2022 17:37:11
Really difficult decision. If Klopp sees him behind Jota and others being able to play the number 10 role like Carvalho or Elliot then its a sell for me.

25 Jul 2022 17:41:16
Last season Bobby was injured a good deal.
He still played 35 games and scored 11 goals.

This does not seem a huge amount but for a 5th choice player it’s is exceptional. It compares with favourably with so many players. I think Sadio, Mo and Jota are so consistent we forget that a player, essentially a no10 who drops deep, scoring 1 in 3 is vital.

He was never fast so being 30 is no issue. He is a player who relies on guile and deftness, that is only improving.

Sell him and replace him with who? We are a bit spoiled. As one of six frontline players he is a superb option who will never let us down and loves the club.

25 Jul 2022 18:26:24
I agree but if he doesn’t sign a contract extension, why should we lose him for free? If we can make some money and put it towards other younger players, makes sense to me!

25 Jul 2022 20:06:14
Well we would have Firmino all year as opposed to the club having £30m and us not having Firmino.

25 Jul 2022 21:00:50
I think some people are being a bit nostalgic, £30 million now for our third choice striker entering his final year of his contract soon is good money. I think our new Portuguese fella would do a job in a Bobby role anyway. Love Bobby but if he’s not going to play much (depending on what Klopp wants) I’d like to see Bobby do it at another club in some point because he’d get the appreciation he deserves from other fans who’ve never saw his quality. I think hed excel in the Italian league.

25 Jul 2022 22:28:36
€30M is £25M. Original post was in euros that have magically morphed into sterling without adjustment… difficult one. Bobby has been a great player and is a great squad member now. I’d rather take £25M now plus any extra we negotiate it up than lose him for free next year….

25 Jul 2022 22:37:40
Sailor you essentially sanction Bobby to the retirement home for £20m, saying he should go to the Italian league. Who are we investing this sum in? The lads only 30. He was injured last season and lost minutes to Jota. Our teamplay suffered with Jota, all be it he snatched a few important goals. Mane seemed to take the spot only as it seems that Dias was introduced prematurely. Bobby still offers us a dynamic not many do. It's just an opinion like yours, but i believe hed offer more by staying then a small fee.

25 Jul 2022 22:43:21
Depends entirely on if he wants to stay on lower wages and be a decent cover/ rotation option with a new contract. If he’s fine with that we could do far worse than Bobby but his days of being first choice CF are done. If he does stay I hope he proves me wrong. If he doesn’t want to stay better take the money now.

25 Jul 2022 23:16:06
When did people reaching 30 make them old? I’ve said loads and loads of times on here that Bobby has the most instinctive football brain in our first team squad. He might not be able to run 100m in 10 seconds but his feel for the game gets him to the right place on the pitch 90% of the time. Maybe Carvalho or Elliot (not the fastest human being on the planet by the way) can replace him in the future but if it was me I would make sure we keep him for another couple of years after his current contract ends to be a (very, very valuable) squad member - like Millie - and mentor for the kids. It’s not sentiment by the way and if Bobby can mentor Fabio and Harvey and help them to become genuine world class he will be part of saving the club 10’s / 100’s of £m in not having to bring in ‘the finished articles’ with massive transfer fees.

26 Jul 2022 01:52:28
Great points made WDW.

26 Jul 2022 07:04:31
Really tough one Bobby in his prime was sensational and was untouchable in my eyes but nowadays yeah he might Meg 2/ 3 players in a game and ghost past a few players with his intelligence and guille but does he really impact games in the way we need/ want I’m not so sure I think he’s been that good he maybe deserves to leave on a free if we can’t sort a contract out . Losing mane and firmino in 1 window for a combined 50mill is a no no for me I think we stick with Bobby and hope a new role within the team helps him find some form and he chip in with some goals and assists along the way.

26 Jul 2022 09:29:47
It’s a tough one if the only thing that is considered is the starting 11. But, honest to God it’s just a no-brained if you consider the bigger picture : the squad ethic and legacy that Klopp is trying to build and, as I said the role Bobby could play both as a squad member and the influence as a mentor to the emerging youngsters.

26 Jul 2022 09:57:41
The demise of Bobby has got a lot to do with how we now play and the way teams set up against us and it's the reason we've moved to a Nunez style player.
He's an unbelievable player but doesn't quite suit Klopp's thinking now.

26 Jul 2022 13:51:15
I believe the money spent on nunez is almost paid off with the players that have left. not exactly spending are we? Get a replacement for bobby and another holding mid in. my opion.

26 Jul 2022 14:47:28
£25m for Bobby who is 30 and has one year left on his contract. Would seem to be similar offer we accepted for Sadio Mane. I don't believe we will receive an offer near to £25m for Bobby. For that reason I would keep him for at least another year and way up the options based on his appearances and performances.

26 Jul 2022 21:20:39
I just hope it’s not sell Bobby and buy Asensio!

27 Jul 2022 01:14:41
@Magico, if you do the Anfield tour these days you can ask to be shown Ward’s office.

When I went I saw that he has a great big bottle in the corner of his office that says ‘Transfer Funds’.

Apparently when we sell someone we put the money in the bottle and then when we buy someone we take whatever we need out of the bottle in shiny gold coins.

Funny thing though, when I was there, just before the window opened, there was an ‘iou’ for £35 million and when I asked what it was I was told it is for the money that we used for Diaz in January that we hadn’t replaced.

28 Jul 2022 09:25:14
Sorry for thinking being runners up again in the league and champions league. and winning both domestic cups, we could have a decent transfer kitty. How daft I am.

28 Jul 2022 14:11:06
BOBBY'S DEMISE? Such a punchline.
