Hi Ed002,

Lots of reports in the Spanish press that ourselves and Arsenal have spoken to Villarael about Yeremy Pino - have you heard anything?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yeremy Pino (RW/LW/AM) His agent spoke with Manchester City and Chelsea last summer about the player but Pino agreed a new contract at Villareal with a significant €80M buy-out clause and a contract to 2027. Barcelona opted for Raphina. Was orginally the first choice replacement for Pepe at Arsenal but is no longer. Real Madrid have him on their lengthy list of potential replacesments for Eden Hazard. Salah has agreed a new contract so it seems unlikely the Liverpool are keen at this time.}

That's another 1 off the bull list thankfully.

Do we still need Yeremy Pino when we already have Musialowski, Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon? All of these player have the same position as inside forward.

I'd rather give our own kids a chance.

What's an "inside forward"?

13 Aug 2022 07:20:30
Opposite to an ‘outside forward. ’ One starts the play wide and comes in from the wing which is the outside in forward and the other starts central and moves out to the wing known as the inside out forward.

Andy, Ed25 will tell you. He used to watch Tommy McDermott tear it up.

{Ed025's Note - or even Terry silvered.. ?

Whilst it’s good to use the kids, they are what they are, still kids, which means that whilst they may have the ability, they aren’t strong enough to play regularly. So for me, I still think we need to buy a decent midfielder…. at the rate our players are dropping, we’ll only have kids to fall back on and that unfortunately, in the toughest and most physical league in the world, is not a good thing.

"You'll win nothing with kids".
Ferguson - "Hold my beer".

You’ll win nothing with kids is up there in folklore but if you actually look into it, it’s not even true.

Hanson said it in 95 and Utd went onto win the league in 96. The so called kids were Beckham, Scholes, G Neville and Butt who were all either 20 or 21 years old and P Neville 18/ 19 by the time they lifted the league title so hardly kids in anyones opinion. The rest of the squad were far more established with Schmeichel, Parker, Irwin, Bruce, Pallister, Giggs, McClair, Cantona, Sharpe, May, Keane and Cole.

So as famous as the saying goes Utd didn’t actually really win the league with kids.
