Keita out with an "Injury". I don't really know whether to believe that or not.

Ed002, is there any update on clubs that may hold interest in NK?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of plans to sell Keita although many fans are convinced there will be an exchange for Bellinham in the coming days.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Injured absolutely pointless.

22 Aug 2022 21:17:39
The Bellingham obsession with some round here borders on insanity. Quite why he’d want to join a team that are getting pumped by all and sundry is beyond my logic. Keita is going nowhere, he’ll see out his contract and leave. We’ll stick with this group of midfielders and be lucky to get mid table at this rate,

22 Aug 2022 21:59:55
We well need to bring in someone or some more players because with that midfield, a kid and 2 oaps, does klopp honestly think we are going to win anything? We aren’t even going to get top 4!

22 Aug 2022 22:21:22
I pray the NK is flogged, not to death but back to Germany, asap, so that we can buy a reliable MF player that doesn't get injured and can play a couple of positions.

22 Aug 2022 23:26:16
It’s ridiculous how many injuries the midfield have.

Given the record of injuries our midfielders have it’s poor planning from the club not to look to move on these players or switch them to different training schedules that could help them stay fit longer.

22 Aug 2022 23:39:26
I think Keita’s was an “injury” as opposed to an actual injury. He prob just CBA and spent the evening chasing some poontang.

22 Aug 2022 23:57:05
I thought we had loads of options in midfield…?

23 Aug 2022 00:19:01
It is a lot of injuries to the midfield but I have some sympathy for the club. We played from August 21 to June 22 almost non-stop with 60 odd games plus most of the squad playing internationals too. It’s a heavy workload and the end of the season was a downer for the players - just missing out on football immortality.

They had about a month off and then a very short lead in to the start of the season due to the season being stuffed up by the ridiculous timing of the World Cup. Our pre-season also had the feel of a whistle stop world tour which must hamper continuity.

The team are playing poorly at the moment without doubt but I think the efforts of last season, the short recovery period and then a full on’here we go again’ has played it’s part as a factor in picking up ‘strain’ type injuries and the ones that are ‘fit’ look a bit jaded to me with some of the older lads struggling to get back up to speed. Medium to long term we will be alright but there’s no doubt that we are struggling at the moment.

Keep kidding yourself West Derby and making excuses, but pretty much all clubs have had the same issues of timescales etc. the reality is that our midfielders aren’t good enough for a variety of reasons and that’s played a large part in the issues we’ve had.

This malaise isn’t ending any time soon. And by the time it does change we could even be out of contention for the champions league we’ve been that bad, Fulham, Palace and United have all been atrocious performances.

Our midfield simply isn’t up to it, that’s been shown in each of our three games. Keita has been his usual injured self, Milner looks his years, Henderson really isn’t a number 6, Thiago is made of crisps, Elliot isn’t ready yet and is still learning, Ox is broken, Curtis is worryingly injury prone but also his all round game isn’t great.

23 Aug 2022 07:22:13
Not all the clubs (other than city with their massive squad) played the same number of games we played or played at full pace into June. Nobody else suffered the pain of losing the PL on the last day or the CL final within a week at the end of a 10 month season.

Like I said we are playing poorly and I’m not trying to kid myself or anybody else and I’m not making excuses. What I am doing is trying to place context around where we currently are but I’m pretty sure that they aren’t playing badly to annoy the people who support the club.

In my opinion real life tends not to be like computer games where those who aren’t very good can play the same games over and over again until they are lucky enough to stumble over a win. The players are human not pieces of data stored on a database.

Anyway, back to the searing insights into why we need to replace the entire midfield before the end of the transfer window ….

It's in times of adversity you find out who the supporters are and who the glory seekers are. All of a sudden we're not blowing opposition away and it's "slag the team" time.
Players being slagged that weren't even playing last night!
When the going gets tough, YNWA and all that jazz.

23 Aug 2022 08:12:16
I’m guessing you’re happy with last nights performance and the performances against Fulham and Palace then Flash?

23 Aug 2022 08:42:16
It’s not full on here we go again. It’s a game then 8 days training a game and 7 days training. No more excusess they are embarrassing. The only fact is we are playing crap atm. There is no excuse for not matching the opposition for effort.

23 Aug 2022 08:55:41
If the players are tired now from last season and we’re only 3 games in then surely they will just become more and more tired as this long season continues with a World Cup thrown in. Not really sure how the players become less tired for the medium term. Especially as we now go from 1 game a week to 2.

23 Aug 2022 08:56:35
Flash, we the team and players play well they rightfully get praise but when they are shocking and get out worked by Man U what do u expect? We go one nill down in every game, mentally monsters do me a favour.

23 Aug 2022 08:58:55
Flash we get it.

In your head you are a better supporter than anyone else. We’ve got the message. You don’t have to keep on about it numerous times a day.

23 Aug 2022 09:59:24
I read a lot of anger, desperation and frustration on posts today. And after Mondays loss, It's expected.

Will Naby Keita ever be the midfielder we need? Doubt it! His constitution is too fragile!
And all respect to Millie, but the guy is way too slow to be a starter for a Championship chasing side! Experienced last 5 min sub, maybe!

So I am sure Ward, Klopp and Pep are working their asses off to find a midfield solution, but you all have to remember that the buck stops with Klopp!
He have no choice but to support in public the midfielders he has, the squad he has, the 11 he choose! Even if he fights FSG 3 hrs every damn day for a new addition, or if he isn't.
Breaking loyalty to the club is bad, but not showing loyalty to the squad is devastating.

Bellingham may be Messiah, or he may not. Tchouameni could have made us win it all, or maybe he wouldn't!

It all comes down to believing in the process, in Klopp, and trust that the players who almost rewrote the historybooks last season will get their heads out of their a** and start playing football again!

35 games left, "just" 5 points shy of City! Nothing is won, nothing is lost after three games!

Cheer up people! YNWA!

23 Aug 2022 11:47:44
Danny, yesterday wasn’t an isolated issue. We were awful against Fulham and Palace, there may be 35 games left but we don’t look like winning and haven’t looked like doing so either. Bournemouth will be looking at us fancying their chances as we’re easy to shut down, weak in midfield and easy to put pressure on, we give away soft goals because we keep making silly mistakes and we don’t learn from them.

23 Aug 2022 11:54:34
Death, taxes and midfield injuries.

We could always lineup a cardboard cutout of Jude Bellingham in the next game.

23 Aug 2022 18:56:26
We are unfortunately seeing the difference between us and the likes of City. Yes we have had some great players in the last few years, but the system was always king as it should be. But we never had the quality midfield to ensure that we could play how we wanted without being effectively countered. City have that, everyone knows what they are going to do but it is so difficult to stop them, unlike with us and the reason is purely the midfield creativity just isn’t there whilst City have it in abundance and then some. Yes our midfielders work hard etc (last night aside) but so do KDB and Silva and they both get plus 10 goals and assists a season each. That’s the difference I’m afraid. Here’s hoping our youngsters (Elliot, Jones, Carvalho) develop to be that sort of midfielder but in the meantime I think a change in formation is required.

23 Aug 2022 18:59:08
Funny how these players nearly won a quadruple last season and 3 games later they are crap and we're doomed.
Clearly things aren't going our way, welcome to football in the real world. Suck it up boys and girls 'cos there will be no miraculous season saving late signings. It's down to the players that are fit enough to be selected to get back into that groove and fans in the stadiums to roar them on.
It's no time for glory seekers, shrinking violets or snowflakes on or off the pitch.

23 Aug 2022 20:11:13
Like a rousing presidential speech that ?.

23 Aug 2022 21:22:27
WDW is that meant to be an excuse? So because we’ve had a decent season, I say decent because we missed out on th me two biggest trophies, we should feel sympathy? Anyone with a half a brain could see this aging squad was an injury or two away from disaster and it’s happened. “Top Fans” on this site who criticise others for wanting healthy investment were vilified as a result. FSG have hung Klopp out to dry, there’s been no investment only replacements. The season is a write off.
