And we’re off … Arthur Melo on his way to Liverpool to sign on for a season long loan. What’s that 2nd World War film? The Longest Day ….

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we might already be at A Bridge Too Far, WDW.

Looks like it’s never ending story over end of story.

Arthur has been sidelined with 15 different injury complaints during his four years playing in Europe.

Should fit in well.

Is there a movie called ‘the definition of madness’?

Feeling very ‘Davies and Kabak’, you would have thought we would have learnt, but as the great whitesnake would state ‘here we go again’.

How about Groundhog Day?

For once let one of these panic last day loan deals pan out. Here's hoping we are all complaining how Juventus are charging us 50 million on the back of an amazing season. Saying he would not be worth half that if it wasn't for klopp.

One thing I know for sure is that by the end of this loan deal we will be complaining. That's for certain.

He is definitely cover for Thiago then. They can share their 8 injuries a season between them and play 25 games each.

Liverpool fans "Sign a midfielder, we need bodies".

LFC sign a midfielder

Liverpool fans "No not that one"

With the constant chatter about injuries, I checked out the average injury incident rate in professional footballers. Apparently in Europes top 5 leagues the average rate is 6.8 injuries per 1000 hours of training and/ or playing. When isolated, playing time averaged the highest at 36 injuries per 1000 hours.
No idea where our players fit into this (whether they average higher or lower) . Someone would need to calculate time spent injured vs time spent training and playing for each of the individual players.

That’s just crazy enough to work Spaceman.

Arthur Melo has been signed on loan according to Wikipedia. Look at the wiki entry. If he stays fit he will be an interesting player for us.

He fits right in. Here is his Injury record.

Phenomenal at possession, one of the best I've seen. Very hard to chip the ball away from him. But he does absolutely nothing with the ball. He has only short passes, almost never forward. (from a Juve fan) .
Sounds like Gini -IE could offer some control in the MF.

LFC signs another injury-prone midfielder*

Fixed it for you, Mane ?.

01 Sep 2022 12:26:14
Anyone remember when we signed Alberto Aquilani from Juventus he already had an ankle injury, done while playing for Juventus, ankle injury done in March he somehow passed the LFC medical, when he signed for LFC in the August, and never made his full debut till late December the same year.

Will history repeat itself?

01 Sep 2022 13:01:51
A less durable Gini, obviously.

01 Sep 2022 13:14:32
By all accounts, he only likes to play when he's 100% fit. Just what we're looking for. Sounds like a Brazilian Sturridge.

01 Sep 2022 13:46:35
Stylistically, he's just like Thiago, and that's *EXACTLY* what Liverpool need when considering the press resistance, pass volume and general 2nd phase qualities they lack when Thiago and Keita are out.

01 Sep 2022 14:30:05
Directed to the usual suspects like spaceman and 6times. Its amazing that footballers pick up injuries eh. Guess City should not have signed Haaland or we with Darwin. How bout signing a robot instead? Or like Roma signed the durable Gini and he breaks his leg in training accident. The lack of common sense from (I'm assuming) grown men is laughable.

01 Sep 2022 14:47:34
In his time in Europe he’s missed 47 games in 4 seasons (according to Transfermarkt which is normally accurate), on average that must be better than Keita, Ox and Thiago and comparable with Henderson? It’s not ideal as having to chop and change as it brings no continuity but as a stop gap this season (hopefully sign Bellingham next) it might be a decent signing,

{Ed001's Note - were they all injuries? Some might have been rotation that he missed as well surely? It is very rare that any team plays the same midfield every game these days.}

Seems like am ideal FSG signing, we need a quality addition, that cost money, get a cheap loan player in, saves them cash, he's out with a lot of knocks and we know the Prem gives out more knocks than any league in Europe, strange deal for me but we have owners who aren't that concerned with the squad, they like to make money not spend it.

01 Sep 2022 16:23:23
Another in the medical room along side old plastic legs Keita and Ox at least the card games will be more interesting now. These owners appear never to learn their lesson pay cheap pay the price.

01 Sep 2022 17:14:53
Haha pay cheap pay the price indeed. How much did Keita and Ox cost again? Or Pogba? Or Hazard? Transfers are not black and white.

Depressing, reading all these negative posts.
