Afternoon, Do we know of any interest in Rice or if he'd have any interest in us? Him and Bellingham is the kind of players we need to look at to get back in the fight for the league, if we signed both i'd be hard pressed to find a better 11.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have made no approach for Declan Rice.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd get no change out of £200 million for those 2.
Is it fantasy transfer time already?

02 Nov 2022 15:54:31
@Flash, think we would have the coin for that as we haven't spent much recently.

02 Nov 2022 17:01:10
I think you’d need about £250m and still get no change out it lol.

02 Nov 2022 18:32:30
Declan Rice for me, jury still out on Bellingham, a good player but when I watch him he doesn’t turn up, never pay £100m or more for him never.

{Ed014's Note - but pay £52 million for Keita ??

02 Nov 2022 16:32:52
Ed’s, As Dortmund appear to have placed a €150m price tag on Bellingham, is there a conceivable possibility of him moving in the January window, in your educated wisdom, do to it being so early in the season to release a figure of purchase, also ahead of the WC?

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund will likely look to an auction in the summer. The price you quote is not new.}

02 Nov 2022 19:32:43
Surly rice wouldn't cost £100m transfer fee with him down to 18months on his contract? Maybe with transfer fee+ wages+ other fees it would be that but not on transfer fee alone.

02 Nov 2022 19:43:11
It's not a question of having the coin for it, it's justifying that price tag. FSG have repeatedly made it clear they can't and won't try to compete with the oil rich clubs. Fans will just have to pine over these fantasy signings because they ain't happening.

02 Nov 2022 19:58:09
@Lancaster - lucky we managed to pick Nunez up on a free eh?

02 Nov 2022 20:23:09
We have a great chance of SFR.

03 Nov 2022 00:08:46
18 months or not, Rice still comes with the English tax.

03 Nov 2022 00:35:20
Ed2 just regarding an auction. For Bellingham, is it the case that Dortmund would take the highest bidder? For arguments say someone from China offered 200million…. just interested in the balance between getting the fee they want and also wherever it is Jude would want to play.

{Ed002's Note - They will look to sell to the highest bidder. There won’t be anybody from China bidding. Obviously Bellingham would need to agree any move. He will need to look at the proposals from those clubs who are showing an interest.}

03 Nov 2022 03:00:45
Eds014 No, I wouldn’t pay £5.24 for Keita he is garbage and as I said Bellingham is a good player but the chat of generational talent is a stretch for me.
Be happy with Rice at £60-70m.

{Ed014's Note - it’s got beyond crazy mate the prices for players some of whom, like you say are clearly garbage, is mental, where we thought paying £72 million for Pepe was a good idea I’ve no idea at all! ?‍♂️

03 Nov 2022 03:00:04
Just a question ed002, would Liv be able to afford bellingham financially? Not just the transfee fee but also other cost ex wages and stuff?

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that. Are the club adding other players? Is anyone being sold? Is the wage bill in line with recommendations?}

03 Nov 2022 05:13:59
ok so again, for arguments sake. If West ham offered 80mil, Real Madrid offered 100mil, but Jude would only agree to play at West ham, how does that work?

{Ed002's Note - Players can not be forced to sign contracts at clubs they do not wish to play for. So he could stay where is.

03 Nov 2022 07:10:52
Has their ever been talks of a transfer fee cap like the wage cap . I really don’t think it would be hard to install int to the game I think it would be welcomed from most apart from the oligarchs and maybe a few others.

{Ed002's Note - Which "oligarchs" are those?}

03 Nov 2022 09:01:58
How much for brightons caicedo might be a cheaper alternative.

03 Nov 2022 12:37:46
@West did we not sell anyone this summer then?

03 Nov 2022 13:37:13
Ed’s, thanks for the reply re Bellingham, I am sorry tho it may have kicked off some stuff. I was asking in the general sense about a potential jan move, not specifically us.

Although I’ve seen very little of him play, I bow to ppls knowledge of him.

Tx for the great work/ wisdom.

03 Nov 2022 22:16:04
Give me Caicedo and Barella over them 2 any day of the week.
Overhyped English.

04 Nov 2022 08:36:15
Caicedo being quoted at 80m in the papers and I’d imagine Barella would command a similar if not higher fee too.

04 Nov 2022 08:47:28
@Lancaster - yes we did - it’s called sound financial business sense. Buy and make the squad stronger - sell the lads who don’t have a future at the club and (at least attempt to) balance the books. However, that’s not the point in question.

To say FSG don’t spend money on the first team squad is simply just not true. As I’ve said a number of times now, according to TransferMarkt, FSG have spent £ 1 Billion on first team squad players.

Of course they have sold players too - otherwise we would have dozens and dozens of players with a squad limit of 25. However, as I say, net transfer spend and recoup via outgoings isn’t the point in question.

What is in question is your reperetive (and totally inaccurate) statement that FSG doesn’t sped money on transfers.

05 Nov 2022 10:04:31
We see is in many transfers. The player says he only wants to join a certain club and won’t sign a new contract. Therefore the selling club normally agrees to a compromised fee. Bellingham wants to join Liverpool so I am confident a deal can get done.
