With all the fans buzzing over the ins of the club Ed's

Who's looking likely to leave obviously the books need balancing to a certain extent

People who come to mind are
Naby
Ox
Nat
Firmino?

And any youngsters leaving on loan?

Cheers Ed's.

{Ed002's Note - And probably Milner and Adrian - and perhaps Fabinho as the club have been looking at DM.}

Agree0 Disagree0

good list of players to be rid of.
fabinho particularly, if it means we get a upgrade there.
felt he play in a very passive way, doesn't protect enough, doesn't create at all, doesn't press enough, no shooting threat.

27 Dec 2022 17:05:06
Why do you think Fabinho would be leaving Eds? Are we looking to move him on or does he want to move?

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been looking at DM players.}

Where does the interest come from with regards to the players mentioned then Ed

Are their any likely jan departures.

{Ed002's Note - Players are out of contract and some simply need replacing - Liverpool have been looking at DM players.}

“felt he play in a very passive way, doesn't protect enough, doesn't create at all, doesn't press enough, no shooting threat. ”

That’s quite an assassination on a player who was a key cog in our success over recent years.

If our midfield is evolving to a point where he is more exposed and not going to do the same job anymore that’s more than a fair assessment but let’s not pretend he’s been a problem for the last four years.

27 Dec 2022 17:39:26
That list of players aren't going to bring in much money though, including Milner and Adrian.

Fabinho would fetch a decent fee.
I’m not sure for how much longer Kelleher is going to be happy being a back up, would also fetch a decent fee.
Tsimikas is another who could possibly be sold and again should fetch decent money. I’m not sure if I’d want to see any of these 3 leave the club although Fabinho would need to up his performance levels.

27 Dec 2022 17:56:07
Not fair at all on Fab. His passing is excellent at time and who could forget the time he ripped out the back of the net w his goal against City?

27 Dec 2022 17:54:06
kelleher.

27 Dec 2022 17:39:35
Florentino luis
Moses caicedo
Joao Gomes

Is that the 3 for the dm slot we have looked at Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I would not lose sight of Sofyan Amrabat.}

27 Dec 2022 18:06:35
Fabs has been poor for a while with no signs that he can get back to his previous high levels. So it’s right the club are looking, I think an upgrade is needed. Posters mentioned before we need mobility and at the moment we have none in midfield.

27 Dec 2022 18:12:20
I think when you want to be the best you need to be ruthless and when players aren’t cutting the mustard they need moving on .

Kills me fab was a firm favourite of mine but for me he’s the 1 player in the midfield that is easily upgraded.

27 Dec 2022 18:42:19
Hopefully Stefan Bajcetic fills in as the rotational defensive midfielder, allowing our incoming signing to have a break. I feel like Fab was used until his legs fell off, feel for the guy but he has been really poor for a while.

Bajcetic, for me, looks like he will be a very handy squad player, with room to be even more important in the future. I must say, I have been really impressed by his reading of the game. He always know where to be, the amount of interceptions he makes is impressive for a kid his age.

Fingers crossed we don't block his path because I think he can be a real player, given time, opportunity and patience.

Cheers for the info Ed

1 more if it’s not too much is their anything new on the sale front as we’ve had the World Cup and obviously the transfer window coming up which is a great distraction for the fans

Is their anything more happened or are we still awaiting proposals from interested parties?

{Ed002's Note - I understand they are trying to take a first cut at reducing the number of potential bidders.}

27 Dec 2022 18:59:51
I’m not going to say Fab has been ‘poor’ but I have noticed in the last 2 seasons his levels and energy drop after about 3 straight games. If he gets a break he comes back well, but without the levels and energy stay lower.

If that is a fair assessment ( the data would be clear to see within the club ), then that would make things difficult as a replacement would be harsh, but 2 quality DM’s would be difficult to accommodate.

27 Dec 2022 20:18:51
Fabinho covered more distance than anybody yesterday as for he does not score or create I would have to say one of the more stupid comments don’t think to many defensive midfielders do. As for his been poor for a few seasons now come on, I can’t remember anybody saying that last season and the season before he was covering for the injuries as cb and are form improved once he went back into midfield. Love to know ed001 thoughts on these comments.

Fabs was the best DM in the league a season ago but he’s not being helped by having Thiago and Elliot in midfield with him. It’s an impossible job.
Both are positionally very poor especially in transition after we lose the ball leaving Fabs with usually 2 or more players to track and both give the ball away very cheaply leaving Fabs exposed again.
It’s no coincidence that we were at our best with Fabs, Hendo and Gini in midfield, all who win the ball and play it simply and quickly.
Thiago and Elliot want 10 touches and it’s the route of all of our problems this season.

27 Dec 2022 21:08:37
Becker I’ve seen the 10a turn quicker than fab . He’s not a bad player but he’s definitely nowhere near his levels of 20/ 21 he looks like he’s got weighted boots on I agree with the Elliot and Thiago point in them not helping but his role as the Dm is to be able to cover ground and help out defensively and for me if it wasn’t for his height to help defend from set pieces I think he’s be out that team i really do . I love the player he was the bestin that position but even last year mate he wasn’t great at times and he hasn’t been great once this year . the light is off in the lighthouse unfortunately.

27 Dec 2022 22:22:04
If we lose the ball it’s to be hoped that the midfield all try and get it back and not just stand looking at the DM surely?

27 Dec 2022 22:38:50
No chance was he better than Rodri last season, that’s ridiculous. Fabs was 7 out of 10 last season 7.5 if you want to argue. But this season he has been 3 maximum no 3.5 can be given. Thiago turns quicker.

Maybe Fab WAS important to the team.
Someone mentioned the team has evolved, and that is true. And every time I looked at him more, I wish he could have been more assertive.
Someone also said that he is easily upgradeable and that is also true. Rice is miles ahead of him for eg. And yes, he is far from being the best.
Someone also said that in the list, he is the 1 that will fetch some money, and that is also true.

Fabs still has under appreciated vision and passing ability. The problem is he is playing higher up than he is used to and doesn’t have the pace to get back into position quickly enough. He is most effective when he splits the CB to play out from the back and sits at DM only dictating play and not rotating with the other 2 cm positions. Now Thiago is here though he is the main playmaker. Rightly so. He’s far better at it. But it means Fabs rotates higher up the pitch where we gets caught out. I genuinely don’t think he he become a bad player. He’s just not being used as he was before. Maybe he just doesn’t suit the style of play anymore?

Fabinho been a fantastic player for us. Been aberrant best second half of last season and carried it into this although first two games back he’s been good it’ll be an easier decision in the summer than now. 6 months to get back to his best.
