Lots of talk on twitter saying CFC have activated Enzo's release clause.

Would be disappointing, but would take them out of the race for Caicedo if its true.

Agree0 Disagree0

Enzo is obviously a very talented player however the release clause is crazy for a player that’s played in Europe for less than a season.

Equally the price being quoted for caicedo is way too much for his experience at this level.

It’s not easy to play in our midfield you have to be very disciplined, strong on the ball and tactically aware. Many have tried and failed. Some are still failing as we speak.
To spend that much on an Argentinian kid would be a huge risk.

30 Dec 2022 09:16:42
How players adapt to the EPL has a value, as we have seen through Naby and his travails.
Moises already seems to be more consistent and suited to the hustle and bustle of this league than Naby ever has been.
With that in mind, Moises is the safer bet, at this time, then Enzo, who has no experience of this league and the culture of this country, which is at odd's with the culture in Argentina. I've lived in Argentina, and i can tell you it is a far cry from L4.

Never underestimate how important a Gini type of player is especially when fighting for titles. Cooling a game down in big moments and press resistance are part of what's won us major titles. Gini was immense at times, and Moises can bring some more of that energy.
Does one get the level of hunger found in players like Diaz, Moises, Nunez and Cody from already established 'big' names? Comfort and big contracts can soften players (like Naby) . i think the club has learnt important lesson's from the Naby affair.

I really like Caicedo and feel his energy and ball winning aggression is perfect for us. And at just turned 21 with some Premier league experience in which he's been fantastic, I think he's a great buy if the club get him. Enzo looks very talented but at nearly double the price of Caicedo with zero Premier league experience no thanks. Gakpo&Caicedo for around the price of Enzo is a no brainer!

30 Dec 2022 10:17:43
I think Enzo would fit in seamlessly into the prem. It'd obviously be helped by the team and I really think he'd be a better fit in our system than Chelsea's. he has all the qualities to fit in alongisde Fabinho and any of Thiago, Hendo, Elliot. He has the engine, technique, passing range, attacking skills. He'd be fantastic in our midfield but doesn't seem possible for us.

We’re putting all our eggs in the Bellingham basket. We needed a midfielder 18 months ago. When Tchouameni went to Madrid we sat and sulked about it for months before getting Arthur on deadline day. As much as I want to be biased why would Bellingham pick us over Madrid? Enzo could have been our VVD or Alisson in midfield that good already and only going to get better.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool never made an offer for Tchouameni and never spoke to Monaco about him.}

Read that Benfica are resolved to losing Fernandez and are looking at Argentinian Velez Sarsfield as a replacement. Maybe we should look sign Sarsfield instead.

{Ed002's Note - I understand Klopp is very keen on Velez Sarsfield (CM/AM) himself.}

30 Dec 2022 11:03:50
Wait i thought Velez sarsfield was a club?

{Ed002's Note - Crikey - don't tell Klopp that.}

30 Dec 2022 11:06:54
Sorry
Maximo Perrone who plays for Velez Sarsfield.

{Ed002's Note - He is not Benfica's first choice but an option as a DM player. Maybe Klopp could look to replacing Fabinho with him and dismiss all other midfield targets.}

30 Dec 2022 12:04:42
I think Caicedo is the kind of midfielder we need, he’s got the energy, application and hard worth ethic we’ve missed. If our January consisted of Gakpo and Caicedo then that would be an excellent window and would give us a good platform to work from for the remainder of the season and give us a chance to remain in the champions league.

30 Dec 2022 11:55:34
Do Liverpool go big for Fernandez in January or bring in a less expensive midfielder (assuming we are looking) and wait for Jude in the summer. But if Jude then picks Madrid, Man City or another club in the summer we have shot ourselves in the foot.

{Ed002's Note - I would forget Fernandez but Liverpool will look to add a midfield player, perhaps Sofyan Amrabat or one of the others being looked at. Bellingham obviously remains a target but as I have previously explained the cost will be huge if he is made available for sale.}

Hi Liverbird031 and Ed002
Which is why I am not an LFC scout. Misread the article. That being said Velez Sarsfield does sound like a South American footballer.

30 Dec 2022 12:32:56
Hi Ed
Not trying to get to deep with the financials as I know this can be a minefield. But if say Jude signed for £100m for 5 years. Is it possible the fee could be payed over the length of the contract or would this be highly unlikely. Assuming Jude continues at a very high level Liverpool would have then have a very valuable asset.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not going to happen. Dortmund may accept the fee being spread out but not that much - and the two clubs who have approached Dortmund already have been to their preference is to have him sign an extension to his contract - and if he were to sold the cost is going to be huge.}

30 Dec 2022 12:53:16
Thanks for the reply Ed002.
As always the go to site for information. Long may you continue.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

30 Dec 2022 13:22:44
Ed002 - Who are the tow clubs that have approached Dortmund?

On another note, where will you be celebrating the New Year?

Cheers
Drogie.

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid and Chelsea. I will be celebrating New Year in Cornwall with friends.}

30 Dec 2022 14:24:48
I guess it will come down to where Bellingham wants to go and that will be the deciding factor. We know the purchase price will be big ed but do you mean huge factoring in wages etc? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - If he were to be put up for sale and offers were accepted by Dortmund, then the player will have options. The trasnfer fee will be huge.}

30 Dec 2022 15:30:06
I can’t get my head around the interest in Amrabat. He’s had four good weeks in his whole career and has been ordinary (at best) for the rest of it. Why sign a slower, less mobile, less capable version of Fabinho, when we have actual Fabinho already? Spend the money on Caicedo as he’s got far more potential and is a known quantity in the prem, we’re not in the so called race for Fernandez (regardless of the pre contract agreement lmfao), it’s plain to see that our midfield needs some energy, pace and more defensive nous.

30 Dec 2022 15:17:03
I do like the southwest of England ed002…

Could Chelsea afford both Enzo and Bellingham? How would this impact FFP? With the salary and all the add ons, the numbers would get massive.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea could afford both and they do not have a FFP issue and salaries are not an issue with departures and younger players beginning to replace more established players.}
