Heard that John Flanagan will not be offered a new contract and will leave at the end of the season. As much as I would like the scouse influence in the dressing room. Don't think he's good enough for the prem. Good luck to him though.

What nonsense is this?

Don't know where to begin really. Perhaps with the simple fact he was plenty good enough for the BPL when he made 23 appearances and we almost won it? Dude had a build up of fluid on his knee and had arthoscopic surgery; other than that, he's been a class professional and, IMO, he's the missing piece to our defense.

Totally agree Amerigo.
Joshlfc123 did you watch any liverpool games last season? He was outstanding and imo would walk into any premiership teams first 11. Even playing out of position he was great. Would be bending over backwards to get him to sign a new contract.

Flanno is a good player with a great attitude and Lfc through and through or is it that you think Johnson is better

Oh wow, this has to be a troll.

Did he not sign a new contract in the summer or was it just chat about signing a new deal?

26 Jan 2015 15:53:16
Utter Nonsense.
The Lad has not played this season and he was a key figure to our defence last season. He will be a star of the future that's for sure.

Hope this is wrong and if true it's not because GJ has been chosen ahead for new contract and RB slot?

What a mad Statement!!

I wish fellow fans would take off their blinkers with regards to JF.
He has no pace or technical ability and what annoys me he turns his back on anyone who goes to shoot -so much for his bravery.
Would he get into a top 4 team at the moment I doubt it . Although Roy did call him up- big deal look at other players called up hardly class acts.
We need to make room with youngsters showing potential and no not to throw them into the first team and hope for the best. Brendan has given more opportunities to young players than previous managers, just being in the first team squad and training with them is all education for them.

{Ed001's Note - he does have very good technical ability, it is pace, height and strength that he lacks.}

It's also a myth that you have to be big to be strong, nope, look at Sterling. Pound for pound harder to push off the ball than anyone. Flanno's tackles have a lot of force in them. But yes he isn't huge huge, tall and very fast.

The RB's in the league I'd start over Flanagan are: Ivanovic, Coleman, Zabaletta, possibly Clyne and if Sagna returns to his form of two years ago, maybe him. And he's the youngest in that list.

I'm a fan, but in the present system of 3-4-2-1, where does he fit in, not sure he could do wing back, but would be fine in a flat back 4! End of the day, he needs a new contract, so if we do end up selling, we get 'something' for him!

Im a season ticket holder from county road and went to about a dozen away games last season so to answer yes I watch the game. Speaking of last season how many goals did we concede? I know its not his fault but what does it say? our defence is not good enough. Check out the facts aswel, he was the most taken on player in the whole league last season. He is also blaming Liverpools physios for his knee. He was complaining about it last season and it was only when he went to Miami with England that the whole problem was recognised, he's actually hired his own specialist from London to look after him rather than Liverpool. All this aside, I would like to see him play before the end of the season and see how he gets on but it does look like he's not getting a new contract. Everyone complaining would have said the same about Kelly aswel last season and he's hardly set the world alight at palace.

He's infinitely better than Johnson who has been offered a contract. Would be gutted to see the lad go, he's a good defender, a battler and would run through walls for the club. Honestly, if Johnson stays, Flanagan goes and Rodgers keeps his job I think i won't bother renewing my season ticket next year.
