eds just wondering has there been any more news on manger candidates mentioned for if or when Rodgers goes at the end of the season? I recall Ed002 saying de boer and don't rule out rafa anyone else in the rekoning? cheers

{Ed001's Note - nothing is decided, that is the whole point. The review is still ongoing, it is a major undertaking to review a whole football club's operations in the Premier League era. They are international corporations in the modern era and everything is being revamped and modernised to improve Liverpool's chances of competing in the long term. The footballing side is part of that process and Rodgers will have to accept changes, at the very least.}

Right mate, misunderstood your first post! I really hope we stick with Brendan, because in my opinion he's a great manager! Hopefully he'll accept if changes are made for the benefit of the clubs future and progress! Cheers for your reply mate!
{Ed001's Note - I would hope so, as a coach there are not many better, it is the management side he falls down on. I don't understand his desire to be a manager anyway, after all his claimed ambition is to manage Madrid or Barca, neither of which would hire a manager. They both use the head coach model.}

I totally agree with your sentiments! He's a fantastic coach, especially with young talented players! That's one of the reasons I can't see FSG replacing him, with the owners youth policy!
You say that it's the management side of things that BR is failing at, what do you mean by that?
{Ed001's Note - the discussion of things that should be kept confidential in the media, the taking credit for everything good that happens while blaming others for everything that goes wrong, the long term planning for youth players.
So far he has been warned numerous times over his comments to the media and asked not to say so much. He is still continuing to open his mouth out of turn.
He takes the credit for every good performance by a player, rather than just saying it is a reward for their hard work on the training ground or similar. His praise for them is always aimed at bigging up his part in it. Long term that is not the way to make a player perform for you, a manager should be there to shield a player from flak and give them the credit for the good performances.
When players are not performing, he piles on the pressure with his comments about them, rather than looking to shield them. It makes it difficult to trust your manager when he does it every time. He needs to learn to pick and choose when to call out a player on his performance, the way Mourinho does. It should be one of those things you do very rarely, so they know when it happens that they really have stepped over a line.
The transfers had to be taken out of his hands he had made such a mess of them.
His management of young players was poor, only using them when he has to. The summer being a case in point, getting two right backs out of the club so he could loan one in. That has led to pressure to change, hence the recall of Ibe and subsequent usage of him. He is now being reminded of his promises to look to the youth first, only buying when there isn't an option there to choose.
That is what I mean by management. A head coach just gets the players playing well in the system set out for him, that is something Rodgers is excellent at. Managing a club is clearly too much for him, and that is no shame, as I personally believe that Premier League clubs are too big for a manager in the modern era.}

Ed001, I don't know if excited is the right word but are you excited by this on-going review? What I mean to say is do you expect it to bear fruits in the coming season and should we as fans look forward to the changes that might/will happen with regards to the running of the club?

Ed really interesting insight. Have to ask tho the negative points you mentioned do you think his age is on his side and is something he will develop? Or is he too stubborn and it will be to the detriment of the club hope he'll develop. Personally would love to see him work out well for the club- but not sure if it's because I've just bought in to his blagging!

Who would be your ideal Dof at this moment in time ed? and do you think fsg will look to someone who adopts the same style of play as were currently utilizing?
{Ed002's Note - The director of football will not be interfering with the style of play and much would depend on who the manager is going to be. If Rodgers stays someone like ex-referee Lubos Michel might be suitable. He is getting a very good reputation at Shakhtar Donetsk.}

Would Nicola Cortese be an option? Did an excellent job at Southampton and a very good negotiator, both clubs have a similar model in terms of business strategy and recruitment policy.

Well, I thought Lubos Michel works as head of the international competitions department in Donetsk, not DoF. He looks good in diplomacy, don't know much about his management skills. Why do you think Ed it would be good partnership MichelRodgers? Thanks

At clubs Cruyff takes charge of, the head coach follows the tactics he sets out and is responsible for teaching the players how to play it. At other clubs, such as Chelsea and Man City, the head coach picks the tactics and trains the players how to play it. There is no one size fits all.}
