Hi eds, do you still believe Sterling will sign a new contract? Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on who is in charge come the summer to a big part, but yes I do.}

Agree0 Disagree1

So a lot depends on if the club keep Rodgers or not ed001?

31 Mar 2015 17:27:32
Ed by that do you mean Rodgers wants him but a new Manager/Dof might not?

{Ed002's Note - No it means the kid and his representatives are controlling the situation. Champions League will likely play a part - plus no doubt his agent will be trying to find out what other options are available. Many clubs won't tolerate this sort of behaviour and will want to move him on.}

Cheers for reply mate. champions league will play a part, so if we don't get in were in a bad situation with him.

You are havin a laugh there ed aren't you ? Of course BR will remain he's doing a decent job.

{Ed001's Note - hahaha, decent is what you think will keep him in a job? My daughter could do a 'decent' job, but Rodgers is extremely well paid to do a far better than decent job and sadly you are right, all he is managing is to be 'decent' at it.}

So your saying no top four goodbye rodgers? Has he lost the dressing room with his ego like some suggest

{Ed001's Note - no he has not lost the dressing room, there will always be dissenting voices in any group of people, but he has not lost it as such. As for top four, that would be the minimum and may not be enough either.}

Dear Eds,
Surely if we miss 4th (as looks likely) the owners would look to change Rodgers as they will be changing the set-up in any case. What makes no sense is allowing him to bring Lovren in as it contradicted the Sakho signing a year earlier: did he get carte blanche on transfers last summer as with hindsight we could have got Son from Hamburg or Firmino for less money than we paid for Lallana.

Thanks Eds
Terry

{Ed001's Note - it looks likely he will go for sure if we finish outside the top 4, it would be a major shock if he wasn't removed in that circumstance.}

Ed you said a while back and specifically a reply to me that the reason for Sterling not signing is not that he is spoilt. You were more or less saying that it was Liverpool which was playing dirty tactics and that its better not to talk when we don't know the situation.
Well what have you got to say now? For me Sterling is a disgrace, worst kind of a footballer. Instead of accepting any raise(still at 20 years has a lot to learn and be grateful to the club) he goes on about bullying the club. Is this an attitude of a player we want to have?
As I said many times you blame and back up the wrong people.

{Ed002's Note - I have replied at length that responsibility is spread out - it is far from simply the fault of a young player who is being guided by others. The club has the responsibility to players and the players have a responsibility to work within the confines of their employers. Liverpool have not dealt well with a number of the players in recent years, Suarez and Sterling have both been particular stupid in their dealings with the press, but someone should be tugging on the chain of Gerrard and telling him to not keep putting the club in a difficult position with his behaviour and his openness with the press. Rodgers has far from dealt well with the press and I have explained that, whilst suffering from foot and mouth, his continually discussing club matters (contracts, behaviour of players etc.) with the press has done nothing but harm to the club. This could all have been avoided. Blaming the player alone is far from correct, but the club and Rodgers have a very significant part to play in yet another PR mess that is taking the attention away from the football itself.}

I was talking about Ed001 who clearly stated that it was the club's fault mostly in dealing with this. After Sterling interview nobody will agree with you. Sterling and his representatives are at 100% at fault here. It spells greed and disgrace on Sterling's part. After all that Liverpool has done to him the least he could do is accept another extension of his contract with some raise on his salary. Not expecting everything to be laid in front of him, he is 20 years old.
I don't see what Liverpool and Rodgers have done wrong here. The negotiation with Sterling should have been simple, if he was not spoilt and greedy. He seems like he doesn't respect what the club and Rodgers offered to him all these years.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but that is not what I stated at all. I said the club have handled it badly, but not that it was mostly their fault.}
