Hi All,

Its been a while.

I haven't really had a lot to add recently so i have left it alone.

Without wanting to upset the Eds and the majority of the posters, i personally would keep Rogers till at least Jan. Don't get me wrong if we could get Klopp i would seriously think about it but if not who else can we attract that can do a better job.

I do have issues with Rogers but nothing a DOF couldn't fix, as long as he was willing of course.
We also go on about him wasting 200 million, well that isn't exactly true, if i am being pedantic then you would have to work out market value for the players now and then work out what has been wasted. I do agree that some of the transfers have been poor, and money has been wasted, i also know that most of the fans were pleased with the signings at the start of the season.

What i do find criminal from everybody at the club is not signing a world class striker to compliment Sturridge or replace him, personally i think he will never recover from his injuries, when a player has it in his brain that he is injured you have a massive problem, look at Jamie Redknapp.

In defence of Rogers i know for a fact he didn't want Balotelli anywhere near the club, and let me say this, knowing what i know he was right, without saying too much they need to get rid asap.

I suppose that's where the problem lies, how can the manager of the football be so against a player but he can still be signed.

The only thing i can say is, yes we have spent so much money on average playersin the last 15 years but with the exception of a few most have been a disaster.

This needs fixing quick.

One of my final points is this, i know the Eds and most of the fans on the site will disagree with me but here goes, i am a firm believer of, we have the 5th highest wage bill in the prem, so 9 out of 10 times you will finish 5th or thereabouts.

The only news i have is that Milner is virtually done.

For me we need to get rid of the squad and loan players and replace them with the great youngsters we have coming through the Academy, we also need to buy 3 or 4 top top class players, easier said than done i know, but that's where a top DOF comes in.

Sorry if it is a long post.

Cheers

Macca

How do you feel about Rodgers being tactically naive? And never setting up to counter opposition players?

27 Apr 2015 20:52:15
Hi Macca

Can you shed any light on what the players think of Rodgers? Has he lost the dressing room? Good news on Milner; I think him, Hendo and Can or Lucas in a midfield 3 is very strong.

That's sound macca your input it's always greatly appreciated and I agree with all your post bar keepin BR UNLESS as u said we get a DOF! Thanks agsin for the update on Milner I think he's a good addition!!!

27 Apr 2015 21:15:28
Welcome back macca.
Thanks for the info, didn't know Milner was almost done, just thought about interest.
I almost agree with keeping Rodgers till jan if we can get a decent DOF but I'm not sure all of Rodgers problems can be solved with a DOF. To me he is tactically poor and can't set up a team to face the opposition in front of him (just to second what the other poster said)
I would start fresh in the summer with the best manager/head coach we can attract (there will be many candidates that will do a better job than Brendan is currently)

Keep Rodgers. If your PC goes wrong, you re-install the dodgy software until you run out of ideas, and then you replace the operating system!
You have to keep everything in perspective, and remember we only know what we assume to be correct. We may have been close to signing some real gems that fell through at the last minute. I know I was well chuffed when we got Lallana, and I still think he'll prove to be a great signing. Can is class and will be huge for us. I also think Lovren will get better, and Moreno will be good next season. On the flip side, Lambert could have gone either way but has not worked out, Markovic (bar a brief spell of 2-3 games) have been disappointing, and Balotelli useless.
Origi has been built up like our great hope, but I have watched him this season and he will not be our saviour, trust me – although he will be a good rotational player.
As much as Milner does not excite me, he would be perfect for us and is a seasoned Premier league footballer. The risk is he does a Lambert!
Losing Suarez meant that the others got found out – especially Sterling who I think is easily our most rated player. If we get offered £50m for him he simply has to go. In fact, £25m would do it for me.
I think we need a defender, a midfielder, an attacking mid/winger and 2 strikers. They must be quality though or we are going sideways again.

Anyway, thanks Macca for popping in. I was a non-believer of your 'connections', but always read your posts with interest!

Cheers all.

Hi Macca, Nice to hear from you. I agree on your MB point. It seemed apparent at the time that BR did not want him but the Committee acted from a statistical base and got it wrong. The stats approach has been wrong too many times and FSG should address their willingness to accept it as a standard. Let's hope that someone turns on the light and our hierarchy get it right in the coming summer.

Yours, as well as the Eds views are always appreciated and enlightening. Thank you.

We love long replies Macca! Milner though. What is the point seems like another lambert situation to me, wha is the point.

27 Apr 2015 22:38:00
Thanks for the insight and news Macca and I totally agree with your last paragraph!

A DoF would help, as long as they were a good one who could help attract those players to the club that Brendan can't! As others have said, Brendan would need to up his game regarding match tactics and substitutions during a match, before he can really be regarded as good enough for this club!

27 Apr 2015 22:47:02
Don't apologise Macca, great to hear from you and could not agree more with you thoughts.
Pleased to hear Rodgers did not want that lazy git from Italy, having been a Liverpool fan for 40 years I will never understand that signing
My only question is what do you think will happen with Sterling.

27 Apr 2015 22:32:59
Would love to know about balotelli

27 Apr 2015 23:01:57
I like Milner - not too expensive a signing as end of contract, but adds experience, energy and some grit in midfield which is what we're sorely lacking at the moment. I view him as an Allen replacement and backup at CDM if Lucas injured, or RB in a crisis.

27 Apr 2015 23:09:51
Maccccccca! nice to hear from you man thanks for the update, keep posting man your awesome.

27 Apr 2015 23:26:17
>we need to get rid of squad players to promote our awesome academy
>sign Milner

Oh boy.

Good to hear from you Macca.
I completely agree about BR. He's still young and is more likely to learn and adapt than a short-stay older manager. An experienced DOF could provide him with the right challenge to bring him along. I doubt that we could get anyone better at this point anyway and we would go backwards before going forwards if we did. Again. Is there a realistic chance we could get Klopp? Hmmm.

Statistically, wage bills are the best predictor of where you end up in the division so BR actually overachieved last season.

BR does need help with transfer targets but it was very clear that he was not in favour of MB. I'm not sure his transfers have been any worse (or better) than under previous managers. The fees are higher but that's true across the Premiership.

I also think Milner would be a good acquisition. He brings energy, drive and experience of playing for a team at the very top. Quite different from Lambert.

We need better competition in goal, central defence and up front. Most importantly, the ground redevelopment and more merchandising sales to get that wage bill up.

Welcome back Macca and we appreciate the posts man.

28 Apr 2015 05:34:09
I heard about balotelli as well , Rodgers wanted bony but the board went with balotelli.

The 200mil wasted though , other than coutinho, sturridge and can I don't see any player Rodgers bought making a profit most will lose money Allen, borini, lovren.

28 Apr 2015 05:40:01
I agree with most, but if we give BR till Jan and it's still a mess, it's going to be even harder to get a TOP manager in. Good news re. Milner i guess.

28 Apr 2015 08:52:42
Err, NO. BR is not, never has or will be good enough. We couldn't beat Aston Villa because he couldn't see the tactics to do it. 3 subs and at least three changes to tactics all failed. He is awful with the youth. he has no idea about PR at this level and that would take too long to learn. The same applies to west brom. he has to go

28 Apr 2015 10:54:27
Macca your back mate thank God for that.We all missed you big time here mate.

28 Apr 2015 13:25:34
Thanks for the update - Agree with you that a DOF is the only way BR will keep his job and its the only way I would want him to stay. Getting rid of the squad is going to be very tough , we pay average players too much and struggle to move them on

28 Apr 2015 13:46:51
Macca thanks for your post but I beg to differ.BR is a fake. He rode the Suarez wave and claimed the credit. He is tactically inept and is surrounded by stooges. He is no more than a lower league manager. I believe if he had stayed at Swansea, he would have been found out. I have been lynched for opposing him by the BR lovers including my eldest 37 years old son who are now out in droves demanding his head. If he is in charge until January than we are doomed. We might as well appoint a tactical champion from the video game brigade. I believe that would be an improvement on this king of bullshit.

Alibaba, would you care to get off the fence and call your view one way or the other please ;-)

28 Apr 2015 14:59:54
Zeddicus how can I be on fence when I have been calling for a taxi for Rodgers from last 3 years.

28 Apr 2015 15:17:30
Apologies alibaba, maybe the humour didn't cross over to oz very well!!

28 Apr 2015 17:44:39
Alibaba I think he was joking buddy

28 Apr 2015 19:12:12
Thanks so much macca. Just a magnificent and deep insightful post as usual. God bless.

Whilst this makes sense in terms of 'wasting cash' it fails to appreciate that the waste is not in terms of the actual cash, more than waste of it in pursuing players who can do the job. We may spend £200 million and finish fifth, sell players to make back the £200 million - but it still leaves us fifth!
