Hi eds,

With a fee etc agreed for Kovacic, what is the next step for the deal to move forward and how long would you suspect it take for it to actually be acknowledged by press? Any reply would be hugely appreciated

Thank as always

{Ed002's Note - Even though he has very recently extended his contract and is seemingly happy in Milan, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic for the right price and have spoken with Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona and Hertha Berlin about the player. Nikky Vuksan has however said he is aware that Inter and Barcelona have had discussions about some "issues" that would involve Kovacic. To explain, Barcelona were plotting a deal that would see Alex Song and/or Pedro Rodrigues move to Inter on loan until January and then will be part of a permanent deal for Kovacic. This option is off the table now. Hertha Berlin were not willing to pay the price. I am not going to go in to too much detail but Piero Ausilio, Inter's Sporting Director, told a Spanish journalist that Liverpool had made a "funny little joke" with a €10M offer. They have since returned with a futher offer that is close to the asking price but there is no final agreement - with a representative of the player making disparaging remarks about Liverpool and Arsenal being courted to make an offer. In the interim, as they have been unable to agree a deal, Inter who need to raise funds and sell a midfield player, have made it known that they will look to keep Kovacic if they cannot get the price they want and will make Hernanes available instead - and he has been offered as part of an exchange deal for another player.}

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2015 14:04:59
Does this not contradict an earlier statement from you saying a deal had been agreed?

{Ed002's Note - To some extent it does. Inter, whilst agreeing the fee with Liverpool, have not stopped looking for another bidder (Arsenal have been approached) and have continued to offer Hernanes to clubs - the latest being as part of a transfer for another player. As I have said - there have been some disparaging words said about Liverpool's dealings in this matter - and that won't have helped. If the proposal for Hernanes is accepted, then it would not be a surprise to see Inter take Kovacic off the market. For now, it remains a wait and see situation.}

14 Jun 2015 14:11:17
i thought this deal was pretty much done??now arsenal are involved. we really could do with employing a few people who can get deals done

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal has been involved to a lesser extent since the start - I imagine the fee would put them off.}

14 Jun 2015 14:26:49
Whilst we have othet priority positions in the team to fill,missing the opportunity to sign Kovacic will only add to the significant disappointment around the club atm.

14 Jun 2015 14:28:25
Ed 02 thanks for the info ! Does that mean the deal won't happen or there is still some possibility ?

{Ed002's Note - It means he is very much in the "maybe" bucket at this time.}

14 Jun 2015 15:29:40
Is this a 'probable' deal Ed?

{Ed001's Note - more of a maybe.}

14 Jun 2015 14:37:12
thank you for the information ed002. noone seems to know about kovacic's matter except you as everyone else seems to be guessing. ed002, do you think that liverpool's dealings in the matter would affect the transfer of kovacic to liverpool? and does the disparaging remarks about the dealings suggest the move may likely be off?

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't help but the key issue is that Inter need to raise money to bring players in - but if they can sort out a deal for Hernanes with one of their targets then that could well impact matters. Much of Liverpool's respect in the international game has gone for various reasons - not just transfer dealings. It has gone to such an extent that they are far outside of the group of clubs that regularly meet to discuss matters such as FFP, the potential breakaway, financial issues in different countries etc.. Whatever happs with MK will have no impact on that one way or the other. Right now, we can but wait to see what will happen.}

14 Jun 2015 14:50:36
Do you believe he will be a liverpool player come summer?

{Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

14 Jun 2015 15:05:42
Hey ed02, thanks for the update!
Several questions:
1. The fee being accepted, does that mean we can start negotiations with the player's representatives?
2. Could you reveal what the part-exchange offer with hernanes is? Just curiousity, he is a fine player too.
3. General question - when does a deal enter the stage when it cannot be canceled by neither club? When the player has signed the contract officially?
Much appreciated!

{Ed002's Note - (1) Liverpool can speak with his representatives, but not the player. Right now there is no point in doing so. (2) Kondogbia of Monaco. (3) When the transfer is processed by the appropriate FAs - contracts are binding subject to various caveats (e.g. a medical, availability of funds etc.).}

14 Jun 2015 15:21:28
Eds, I know this is probably a vague question, but is this usually how transfers work in Italy? It just seems as if the player has no say in the matter as to whether he's made available or not.

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - That is true everywhere, not just Italy - but you cannot transfer a player without his agreement.}

14 Jun 2015 15:36:48
Are Liverpool actually aware that they're upsetting people with how they're conducting themselves in these matters? Seems to have been a recurring problem over recent years and you would think it's something they would be very keen to avoid to prevent future problems in negotiations and such.

{Ed002's Note - Sure. They have been made aware on a number of occasions.}

14 Jun 2015 15:38:12
sounds like he does not want to play for us anyway,lets move on.

14 Jun 2015 16:24:41
Ed do you maybe know how long it could drag on?

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and answer questions about timing.}

14 Jun 2015 16:31:18
thanks ed002. appreciate you for your reply. hope this deal goes through but would not be surprised if it fails to matter. it is embarassing to hear that even though they have been made aware of their conduct, our club keeps repeating it again and again and are no longer involved in discussion of various important issues between clubs. but the way our club is being run, it is probably what we deserve.

14 Jun 2015 16:31:31
So it mainly hinges on if the other club accept Hernanes in a deal for Kondogbia? The fee we agreed for the player still stands at being agreed however so if they don't want Hernanes there is more of a chance of Kovacic being sold to us to raise the money they need?

Ffs very frustrating Ed isn't it. It could well still happen then?

{Ed002's Note - Kondogbia will have a say in it as he is available and there is a great deal of interest in him.}

14 Jun 2015 16:44:52
Do you no were Kondogbia wants to go to Ed?

I really want Kovacic to come to us it's so frustrating

{Ed002's Note - Kondogbia will, I would think, take his time to see what options are available.}

14 Jun 2015 16:48:20
As far as I'm aware Kondogbia is close to join AC Milan and that would increase our chances. Am I some kind of right? As a Croatian I would be delighted if this transfer goes through

{Ed002's Note - Kondogbia has had varying fortunes since moving to Monaco and whilst they were willing to let him move on both in the summer and, if the price was right in January, the only interested clubs have immediately back down for financial reasons. Monaco has FFP problems and they will certainly be looking to sell players this summer. Manchester City have a firm interest in Kondogbia as a possible replacement for Yaya Toure, and Juventus, Inter, Roma and Milan remain interested. Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal may well rekindle their previous interest in Kondogbia - but all will look to other players first.}

Hi eds really good site been reading for a while but never posted.

Not having ago here by the way just don't understand how one minute it was just a case of it being finalised pretty, much done deal, then to not agreed. In the first post on this thread you mention that LFC after making a joke €10M bid came back with an offer closer to the asking price but no final agreement, this was after u said the fee and what not had been agreed and then say after that that inter, whilst agreeing a fee with Liverpool were still looking for another bidder.

Just seems that maybe u jumped the gun and I've always found this site to be very reliable and just wondering as u seem very clued up how u could of gone from one end to the spectrum to the other.

Cheers fellas

{Ed002's Note - They agreed the fee and bonuses verbally - that doesn't stop them from looking for another bidder. I explained that there was another issue at the time - you have conveniently forgotten that. It has certainly not gone from one end of the spectrum to the other. I explained the situation as it was - but it is clearly the wrong thing to do and I will not be providing anything like that level of detail again - then you will have nothing more to complain about.}

14 Jun 2015 19:30:33
Ed, don't be put off mate by posters questioning what info you give us. You couldn't of been more helpful and informative about the situation, of which could still very much happen right?

{Ed002's Note - There have been a great deal of complaints about it this afternoon. It is not worth the grief for me.}

14 Jun 2015 20:16:12
That's a shame ed002. Some posters expect info before any deal is finalised and if/when things turn out against what was said by the eds/macca, it's almost as if they're to blame when clearly anything can happen in football. If you need a reminder, think back to the whole Robinho Chelsea/City fiasco.

Eds your live info is the only thing many posters and I trust, please ignore the other few idiots.

14 Jun 2015 21:57:37
So irritating Ed02 I feel your pain. Saddens me that that message 'not having a go' was one of several messages you would have got.

14 Jun 2015 22:17:35
Something is going on at Liverpool that is doing my head in, why can't we just sign players that we want like man u do, every window there is a saga with a player we are after, if we need the player make a reasonable bid for him not a Mickey Mouse bid.
We are Liverpool we are still a very big club we should be able to attract the best with good negotiators, this mess needs to be sorted out in our club ffs.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have signed three players they wanted already this summer. It is embarrassing to read such nonsense.}

14 Jun 2015 22:27:53
Eds thanks for your insight into the kovacic deal. Just wanted to ask some questions regarding Liverpools dealings with other clubs. Is this something that has become an issue since FSG took over or is it legacy from H&G that hasn't been resolved? Also if the club have been made aware that their professionalism is lacking in deals, have FSG done anything to address it? Or is has it been shoved into the infamous internal review? Do you personally see Liverpool being able to change this perspective? I can see this becoming more of a long term major issue for Liverpools future than the current issues with our manager/couches

{Ed002's Note - It is a reasonably recent issue - since FSG arrived. You need to remember that all clubs try to buy players and are unsuccessful. Liverpool has a larger turnover with players than pretty much anyone - so transfers are happening. I rather doubt Liverpool care what other clubs, at least the more major clubs, think of them.}

14 Jun 2015 22:33:59
Di Marzio: "Inter sent 15mil+ Hernanes who is estimated at 18mil for Kondogbia. However, Milan responded with 30mil straight cash deal and they are now leading a race to sign him". Spot on with Hernanes explanation Ed, really appreciate your work.

14 Jun 2015 22:46:15
Thanks ed much appreciated!

14 Jun 2015 22:57:29
I'm sorry ed002 but I've been watching the Reds for almost 40 years but lately there never seems to be a plan, we seem to go for players half heartedly, I don't want this great club to fall apart, we are not that far away from a good side but we seem to be in a mess with a few issues like transfers and Rodgers is he right man or not also I think there is more to the sterling issue, it's strange why he would want to leave when he is with a lot of good young talent
Ibe, coutinho, sterling, can, Moreno , Henderson and few others coming through
Thank you and nothing against you eds but I'm getting a gut feeling there is problems ahead.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool bought in a bucket load of players each year since the owners arrived. This summer has seen three already agreed - hardly an issue.

Sterling is suffering from bad advice. With the two other recent issuettes and the problems over the signing of the contract, I suspect that the club are getting pretty sick of him at this time. Typically clubs don't like this sort of thing happening and they certainly don't like it happening in the public domain - sadly Rodgers is happy to air all of the in house issues with anyone who will listen.} There is nothing at all happening with Sterling right now and the club have said they will discuss matters at the end of the season. Meanwhile, his agent and another representative have been trying to gauge interest from other clubs. It is nothing to do with the other kiddies at the club.}

14 Jun 2015 23:01:20
Yeah, thanks a lot eds! Don't bother with the whiners. They will always find something to whine about :)

14 Jun 2015 23:08:36
Thanks edd 002 for info, btw I support the Reds thru thick and thin always will far from a whinger.
