Can we tell if selling Sterling was a success??

It all depends what we do with the money.

I was told tonight the deal was done back in Feb.

Only time will tell.

If we sign no more quality then yes i believe it was .

Lets wait and see.

I also believe Benteke is nailed on, i also think he would be a great signing.

Cheers

Macca

Cheers Macca I think benteke will work as long as he can be coached properly to play high press atacking football if he stands still it'll be a nightmare, but pace power and a good finish he can be as good as he wants to be!

13 Jul 2015 07:05:47
Thanks Macca.

I heard your busy these days but do let us all know if you hear anything juicy you can share.

13 Jul 2015 07:12:47
Thanks macca congrats on the new job lad! 😏

13 Jul 2015 07:32:07
Macca you are not at all cautious over the ridiculous fee Villa are asking, for a striker whose form consistently fluctuates? Surely better out there for the price.

13 Jul 2015 07:33:08
Is Macca really Gary McAllister?

13 Jul 2015 07:50:17
Cheers macca

If the deal was done in Feb than why has sterling been acting like an absolute tool.

Have you heard anything else about possible targets?

Cheers

13 Jul 2015 08:42:55
Done in feb, That doesn't make sense why would city let a 49 mill player train with Liverpool upto the 11th of july knowing he could be injured, it would of been official on july 1st. also ed confirmed during june and july no deal had been struck even saying bids had been rejected. You also said we were in for Kono but ed confirmed we were not even interested. I think your contact has been caught out and is now given false info mate.

13 Jul 2015 08:49:54
who's the next big liverpool player to be sold?

13 Jul 2015 09:03:34
Yeah I don't understand it being done in Feb, why would city make the two bids that were rejected if an agreement was already in place.

13 Jul 2015 09:45:40
the fee might not have been agreed in feb. why do people have a dig at macca I look forward to his posts things must change all the time regarding transfers in football keep the info coming macca much appriciated

13 Jul 2015 10:00:27
Cheers Macca, congrats on the new role, have a word in Brendans ear when plan A does not work and he goes back to plan A. Please also let's see Ibe and Illori get there chance this season. Keep up the good work.

Bad

13 Jul 2015 10:08:39
I think it is already a success as keeping a player with such a poor attitude and agent is toxic for the club. I think once Benteke is done i think we have had a good window, maybe want one more signing

13 Jul 2015 10:22:47
Not having a dig at him mate, I appreciate the info as well. I was just questioning the deal done in February bit.

13 Jul 2015 10:29:34
Thanks Macca. If the deal was done back in February, why all the ruckus by his agent and him, I wonder?

{Ed023's Note - I assume Macca means that the deal was done with Ward?}

13 Jul 2015 10:47:40
That makes sense. I think that just shows how much of an arrogant little chap Ward is. If the deal was sold back in Feb, he didn't need to indulge in all that disrespecting. And it also probably explains Sterling not reacting to the nonsense his childish agent was blowing about.

13 Jul 2015 12:13:04
Macca,
welcome back.
Surely now is not the time for everyone to be panicking or speculating over your identity.
We shall just enjoy your input.

OK Eds, did Liverpool have to pay Agents Fees for Mr Ward on this one please ?

{Ed002's Note - What is paid by the selling club would typically include:
(a) If the player is under 24 and moving between different football associations, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received (apportioned 5% of the contribution for each year from the season of his 12th birthday to the season of his 15th birthday and 10% of the contribution for each season from his 16th to 23rd birthdays).
(b) If the player moves to a higher category club (all clubs being categorised 1 to 4) then Training Compensation is due for the period of age 12 to 21. Compensation is due to all clubs when the player turns from amateur to professional and thereafter only when he moves from his final training club to another club. The initial training compensation is levied at the training costs associated with Category 4 clubs. The subsequent figure is agreed between the sides or tribuneral if necessary.
(c) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(d) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).
(e) Any money contractually due to a previous club as the result of a sell-on clause.

Aidy Ward has not lied. He stated several times that he had agreement in principle from several EPL teams and one European team. What they could not have known was that LFC would play hardball on cost and it seems all but one team pulled away from a potential deal. Well done to our people behind the scenes (we need to stop being seen as an easy target to get players from. This will help.
Thanks Macca for the great information you provide when you can, it is appreciated by most of us here.

13 Jul 2015 13:28:46
Many thanks Ed002 (and well wriggled out of my first question Ed001, haha).
Regarding the February timescale that Macca mentioned, I had read something similar on another forum but put it down to a Franky Scouser - type conspiracy theory, haha.
But Reynard's explanation makes more sense.
Oh well Ed002, maybe Sterling will rot in Man City's reserves !?
Shame about all this, good player and sorry to lose him actually but that's life.

{Ed002's Note - (1) Apologies - it is the buying club that pay the agent fees. (2) I am not aware of what Macca has said about Sterling or February, but it has been evident for some time that a resolution was required this summer. Manchester City were the only one of the clubs that enquired who sustained an interest and it is far from a surprise that a deal will soon be concluded.}

13 Jul 2015 14:33:53
Thanks for the info Macca ^_^

13 Jul 2015 14:55:31
Thanks for the Update Macca.

Congrats on the job ;)

13 Jul 2015 17:19:41
Why is it a surprise that the deal was done in Feb?

Sterling and Ward's loutish behaviour the past few months now makes perfect sense.

This reminds me of all the brouhaha in the summer of Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid. After it was announced that he had joined Real, a Real official said the deal had been done six months ago.

13 Jul 2015 23:07:46
Thanks Macca, and apologies for my ignorance, for two years now I have thought u were Steve McManaman

14 Jul 2015 10:50:45
Turns out it's a mystery for us all wobs. Maybe it's Paul McCartney? He has liverpool connections after all!

14 Jul 2015 13:21:08
Guys macca is none other than John Aldridge

14 Jul 2015 13:21:36
Maybe Jason Mcateer?

14 Jul 2015 23:44:54
If I recall correctly when the ever elusive Macca first started posting, there was strong suggestion that it was in fact Jason McAteer. I'm pretty sure it's him not Steve Mc or Gary Mc.

15 Jul 2015 00:09:06
Nah, I've heard stories about Jason Mcateer - there's no way his spelling or grammar is that good! Have you heard the one about the wooden coat hanger with Jason and Razor?!
