Hi Eds,

Tried searching for this but couldn't really find a recent post (and wasn't too sure what to search for), so if you're feeling nice could you give us an update on what players we are interested in for the Winter transfer?

Kopchu.

{Ed002's Note - Scouts are continuing to look at players but I cannot say if anything significant will happen in January - as clubs are typically not keen on selling.

Dortmund would be open to letting Subotic leave so I don't think that would compromise the promise made by Klipperty - and it would not be out of the question to see Liverpool look to him.

Patricio has been looked at before and has been looked at again (on more than one occasion this season) - it does't mean there is particular interest but they are keeping him in mind.

El Ghazi has been watched by Liverpool and a whole bunch of other clubs. Sane is similar to El Ghazi - a lot of clubs have been looking at him, including Liverpool.

Liverpool are one of the clubs who have enquired after Birmingham's Demarai Gray - albeit before Klipperty arrived.

Liverpool had scouts at a Porto match (against Maccabi Tel Aviv), I don't know who they were looking at as several Porto players are attracting attention (Martins Indi, Brahimi and Neves). It issms unlikely that any of these will be moving to Liverpool in January.

PSGs Lamine Ba has been of interest to Liverpool but he would be an unlikely addition to the first team squad.

Liverpool, along with Stoke and in Particular Bournemouth, are looking at Leeds' Lewis Cook, and additionally Liverpool has maintained their interest in Sam Byram. Another left back looked at is Lorient's Raphael Guerreiro.

I suspect a lot of what will happen going forward will be dependent on sales as well.}

I was under the impression klopp had come out and said that there was no agreement/promise made that he wouldn't buy players from b. d? Unless I read it wrong? Cheers eds.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp said there was no agreement between the clubs - and there was never any suggestion that there was. Previously he said he would not return to Dortmund for players.}

Hi eds

Have liverpool looked at Byram as a left back? Having watched him over the last couple of years I can't remember him ever playing there. As far as I am aware, and correct me if I am wrong, he has been used at right back and as a right winger.

{Ed002's Note - suspect as a left back.}

Thanks eds.

I think byram's contract runs out at end of the season.

Ed2, pretty please.

If purchases are going to be likely dependant on sales - who do you see the club looking to off load?

Big ta in advance.

Rob.

{Ed002's Note - The club need to balance the books like other clubs do each season. This year we see yet again that Liverpool is top of the tree for spending money on "agents", they have also unloaded a management team and spent a great deal of money on new players. Folks have gone on on loan - some on a sale to buy - and that may fee up some little funds for January (albeit the money won't come until post May. It is hard to see significant sales before the summer. As I have said before, the right player at the right price and something can be done for January - but at best it will impact next season. As for Reus, Hummels, Pato, Xhaki, Gundogan and ter Stegen - it is a tough call to see these folks arriving in January. There are some decent players out there that the club may want to start building a summer plan on - but clubs are never keen on January sales - so it really is hard to call Rob. Obviously a decent offer (perhaps £3M or so) for Enrique could see him move on.}

Cheers for that Ed!

I won't ask about Reus, Hummels, Pato, Xhaki, Gundogan and ter Stegen - but it's a nice thought!

Four of those would strengthen our squad for sure, but look at Reus as a prime example - who would we unload to bring him in?

Benteke - I would be surprised if we recouped the money we spent on Lewandowski Lite.
Sturridge - maybe, I suppose.
Ings - "a shrewd buy", young player for the future, doubtful to leave.
Origi - wouldn't be enough to balance the books
Firmino - come on.
Couthino - really? Really?
Lallana - hmmmm, has looked solid-ish so far since Klopp has arrived.

There are other MF players but with Reus' attacking nature these are the only players I would have thought he could
"replace" as a player in a similar mould.

You could make similar comparisons for some of the other players - although I would have thought that a keeper must now be priority. I like Migs, but he worries me.

I guess it all comes down to the owners' appetite to spend. Considering what they have already spent, albeit partly through some selling of players, I would not say it's inconceivable that they shell out again (although if the money is there, now is arguably the time with FFP being relaxed) but it is surely improbable. Just my speculative perception as a fan from the sidelines.

With the exception of a few positions that undoubtedly need strengthening Klopp has got our squad playing pretty well; there's a lot of promise so why mess with what's working?

Cheers again Ed.

If offered, I'd grab that £3M for Enrique and head for the hills.

Ed. funds won't arrive in May. Pretty much every transfer is spent over years. Liverpool still receiving money for the Suarez deal.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you mean - Liverpool have sent players on loan to buy deals with the funds due at the end of the season - they are relying on that money to balance the books.}
