Evening Ed's

Danny Murphy has suggested that Gary Cahill would be an ideal signing for Liverpool. Do you know the situation regarding Cahill, is he wanting to leave Chelsea?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - You really need the Chelsea page for this but as Mr Murphy has suggested he might be a decent buy I will say a little perhaps. Firstly I don't know what the player wants but right now the interim manager is picking Kurt Zouma ahead of him. Whilst Chelsea are just about to sign a new centre back they have let one leave (who won't be coming back). As such it seems unlikely that Chelsea would want to sell in January but if an acceptable offer were made then the club would not stand in the way of the player if he wanted to leave. It is also fair to say two other things of note: (a) Chelsea are aware of another side who will look for a deal for Cahill in the coming days, (b) Liverpool are overrun with centre backs and looking to add Matip for next season - so an offer now is perhaps not a priority for them.}

Whilst we may be awash with CBs how many of them are proven to that level and playing to the level we need. If Cahill were interested he'd be a good buy until we can settle longer term side.

ed you say overrun with centre backs but i'd argue none of them are of good enough quality and we had to play consecutive games with a player being played out of position at CB (Lucas vs stoke and Enrique in fa cup) so we don't exactly have too many CB's, yes I know we were struck with a stupidly unlucky spell of injuries but i'd say that Sakho and Toure are now injury prone, caulkers gone at the end of the season (along with toure) and Lovren gets more than his fair share of injuries. Therefore if a CB of the quality and as proven as Cahill became available at a sensible price I would've thought it'd be a great deal for us and more beneficial than signing yet another attacking midfielder to be played out of position up front (Teixera)

{Ed002's Note - Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Caulker is overrun. Yes, they had to make do when folks were injured in a couple of games. Tough.}

I see no point in signing him, never really been impressed by him, plus at 30 years old and on a whacking great salary (new contract only signed last year? ), would be a complete waste of money.

Are there any positions we aren't "overrun" with players for? . its buy to improve not buy to bulk up, personally I think Cahill would be ideal, he has a desire to play and a desire to prove himself fit for an England shirt this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has a massively bloated squad and a set of fans who don't appreciate any of them. The owners have provided funding for the marquee players demanded by the fans (Benteke being the latest) and still the fans bleat and moan like pre-pubescent girls. There is no winning as far as the club goes. Fans have jeered the team and a previous manager this season dragging down the team and demoralizing - and now months later they are looking for excuses for the new manager. The money has been borrowed creating significant debt - but the fans crave money to be spent not worry about who on - as long as it is lots of money. It is a sad indictment of the modern day football fan - and Liverpool is not the only club where this is happening we are seeing the same at Manchester United who now have the modern day toxic fan base of their own. Liverpool fans pretty much expect the players to all be changed in the summer for the German "superstars" they are holding their dicks over at the moment. Then we will be back to the usual cycle - debt, transition, excuses, transition, Stevie G comes out of prison and takes over as the manager, new players, more debt, transition, yadda, yadda, yadda.}

Sorry Ed but it was Rodgers appalling tactics that dragged the team down. Had been like that for 18 months. Do agree that we don't need Cahill. considering that Lovren is close to fitness we'd be over run with centre backs.

I would of said flicking instead of holding ed.

I have to agree with you ed002: the same fans who harp on about there being a summer clear out will be the first to slag off any new arrivals as soon as we lose a game. Expectations are ludicrous and understanding is nonexistent.

So true Ed002,I blame the Xbox and the football manager game they got for Xmas.

..............cretinous post removed...............

{Ed002's Note - There is always one brain dead dumb fuck like you. And you do personify the moronic vegetable life that some football fans live. Just the knuckle dragging moron who wants to make it about someone else. Truly an embarrassment for Liverpool fans everywhere.}

Not for one second do i think that Liverpool are buying players due to fan pressure. Nor have i heard Liverpool fans jeering players or even the manager. I think its too easy to lay the blame of everything wrong at Lfc at the feet of the fans. The fans don't pick the players or get taken in by 100 page dossiers. They might suggest players on here, but what do they know? They don't scout them and then massively over pay for them, only to be sold at a fraction of the cost. I would suggest the results demoralize the team, its all there for everyone to see. Maybe some discontent at Anfield, yes but jeering no. Show some clips of the fans jeering the ex manager and fans. Easy to say and harder to prove in my opinion. I have said this before but the issue with Lfc starts at the very top, starting with Fsg. If the don't make the right appointments then it has a ripple effect all the way thru the club. If they are buying players and sacking and indeed hiring managers then they are not such the great owners that you say they are. Hiring Dalglish on the fans advise and still buying players 5 years later to appease the fans as you suggest? There is your starting point. Cheers.

Ed I agree that Liverpool is overloaded with players but that is only because year after year we overpay and buy average players who are not good enough then we are stuck with them because most teams won't pay what we need so we can at least redeem some money. Yes we want marquee signings but I can tell you the majority of the fans did not want Benteke, Balotelli, Borini, Carrol especially at the prices we paid. We moan because no one listens to what the fans want. Its not all spend spend spend we want value for money, a player that will earn his fee and huge salary. We spend huge amounts of money buying players that go out on loan and then spend more money on replacing them with players who are no better than what we allraedy had. Its a joke, our transfer committee is useless they are the ones putting the club into debt. The right players are out there at the right price for example Deli Ali, but no he was not worth the gamble but £20 mil on Markovic was. The transfer committee should all be sacked as they have not got a clue.

Rex.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously that isn't going to happen.}
