I hear Zielinski will be tied up by the end of the week, possibly as early as Tuesday. Never heard of him until recently, hopefully he has a good euros with Poland. Will he be a starter next season or squad player?

His value suggest be should be a starter. Why should we spend on a squad player. Are we short of squad players with in the club?

Having seen him a few times since our interest has peaked, he will not get in ahead of a fully fit can or Henderson. So unless we are playing 3 in midfield then I can't see him being anything but third choice. And if we do play 3 in midfield we will have a very diorientated midfield because they would all be forward thinking midfielders. As much as can has decent defensive abilities, he's not a defensive minded midfielder meaning we will be caught out because he can't provide sufficient cover or proper positioning. Henderson is a pure box to box player so that will be his job.

Not sure why we are going for this calibre of player, it seems that even with more money klopp will still rather build up players with some level of quality from scratch. I don't think it's the best policy but if it works it's a masterstroke. As it is I think we need to improve the first 11 with proven quality and I think midfield is definitely a position that needs a better player, along with left back, goal keeper and probably even a centre back.

I think that Klopp wants to have young legs for heavier rotation in CM next year. Joe allen, even though he has had great impact from the bench, does not fit the 90 minutes style we are trying to implement, and neither does Lucas. I was hoping for Dahoud, but Ziellinski seems like a high-potential talent, him, Grujic and maybe Stewart will be covering for Captain H and Emre next year, with Millner and Lucas providing an option when a 3-men midfield is needed.
At least, that is what I am expecting. Who knows, a pre-season with Klopp might mould Ziellinski into our very own Gundogan, he has the potential based on what I have read on his statistics.

Pictures shown of him wearing a Liverpool shirt given to him by a polish tv channel. By no means a done deal, but would you put it on if there wasn't interest?

15 May 2016 22:15:21
Reports coming out, he will sign by Wednesday.

16 May 2016 01:05:57
This is what Klopp does sign players nobody knows and turns them into sters.

16 May 2016 02:19:54
I'm hoping so but do people think grujic and zielinski improve our first 11, not a chance IMO but I hope I'm proved wrong.

16 May 2016 02:37:38
I watched Zielinski 3-4 times this season as there seemed to be interest in the player, and I must say he looked like an ordinary player. He has a good engine and does well going forward and working back, but he is not great at either. He puts in the effort, but I see no outstanding trait in the player other than his running.

Yet interesting AG, many here heap the praise on Milner and Henderson for their running ability while they both lack in other aspects of their games. If Klopp wants Zielinski, who are we to argue with that?

16 May 2016 07:07:10
Brisbane, i disagree. What if klopp decides 10 mil on mertesecker? We as loyal fans of Liverpool must continue to give manager pressure and provide him constructive criticism whichever way we can. No one is above reproach as no one is perfect.

16 May 2016 07:24:25
In support of Redmen Reus a little, most of our team ( Milner, Lovren and Origi for example ) looked shocking until Klopps arrival. 50 games later with Klopp and the improvement is staggering.
Maybe this lad is nothing special now, but Klopp sees he can make him special.

Kova_Kova, a value or price does not indicate whether or not a player should be a starter. It is simply what the selling club were willing to accept and what the buying club were willing to pay to get the deal done.
Vardy £1m and Mahrez £450k started ahead of Okazaki £7m and Kramaric £7m.
It is not about the value of the deal, its is about having the right players at your disposal.

To be fair Brisbane, Milner has contributed to more goals than anyother LFC player this season I believe, so that statement makes little sense to me.

Henderson has his strengths and weaknesses, but I sense this could be a pivotal season for him at LFC.

As for Zielinski, I don't think he is an upgrade on Henderson or Milner. On the subject of questioning Klopp, surely I can put forward my opinion, like everyone else, on what I think? Klopp thought it a good idea to give Migs a 5 year deal, do you think that a good deal? This is just an example. For the majority, I think Klopp has done a good job at LFC so far, but next season is huge, and we cannot keep getting it wrong. Having said that, I hope Zielinski proves me wrong and becomes the signing of the season like Kante.

16 May 2016 09:34:33
AG, apologies if you took my comment as meaning that your opinion doesn't or shouldn't count, didn't mean it to sound this way. I just meant that Klopp seems to have a good record of buying young players and developing them, and if he sees Zielinski or anyone else he may wish to buy important in his plans moving forward, then I for one won't criticize him.

16 May 2016 09:49:36
all you have to look at is how klopp has improved players in our squad who looked very poor, say lovren as an example he was shocking until klopp came here, also look at lewandenski he was nothing that special before he went to dortmund now he's at BMunich and he won a personal award maybe the german top scorer award, so klopp will buy players he knows he can improve and i have faith in him like we all do or should have.

16 May 2016 14:20:57
Don't compare what he did at Dortmund to what he will do at Liverpool. The premier league is a totally different ball game. Yes he can definitely bring in and improve players but in the long term will that win us the league or at least get us challenging, I'm not so sure. Maybe in the bundesliga where there is one team winning it all the time but in the prem it's a lot more competitive. You need proven quality to get you results otherwise it's just a bunch of risks, some players will prosper and some won't and most don't. Everyone's too far ahead of themselves with klopp, he's a world class manager but to say matip, grujic and zielinski are improvements to the first team is ridiculous. None of them have kicked a ball for Liverpool yet is probably what I'll hear but I'm not writing them off, I'm just saying from where I can see it none of them are better than what we have already.

16 May 2016 14:53:48
kman you have read my post wrong, the players i mentioned that we bought was about what he payed for them, its refreshing we are not spending over the odds, but your wrong about players who improve and don't affect the teams finishing place in the prem, leicester has just proved you wrong about needing proven quality to get results, look at the price of vardy and mahrez, vardy came all the way up from the lower leagues and this season he was used the right way for the leicester team, you must want all these big stars who cost over 20 mill for proven quality, what happend to di maria, he was proven quality but could not hack it, the players klopp has bought look good enough for me and i trust him, in the german league BMunich are one of the top teams they are also one of the top teams in europe so its not just beating one team is it, but if you think klopp won't do what he did at dortmund then that's fair enough, i have to disagree with you, just because they way he has improved the players and also the fact he got us into 2 finals, but hey we have not won anything yet but i think we will, and that will bring more proven quality players to our club so you will get what you crave for.

At least let them pull on the jersey and play before deciding if they are any good or not, I made the same mistake regarding danny ings, and what about firmino and origi not to mention dejan lovren all 3 would be long gone by now if we had not given them time, also every signing is a risk, no matter who it is or how much they cost, and Leicester city have blown your theory sky high Kman92, that is a fact my friend.
