I heard from a reliable source this morning that Klopp plans to keep Ilori. Not sure why as he has never looked up to standard and not sure if this will have any affect on our rumoured search for a centre half just passing on the info.

If sakho and Gomez are injured, it makes sense to keep him rather than bringing in someone else.
{Ed002's Note - It makes zero sense given Ilori will be missing from much of pre-season and the start of the season. Maybe Caulker could come on loan to cover for Ilori whilst he is not available.}

It makes more sense to move ilori on to keep from ruining his career further and keep wisdom if we need the cover. If Gomez and sahko injuries aren't that serious then wisdom should move on as well to restart his career.

Sounds like a bad guess.
As Ed002 says, Ilori is going to the olympics so he will be missing during the time that we need cover. By the time he gets back, Sakho and/ or Gomez are both likely to be recovered, so why keep paying his wages if he then drops to 5th or 6th in the pecking order for 2 places?!
Much more sense to keep Wisdom who will be available whilst others aren't, or indeed move them both on and look to Matip/ Lovren starting with Lucas and Brewitt as cover until Gomez and Sakho are recovered. At best we're going to have around 50 competitive games this season, so why keep a bloated squad?

Why assume that keeping him for the time being is to play him? If he is going to the Olympics, as we saw with Joe Allen at Euros, it could raise his value. Why sell cheap now when worst case likely is his value stays as is and best case we can squeeze and extra million or two out of the deal. In terms of buying or loaning a short term replacement, why do that when we have guys already inside the camp who are nearer being up to speed with what Klopp wants than someone from outside. If it is for 4th choice then let's just keep what we have for now.
