Word in the grape vine is that dembele of Celtic has turned down another offer to join Chelsea as he is seeking regular football elsewhere, in your opinion eds are we an option he could go for I we are to make an offer obviously, and do you think he would be a replacement for origi who is growing frustrated at non regular football? Would dembele be our only striker signed in your opinion?

{Ed002's Note - No. He wants a guarantee of being first pick and that won't suit most clubs. I had no idea about Origi's frustration. If Klipperty is so stupid to offer that to him it is obviously an option.}

Agree1 Disagree1

I can see us offering him first pick as at this moment we do not have an out and out first choice striker, we do in origi, but it's obvious klopp does not have full trust in him, dembele would be a good buy imo but not as our main man, but who knows what zee German has planned.

Surely Firmino is our first choice striker. I'm basing this on the fact that when fit he starts as our striker. Hence being first choice.
So not sure where the idea that we don't have a first choice striker comes from.

Would love DEmbele at the club. Would cost close to 30 million but from what i have seen, he is a pure striker who knows how to score all sorts of goals. Sure, Firmino and Origi have their plus points but neither are prolific and every top team needs a pure finisher in their squad.

I think it will depend on outgoings.
If Coutinho is sold, that leaves space for a first team player.

Either Firmino or Coutinho are possible outgoings this summer, depending on whether we get into the CL.

And we don't know whether the interest in Coutinho from PSG will turn into an actual offer that is acceptable- especially given his very poor performances since his injury.

But if Firmino was moved into a slightly deeper role, Klopp might like the option of playing a dedicated and good quality lone striker, and going back to the 4231 he often used at Dortmund.

But to promise Dembele that he will start in x number of games per season (regardless of his form) would in my opinion be a major mistake.
A manager always has to keep the ultimate option of dropping any player who is not performing, for whatever reason.

Scoring for fun in Scotland is one thing but stepping up to the premier league is another.

25 Mar 2017 22:40:37
30 million for a proven striker in the championship and Scottish premiership, I'd rather buy him from Southampton for 55 million when he's done it in the premiership.

Firminio is not a natural striker. Let Coutinio go to Barcelona and let firminio drop back in as an AM. Spend cash on dembele (if that's the best option available) and use the remainder of the cash to add more quality to the squad.

Surely it isn't where but how he is scoring that should be the decider. A player who gets in the right places at the right time and takes the chances will do that most places. Chances are being created every week, the problem is the players aren't always in the right place or don't have the natural finishers instinct. A player who does those adds to the team.

Typical to just lay into Sturridge, huh?

{Ed001's Note - I don't get the hate for Sturridge, it is not his fault England were run by a moron with a chip on his shoulder and caused a bad injury that has affected him ever since. He is one of the most professional players we have ever had at the club, he just is nowhere near fit mentally. The club have not handled him well, pushing him into the team before sorting out his issues, then wondering why he doesn't perform at his best! Doesn't help that we have some fans so keen to abuse one of our best players for something that is not his fault.}

26 Mar 2017 16:21:15
I feel for Sturridge as he's as good as Aquero when he's fit (IMHO) and at his best and he's always conducted himself as a model pro, but the injuries have taken so much out of him that it's hard to argue against selling him and bringing someone else in.

26 Mar 2017 16:49:46
As good as aguero, lol that's a good one, milner is better than maldini at lb aswell.

26 Mar 2017 18:12:53
As a finisher Sturridge when he's fit and on form is as good.

27 Mar 2017 10:53:59
Sturridge is a wimp! Won't play with any sort of niggle. He's also lazy. Should have sold him in the summer we've had the best out of him.

{Ed002's Note - And there we go again - the so called Liverpool fans trashing the players. Maybe the team would do better if they did not have to put up with the sustained abuse from people like you?}

28 Mar 2017 11:53:32
That's football fans for you're everywhere, Ed. Not just Liverpool fans. Primarily, we respond to what we see on the pitch rather than rumours behind closed doors about his mental state, which I'll take your word for.

No doubt, Sturridge is a top player when fit. But that seems to be increasingly few and far between these days. If anything, I'd say most fans have been pretty patient with him.

Me, I like him a lot. Clearly not ideal for the way Klopp sets up but is clearly our best finisher and had never done anything to make me question his character or attitude.

{Ed002's Note - No, the Liverpool fans are by a mile the worst. Sturridge will move on in the summer, I have no doubts. Then there can be someone else for the fans to trash.}
