Brandt to Bayern Munich another target gone, bitterly disappointing he's a great talent.

How is it Liverpool can't get these deals done? Looks like we will be shopping in poundland again this Summer.

01 Apr 2017 00:01:17
Now we need to go all out and get Dembele!

01 Apr 2017 00:04:41
Only source for that I could find was Bild, pretty sure they aren't that reliable.

01 Apr 2017 01:11:36
Same. Bild is notoriously gossipy and often unreliable. I'd wait for more reliable sources to confirm before jumping to conclusions.

How do you even know this? This just sounds like typical whining, once again. Why moan about stuff you can't control whilst having little to no knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes?

But why do fans get caught in media speculation over and over again? Just because we have an interest in Brandt does not mean Liverpool will sign him as there are loads of other clubs chasing his signature.

Just because Brandt may go to Bayern Munich does not mean Liverpool have missed out. The player generally will have the say on where he wants to play, especially when he is a wanted player by many other clubs.

If Liverpool do not sign Brandt then so what. The transfer market does not revolve around Liverpool. People need to start waking up as Liverpool is not the number one destination for big name players. CL qualification may put us in a better position when trying to convince the players we target but at this point Liverpool still need to gain CL qualification so I wish people would stop saying things like "another target gone" as we are definitely not in pole position for Brandt's signature.

STill think we should make a move for Douglas Costa if this is true. May not have the same work rate as Mane but very similar player with ability to score from out of nowhere and offers pace and width and also UCl experience. If Coutinho goes, i would sign both Costa and Rafa Silva.

01 Apr 2017 09:07:44
Would Douglas Costa be willing to sign for Liverpool at this point Indian? He will come to a club which has been starved of success for many moons now. Costa will want to join a club which is winning things. Not leave a club which is winning things to move to a club which has been in transition for over two decades now.

Maxlfc, we can offer him regular first team football and UCL (if we get it) . He is rotting on the Bayern bench right now and also wants a pay rise which i believe LFC are more than capable of offering. So what's the issue? Time to show some ambition.

01 Apr 2017 10:16:49
What about Costa's ambitions? His ambitions vs Liverpool's current state is far apart. We will end up having to pay way over the odds if we wanted to sign Douglas Costa that is if he actually willing to join Liverpool and probably make him our highest earner. This has been done at Liverpool many a time in the past and has always come back to bite us in the behind.

Showing ambition is not always about paying over the odds. Bayern will see Liverpool coming and ask them to pay much more than what other clubs willing to offer. This is the sort of transfer dealings which has seen Liverpool fail time and time again in the transfer market.

What is the bet that Liverpool sealed the deal for Mane by offering more than what others were willing to pay? The same happened with the Firmino deal. Luckily these two signings have panned out so far but you just need to look at a deals like Benteke, Carroll, Markovic, Lovren etc etc and see that paying over the odds can be very detrimental when trying to achieve success.

I am pretty sure Ed002 has mentioned somewhere on this site that Douglas Costa is a pipe dream for Liverpool.

No surprises there. We are howling around Tier 1 and championship players to push for the title next season lol.

01 Apr 2017 13:10:34
So whom should we target Max? Without quality we aren't winning anything not today nor tomorrow. How did City started winning all of a sudden.
Money. Money talks!

I think we'll end up over spending on poor Premier League players like Oxlade Chamberlain or a one season wonder like Mahrez. If we buy that type of player we can pretty much expect another underwhelming transfer window and trophy less season to follow. just because we simply are incapable of bringing in top players.

Love to be proven wrong but just can't see it, we've let Brandt and Dahoud (who were well within our means and very good players) get away, so you have to ask questions as we won't be competing for the very top players which means we shouldn't raise any expectations as Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal will bring in actual world class talent while we pick up the scraps.

Klopp is not going to spend £60m on Van Dijk. He ain't that stupid no matter who much the media want to make fans believe that we are interested in him. Signing Van Dijk at that stupid price could see Klopp loose his job.

Fans seriously need to wake up and realise that Liverpool can no longer be treated like a kid walking in a candy shop with money falling out of the pockets.

Shed loads have been spent on players who were not worth the fee and it seems like Klopp will end this bizarre way of paying over the odds for players. Let's hope so.
