Hey Eds, Is it true, that fenerbache are interested in Origi?
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of an approach but they are looking for a striker and they have already spoken to Chelsea about one.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Would be a good move for all parties. We have Firmino, Sturridge and Solanke all fighting over 1 position. Plus Ings to return who should probably head out on loan.

I think for Origi's career he needs to consider a new challenge as he will struggle for game time; Unless Klopp has lied to Solanke about getting chances, which wouldn't be anything new.

16 Jul 2017 03:21:16
Ive a real feeling that we would regret sellng Origi in the long-term.

16 Jul 2017 03:44:42
You can't put solanke before origi surely. Although he was poor at times he had his moments. I expect origi to step up a level next season, dunno, just a hunch. Ultimately solanke will probably be the better player but not on origis level yet.

16 Jul 2017 03:59:46
MK unless we buy another (expensive) striker there is no way Origi should leave. Do you honestly believe Firminho, Sturridge and Solanke are enough for a title winning team? And why start criticising Klopp over such a simple question?

16 Jul 2017 04:22:21
We also have ings. Regardless of the quality of the strikers we have we are overstocked. We have 5 looking for 1 spot. I do think if we sold origi we may live to regret it but we can't just keep hold of him and hope he suddenly becomes a world beater, because he won't. Not whilst he is 3rd choice playing a few games here and there. He has potential but i think he needs to maybe take a loan somewhere to show he will improve.

16 Jul 2017 04:40:25
If we would sell Origi I would hope it would be for 20m+, with Ings and Sturridge you have 2 strikers who have had 2 bad seasons with injuries if this continues then selling Origi would leave us light. We need our best starting 11 for Champions League and the BIG EPL games. Origi, Ings, Woddburn and Solanke are our starters for EFL / FA Cup games against the likes of Bury or Fleetwood. Origi and Ings should be able to do a job for us against the likes of Huddersfield, Watford or Everton.

16 Jul 2017 07:44:51
Klopp has used Origi on the left and right of the 3 at times so I can see him being very much a squad player again this season. As much as I like Sturridge it's a massive gamble to start planning for him being fit for the majority of the season. Ings is a non starter for me due to the seriousness of his injuries, I think he will go out on loan or play u23 football. Plenty of games this season and I also believe that Origi is ahead of Solanke in the pecking order. Hopefully we will see some different formations played out especially against the bus parking teams which may see more than 1 striker on the pitch.

16 Jul 2017 08:04:03
Seem to be a few things being overlooked and assumptions made here;
the same striker won't/ can't play every game up top due to the increased number of games we're playing next season;
2 of our strikers are very injury prone;
Substitutions will be made during games;
We may play 2 up top at times as we did towards the end of last season;
There is a big difference between Klopp lying and changing his mind based on what he sees. You can't make a 'promise' and stick to it if no longer deemed best for the team. The player has to play his part too by maintainIng performance levels and following coach's instruction.

16 Jul 2017 08:25:54
Ings will be allowed to recover this year and will play next to no games this season.
Solanke is way behind Origi in terms of development and will play U23's. Origi will be needed this season and needs to step up his levels or he could be gone next year otherwise.

16 Jul 2017 08:44:40
Really, we just got origi and you lot want to sell him off already. Well i remember origi carrying the team for a few weeks a couple of seasons aho and see the huge potential there. He is a good young striker who needs nuturing not throwing on the scrapheap much like you all advocated with karius last season and got your wish.

16 Jul 2017 08:55:51
IMO if anyone is going it will be Ings out on loan unless he has a fantastic pre season. Only because of the bad injuries the lad needs proper game time. Klopp seems to like Origi and he has had experience of playing in European matches so unless the club are thinking of bringing someone else in Origi won't be leaving because we have a lot of games next season.

16 Jul 2017 09:35:32
I hope Origi stays.

16 Jul 2017 09:55:29
I'd keep Origi as a squad player, seem to remember him scoring quite a few times off the bench last season?
If anybody needs a loan for full fitness and match time it would be Ings.

16 Jul 2017 10:09:06
Well somebody better tell Solanke he is 5th choice and playing in the u23's because that is not what Klopp has been saying. The main reason he left Chelsea was to play more football.

I will agree that Origi is better right now, but that is why he should move. Firmino and Sturridge are going to be the 2 main strikers this season. Solanke will probably play cup games and come off the bench in the league. Mane and Salah can play through the centre as well if needed. Brewster from the academy is also expected to be knocking on the door by Christmas. Ings might spend the whole season in the u23's to recover anyway so where would Solanke fit in that scenario? A few sub appearances in the Mountain Dew Cup or whatever the hell It's called now? Do you people actually want Solanke to be another Markovic/ Ilori/ Texeira? A young player we sign with massive potential but then ruin there careers by having no plan for their development and not giving them a leaf path to the first team? If that is the case we really ought to stop signing teenagers and making them promises. Grujic is already at risk of suffering this fate, especially if we sign Keita. I will be a little bit angry if Klopp does exactly what Rodgers did to young players.

We are well over stocked up front. Origi is not good enough to start, but too good to play in the reserves. It is quite simply selfish of fans to want to hinder Origi's development or have Solanke lied to and his career stagnate. He wants to take the next step, saw no way to do that at Chelsea, so has cone to Liverpool to take that step.

We don't need a new striker unless Origi and Sturridge leave. Solanke has been added though and it is only common sense for one of them to move on to make space for him in the squad. You can't just keep signing people with promises of game time and not sell anyone. That is a recipe for disaster.

It's only an opinion anyway guys, there is no need to get upset.

{Ed002's Note - Actually guarantees of football were the reasons a number of youngsters have left Chelsea but Solanke went because Chelsea would not meet the requested financial demands.}

16 Jul 2017 10:38:24
Solanke wanted money. I personally can't blame him as he looks a real talent short and long term. Origi shouldn't be sold. seriously guys he is 22 and chips in with some important goals with us. Pretty sure he was challenging Sturridge for his spot last year even when Dan was fit. Klopp can use his versatility to play him on the wings or behind a striker if need be. Can easily see Solanke and Origi playing cup games together. Origi will still get 30 35 games this season (a lot from the bench but still) and he gets better every year we have had him.

16 Jul 2017 10:35:01
Thanks for the info Ed002. I'm not sure if you've seen it though, but Klopp has been speaking to the press about how Solanke will get chances in the first team this season. To me, whether that is said directly to the player or not, that is a promise of game time which should be honoured by any honourable man.

If that presser was all lies and Solanke is intended for the u23 team, then I feel sorry for Brewster who worked incredibly hard to get there and will be replaced by another teams academy player; but also Solanke who will have read the comments. From what you've just said now though I'm starting to think this was another case of trigger happy Liverpool stockpiling talented young players with no idea how to help them progress.

I can see it now: Summer 2020, 22 year old Solanke joins Reading for just £2m after failing to get a chance at Liverpool 🙄.

{Ed002's Note - Solanke was told the same.}

16 Jul 2017 11:24:42
Thanks Ed.

16 Jul 2017 12:09:08
If you look closely at his game, the only real major weakness he has so far is his decision making, it often seems that he doesn't know what he should do where and when.

If you consider his qualities, he's fast, strong, decent at finishing when he gets a chance and he actually has genuine skill on the ball, the type of skill that you rarely see from players. It shows he certainly has confidence which you really shines when he has a run of good form. I once thought Lukaku was just an average one trick pony who would never fulfill his early potential and in a lot of ways, Origi reminds me of him, I believe he just needs thorough coaching to work on his decision making and he could become a really top striker.

16 Jul 2017 17:23:32
Mk, I have to say I do like some of your posts, but I'm not with you on this.

You say we should make space for Solanke because he needs game time to improve.

That space should be made by getting rid of a young lad who needs game time to improve!

I can't understand that logic? Why Solanke over Origi?

What happens in 2 years or so when we bring in another youngster. do we get rid of Solanke because the new lad needs game time?

As for Klopps promises. I'm sure he tells every new signing that they will get game time if they perform well enough. I would expect any manager to do the same. If they don't perform then they don't play. That isn't always the managers fault. it's generally the players.

Besides. Solanke wasnt promised any regular 1st team footy when the Liverpool spoke to him last Xmas and persuaded him to come to us!

16 Jul 2017 20:03:39
Everyone needs to remember origi is only 22 years old and has scored some important goals even though his role in the team is unclear at the moment he won't get sold for the simple fact where are you going to find another striker of his age group or quality that won't cost an arm or a leg l.

16 Jul 2017 22:46:34
I don't know if I'm right in saying this so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me. But I don't think Solanke can play for the u23's because of his age and our academy transfer ban on home grown players? Not sure if I'm right on that, could someone clear this one up? Ed's?

{Ed002's Note - He can play for the Under 23 side.}
