He did say it was his opinion that coutinho would stay, not see in stone, in just hoping he's right about VVD and keita.

11 Aug 2017 21:01:22
Even make up something if you have to Macca mate.

11 Aug 2017 21:14:46
Desparate for positive news.

11 Aug 2017 21:26:34
Carra said on Sly Sports that he thinks Couts will stay for this season . after that, it would be better for both parties, that he left .

11 Aug 2017 21:32:55
the positive news is that the club have done just about everything they can to help coutinho make a decision to stay. but he wants to go. now we do what we can to help coutinho and help the club.

11 Aug 2017 21:37:43
Coutinho will stay, tho I would prefer if we got top dollar for him, buy his replacement, and move on .

11 Aug 2017 22:14:17
Problem is "redforever" nobody will sell us their best players as its too late in the window - same reason we don't want to sell Couts.

Everyone keeps saying 'replace him' - with who? It's been made clear that Navy K isn't for sale sadly.

No, it's too late in the window I'm afraid. I think an agreement to let him leave next summer is more than fair.

11 Aug 2017 22:16:12
I agree red. I think the owners statement is too specific to go back on. In a World Cup year he'll have to give us his all for one more season then he can move on. Good luck to him, especially for this season ;-)

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with the world cup - he wants to leave.}

11 Aug 2017 22:31:32
He wants to leave and we are dealing with a very similar situation for an incoming player. Poss fsg setting a president i. e. U can't keep a player against his wishes when he wants to play for a specific team? Heard hoping lol.

11 Aug 2017 22:53:22
Red Bull have flatly resisted every bid by lfc, and every effort by Keita to force a move.

And so far, at least in public, Saints have flatly refused VVDs attempts to force a move.

Why can't lfc just do exactly the same with Coutinho? Turn him down flat, let him train alone for six weeks and don't let him near a pitch, and see if he changes his attitude by October.

If his attitude changes, we gain a vital player for the really difficult period around december and jan when we have so many injuries.

If he continues to sulk after Oct, then we will have effectively wasted a few million on his salary for the season, and he also risks losing his starting place in the national team.

For me there is a decent chance he will perform well once he settles after the window closes, but it is possible we will be paying a player millions to rot in the u23s because his attitude is not right for a PL campaign.

11 Aug 2017 23:05:08
just let him go and live his life the way he wants.

11 Aug 2017 23:24:50
He would almost certainly lose transfer value spending half a season in the reserves aswell as other clubs having added bargaining power, look at sakhos value with clubs knowing he has no future here, we'll probably miss out of 10 million of his 'value'

11 aug 2017 23:24:09
at the end of the day, there is the clubs interests to be considered.

if couts goes, then one way or another klopps posistion is weakened as he has publicly stated that the player was priceless and not for sale.

if couts goes then klopp could walk out along with his back room staff, who have all signed bumper contracts with the club.

so the bumper pay day the club would receive would be spent paying up their contracts.

lfc could lose their best player, their management set up and 100mill.

there's nothing to consider from the clubs perspective,

couts stays,

simples.

12 Aug 2017 01:58:46
If Klopp quits, then he negates all payouts, right? It's only if you're sacked that you get a pay off is it not?

12 Aug 2017 02:03:07
Pretty sure you're not entitled to a payout if u walk?

12 Aug 2017 02:11:49
That statement about the staff, hahaha. Why would LFC pay out their contracts of they decide to walk away? Somebody needs to understand how contracts work. Just wow.

12 Aug 2017 02:16:29
If they walkout their contracts aren't paid off? Only if they're sacked. So that's not true.

12 Aug 2017 07:19:44
Coutinho is not sulking or anything of the like, people need to get over that. He, one individual player, wants to move job. It happens. It is no different to Keegan or Rush leaving. Also we don't need a replacement in his position as Salah and Firminho can cover the positions. What should be done is to make it clear the club is selling cos the player wants to make the move and because Barcelona have pressured him to make the move now when the preference was next season. Then placate Klopp by pushing just as hard for the couple of players he wants. Personally I'd like to see a natural finisher and a top defensive player but one minor problem is I can't see where they would be.

12 Aug 2017 08:05:56
People are just pissed at the timing of his move. The season starts in a few hours : (.

12 Aug 2017 08:12:12
It depends on Klopps contract.

I was assuming that in klopps contract he would have a clause about having final say on who goes and who stays.

And after publicly stating the player stays, if the club them sold the player, they would be in breach of contract, ergo be liable.
It is possible.

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense.}

12 Aug 2017 09:59:11
I hope your right Ed.
If you look at my original post,
I was just thinking how things possibly Could pan out, given the ineptitude of the clubs dealing in the transfer markets.

But if you say its nonsense then that is that.

{Ed002's Note - It is complete nonsense.}
