Just wanted people's and eds opinion, it's being commonly said that couts is going to replace iniesta who is probably in his last full season and understandably, couts is scared that if Barcelona don't buy him now, they'll move to another player so won't want him next season, everyone crying out for one more season, who would accept £100 million with him staying on a season long loan? Highly unlikely I know but it was mentioned kind of in the bar tonight and was just curious of other people's thoughts.

I would prefer more money now.
A season long loan is pointless, he'd have nothing to play for. If the player is not committed to LFC then they are no use to us.

11 Aug 2017 23:18:58
Why would Barcelona ever do that, the reason why coutinho is wary that it is now or never is because they want a player to come in now . buying now and loaning back would be moronic from barcelonas point of view, especially if your paying 100 million. My opinion anyway.

11 Aug 2017 23:44:10
Ck14,i wasn't suggesting for one second it was feasible, more just getting views, I'm in agreement with you Ron that I would rather let him go and play someone 100% dedicated in his position so it wasn't me saying I hope this happens, it was only because it was mentioned earlier I wanted to see if this was offered, who would take it?

11 Aug 2017 23:48:12
i want more.

12 Aug 2017 00:01:35
Co - the question was whether you would accept that kind of deal! The answer for me is yup yup and yup! laced with a little bit of hesitation tho knowing that it can be difficult to focus for a long period when you know you're dream move is coming.

If Iniesta can do another season why sell Couts now and leave us short? . Let him go next year and we can find a suitable replacement in the meantime. Oh right it suits Barcelona to get him now and bed him in thus causing us hassle as Ed2 said Liverpool as known for a year he was wanting the men in suits should have had this sorted along time ago.

After getting over the initial shock of pc's tr and having time to think. He should go. I know he will still perform for us if we force him to stay but I've always felt that if a player isn't 100% committed to the club and the player wants to leave it will have a detrimental effect on the club to make him stay. I don't want anyone here who doesn't want to be here. It's that simple really. No matter how good. For that reason sell him. And it's for that reason I think virgil van djike will definitely join and naby kieta too. We can't bank on that (as far as I'm aware) so in the mean time sign lanzini or luan who shouldn't break the bank and although not pc level (but who is! ) They could both do a job for us. I don't know much about luan, he has v good reputation and clips look brilliant but lanzini I feel could really surprise people, the guy is fantastic, very intelligent footballer, very skillful. I could see him scoring 14 assisting 7, absolutely. Then what have we lost? A hefty wage bill. Plus we have a lot of cash. I'm not suggesting lanzini is as good all round player as pc but like I say, he could certainly go 14 g 7 a

That said we don't fully know the pc situation. Papers are making it sound like war between lfc and coutinio family. We all know what women can be like when they don't get their way or have their sights set on something. I don't wanna right off pc yet but if he really has his heart set on the move so much so that he is falling out with people at the club then it's mad to make him stay. It could actually cost us a title, rather than get us closer to one.

I think it should be that Liverpool takes a few days to explore whether there is a realistic chance of signing a top player we'd be happy with - perhaps Keita again for even more money, or Max Meyer, or someone PSG needs to sell (like Matuidi. ) and if we can still strengthen the squad before end of the window then let Couts go. Better for everyone's reputation

If we can't get a player with sufficient quality to strengthen midfield or at striker (so Firmino can drop deeper) then he stays and hope he understands the situation and knuckles down like Suarez did.

I'm worried that unlike Suarez who was turned down from joining Arsenal, Coutinho is being refused from his ultimate dream. Given how strongly he clearly feels now, we should not be blocking that move unless we really have zero choice.

12 Aug 2017 05:07:13
Matuidi to replace Coutinho?

12 Aug 2017 05:27:37
I habe been impressed by Lanzini a couple times. One match i saw i remember thinking this kid kinda termindato me of Coutinho. don't know why so many people say he is crap.

12 Aug 2017 05:27:56
Javier Pastore to replace Coutinho?

12 Aug 2017 06:48:02
Cobra, our wingers this season are going to be Mane and Salah so we don't need a like for like replacement, we just need a player that we think will strengthen the squad. If we got Matuidi, Hendo and Matuidi at base of midfield would be an awesome combo, freeing up Lallana and Gini to play further forward.

The point is we have the freedom to rethink how we shape the team, and we should be bringing in the best player that improves the overall squad. We still have the midfield combo of Hendo/ Gino/ Lallana that was so effective last year remember, so it's not even prescriptive a new recruit even needs to be in midfield IMO. Could potentially be a world class striker like Lewa and dropping Firmino into no.10 (I know never going to happen, just making a point) .

12 Aug 2017 07:12:46
It is a job. People change jobs. And as any other employer does LFC needs to consider if need someone to do that job now he is leaving. Personally I don't think playing position is the issue. The money could be used to bring in someone to have as big an impact in a different position.

12 Aug 2017 07:22:54
LFC will probably sell at 120m Euro now that he has handed in a request to leave, just hope LFC spend it wisely.

12 Aug 2017 07:44:29
LFC should do unto others. Barcelona got a lot for Neymar insist they spend it.

12 Aug 2017 08:06:25
I will be so happy when the transfer window shuts. I don't think I have been this unconcerned about a new season before. I'm usually buzzing but I'm all 'Meh' at the moment. LFC need to get it together in regards to how they do business.

12 Aug 2017 08:43:18
Unconcerned? Our star player wants out and will surely of caused unrest in the camp by handing in a transfer request a day before our first game, can is refusing to sign a contract, our top targets aren't for sale, we are still shockingly bad at the back, same defence as last year, Robertson will be a benchwarmer! For todays game, no coutinho, lallana, sturridge, clyne or lovren! Nothing to be concerned about hey?

12 Aug 2017 09:35:18
Liverpool should give Barcelona 48hrs to put £120 mill on the table in full payment. If they won't then there is no deal and he stays. I don't want to keep anyone who doesn't want to stay. but we must get the maximum we can in order to replace him.

12 Aug 2017 09:37:09
Do on to others?
So when we force the cash out of Barcelona you would like everyone else to do the same to us as we look for replacements?

12 Aug 2017 12:33:44
Should tell Barcelona you can have him at the end of the transfer window for 120mill and between now and then try and get someone in. I don't know if this is possible but I would tell them not to leak this to the press or the deal is off just so other clubs don't know we have 120 mill to spend so they can't inflate their prices. I personally want him gone handing in a TR 1 day before our first game and 4 days before a massive game for us. If he handed the TR in last month i would have wished him all the best but coming out with crap about doing it amicably is bullshit he wanted his 5 percent of the transfer fee.

12 Aug 2017 12:54:55
Unconcerned may have been the wrong word. I meant unconcerned as in, I don't even care the season is starting because pre season has been a let down. Maybe Depressed is a better expression.

12 Aug 2017 15:21:01
Neymar deal has put everyone's head in the clouds. Cannot believe people are calling 90 million a pitance (sorry about spelling) it's 0.1 % of Britain's debt to euro union! Coutinio is class but not the 2nd best player ever. Far from it.

That said, as we are directly affected by the neymar deal we too should see an inflated price. I like the idea of raiding PSG as they must have decent players who need selling.

12 Aug 2017 15:23:16
Easy to say "buy a top striker" but who? This could've been sorted out sooner and we could have seriously gone for lacazette. He looks great and I think we will live to regret not making it happen. Especially if arsenal finish above us.

12 Aug 2017 17:59:16
I think psg cm would be decent. I'm not completely sold on gini wijnaldum. I think he is a pussy. That's why he never scores away goals. He closed his eyes to head the ball today which led to watford equiliser. BEFORE his head made contact! I think goals against city and boro make us think he is better than he is. He's okay, part of me really likes him but I think liverpool lack metal. Imo we have 2 players with real steel in em and that's Hendo and Can. The fact I haven't added a cb in that list really highlights liverpool problem.

Successful lfc teams of the past have been full of "hard" players. Gerrard, hanman, mascherano, hypia, skrtel agger Ince souness mcman. The list goes on. People will say football has changed but chelsea were full of bruisers last year and people will always dislike getting hurt. Kieta znd van djike would certainly give us some edge. It should hurt to play liverpool.

12 Aug 2017 23:05:18
Red sky I don't want it, I fully expect everyone else to want that money cos they will and always have done.
