Hi Ed's

Rumors about Phil Coutinho leaving in the next window are gathering pace.

Do you think we will sell him?

Secondly would love Antoine Griezmann as his replacement. Do you think that's viable?

If not who is a viable replacement and who do you think would work out best for us?

Cheers Ed's.

{Ed001's Note - it is possible but Griezmann will not be the replacement.}

Eds any idea on whom we might to replace him with please? Appreciate this question might get shot down but its not really been said. Lemar expected to go to Arsenal, Rafinha may well arrive as part of the Couts deal but who mate are we or might we turn to to replace Pipco?

{Ed002's Note - THis has been addressed over and over again - not least to you who keep asking the same question over and over again - so once more: Rafinha is out injured but is to be offered to Liverpool - we'll see, but I would think it unlikely. Thomas Lemar remains a possible Coutinho replacement next summer but efforts from another side to strike an early deal have fallen on deaf ears - so unlikely. Julian Draxler will be available, as will other from PSG, but it would be a compromise solution at best as Liverpool have never pushed any interest in him. I remain of the opinion that Julian Brandt is still potentially the "marquee" signing the fans crave and one which has every chance of going ahead - but it could be the summer and note that there is interest from elsewhere, as there is with Max Meyer, another possible option. If Klopp had avoided the stupid antics of the spring and summer something could already have been done.}

Griezmann! that's bloody hilarious that!

And i can't see Barcelona coming close to the asking price either. PSG in the summer are the most likely.

Cheers ed. A few possibles there then even if most follow with "unlikely". I guess will see what develops. Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - January is not the ideal time to be looking to replace players.}

Interesting that Brandt being still a possibility given we signed Salah instead.

{Ed002's Note - It is far from interesting.}

After standing firm in the summer, I’d be very disappointed if the club were to let Couts go in Jan. it’s going to hard enough to replace a player of his quality, will be even more difficult in the Jan transfer window.

{Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

I think the club have shown they can stand their ground but we also know that we can't make players stay indefinitely. The club did it with Suarez, they've done it with Coutinho, to a degree they did with Sterling - players will hopefully know the club won't simply be pressured in the future and may think about how they pursue any transfer ambitions. If this is anything like the case then it's served a purpose, given us time to line up other players and weigh up our options, but Coutinho has to leave at some point. He's not playing well right now, it may end up being a Torres situation where we cash in just in time. Maybe. but whatever the case he will have to go at some point.

that comment from ed002 sounds as if its a real possibility he will be gone in January, which to me is sensible, the player no longer wishes to play for Liverpool fc, so let him go, we will live on without him.

Klopp likes to complete his transfers in the summer window, and he is very set in his ways, so I believe that Couts will move at the end of the season, anyway, who will sell one of their best players in January .

I want rid of him and emre can as good as they are there heart isn't with us and it frees up space for other squad players who are the future for us i. e ox grujic woodburn Wilson etc also if we can bring quality in would b a bonus.

ed002 comments about Julian Brandt actually worry me alot, the guy is an out and out Left winger, where Mane plays. If we seriously sell Coutinho, let Emre leave and then sell Mane something is not right, when will they realize that this endless transition has to stop sometime!

We will imo.

As the OP asked about Griezmann, I thought this would be alright to ask here. What is your opinion of Griezmann, ed001? He's the star of Atleti and he's seemingly continuing the Atleti tradition of having a great striker (Sanchez, Torres, Aguero, Falcao, Costa etc) but the more I watch him, the less I'm convinced by him. Whenever he gets to a big game with huge stakes involved, he disappears more often than not and I don't think I would trust him to take a game-winning penalty.

{Ed001's Note - he has been getting worse in recent months, he does tend to disappear in the big games, but I think this is more related to him wanting to leave in the summer and being unable to. He has plenty of ability but he never shuts up in the press and what he says is never the right thing. I would not want him to join.}

Thanks for the reply ed, would be interesting to see how he fares if or when he leaves Atleti.

{Ed001's Note - it's when mate.}

Zpecial, he will be heavily bullied in a physical league like BPL. Then ppl's will realise he is just t a blond ayoze perez.

Personally don't think holding out in Summer and leaving in Jan do contradict each other. We held out in Summer for several reasons, or so it seems, including the timing and lack of time to get a replacement for the right price. If he goes in Jan because we have the situation under control then that is different to him playing up and us giving in.
